Need For Build

I am so happy with my experience. This family owned biz was professional, upfront, on time and on BUDGET! They were also thorough and timely with communication. Gonna use 'em for another project!

A smooth start quickly turned into a nightmare. We had a quick appointment and the person, ***, arrived on time and gave us a fast estimate to change our bathroom countertops. We had already bought the slabs, so he said he would start the project the following week. He took the initial deposit from us, we signed the contract, and he told us to buy the faucets and sinks right away. The next day, he and his fabricator came to our house and took 4 slabs worth around $3500.

A few days later, he showed up with another worker named Sagi and said that the project was being transferred to him due to a family emergency. That's when our troubles began. He disappeared on us, and after weeks of following up, he finally came back and said that the first guy had given us a low quote, so they were struggling to start the project. After more weeks of delays and us sending messages, they finally scheduled us for the job.

Around the same time, there was a surge in coronavirus cases in California, and the state issued a mandate against gatherings. We contacted them and the project was put on hold according to the state law. When the mandate was lifted, we reached out to them again, but they demanded an additional 60% of the original quote to start the project, blaming us for putting it on hold. We were simply following the law, so we didn't feel comfortable moving forward with them. We asked if we could cancel the contract, and he agreed right away.

We had to follow up with them for a week to get our deposit back, but our slabs still hadn't been returned. They said the reason for canceling the contract was Covid-19. It has been days since then, and we are still waiting for our slabs. We have been messaging Need For Build Inc and the fabricator every day. We have been polite, cooperative, and understanding throughout this whole ordeal. It's a shame that the company and owner have never once contacted us. The only positive thing is that we didn't sign up for any larger projects with them, which we had been planning to do. If you are considering them, please be very careful.

My relative's backyard is still not finished and it's been over a year now. This company is fast to sign you up and take your money but can't deliver in a reasonable time. The contract doesn't have a timeline and the cost isn't broken down. I forgot to ask my relative if they got a blueprint of the project.
