Unauthorized charges on my credit card
I was charged for not 1 but 3 copies of turbo tax and I did not even order it. I did order Turbo Tax (1 copy) from intuit.com last year.

Can not reach support on line from within Quick Books, which you are supposed to be able to do. Support at [protected] number does not have a clue what is going on. After I reported this problem to them it started working for awhile but now it won't work again. If you try to go to their website www.quickbooks.com/support by typing it in the address field you get the same error message. You get this: Cannot find "www.quickbooks.com" DNS Error - Server cannot be found. (This is exactly what it say. I did a copy and paste) If you go to www.intuit.com and follow the links to Quickbooks there is a link to support. If you click on the support link you get the same thing. It is tax season, before you go out and buy Turbo Tax and you want to import your Quick Books files you had better think twice.

Unauthorized credit card charges by quickbooks!
I have never authorized payment. Just like that quik books charged to my credit card. I have called the customer service, customer service asked me to if I wanted she can reverse charges. My question is why it was collected without my authorization. Wish some other company come up to stop quick illegal business practice.

It looks like intuit has figured out how to make a little more short-term profit and drive long-term customers, like me (20 years), to taxcut or some other competitor.
I was comparing the deluxe & premier versions of turbotax 2006 on the turbotax web site. On their "choose me if" pages they stated that a buyer would have to upgrade to the more expensive "premier" version if they sold stocks, bonds or mutual funds.
In each of the past years, I have used "deluxe" and stock transactions were part of the year's income or loss.
This concerned me. So, I sent an e-mail to their tech support and asked if this were actually the case and I could no longer use “deluxe” if I sold stocks.
The intuit tech support reply contained the following quote (bad grammar & all):
"1. Yes, the deluxe version do not offer this feature. If you will try to access this on your product, it will ask you to upgrade to premier investment product.
2. There is a question on the deluxe interview that will ask you if you sold these items. If you will click yes, it will ask you to upgrade to premier investment product.
3. Yes, you need to purchase or upgrade your deluxe 2006 to premier 2006 to handle stock sale."

Stock transactions are a common item in today's income tax. Now they seem to have removed this fundamental tax item from the deluxe program, with no notice to consumers.
It’s like selling you software that is useless without the purchase of add-ons or having to pay to buy an activation code.
It's a version of the old "bait & switch" con game or the intuit tech support doesn't know what they are talking about.

These people hold money and make us jump through ridiculous hopes. Telling me its the law, while NO ONE ELSE is asking for all the none sense they want. Such as a selfie ... I paid Turbo Tax $26.68 to e-file my state tax return. Due to a particular form in my tax return, I was unable to file it electronically and had to send in a paper return. I have been battling with Turbo Tax customer service who refuse to give me a refund for the e-file fee that I was unable to use.
I have NEVER been an Intuit customer. I have never used Turbo Tax or any of their products. So why do Intuit charges show up on my checking account? We had almost $1, 000 in charges via POS Debit via Intuit twice. Our cards were cancelled and reissued TWICE this year. It's happening again.

Unfortunately, the TurboTax agent's response is incorrect and I apologize for that.
TurboTax Deluxe 2006 is virtually identical to the 2005 version. If you have investments like stock/bond transactions, Deluxe will work fine for you. Premier is ideal for investors who have more complex transactions or need additional handholding in this area. For example, you may wish to upgrade to Premier to get these additional benefits:
1. BasisPro - BasisPro automatically computes your cost basis for any publically traded security regardless of when you purchased it and regardless of any corporate mergers/splits/cash distributions/ spinoffs, etc. that may have happened since your purchase.
2. Additional guidance with regard to stock options and employee stock purchase plans.
3. Additional help and interview customization for rental properties.
Just to reiterate, TurboTax Deluxe will handle all of these security transactions and rental properties, but TurboTax Premier provides more help, customized interview and BasisPro to make these complex areas even easier to master.

