I don't use this set of pans often because they are crummy. But I decided to toast a piece of bread for avocado toast, November 28, 2022.. I had the flame on medium and the bread in the pan for about 2 minutes, with my back to the stove. All of a sudden, I heard a really loud pop, like a pressurized wine bottle exploded. Not a pop of a cork, mind you, but as if the bottle itself had blown. I felt a whoosh behind my head and ducked, then looked to the windows thinking someone had shot a bullet into my home. I didn't think of the pan although I had turned it off before going through my whole place trying to find out what had exploded. It occurred to me to check the pan, and sure enough, one of the two rivets that holds the handle in place had blown off. I found it after much searching the following day, 14 feet from the stove. All I could think of was what if that had hit me in the back of the head, the eye, the neck/jugular vein, with the force it had to have had?! It left a shorn, sharp edge of the remainder of the rivet. I contacted the company and was told I'd hear back but I did not so I called again and was told to call someone named Josie who "would want to know this", per the customer service rep who directed me to her. Josie was unmoved by my story, while I was wondering if I should sue the company for the danger and the potential lethal harm it could have caused. She focused on refunding me the cost of the pan or replacing it. I told her I have no interest in replacing these pans because I don't like them, and reimbursing me a couple of dollars in this situation was ludicrous. She told me to ship the pan back to her and she would be sure the company research and development (my guess as to whom she was referring) received it. It has been over a month and I have heard absolutely nothing from the company.
Have had the frying pan approximately a year and the inside coating is wearing off. It also has scratches. I have not used any abrasive cleaners or materials on it. I’ve mainly used it for cooking salmon and have used olive oil. Purchased at Walmart in Urbana Illinois
