PetSmart the name should be changed to petstupid!

Honestly, if I had a family member like tony soprano I wouldn't waste a minute to make a phone call. July 3026, my loving sweet miniature schnauzer named mitzi of 11 years, perfect health, very fit became very ill after given a bath at petstupid. When I picked her up after the "grooming session" she was coughing up water, that night she dropped to the floor spread eagle. I rushed her to the veterinarian and was told that she had water in her lungs!
I would love to give that groomer a grooming session just like the one she gave my little mitzi!
My little sweetheart went into heart failure and died just one month after the horrid grooming session. Don't go to petstupid!

PetSmart grooming

The groomers at the Warner Robins ga Petsmart are too busy talking to one another about their everyday life events instead of focusing on the dogs. I took my Morkie right at opening time to have her hair trimmed and toenails filed down. I didn't mind the 4 hour wait but I also told them that I had to be at work at 3pm... so I dropped her off at 9 am... went back at 1:00 pm and they haven't even started on her and told me it wouldn't take but 30 minutes. So while she was finally being groomed the girl kept telling her to stop whining. She is just a puppy still...6 months old. I will NEVER GO BACK. I can tolerate the time it takes them to groom my dog but not yelling at her. Just saying.

PetSmart grooming

I have been using Petsmart several time to groom my two dog's hair. Mary use to cut their and make sure I understood what was going to be done. My dogs smelled when I dropped them off. When I picked them up I noticed my male dogs face was uneven. My female dogs tail was missing the puff ball as the male dog had. The eyes still had the brown eyes drainage that poodles get. The ear still were grimy and dirty feeling like before. The hair on the ears were un evenly cut and was done as if the cutter was just trying to give the "it was cut look". If there was an issue I should have been told or explained why my sweet dogs were stinking up my newly clean car with the same odor which they went to get taken care of in the first place. The dogs had clipping of hair filing the car as they took turns shaking the fur. So it was obvious that the dogs were not bathe after their hair cut. I am not happy with the service provided this visit. The company really lost a good groomer "Mary".

PetSmart manager's behavior

The store issued a coupon for Purina products when I purchased a 3.5 LB bag of cat food. When I tried to use the coupon for another 3.5 pound bag of the same cat food, the cashier said we would need the manager to approve it... The manager vehemently recited the fine print stating the coupon was good for 10 LB bags or larger... He went on to say that I was given the coupon in error (Petsmart's).. His attitude and thirst to exert his authority was off putting enough for me to decide it was not worth it.
What hits a nerve is the fine print said the coupon was also good for cat litter, which I would have been glad to buy.
The managers mouthy behavior may have been motivated by our audience (an attractive cashier), in any regard Petsmart should avoid permitting this guy to interact with customers.

PetSmart 37 gallon top fin fish tank

I purchased a 37 Gallon Top Fin fish tank on September 6, 2015. On March 17, 2016 while sitting on my couch, my tank exploded all over the place. It has caused almost $10, 000 worth of damage. I am very upset in this matter, seems how it has caused not only damage, but stress as well from missed work, to clean up the water and try to save some of my belongings. Homeowners insurance will NOT cover time missed from work, nor will it cover the amount of the fish tank seems the fish tank was the cause. I requested a receipt from this date of purchase seems how I lost mine, and was told it will take about 5 days for me to get the email e-receipt, which I can understand that, but still very frustrating. I would not suggest purchasing this item to anyone. The location this item was purchased from is:

5135 Sunset Blvd Ste U, Lexington, SC 29072

PetSmart dirty, smelling section of store

The Petsmart on Balcones and 183 South in Austin, Texas has a section of there store in the back left in the cat Pedigree and Little Caesers that is rank, it smells like something is dead, maybe a mouse or rat? Spoiled food... I have been told that it has been like that for months and this person will not even shop there anymore. I smelled it myself two days ago and I cannot imagine how the employees cannot or just have learned to ignore it. I do not think this speaking well of that store.

I cannot take pictures of a smell or I would, I went myself to assure you that this problem was still happening. I think that the stock and shelves need to be checked for rotten food, mouse or rat feces and dead little creatures. This should be done throughout the store and of course the shelves should be decontaminated.

PetSmart dog grooming

PetSmart located on Lake Worth Blvd., Fort Worth. Nasty, Unprofessional, Rude! As a retired and previous dog groomer, I was absolutely disgusted at this place. On Saturday at 5 pm., I took my son’s Australian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees to be groomed (groomed) not scalped. When I walked in the Australian Shepherd was still on the table being worked on, I did not even recognize her. When they brought out the Great Pyrenees, I almost fainted. Both dogs had been scalped and were barely recognizable. What little hair was left was totally uneven and patches of hair missing.