Quickbooks is a rip off!
They constantly force the user to upgrade and the support desk says something different every time I call. I have spoken to several people who feel the same.

I feel like I've out dumbed QuickBooks, at least for a while yet. I run an older version from before all the "activation" nonsense started. My QB resides on a computer that never sees the Internet, so security is not an issue--just the minor inconvenience of needing to transfer data now and then over to an Internet-connected computer to email to my customers. I've written my own payroll program in Excel that works well enough for my small business, and I keep up with my government filings. So, one lady's answer to all their b---s---.
I am still using 2013 Pro. Works just fine. One day it had a bizarre error and would not allow me in to it. I decided to upgrade at the tune of $200. The new 2018 pkg had issues. When I called QB tech support they wanted $400. to fix it. And, as usual, the person spoke very little English. I asked if they had a one time fix price, no was the answer. The third tech I spoke to offered a one time fix for $200. I refused to do it. I finally remembered I use Acronis backup service. I rolled my PC back and all was good. My complaint is Quick books is a scam and they continually get worse. I would not put it past them to have created my problem to begin with. They want you to upgrade every year. They no longer offer support or software downloads of programs only 4 years old. I should really start looking for another software.
Several years ago, quickbooks updated my QB software that I'd bought. The update disabled QB and I could not use it. I called QB and they said I'd have to pay $50 per hour or whatever their fee was for them to fix it. They broke it, why should I have to pay their extortion fee for them to repair it?!?! Now, they are going to intentionally disable the credit card processing that is tied to QB unless I buy QB 2015! I pay a monthly fee for their CC processing, points, etc and they still want to extort $225 from me to continue to have QB and their CC processor to function. Imagine buying a car, taking the car in for service at the dealer, and the dealer disables the car and tells you that you'll have to buy the car again for them to fix it. SCAM!
They just tried to do it to me. Said 2006 no longer supported. "I don't need support. I need my QB that I paid for to work". "Let me spek to your supervisor". We she came back on the phone she said now that her supervisor said it was OK for her to help me re register. They just want to sell you stuff and if you do not need it Don't let them get you.
I have had the same experience having to tell my old clients to upgrade to newer quickbooks because otherwise I couldn't read their files. I have finally found a product though that is working wonders online. It is called Xero. You can find them at Xero.com. They will simplify your accounting more than you would have though possible (especially after switching from quickbooks). If you would like a VERY competitive or, in my opinion, much better alternative, consider using Xero.

Quickbook is now going to screw you because they are going to charge you to upgrade evry two years if you use there payroll services. i have 2008 version and they are forcing me to upgrade to 2011 version or i wont be able to use my payroll services through them. DONT buy Quickbooks!
Bought Quickbooks 6 months ago and my laptop died. Switched to Mac and called them to switch my license to Mac Version. EVERY other company complied...QB said "NO". Period. Can I talk to someone else? "NO". Is there someone to file a complaint with. "NO, I am the presidents assistant" (me - really, lol, what's he wearing today?). Choose financial software carefully because once they have you they know they can screw you because it's a pain in the butt to switch finance software!

I've got a small machine shop. 3 employees, 2 of which ar my wife and I. We constantly are having tech problems. Again the complaint for which everybody has, and the response from QuickBooks: "well, we can fix that if you'll buy our online payroll service."
We are'nt able to enter the new tax rolls, without using thier online payroll service. I think maybe they don't use any people to do this online service-Ergo they make huge bottom line, with no real overhead(except code writers, which is all they are anyway). I upgraded to the quickbooks online after checking, double checking that the client credit card information would convert - the lied it did not ! I have wasted three weeks with multiple calls only to find out that it can not happen - mind you they don't care either.
I feel your pain Terry. The biggest problem I have with this is not that I did not sign up for automatic renewals. The thing that gets me is the fact that since I purchased the software last year I had to get a new Visa card after I lost my wallet. I have never updated my account information with Turbo Tax since. How is it they have still charged my account with my new card number that they should not know?
