Georgia Power 868.00 for one month on 2500 sf house with 2 adults and tstats set at 77 degrees.

Our power bill is outrageous, and something has to be done about these greedy power companys. How is it possible that this is an acceptable or reasonable power bill... It is not... There is no way it costs this much to provide electricity unless the government regulators are sleeping or on the take. Dont make us pay for the others who wont pay for there own services, I dont have it.

I know 868.00 dollars for one month is not much to you but I cant afford it... Period...

Desired outcome: Verify all meters and power lines leading to my property is free from any types of power seepage or drainage. a comparison of power bills on other homes of similar size in the area. list measures to reduce bill 50% reduction

Georgia Power Electric service

Everytime the wind blows a little and it rains a little,we lose electricity which is suppose to be provided by GA power..

This occurred again today, July 22,2023..

Our power went out at approx 12:30 am and at 6 am the power was still OFF. At 6 am there was no rain, and very little wind. There was no indication of GA power even in the area as neighbors did have power. This occurred in savannah, GA on Salt Creek Rd.

Seems like every time we have an outage somebody comes out and resets something,as this has occurred numerous times.

Pls fix the continuous problem in this area.

Desired outcome: Fix the problem that reoccurs every time the wind blows a little and it rains a little. As if we have major weather outages from really dangerous storms we will for sure be stuck with freezer and refrigerator full of spoiled food.

Georgia Power Power outage, frequent and long lasting

Finally, took me hours to find a way to contact them & I am very aware that the chances of this writing just being deleted are high.

1460 River Cove Road, Social Circle, GA. 30025

678-305-**** not like anyone will call me 😂, customer services is non existent. Been searching online for contact numbers since they are pros at hiding and not wanting to interact with their paying customers. Online reviews of customer service shows the lowest percentage rating of a large company I have ever seen. Now we have to sit in our house again tomorrow with this god awful heat. My mother is elderly and is going through chemo & radiation due to stage 4 cancer & I am fully disabled and have diabetes. 😔

We deal with this outage crap every few weeks. Just was out 2 weeks ago for 26 hours.

I am a retired police officer and worked with there crews during hurricane katrina, Ike, Gustav & sandy. The Crews were top notch people and this makes no since whatsoever.

Even the AI computer system gets rude when asking for a human & says some BS & disconnects the call.

I am about to move from this area due to the power being out every time the wind blows and on average every 5 or 6 weeks it is going to be down and it is always an extended time. Usually over 24 hours. It’s absolutely ridiculous. This crew here is completely incompetent.

There is under ground power here and this shouldn’t be an issue. Whats strange is the first 2 houses on our road not far away and houses 300 yards behind us on the opposite part of our circle in the neighborhood have power and my mother was told years ago it is because we are on a different grid. Whatever this means, how can we get off this grid and onto our neighbors grid?

Our power goes out of even a slight wind or small storm comes through.

Power has been out since about 1830 & the automated system is saying it will be out until 2200, July 21.

Power was just out couple weeks ago for 26 hours & I was just buying and replacing all the food that ruined in my frig and now another $250 worth of food is going to ruin.

I have drove around my area 4 times since the power went out. We have a circle road that goes around our neighbor hood in River Cove. No sighting of Georgia power nowhere. Same as 2 weeks ago. Was out for 26 hours and they finally showed up right before dark the next day. 😕

This is absolutely the most incompetent Crew that serves this area or the system is completely jacked up or most likely combination of both. Never seen a crew sit on there but and not come out until the next evening like these do. I have been here now for about 2 years. You can bet that on average, the power is going to be down every 6 weeks or less. They don’t bother with clearing limbs on roads hanging over power lines. They just wait for one to fall and then chill for a day or so & show up days later. All areas I used to live in, southern company had companies like asplund clearing these on a regular basis.

Ridiculous, I am retired & have lived in several states and this place by far is the worse. And our neighbor hood is all underground lines. Makes no sense. 😑

Montgomery AL. area, we would see crews out usually within an hour or less of the outage assessing the situation. And absolutely impossible to get a person on the line. Something they said few years ago about the grid we are on. First 2 houses on our road and houses 300 yards away behind us on the opposite circle road have power.

