My wife and I booked a room at the Hampton Inn & Suites – Ottawa West from August 7th through August 9th to attend a family funeral. This was not a planned visit to Ottawa. During the evening of August 8th, we endured the worst stay that we have ever had in a hotel room and we have stayed in hotels on every continent in the world. At 6pm, the noise from a party being held on the ground floor in a meeting room – not a party room – started and we were on the fourth floor. We had no idea what songs were being played as all we could hear was the base component of the music. The noise was so loud that we could feel the walls and floor vibrating. In the bathroom, we could hear the noise resonating through the plumbing in the shower stall. We both developed severe headaches from the noise. We could not watch the TV without turning the volume up to a level that would have disturbed the guests in the rooms around us. The pounding and thumping from the music went on until 11pm. For the first time ever while staying at a hotel, at 8pm, I went down to the front desk to complain about the noise and was told that the management would tell the DJ to turn down the volume. On the ground floor, it was so loud that you could hear more than just the base, but, you still could not identify the song that was playing. The noise could also be heard in the fourth floor hallway and in the elevators. Briefly between 8pm and 9pm, the noise stopped and then was started again. I went back down to the front desk to complain again around 9pm. I was told that they would once again tell them to turn down the volume and that the party would be done at 10pm. As I had received a text message from the front desk manager earlier in the day asking how our stay was going, I decided to reply to that text just before 10pm. I received a reply from the girl at the front desk saying that she was sorry and that the management had asked for the volume to be turned down, not that they were told to turn it down. I replied by saying so much for the gathering being done at 10pm like I was told. Her reply said that the volume goes down at 10pm, that the party did not end at 10pm and she asked if the noise was better to which I had to reply that it was not better. She then replied that it would end at 11pm. I was not able to get to sleep until 1am because of the headache that I had and that made for a nasty 8 hour drive to get home the next day.
We were at the hotel to rest. We were not there to experience a nightclub atmosphere. I have kept the string of text messages that were sent and received that evening.
At no time did the hotel management do their due diligence and come up to our room to see what our issue was or what we were experiencing!
Desired outcome: I used 71,000 Hilton Honors points to stay at this location. I want my 71,000 points refunded with no string attached.