Worst case was I decided to check the one dog and noticed blood where there were raw areas/abrasions from razor burns. Under her front arms and back legs she had a rash that was obviously due to razor burns, and one of her nipples was bleeding as well along with other abrasions.

After I had paid close to $200.00 I decided to bring this to the attention of the Manager on Duty. She was absolutely rude, hostile and had the bloody nerve to tell me not to return, as though I would! I then demanded a full refund - which I got. The two young girls who were in the grooming area; one attempted to tell me that the bleeding was normal. Yes, normal to her, an inexperienced belligerent know-it-all smart mouth wanna-bee Veterinarian.

Since my experience at this PetSmart, I decided to research and read posted comments on this particular place. I was astounded to read the many many negative and questionable complaints about this PetSmart and plan on submitting a formal complaint to the head office and any licensing/regulatory departments. It’s not about the money, it’s about the non-caring and condescending attitude of the staff - and cruelty to ones pet.

I would NOT recommend this PetSmart.

PetSmart disappointed

I have been loyal PetSmart customer for several years and never had any issues. I ordered 2 bags of dog food and paid over $100. I made an order online, because I was ill and could not make it to the store. I explained the situation and they promised my order would be delivered on Friday. Last Friday I went to the store and was told that they never received things I ordered. After three days of waiting I still don't have my order. Sorry, PetSmart, you just lost a customer. I'll never order anything again from this company.

The same thing happened to me. I wanted a large bag & they did not have it. The manager recommended I order it online which she did for me at the store. It took about 10 days t get it. I had to make another trip to the store because we ran out. So what was the point? I could have just bought small bags the first time!

PetSmart grooming

Late Jan. 2016 I took my dog in for a routine 6-8 week hair cut. I do his nails, ears and anal glands myself but don't yet cut his hair. I have a schnauzer who I've been bringing to a different Petsmart but this one was closer so I thought I'd give them a shot. I even do a brush out before dropping off to make sure he's free of any tangles. I explain what I want done during drop off and tell them the nail are already at the quick so don't cut them. I don't want any add ons just my routine standard schnauzer cut. 2 1/2 hours later (normal time) I get the all to come get him, at first glance everything looks fine so I tip, pay then leave. When I get home I notice I was charged 10.00 more then normal and his hair is chopping, they cut his eye lashes and they are uneven (I said not to) as well as something is stuck in his fur. Looking closer I discover they've cut and quicked 3 of his nails! I return to the store (they have a 100% satisfied guarantee or money back) and the salon manager was beyond rude, talking over me, and was ready with a mean attitude. I went in being nice, I work customer service, I understand things happen but I'm not paying for a poor service. The store manager told me the most they could do was 10% off without charging me the proper amount to begin with! I've called corrupt and they told me it's up to the store. Will not be going back.

PetSmart manager completely disrespectful

I was at the Petsmart in Turnersville, NJ earlier today. I was taken back at how disrespectful the manager Kristal had been to an employee who asked for her help. After being snarky to the employee she told the employee to call someone else for help. Another customer was taken back by this as well. It is not the first time I've witnessed her speaking to employees harshly. I don't understand how she became a manager. Her behavior should be looked into by corporate.

PetSmart authority dental cat treats

I purchased 2 bags of Authority Cat Treats, 1 made with Tuna, 1 made with Chicken. They are hard as rocks, could not be broken into smaller pieces, so tried soaking them in milk/water, took for over an hour for them to be soft enough to eat, my cats would not have anything to do with these treats. Thought about trying to bite a treat myself but was afraid I would break my own teeth.

PetSmart all things living basking bulbs-unethical behavior

This occurred December 27th, 2015. I have always shopped at the PetSmart at 5050 S. E. 14th in Des Moines, Iowa. I have literally spent thousands of dollars here in the past 15 years. I have several reptiles & should own stock in their UVB as well as UV lights, basking & heating. I have purchased all the brands & the one that gives you the longest life, when it doesn't break apart from the bulb & the screw in, is the All Living Things. The stores brand. I have purchased hundreds of lights through the years & this brand has had to be taken back at least 6 times. The store has a 60 day guarantee on their products, I keep receipts. When I returned the All Living Things basking bulb this last time, the cashier Carey, embarrassed me in front of a store full of people. She insinuated I was returning them dishonestly, after checking the reviews on this bulb, this problem has occurred many times with other people. Carey said she would exchange "this time" but she would have to talk to Tracy, the manager about not honoring the return receipt any longer. I will never shop at PetSmart again. I would never return anything dishonestly, a $7.99 bulb issue has just cost them lots of money. I'm putting this out wherever I can, if people have a warranty on their receipts & don't want to honor it, it should be removed.