The slightest wind blows and bam, outage for a day or more. We joke that no one sneeze while outside or the power will go off. 😂

Desired outcome: nothing, because I am 100% certain all the emails I sent them will be deleted most likely well before my power is restored, I think since it’s 0436 in the morning & I can’t sleep due to the heat that I am just venting 😂

Georgia Power Very poor customer service

Atlanta GA 30308

To Whom It May Concern,

You really need to review the way your customer service handle calls concerning a deceased loved one. Out of all Mama’s utilities Georgia Power was by far the worse. I sent in the death certificate 3 times before they received it. Then I was told the person received could not help me. I was also told 2 to 3 days before it would be added to the account. This has been going on since June 10. My Mom passed away on June 7. I informed them several times the checking account was closed.

One person said he removed the auto pay for me. That was not completed. Sorry for your loss, I can’t help you. Sorry for your loss, I can’t help you. That’s what I heard over and over. Today I spoke with a young lady who directed me how to remove the auto pay from Mom’s account. Without any personal information released.

You need to make it easier for people who are mourning. We were hurting losing our Mom. Make it easier to take care of deceased person's service. Accept a funeral notice. You need to show empathy. If you can you need to help them. You also need to make it easier. Why should I email information 3 times? Guess what even though the auto pay was removed, Ga Power sent payment through. It bounced.

I know you don't care about this email. I know it will be trashed. I worked for customer service for 14 years. I cared about my customers. This was someone's Mom or Dad. I hope I never need to deal with you again.

Georgia Power Meter and light bill

I moved into my in house who had a set bill of over 440 dollars a month. I asked for them to change or check the meter when we moved in 3 years ago. I was told that the bill always been that high there. They would not come do a meter check.

Now they want to change my flat bill from 440 to 569.00 a month. This is this a one bedroom small house. They really need to see about thia meter. There is no way we should be paying a bill higher then the mortgage!

Desired outcome: Come check or upgrade meter

Georgia Power electricity

It is unlawful to demand payment as this country is in Bankruptcy and there is no money. Georgia Power is demanding money from me and continuously restricting my service. Account number [protected] they hold is in the name of my trust account, which was set up by the government for me to discharge. They are accessing this account, and still unlawfully demanding money from me that does not exist. Georgia Power Deception about flat rate

This is the letter I sent to the Public Service Commission. I have also filed a complaint with the BBB. I feel this is straight up deception on the part of GA Power.

Reference: Account #[protected]

After moving to Baldwin and allowing time to average our power bill. In 2019 I called Ga Power and requested Budget Billing. I know I requested Budget Billing because I had been on Budget Billing with Jackson EMC for years and liked not having huge fluctuations in my bill. I was unaware there was a Flat Bill program. At no point was a second option of a Flat Rate Bill ever mention nor did I realize I was placed on a Flat Rate Billing method or for that matter even know what it was or want to be on that type billing until 3/22/23 at 4:30pm. During the call on 3/22/23 and upon asking several questions which the representative was very vague with her answers about I found out I was on a Flat Rate Bill. I asked her to explain, and she again was very vague, so I did my own research. Much to my dismay I found out I have been overpaying for power for years! I also recalled a conversation in April of 2022 when I received notice of my new billing amount which was almost double the previous year. Again, it was never mentioned I was on a Flat Rate Bill. I asked why it was so high only to be rudely told I used that much power so I assumed it was on our end and that was what it would take to get caught up. We did have some live in guest for a while. Again, no mention of Flat Rate Billing on the April 2022 call either. On 3/22/23 I called Ga Power back after doing some research to find out what the Flat Billing is. That representative was much more helpful. She gave me what my actual bill amounts were for the past 10 months. The actual amount of my bill is not reflected on the bills nor is the rate per KW. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told they probably wouldn’t do anything about it but she would email my request. I received a call on 3/27/23 at 1:51pm from Ms. Bailey and she left a message stating to call customer service that she put notes on my account. I found out on my call back that she had denied any refund based on the account being on Flat Rate since 2019.

