My dad, ***, was 79 years old when he took his car to K-tech on Tuesday March 1st. The car was overheating and he wanted to know how much it would cost to fix the thermostat. But, two days later he got sick and went to the hospital. On Friday 3/4, when I visited him in the hospital, he was upset because the garage had fixed the car without his permission and charged him $1,062.03. I think K-Tech did the repairs without asking him. My dad would never have said yes to such a big bill because he didn't have the money and would have asked me to pay. His wife, ***, also says he didn't agree to the work. I also think the prices they charged are too high and maybe even illegal. For example, they charged $24 for a gasket that should cost less than a dollar and $70 for the thermostat. I talked to three other garages and they gave me estimates that were three times lower than what K-Tech charged my dad. On Thursday 4/14, I called K-Tech to ask about the prices and they told me they would charge me $45 a day for storage starting on Monday 4/18. Shockingly, my dad never left the hospital and he died on March 21st. I'm really mad that a business would take advantage of an old man. I told the manager how I feel but they still want me to pay the whole bill.
