GFL has a monopoly on trash pickup in Michigan and rural customers are paying for their fuel. In 2020, my three month rate was $55. Today it is $123.50 because I live in a rural area. Customers who live in populated areas, like Traverse City, still pay only $55. This is robbery. GFL has shown large profits in recent years. Why are their customers paying their operational costs? I contacted them directly and they claim it is due to higher operational expenses. Then why hasn’t everyone’s bill more than doubled?