I don't mind at all paying for the power we used but due to the circumstances and being misled by more than one representative I feel, an investigation is warranted. I also question how many more people have been taken advantage of in this way. I would also like for Ga Power to rectify this situation with a full audit of my account. I feel I was deliberately misled and deceived in this situation.

To recap

I originally request Budget Billing

At no point did I know about, receive information on or request Flat Rate Billing

I would like an audit of my account to the start of the Flat Rate Billing and an adjustment made in the form of a check.

I would like an investigation of Georgia Power on the matter of Flat Rate Billing and if they are explaining this to their customers.

Public Service Commissioner filed 3/27/23

BBB Complaint filed 3/27/23. Your temporary complaint ID is 117586

Desired outcome: I would like a full audit of my account done and the overage we have paid sent in the form of a check.

Georgia Power Placed on flat rate bill when requested budget bill

Georgia Power Opening of a new account and revenue services.

I have tried to open a new account with ga power and upon opening and paying the deposit, an employee of the revenue department (kevin) stop new connection saying that I owed a balance which was brought to my attention and he was stating that my social was not my social and I could not open an account after I stated that this has been my social for 24 years he said that not the issue and stated that I had to pay $600 for me to establish service and I had already paid $220 that morning thinking that my lights would be turned on. It is 32 degres in atlanta, ga to cold to be without power and I have a documented medical fragile child that has a tracheotomy. I asked could I at least be put on pre pay he said no pay $600 and then you can and said he will email me assistance places. When I was talking to him I stated that I had to send in all my info to have a pin removed that I did not put on my account or authorize he stated "oh I did that" I asked why when I did not authorize that or ask for a pin on my account. It was taken off but now when I tried to pay it was in my account again and I cant do anything. This is a burden a unprofessional to have an employee just decide to do things to people accounts. My lights not on I cant make a payment I cant do anthing but wait until I send in my info again and have the pin removed. Our goal is outstanding customer service and customer satisfaction, while providing power for prices well below the national average. How is that standing to what you belive in?

Desired outcome: provide better costumer service to citizens. How can someone play with sensitive information without asking the consumer

Georgia Power Residential service

I need the power on at 973b N. Main ST, Clayton, GA 30525. I have paid you $95.00, and sent you a copy of my late mother’s trust designating me as a trustee of that estate by email as you request. I am her son. There is absolutely no reason to take this long to get the power on and I have never had this difficulty with Georgia Power in the past… never had to file a complaint before.

Desired outcome: PLEASE TURN POWER ON AND NOTIFY ME WHEN DONE.

Georgia Power Rebate for heat pump.

Georgia Power Permanent power

We have been waiting 2 months for a permanent power hook up on an existing residence (new home build, but it’s a re-build after a fire destroyed previous home). After 1 month, we finally got the engineers phone number, Bob. It took us 2 full weeks to even get a response from Bob, then when he did answer us at the beginning of January he told us twice he would look at the current residence. The first time he didn’t even go out. The second time, he did go out, but then it took another full 7 days to even get his response and when we finally did, he told us 3 separate answers over a period of 3 days, none of which were clear. After MANY phone calls trying to reach him over a period of another 3 days, he finally answered and said he was going to put the work order in. At this rate, we don’t believe anything he says. Bob has put us behind on our home build because of his lack of work ethic. He completely ignored us and is not taking anything we say seriously. He needs to be formally written up or fired if this is not the first time this has happened. We are extremely unhappy with this service.

Desired outcome: Permanent power installed Monday, January 16, 2023. Bob formally written up for lack of communication and simply ignoring his duties as a Ga Power Engineer.

Georgia Power Denial of claim for damages

On December 21st morning, I saw electric sparkling fire inside my oven and the oven was not even turned on. Then my lights were flickering. I called electric technician and found out it was power surge neutral wire damage under ground. I called Georgia Power and they sent a technician and attached a transformer to panel outside the house.

