There is this male escort called Tony Romeo who operates as a fake tour guide in Hanoi!
Overly priced tours he conducts, and he is barely able to explain anything in English well! He is constantly on apps like Grindr to find new victims.
Tony Romeo would also bring you to shops to do your souvenir shopping at exorbitant pricing, so that he can get his commission from stalls!
Beware!
Do not fall victim to this fake guide!

I am writing this review to warn fellow travellers about this scammer in Hanoi, Vietnam who goes by the name of Tony Romeo, operating Instagram account @tonyromeo98
This guy claims to be a fully licensed tour guide in Vietnam, however, he had disappeared after collecting money on the first day of the tour.
He was nowhere to be seen for day 2 and day 3!
Repeated calls were all unanswered and messages to the mobile were read, but not replied too!
This is obviously a scam in Hanoi! He disappeared with USD 340 from us, without providing the tours that he had promised to do so!
Further checks on the internet have shown that this guy is operating in a manner to scam unsuspecting tourist to Hanoi and also operates as a male escort, appealing to many sugar daddies for support in his Hanoi tours!
Please spread this message for awareness, to prevent others from getting scammed in Hanoi, Vietnam!
I booked Tony for a full day tour on 12/2022 through Hanoi houseboys. He communicated prior to the trip and showed up as scheduled. I felt he did a fine job. I then had him additional days-no issues.
This is extremely irresponsible to take advantage of tourist in a foreign land!
Strongly urge those that have been cheated by this Tony Romeo to report to the Tourist authority in Hanoi to prevent others from falling prey!

Tony Romeo insist is to pay for our 5 days tours in full on the first day of our meet-up!
We pay for 5 days tour and this guy did not turn up on the last day, which was to go Halong Bay!
We paid USD120 per person (total 240 for 2 persons) to go to Halong Bay day trip with Tony, not only did he fail to appear with any explanations!
We checked that a day trip to Halong Bay only costs USD38 at the Old Quarters area!
Tony Romeo is a scam artist!

Firstly, it is way over priced, there are proper free tours done by Hanoi students of the old quarters!
Secondly, this "expert local guide" knows nuts of the the location. He is just merely accompanying you around the city!
A food tour that cost 50USD, this guide only brings you to 4 places to eat and drink 4 items, which the total amount is less than 300k Viet Dong, 13USD!
This guy claims to be an expert in South East Asia, but it's a sham! Doesn't even know his places well enough!
He is at very most a male escort that follows clients around overseas!
Beware and book at your own risk!

Really bad experience with this so called local tour guide called Tony Romeo in Hanoi, whose real name should be Nguyen Dung!
First, his tours are conducted in a very messy manner, you find yourself darting from place to place within the Old Quarters in a complete mess trying the food, which he does not explain.
The so called secret places to eat that he introduces have already been featured on so many travel bloggers website with instructions on how to get there, example, Dinh cafe which served excellent egg coffee.
Little is done to orientate you or to point out landmarks while you make your way on the messy tour with Tony Romeo.
Tony Romeo tends to overprice tours, example, quoted a day trip to Halong Bay, based on sit in tour with another company, at USD 120, however, such tours are only going at USD 38. It is a horrible experience to be ripped off in such a manner in a foreign land!
Also, his English skills are barely good at all, and he has the audacity to correct your English, when English is the lingua franca used in my country!
To add salt to the wound, this so called tour guide is not with you through out the tour! He is extremely busy on his apps on his mobile phone sourcing for more customers and prey!
Definitely advise everyone to beware of Tony Romeo whose services are widely advertised on Holiday Houseboys Hanoi!
