I accompanied a friend to Moffit Magnolia for his stage IV cancer treatment. We initially felt confident in seeing if Moffitt had a second opinion of treatment for his Prostate cancer. There was good guidance about not doing cryosurgery previously advised here in Orlando. The treatment recommendation was different, and we felt we were moving in the right direction. After 4 months, we asked to have his next appt. with the primary Doctor, as she was soon scheduled for personal leave for a few months. Besides his monthly shot, the intent of the visit was to consider a drug vacation. She scheduled a scan that would be a baseline to evaluate his progress. My friend is very claustrophobic and all but begged twice for a few anxiety pills to take just prior to the scan as his other doctor had done for previous successful scans. She refused him even after a second request. This med. was on his previous charts and even the prep sheet given to him referred to such medication in preparation for the scan. When questioned her nurse proceeded to cancel the scan and advised him to go elsewhere for it. What started out as a hopeful relationship with this provider soon plummeted to an awful sense of rejection and possible prejudice. He was very concerned that if things went downhill, would she be there for him. We also contacted a Moffit patient advocate department concerning his experience and were promised a follow up call by a supervisor- which never happened. Nevertheless, he has returned to his previous doctor with Fl Cancer Specialists who have treated him with profound respect. As his health care advocate, I give one star for all the kindness of other staff. This does not negate the Doctors behavior. I advise research and homework before making a caregiver decision.

Moffitt Cancer Center is a total scam! They charged me $3,000 just for a basic blood test! Save your money and go to Florida Cancer Specialist instead. Their prices are way better and the staff is much nicer. Moffitt only cares about making money, not helping people. Don't waste your time or money here!

I had a nurse in the GU dpt who was not nice and talked down to me.
I talked to someone who said they would get back to me, but they never did.
I filled out a survey after my apt and said I wanted to hear from someone, but no one ever contacted me.
I talked to the head of a different dpt and she was nice and contacted GU and patient care for me. She said I would get a call back, but I never did.
Today, I tried to call the lady who runs the patient care office. I was hung up on and given the wrong number. I spent a half hour on the phone and never got past the operator. The operator said she was in contact with her boss.
How can I trust these people with my life if they can't do what they said they would do?

They don't tell you what they're gonna charge you for, my wife went for a check up and they charged us $2500! We had to pay $1100 out of our own pockets, they took it from our MRA without asking. If they told us how much it was gonna cost we would've gone somewhere else. I called and they said it's like a hospital and we can't do anything about it. Not cool.

I got all the info you need down there. I tried to fix things up with Moffitt Cancer Center but they ain't listening, so I sent this paper to the Collection Agency by certified mail. The Collection Agency is called Preferred Collectionand Management Services, Inc and their phone number is XXX-XXX-XXXX. The reference number is XXXXXXXXX and the client number is XXXXXXX-X. Moffitt uses two account numbers (MRN): XXXXXXX and XXXXXXX. But that ain't right 'cause the XXXXXXX number is for a different patient's co-signor. I told them about it but they didn't do nothin'. Their bills are all messed up (besides the 2 account numbers) and the folks I talked to at Moffitt won't take payment for other bills we ain't disputin'. They say we gotta pay the oldest bill, which we don't owe. Plus, I left a message for the Patient Advocate Dept. but they never called me back. I really hope you can help us fix this mess.

Moffitt Cancer Center charged me $14,000 extra for lab tests. I've had mycosis fungoides, a T-cell cutaneous lymphoma, for a while now. My diagnosis is clear, and my treatment is stable. I get an exam with blood tests and a prescription renewal every six months, which usually costs me around $200-$300. When I moved to Florida, I was referred to Moffitt to find a specialist to perform these exams and prescription renewals. I was examined on January 23, 2022, and was surprised to receive a bill for almost $14,000 in blood test fees. That's way too much, and I wasn't informed about these charges beforehand. The billing department said it was my fault for not running an estimate beforehand. However, their estimator doesn't cover MF, and "blood tests" wouldn't have been accurately estimated anyway. I tried to contact the patient facilitator who helped set up my Moffitt account and visit, but never heard back. I couldn't find any patient advocate on the Moffitt website, and no Moffitt employee I contacted could refer me to one. After 3 months, I finally found a "grievance" address buried in policy text that requires mailing of written complaints. Why can they take our money online instantly, but a complaint has to use Civil War technology? It will take me years to pay off these exorbitant and unnecessary charges. Moffitt billing is predatory, and their process demeans patients. I want a refund of the excessive fees, a change in Moffitt procedures to review costs with patients before treatment (and not make it the patient's burden to beg for them), and establish an easy-to-find consumer advocate office to resolve financial issues before treatment.

Moffitt Cancer Center used to be a good place to go if you had cancer, but now I'm not so sure. I recently went there to get iron infusions and they made me see a hematologist and get lab work done again, even though I had just done it the month before. They never told me about the hospital charge until it was too late. I feel like they took advantage of me and I'm not happy about it. They did offer me 50% off, but I still don't think it's fair.

Moffitt Cancer Center is a bad place to go for labs. They are charging way too much money for simple tests. I went there to get my thyroid checked and they took me to their lab without telling me anything. They did some basic tests that should only cost $20 or $50, but they charged my insurance $1,729. Blue Cross paid some of it, but now they want me to pay $847.21 for something that should be cheap. They did it to me twice and charged my insurance $2,858 for two visits that should have cost $40-$100 total. They are trying to charge me $1,400.42 for the balance. I am so mad about this. I have sent them emails and letters and they still want me to pay. They even sent me to collections. I told my friends on Facebook and they are mad too. Moffitt Cancer Center is ripping off people who are sick and it's not right.
