Stay away from this dishonest company. Prior to lease renewal they called to tell me the lease rates were going down. I got a summary of charges, which were close to what we had agreed to. A month later they call to tell me I am past due. It turns out they changed my mailing address and did not send me an invoice. I asked for a fax so that I could pay right away and suddenly the payable is three times the amount, past due interest @ 24%, service charge, admin. charges and something called ValueMax. This is apparently some kind of service plan, it is actually a scam.
when I asked to cancel the contract I was told I had to pay out a 60 month contract. I am so annoyed with this kind of dishonesty I am willing to pay just to get away from these ###. Guess what? They can't tell me the pay out until I fork over a $50.00 service charge. This is a very dishonest company, do not be fooled by them.

What a ripoff - the lease is over $5,000 and on top of that you pay for postage and all kinds of fees. I want to get out of the contract that was signed by someone who didn't even have the authorization to sign on behalf of the company. They give you bonus points, 1 point for every dollar and our company has logged 12k in bonus points, I certainly hope it doesn't interpret into $12,000 dollars spent. I have problems with the machine, they want you to fix it, read through all their documentation and then they just follow-up with helpful people but they don't know much. I would not recommend this option to anyone! Plus it updates and sends and installs and checks and ... everytime we go to use it taking up almost 20+ minutes of standing around waiting on the darn machine.
We just got hit with our first ValueMAX charge ever this quarter. The representative explained it was to cover the cost of repair/replace. I guess Pitney doesn't understand what the word "Lease" means, as the cost of repairs is always the responsibility of the lessor. Basically they raised the cost of the lease by $21 a quarter, hiding it behind this ValueMAX nonsense. I can't think of any business that would have an insurance policy that would cover leased equipment. Complete nonsense. Every other piece of leased equipment in our office is covered by the company we lease it from. That's the entire point of a lease, repairs are covered. So yes, it is very much like a scam. If you're going to require we pay $21 more per quarter, then that's the increased cost of the lease. No need to dance around semantics.
Whoa...such hostility! It seems that Pitney Bowes must have some big problems with their image if they have to be so testy. Whether or not the customer misread or misinterpreted (or didn't read) the contract, a lot of people are frustrated with what they feel should be a straight transaction, but then find out there are so many distasteful add-ons, provisos, disclaimers, etc. We office professionals that purchase/rent/lease office equipment as part of our jobs would hope that a company as well known as Pitney Bowes would re-think their sales practices if customers are complaining that they didn't get what was expected. Even if the customer is mistaken, shouldn't Pitney Bowes want to fix communication issues that are clearly being experienced by many a (former) customer?
Negative! Valuemax is repacement of the equoipment in the event of a fire, hurricane or natural disaster. It is not insurance. As a matter of fact, all you need to do is supply a Cert. of Insurance form your insurance provider and the charge will be removed.
Every lease on the, arket has the same terms, they can't be stopped without paying them off. Only the Federal (GSA) Contracts have the cancel at any time in the T & C's. Be aware that you can and will be held responsible for false claims posted in the public domain.
I'd like to start by saying I worked for Pitney Bowes in the financial department that handles the leases. I have been with the company for 5 years, and know the rules and practices of our contracts inside and out. Our standard late fees are $32. For ever lease. No matter how much your quarterly payment is. If any errors were made to your address in our system, I'm positive we would have made any necessary adjustments, as we are allotted waivers of late fees for any "Pitney Bowes" error and to maintain customer satisfaction. "Valumax" as stated in your terms and conditions of your contract, is a replacement plan if You, the customer, doesn't provide insurance information for coverage on our equipment. Your reference to Pitney Bowes holding you to your lease is correct. Our leases are non cancellable, again as stated in the terms and conditions. If your company signed a contract we will enforce it as agreed. As for charging you a $50 dollar service charge for an early termination quote, that is completely bogus. I give out quotes 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and have NEVER charged ANYONE for a quote. It sounds to me as if the majority of your problems stem from you, and your company not reading your contract and terms. This is not the fault of Pitney Bowes for customer neglegence. Speaking about dishonesty is kind of like the pot calling the kettle black. Have a nice day.
