Good Afternoon,
My wife and I bought a pickup, a 2014 Ram 2500, from First National Auto Sales in Seattle WA on Jan 1st 2026. The pickup had aprox 105K miles on it. While there, we were talked into an extended warranty package from First Automotive. 5 months later, the engine suffered an epic failure. We hadn’t even driven it long enough to have it serviced. We took it to Bud Clary, the Dodge dealership in Moses Lake WA. They diagnosed the problem and said the engine did in fact need replacement. I gave them the contract information to First Automotive. The Service Manager took care of contacting them, First Automotive said it would be no problem, but they wanted to send out an inspector to verify the damage. A week after the inspector came, the service manager called me and said they denied the claim. He said they didn’t tell him why, just that they weren’t going to cover it. It took 10 days for me to get a hold of one of the little labradoodles at First Automotive, because NO ONE from First Automotive called me, emailed me, or texted me, anything going on with my pickup. The Rep said that they denied the claim because there was dirt in the throttle body. I told him that I don’t care if there was Cherrios in the throttle body, I didn’t put it there, so nothing I did led to where we are today, I didn’t own it long enough to have it serviced, it’s never been on a gravel road let alone 4x4 ing around. None of you people will tell me what’s going on or how you get to just arbitrarily decide you’re not covering it. I feel like my wife and I did the things necessary to protect our investment and we’re getting screwed by you guys and the dealership we bought the pickup from, because obviously the pickup had a problem when we bought it. We put every extra penny we had into buying this pickup, so we could pull our RV around when we retire, and now I’m paying for a pickup I can’t drive. We are having to pay for this, out of our savings. Because we have to have the truck back. Our son is stationed in Japan, we had been saving up to go to Japan next year to visit him, now we’re buying an engine for a pickup when we shouldn’t have to. This isn’t over, I’m not just going to “let it go”. I will be getting a lawyer and we can let the courts hash it out. I will be leaving every bad review possible related to your company, and anything I can do to bring awareness to what crooks the extended warranty companies are.
Sincerely,
Dave Dye
