Karla Dennis and Associates Inc is a total scam!
Karla Dennis and Associates Inc is a total scam! I forked over $3,000 expecting some services, but they didn't deliver anything. Then they had the audacity to inform me that the $3,000 was just a small down payment and that I owed them a whopping $27,000 in total. Can you believe it? They took my hard-earned money without providing any services, all while preying on honest folks like me. Don't fall for their tricks!
Extremely knowledgable and patient
Extremely knowledgable and patient. I was struggeling to file my taxes after loosing my father to Covid. I had to file his taxes and mine. It was very hard. They were very patient with me. They gave me a list of what I needed to give them and they explained it multiple times. I am not good at paperwork but *** and *** really helped me. They didn't rush me, they followed up and I got the taxes done. You really get what you pay for and their service was on point.
Horrible service
Horrible service. I paid $6000 for Tax Strategy and around $2000 for tax return preparations. I had a very painful, traumatic journey with them. They are not professionals at all and they don't stick to promises made. They never respond to calls and emails except when taking money. Once we pay, we are left in a corner and have to rely on their mercy. Even after paying that much money, it's very pathetic. After wasting months of time, they will mention that they can't do tax strategy for you. Once again, please beware of Karla Dennis and Associates, especially Karla. She doesn't know anything. Below *** E, 1 star, Dated on 08/31 comments 100% I experienced.
I watched a video Karla had online cuz I was lookin for a tax person to help me save on taxes
I watched a video Karla had online cuz I was lookin for a tax person to help me save on taxes. They gave me a free consultation and told me they could help me. The costs was more than I was used to payin but I also wasn't satisfied with the work bein done. You get what you pay for. They asked a lot of questions and I had to gather a lot of information. In the end, I was glad I went to them. My taxes for the first time show a refund and I didn't have to write IRS a big check. A very different tax experience but worth the time and money. I own a small business and it's tough to pay employees, save money and keep up with taxes. Now I understand what I was missin and why my tax preparation fees were so cheap. I wasn't gettin the knowledge I needed.
At a landlord tradeshow last year, I met Karla Dennis and Associates
At a landlord tradeshow last year, I met Karla Dennis and Associates. Her speech and presentation was refreshing, got me interested in learning more. Being an African American, I try to support black owned businesses. I went to Karla Dennis and Associate’s office and met with her son to discuss what they did and how they could help my business. I got a price, but wasn't ready to move forward. Few months later, I was ready to sign, so I made an appointment. When I sat down to sign the contract, the price had gone up by over 50%. I signed in good faith, felt their tax strategy would still help me. I assumed I'd be working with her son, but got Bill instead. He sent an email questioner which I completed before the meeting. On the day of my arrival, Bill had me waiting nearly 45 minutes after my appointment time. He asked me the same questions from the email. He never looked at my email or my answers. It began a pattern of unprofessionalism. Over several months, Bill continued to disappoint. Calls went to voice mail, emails not responded to for over a month. Follow up emails not responded to either. Documents that were supposed to be uploaded to a portal never got there. We had conference calls to discuss tax strategies where he had current data he was discussing, data I couldn't see because he never uploaded them. After several months of underwhelming performance, I reached out to Karlton, the owner’s son, and explained everything that had gone on since he signed me. I forwarded all of the emails that didn’t get responded to, the missed meetings etc. Karton said that from now on “all things David he would pay attention to.” He then assigned me to Vershawn B. She would be taking over and she would fix my issues. Upon our first few encounters, I was rightfully frustrated and on the defensive as I had to bring her up to speed on all of my issues. Both the tax planning side as well as the tax return itself. As with Bill, I had several questions that never got answered. I went through several rounds of non-responds to emails with both Vershawn and with Karlton. I purposefully CC’d them both with all correspondence. And to give them the benefit of the doubt, I asked them to add me to their email contacts so my emails would not get sent to spam. After waiting weeks for responses from either of them, I begin CC’ing Karla, the owner of the business into my emails (I never heard from Karla). Even then, it didn’t help. From what I gather, turnover is an issue at the firm. Certain people had specific jobs, and no one was managing the entire process making sure things got done on the back end to make things smooth for their clients. Well at least on my case. Come tax time, I was emailed a document via DocuSign which required me to sign stating I received and understood their pricing sheet costs. Of course, there was no such file in the electronic form. I instead went to my appointment to discuss this in person. I asked the receptionist for a copy of the prices that both the DocuSign and their printed documents required me to do, and conveniently she didn’t have it. She made a few calls, sent a few emails and couldn’t produce one. I told it I would not sign an agreement with them if I had no idea what I was being charged. She said she would get back with me the following week. I waited two weeks then called her back. Her response was she had sent an email and didn’t get a response. Not taking ownership is a trend at Karla Dennis and Associates. It took nearly a month and several follow up phone calls and emails in order to get their pricing sheet. And of course, they were drastically higher than when I met with them during my first meeting less than a year ago. In total I spent over $7,000.00 in between tax planning, tax filing, and incorporation of my business. I’ve never had to spend so much time or effort on a company I gave money to in order for them to do the job they promised. If you want to deal with a team of unprofessional tax planners whose empty apologies don’t resolve your issues, who isn’t concerned with making things right with their clients, you found the right company. If you want to deal with a team that treats you as a number, who makes you work to remind them to do what they are promised, you found the right tax planners. If you want to feel like you’re the crazy one who’s out of line because no one returns your emails, as they magically enter limbo, and your dates for deliverables and calls disappear from their knowledge, you guessed it, you’ve found the right company. If you want to deal with individuals who pass the buck and don’t take ownership of any of their mistakes, Karla Dennis and Associates is for you.

