Liberty Tax Service review: tax preparer Louis M. Zephir

4/8/26: Mr. Louis M. Zephir did my taxes at Hempstead, NY location
He gave me Liberty Tax card noting the expected Federal refund: $774 and expected State refund: $1,039.
4/15/26: Louis M. Zephir called to ask for my tax pin number. The links that he gave me to find the pin number were not right, and he said he "wasn't going to deal with this" and that he would just mail the return.
5/1, 5/5, 5/8: I tried to call Louis M. Zephir to get update on the return but there was no response to my messages.
5/15/26: I contacted Veronica at the Uniondale, NY office. Veronica said that Louis M. Zephier had just mailed my return on APRIL 29, 2026. even though the return were completed on 4/8/26. Veronica said that she could still expedite the refunds if I gave her my pin number.
5/18/26: I contacted Veronica with my pin number.
5/28/26: I received only $433 from Federal instead of expected $774.00. Veronica said that I would receive a letter explaining the difference.
6/1/26: Received $882 for state instead of expected $1,039.00. I called Veronica and she said she would review my filing and get back to me.
6/12/26: I contacted Veronica for an update and to inform her that I never received a letter explaining why my refunds were much lower than expected so I questioned where the rest of my refund was. She checked my records and could not see why the refund numbers were lower and that she would look into that.
6/15/26: I called Veronica for an update and she said she would contact Louis M. Zephir to get info on why my refund was lower. She said she expected to hear back from him by end of day and that I should call her back for an update.
6/15/26: I called back several times and received automated message saying: "You're not allowed to make dialed carrier call". It seems that Veronica has blocked me from calling the office.

Liberty Tax Service's work has been unsatisfactory. You would think that they are volunteering their services when they are actually being paid for their work. Please investigate this issue and contact Louis M. Zephir to refund the monies that have not been received- $500.00. I never received a letter from the IRS or explaining why the refund was $500.00 less. I also want to know why he was not responsive to my calls. I paid for the tax preparation service. I should not have had to make over 20 calls to try to get this issue settled. I also should not have been blocked from calling the Uniondale office for trying to solve this issue. I am very disappointed with your tax preparer's customer service and level of responsiveness. I paid for the service.