PetSmart poor habitat for aquatic turtle

Hi, I visited the Hamilton Ohio location of PetSmart and I was horrified at the habitat for an Aquatic Mississippi Map Turtle. These turtles require at least 55 gallons of water... they are aquatic turtles, not box turtles or tortoises. I have my own aquatic turtles and I am very educated on the needs of these turtles. This location had a Mississippi Map turtle in a tank that is usually for tortoises and he had less than an inch of water. The poor little guy I was so sad for him. He looked so pitiful.in my experience, any PetSmart location I have been to, I have seen many of the exotic animals not receiving the proper habitat or care. Please Please Please require your employees to research the care of these animals so while waiting to be sold, they are staying healthy and happy. This is so cruel. I found that most employees don't have a clue about any exotic pets, including guinea pigs, lizards etc. Please hire knowledgable employees or at least require them to learn the proper care for these animals. I hope something is done about this... I will be following up as I go to this store quite often.

PetSmart poor customer service

I purchased several items online from PetSmart and opted for in store pickup. When I arrived at the store to pick up the products, the store manager told that items I ordered were out of stock. Well, thing like that sometimes happen, so I wasn't very upset. I went back home and browsed their website. Then I made another order online, but selected a different store that had those items in stock. When I arrived the same thing happened, no items available. The information on their website is false, they never update it. I just wasted my precious time! Called their customer support service and they just said how sorry they are. They also promised to fix the site. I was told they'll contact me when my items will be available. But they never called me, even when products I wanted were delivered to the stores.

PetSmart care of small animals

-November 30th 2015 (Not the only date I have been concerned) - Store # 610 Greenville, NC - I am concerned about the care and husbandry of the small animals (Guinea pigs, rats, chinchillas, hamsters) and birds in this store. I am in petsmart quite often picking up food for my dog and rabbit and don't ever hesitate to kindly bring a concern to attention. This is not intended to bash a specific person, but to create better care for animals that depend on us. I have a work history of working in veterinary offices and can't help but notice when something is not right. I think some of these animals are being neglected. I don't believe you guys are intentionally neglecting these animals, but more because they just don't know their proper diets. As I'm shopping around, I noticed an overweight guinea pig in a very small cage with no food, searching its bedding for food. Putting an overweight guinea pig in a small cage won't help it lose weight, and starving it won't help it either. A small cage will make it fat, and starving it will throw its gastrointestinal tract off (and its also really sad watching a guinea pig try to be active in a very small cage where an igloo is taking up most of the space). I found it odd that some of the birds had more hay than the animals that actually need it more. I kindly brought it to a pet care associates attention that the guinea pig had no food and his response was "oh, we are about to feed them in a little while anyways". He should have fed him right then and there. These types of mammals always need hay available as the chewing helps with grinding the teeth and the fiber aids in digestion, which clearly this guy did not understand. It was not his fault he doesn't know that. It's petsmarts' fault. It also doesn't take a person working at a vet to know this. There are endless credible internet sources that will provide such info. Another thing that was odd was that the small baby rats were in the giant cage, where the guinea pig should be. Another concern I had was with a 'tiel (a type of bird, complaint board won't let me spell out the name of the bird). 'tiels are very social birds and should have quite a few toys in their cages for mental stimulation. This poor bird had only one very large bell (that is likely for a large parrot) that is too big for it to even play with. It also had its feathers puffed out, one eye closed, and was shivering while it was perching. This sometimes can be indicative of a sick bird. Birds tend to hide their illnesses until they are very sick. Once again, I am not complaining to just get mad, but to get these poor dependent animals better care. I know that pet stores are always going to sell pets, but if you guys are going to then you need to do your research and treat them right. Putting them in too small of a cage with little to no food is neglect. Failing to take them to a vet is neglect. That guinea pig needs to be put in a large cage with unlimited amounts of timothy hay and the proper amount of pellets. The bird needs to be watched for any other signs of illness. Petsmart needs to better train their pet care associates in order for them to properly care for these animals as they each have their own distinct diet and care.

PetSmart grooming injured my dog severely

Been having my SPCA adopted dogs groomed at Petsmart for 15 years. Took my 12 year old cattle dog in for a nail clipping and bath and 3 hours later she was crippled. Had to have a vet come to the house ($360 vet bill). He determine her leg ligament was torn, probably from them making her stand for 3 full hours. She had been on medication for 3 weeks and the dr advised surgery ($2200) so she could walk again. She's a 110 lb dog and carrying her is VERY difficult as I live alone and Im a 150 lb woman, 5'4". I couldn't afford surgery but did pay the $360 vet bill. The medication for her has cost 160 bucks so far and it's only been a few weeks. I called Petsmart corporate. Corporate office had the local store request the vet records. I hear nothing for 3 weeks. Zero concern for my dogs. At 3 weeks, I get a callous call from the local store grooming manager saying corporate says the dog has a preexisting condition. There is no preexisting condition. I ask her what condition. She says the dog is 12 and overweight. Petsmart didn't even ask how the dog was. They expressed zero care or my dog and were beyond cold. Who cares about the money. My dog couldn't walk for 2 weeks and I was home with her constantly, handfeeding her and cleaning up. At 3 weeks, she was able to walk outside and her spirits were slightly better but again, she's on pain meds and anti-inflammatory to ease her agony. Forget about the money all of this cost me. And I paid 60 for a grooming and she came home covered in her own poop because it took an hour to get her from the car to the house in the pouring rain, about 10 feet because she was so injured. And she hadn't pooped all day probably. She was severely tramatized and I paid 60 for them to injure my dog. I want Petsmart to lose their license for grooming. I hope nobody ever has to go through this. Your dog is family and Petsmart promotes that they care but they don't AT ALL. I never even get a word of concern at all about my dogs. It was all about money issues for them and that's it. It was like talking to nonemotional robots that only cared about keeping 60 bucks yet they are a billion dollar corporation.