I asked for a money back guarantee for an online course, following their guidelines, which included returning the workbook. They keep saying I'll get a refund in 5-7 days for the last month. I just want my money back like they promised.

On 9.23.21, I signed an agreement for consultation services for 5,000.00, with a 30 day Money Back Guarantee. They delayed my first appointment by 2 weeks, saying they weren't scheduling for those 2 weeks, but they promised to extend my refund window because of this. I had 2 welcome calls where we discussed my goals, and one short call with a representative who had a quick question about my taxes. My consultation appointment, which was scheduled for 10.21 (close to the 30-day guarantee expiration), lasted an hour and focused on how I should switch to an S-Corp. They showed me a chart illustrating what my taxes would look like if I made the change. However, many of the numbers were incorrect, and they said they would refine the report and email it to me that afternoon. Unfortunately, I never received the report. On 10.22, I called and sent 2 emails asking for a refund. I received an email saying they would call me on Monday. After sending another email today requesting a refund, they informed me that they will not provide one.

After receiving an unsolicited mail about the Karla Dennis Tax Reduction Strategy Package (TRS), I decided to purchase the DVD's, books, and online classes for $499. However, I encountered a few issues. Firstly, I didn't receive a follow-up receipt or a sales website to cancel my order on June 12. To my surprise, I received another email promoting the same sale on June 18. Frustrated, I sent a refund request for the TRS using my credit card number ending in ***.
I must admit, I had high hopes for the TRS program as I ordered it on September 12, for our work projects in Africa funded by the US. I logged in and tried the online program, hoping for a better online experience. Unfortunately, the program didn't meet my expectations, so I decided not to continue studying it. Seeking guidance, I consulted with my two tax CPAs and explained the TRS program I had purchased. They informed me that this program wouldn't be helpful for missionaries like us who are involved in work projects in Africa. The reason being that the US tax laws are changing rapidly, and even they struggle to keep up with the yearly 40-hour update training!
It's disheartening because the sale advertisement claimed, "Buy with confidence...a risk-free 30-day 100% money-back guarantee." Therefore, I kindly request a refund of my $499.

I made a Contractual Agreement with Karla Dennis & Associates for their Tax Amendments services
I made a Contractual Agreement with Karla Dennis & Associates for their Tax Amendments services. I paid the initial fee of $595.00. I started communicating with a 'Tax Specialist' named '***', but it was difficult to obtain the necessary Authenticated Documents due to scheduling conflicts and restricted offices caused by COVID. I explained to '***' that it would be challenging for me to retrieve the Original Authenticated Documents because I didn't know I needed to get additional years. As a Medical Professional and 'Front-Line' Healthcare worker, I was frequently out of town for work contracts. However, I assured '***' that my local accountant's office would be more flexible once 'Tax-Season' resumed in mid-end January . Our last communication was on January 18th. After that, I didn't hear back from '***' and later found out that he is no longer with the company. I have tried contacting his Superiors for the past 2 weeks, but they haven't called me back. Despite their supposed reputation, this company has failed to start representing me or fulfill the promised 'Services'.
On 8/24, I bought the TD WOW system for $1,497.00
On 8/24, I bought the TD WOW system for $1,497.00. One of the main reasons I decided to purchase the system was because it included bi-monthly live Tax Reduction coaching calls with Karla Dennis. These calls were supposed to give me the chance to ask specific tax questions. However, right from the first day of purchase, I had problems with the coaching calls not being emailed to me. I thought the issue would improve, but I had to email the company every time to request the link for the call, even though it should have been sent to me the day before. I asked the company to fix the problem, but they didn't. I received the coaching calls inconsistently, and shortly after the 30-day money back guarantee period ended, I stopped receiving the sign-up emails for the coaching calls altogether. I emailed the company asking for the registration emails, but Karla Dennis redirected me to the archives instead of the live coaching calls that were part of the package I purchased. I kept asking for the coaching calls for several months, but never received them. Finally, I contacted the company and asked for a refund since they failed to provide the services I paid for. Karla Dennis then said he would forward the issue to IT. I told him that the issue should have been forwarded to IT months ago when I first notified him, but instead, he directed me to the archives instead of the live coaching calls. I expressed my disappointment and dissatisfaction with the services they promised but didn't deliver, and I requested my money back. However, Karla Dennis informed me that they would not issue a refund, even after months of trying to get the issue resolved.
