Avoid this company.
I ordered shutters from Hillarys in January and paid the required deposit. The installation was scheduled for 11 April, but the fitter never arrived. I received no communication from Hillarys to explain the missed appointment and had to contact them myself. I was repeatedly told that the fitter would get in touch, but that never happened.
After several weeks of chasing for answers, the explanation changed. I was then told that a part of my order was missing and needed to be located. Despite this, nobody could provide a clear timeline or a satisfactory explanation for the delay.
On 7 May, I exercised my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and cancelled the contract because the service had not been carried out within a reasonable time. Even after cancelling, I received further emails discussing the missing part rather than addressing my refund.
It is now 24 June, and I still have not received my deposit back. The lack of communication, constantly changing explanations, and failure to process a refund have been extremely frustrating.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering Hillarys to think carefully before placing an order.
