Reliable furnace maintenance
Last winter, I reached out to Knik Heating for a routine furnace maintenance check. The technician arrived on time and was both professional and courteous. He took the time to explain what he was doing and gave me some useful tips on how to keep my furnace running efficiently. I appreciated the transparency and the lack of upselling. Since the service, my furnace has been running smoothly, even during the coldest days. It's reassuring to know I have a reliable go-to service for my heating needs.

When they make mistakes, they do not admit, they just protect themselves. They put in my tankless hot water system. While installing, they said they need to change the pressure switch for the water pump to a different psi. When they let out the air from the system, I asked them to check the precharge pressure on the tank. They said it is what they always do, and told me it was 20 psi and that it was okay. So they changed the pressure switch to a new one.
After some months, the water pump started making loud noises, like it was having trouble reaching the right pressure. Thinking my pump was broken, I called another water service company. The first thing they did was look at the pressure switch. When they opened it and turned on the pump, they recorded a video showing a wire that was getting hot. After they replaced the switch, they checked the tank's precharge pressure and it was 17 psi. They increased it to 27 psi, which is what the manufacturer says it should be, 3 psi less than the cut-in pressure. After paying $402 for this service, everything was working well again and the pipes were not making noise.
Then, I contacted Knik Heating, sent them the video, and asked to talk to the manager. The next day, I talked to the manager and told him right away I did not want money back for the service call. I just wanted to let him know about the mistake they made by not setting the right pressure on the tank. He cut me off quickly and said that everyone knows about the tank pressure settings. When I tried to explain more, he interrupted again, saying they have no record of changing the pressure switch when they did my installation. I told him again I didn't want money, but I wanted to help him by telling his installer about the correct precharge specs and I was thinking maybe other customers have the same issue. I think the manager was very quick to defend their workers instead of listening to my concern.
