FreshCo review: Failing to honour display price

This complaint relates to the Freshco on Non 2 & Blundell Road, Richmond, BC. My son and I went there around 12:40 pm on June 5, 2020. I picked up a pack of ice-cream bars from the freezer section. The display price was $4.47. When I took it to the cashier, a young girl, she said it was $7.49 and I told her the displayed price was $4.47. She then came with us to the freezer section and checked out all of the prices for a good 3-4 minutes and we went back to the checkout. The cashier then said she had to call the manager because she did not have the authority to do the transaction. The manager, a middle-aged woman, came to the checkout and we went back again to the freezer section. The manager then rummaged around the display for a few more minutes and said the price bar for the bottom rack had accidentally been turned over and the price was actually $7.49. I politely asked her if she would honour the $4.47 as that had been the only price on display when we picked up the ice-cream. However, she refused point blank and told me quite rudely that the price was $7.49 and that was that. She then adjusted the price tag bar for the bottom shelf and walked away.
We shop frequently at this Freshco and I was shocked at the manager's attitude and inflexibility. It took two store employees over five minutes to figure out the price of the ice cream bars, but she was unwilling to admit the mistake and honour the displayed price. I too am in the service industry and if I had been the manager, I would have adjusted the display to show the correct price and honoured the price that had been previously displayed to the customer. What a truly horrible and off-putting experience.
