I own a 2018 Chevy Traverse that recently developed a transmission problem. I took it to a transmission specialist, who said he would not rebuild this transmission because of known issues. I then brought the vehicle to a Chevy dealer, and they recommended replacing the transmission at a cost of more than $9,000. After researching online, I found reports of transmission problems with some 2018 Traverses, including recalls related to this issue. However, when I checked my VIN with GM, my vehicle was not included in the recall. I have owned more than 15 GM vehicles, and I am disappointed that GM is not standing behind its product. The next time I shop for a vehicle, I will not be considering a GM.

Let me get this straight: you’ve owned over 15 GM vehicles, a transmission specialist refuses to touch yours because they know it’s flawed, the dealer wants $9k to replace it, and GM hides behind a VIN loophole while the same problems exist in the same model year? That’s not a quality issue anymore — that’s a loyalty tax. You’ve been patient long enough. I’d escalate straight to GM executive relations, not customer service. Attach the specialist’s note about known issues. If they still say no, follow through on your word: take those 15 vehicles’ worth of loyalty elsewhere. Honda, Toyota, even Ford treats repeat buyers better than this.
