We just closed on a property in Perdido Key and reached out to Gulf Coast Insurance. At first, the owner, *** (we think she's the owner) was easy to reach and seemed nice.

But then, on March 3rd, we got a letter saying our flood insurance would go up by almost 300%. We were originally quoted around $800, but now it's over $1,500! We called and talked to one of ***'s staff who said FEMA raised the premium because our property lacks certain 'mitigation' elements. But our property actually has more than what FEMA requires. The assistant we spoke to didn't know that.

The last thing we heard from Gulf Coast was that they were looking into other insurance options that might be cheaper. That was about 2 weeks ago, maybe longer. We've called the agency multiple times since then, but every time they say *** isn't available. We asked her to call us back, but she hasn't. It's really frustrating. And this morning (April 2nd), they won't even pick up the phone!

When we were shopping for insurance, *** was easy to reach. But now she's really hard to get hold of. This is not what we would call good 'customer service' at all. We definitely recommend looking elsewhere for insurance.

On April 21 at 12:10 pm, I called Gulf Coast Insurance and talked to Ms. La___. I asked for a quote for insurance for our ministry. She said someone would contact me with the information. On April 29 at 1:43 pm, I called again and spoke to another staff member. I told them I hadn't received an email or phone call about the insurance quote for our church. They said they would check with Ms. La___ and that someone would reach out to me by the end of the day. On May 3 at 1:49 pm, I called again because I still hadn't heard anything. I reminded Ms. La___ that I had spoken to her on April 21st and hadn't received any information. I just needed a quote for Hazard insurance with Extended Coverage. She apologized and said she was waiting for another company to send her a quote because she only had one company's quote. She also said they like to have at least three quotes before sending them to me so I can choose. She said someone would call me before the end of the day. On May 17th at 2:42 pm, I called again and explained that I was waiting for La___ to get back to me about the quote for our church. The staff member checked and said they saw the request. They said they would have one of the agents call me back today. Today is May 21st, 9:54 am, and I still haven't received an email or call from this company. If they don't want to help me, they should just be honest and tell me! Yes, I could have given up and called another company, but no, they said they would get back to me!