With the transformer, it was back to normal. However, I was not able to turn on my heater downstairs. I called TE certified again. Then found out my heater was damaged by power surge.

The next day, two contractors came over to fix the cable under ground. I called Georgia Power to file a claim on the damage heater and oven. However, I got I got denied. The reason I got was the cable was damaged by another company.

I called my fiber company and they told me the last time they were here was Sept 2021. There was no digging the ground when fiber was connected.

The two contactors told me they took some photos of the damage cable. I asked to see the photos and got denied again. I think I should have the right to see the photos of the damaged cable if you don't to pay for the damages, proof to me that it's not the fault of Georgia Power.

Desired outcome: Proof to me the power surge is not the fault of Georgia Power if you don't want to pay for my damages.

Georgia Power unauthorized account

I, Ricky Howell, contacted GA Power in reference to putting electricity in my name for my property located at 574 E Oak St McRae, GA 31055. This property was purchased approximately 5 years ago but the power bill was never changed from the previous owner, Brian Graham.

GA Power advised me there was an outstanding balance for a property located on Second Ave in Scotland, GA 31083. I have never resided in Scotland or had any property in Scotland and have not given anybody authorization to use my personal information to obtain power in my name. I have filed a report with my local law enforcement for identity theft.

A police report is available if needed.

Desired outcome: investigate who authorized an individual permission to open an account without my signature and without them providing any identification to prove their identity. Im not responsible

Georgia Power Excessive power bill

On 9/16/2022 I received my Georgia Power bill. Shockingly it was $423.45 with usage at over 2600 kWh. (see attached graph) My previous bill was 116.55 at 796kWh usage. In fact my average bill is usually between $90.00 and $125.00. My usage graph which is very average and flat shows a HUGE spike for the 9/16 period. A definite red flag! I called GA Power repeatedly, GA Power came out and replaced the meter but since then I have contacted them numerous times and they continue to maintain that the billing in accurate yet they can't explain how the usage was so abnormally high for that month. I have never had a bill remotely that excessive in the 13 years I've been in my 900 square foot condo. I live by myself. I have a smart HVAC thermostat, use LED bulbs exclusively (most are out when not in use), rarely run the dishwasher, use the washer and dryer maybe one a month and always conserve power as much as possible. There is just no possibility that I used over 2600 kWh in a 30 day period. I will call them again, I will contact Clark Howard at channel 2 consumer watch dog if I have to. But I will not accept this excessive billing. It's not correct!

Desired outcome: My desired outcome is someone from GA power call me, acknowledge the usage spike and billing mistake for that period, take an average usage/ monthly payment amount, and credit my account.

Georgia Power I want my power bill to be cleared of all charges since I have paid what I owe but not be charged for a service I didn't use.

I was schedule to move into a apartment 9/3/2022 but I never moved in. They are still trying to charge me for a service I never used because I call in the disconnect at a later date. Instead of confirming my situation with the complex they are saying get the complex to reimburse me which I highly doubt they would do. The right thing to do would be to charge the complex for the service especiallysince they moved a tenant in on the date in question 9/16/2022.

Georgia Power Electric service

So I started out on prepay at my address, then thought hey when I pay my past due balance I can go back to regular ga power and not prepay. Well fast forward to now, my elderly mom was staying in an apartment and she advised ga power she was moving in with her daughter. My mom stated she was discombobulated and confused but wanted answers to her questions. But instead of the rep being mindful of her words they forced her into straight billing and closed my prepay account without my permission or notifying me. The address in question is a house I inherited so their should be no way my service should have been cut off but it was, I was never notified about the change until it hit my credit report. Now we got a problem because the bill is much higher than my fixed rate of $7.55+ tax daily. They heard the recording and immediately stated my mom was confused and discombobulated but the rep was only wanting the service sale.

Desired outcome: My past due balance needs to be $0.00 and taken off my credit because they closed my account without my permission or consent and without contacting me. Then I need my fixed rate of $7.55+ tax reinstated on my account.
