The social worker was extremely judgemental. Refused to try to understand our position. My mother was sent to the hospital due to her COPD afterwards our house burnt down with all her belongings. I have to get her set-up in order for her before being discharged. I called her at 330pm and she completely lost her composure after asking her to contact her insurance company to arrange transportation. She said she didn't know what to tell me. I said the hospital is supposed to contact them. Again, she didn't know what to tell me. She told me to call 211. Again, 211 told me the hospital had to contact them. The social worker went off on me for waiting until she was supposed to leave for the day to tell her about this. I just lost all our furniture, clothing, bedding, food, appliances and medical equipment in a fire. She gets mad I didn't think about my air conditioning being broken in the car soon enough so she can go home on time. That was what this was really all about. She said the entire hospital is talking about the fire, which made me feel uncomfortable. Why are the employees gossiping about our personal lives? The fact she said told me shows how incredibly inexperienced she is at her job. She said it just feels like you don't want your mother to return home. That tells me she has no life experience to handle the job she's in. My mother lived with me and my family. I have been busy trying to find help through donations, contacting lawyers for legal advice, moving in the belongings that didn't get destroyed by the fire. I'm sorry the fire inconvenience this girls life. According to her I should be thinking of her needs first. She should have contacted the insurance company like I asked her to do. When I told her the hospital had to call to arrange transportation she should have believed that is what I was told. It her two minutes to arrange transportation. That's all I needed her to do. Instead I get told off because I waited until the end of her work day. She just left a voicemail saying 211 can't do it & to call her a cab. Why? I told her the insurance company will provide transportation. Why do I have to pay out of pocket when I already told her the hospital just has to let the insurance know.

Desired outcome: A policy that prohibits Huntsville hospital employees from spreading gossip about their patients. The social workers should take a more active approach in helping families instead of arguing with families.