PetSmart the manager's attitude towards me

I have to say I feel extremely mistreated and humiliated by the manager, bill at petsmart today. I was loyal customer to petsmart. Since I had my dog in april, I bought everything from petsmart, had all his vaccines in banfield and took him to pet grooming there most of the time. But today, after what my dog and I had experienced in petsmart, I felt hurt and humiliated as a loyal customer and if I cannot get a response from manager, I would tell all my friends not to go there anymore. Alright, I had to admit it was my dog’s fault at first. I have a border collie. I took my dog to the grooming salon today and when the groomer tried to bring my dog back to the grooming room, he was really not cooperative, which never happened before. My boyfriend held him in order that the groomer could put a leash on him. But he bit her on her lower arm. I felt so so so sorry for the groomer but she still smiled and said it should be fine. Both my boyfriend and I felt extremely angry about our dog but astonished at the same time because he had never done this to anyone before, never ever. And claudia, a groomer, said my dog should be aggressive just for a period of time because she had bathed him before. And then the manager, came, and checked the bite. He said it was not a big problem. But then when he reached out his hand to my dog, my dog attacked him and teared a piece of clothes of his pants. I apologized immediately but the manager acted angrily and said immediately: “we cannot bathe this dog any more.” I loved petsmart before and asked: “not any more.” he just answered in a humiliating way :”no. Not anymore.” there are two things I want to complain about: first, as the manager in a pet store, he lacks basic knowledge about dogs. I said this not to defend my dog, but dogs are protective in nature and when a dog has already shown aggressiveness, one should never act like he is going to do harm to the dog. From what I saw today, he avoided interaction with dogs and showed extreme non-profession. Since he is around with dogs everyday, I suggested that he should probably google how to communicate with a dog, at least for once. Anyway, it’s not professional for them to be attacked by dogs. It’s even more unprofessional to blacklist a dog from entering the pet store just because he made one mistake. Second, the manager does not show respect for his customers-my dog, me, and my boyfriend. When our dog bit his pants, he said immediately: “we cannot bathe this dog any more.” I understood this immediate reaction. But when I asked whether he meant it because I felt he might be on the fit of anger, he just replied: “ no. Not anymore.” I felt hurt because I took my dog to petsmart grooming for at least 5 times already and he behaved all the time. The manager neither knows how to make proper contact with a dog nor knows what character my dog has. He just made such an arbitrary decision just because he felt embarrassed by the tear on his pants. Any dog should not be treated like this. If he wants to ban my dog from going to petsmart again, he had to show me the policy which says that as long as a dog bites for once, the dog cannot enter petsmart. Anyway, I feel extremely angry about the manager's attitude. I hope petsmart can at least apologize for what the manager had done to me and my dog.

PetSmart customer service

The worst. I have been shopping at this PetSmart for years and this was the end.

A very ill-tempered clerk named Vanessa had been rude to me several times over the past few weekend visits. Seemed almost like it was a personal thing. This was the last time. My (leashed) Lab puppy started to bark at a parrot in a glass cage. The parrot didn't seem to mind, and was even pecking the glass at eye-level with the dog. The kids surrounding her were enjoying at the scene and petting her. Overall nothing special, until Vanessa yelled at me from 30 feet away in front of about 20 customers to have the dog stop barking.

Flat out rude and embarrassing. I went home and looked up PetSmart to complain. I was surprised to find HUNDREDS of complaints leveled at PetSmart. Wow…what a customer service record. I won't bother pursuing it…. I will just take the $1, 200/yr I spend at that store and go elsewhere.

… and somebody ought to train Vanessa ASAP that barking at customers really doesn't work.

PetSmart - age discrimination

Applied to PetSmart several times for an entry level position. Retirement became too boring so I applied for an open position. My resume is stellar and I would have expected as least an e-mail that I was not considered. Nothing happened even after I personally handed my resume to the hiring manager. The position remained open for months. When I went there...
