There are people who attend DeVry with high hopes of completing college with little to no issues, like me. I started almost a month ago and now I believe my DeVry enrollment counselor has scammed me. Why do I say scammed? Well, it wouldn't feel like a scam if communication was clear concerning my student account. I had a student account rep call, and I missed the call because I was doing homework-being studious. By the way, I have 100% in my class and I attend every session.
When I finally got a chance to call back, my student account advisor was not available and I got another student accounts rep who advised me that the reason for the call was that they were looking for $700 payment. This shook me to the core because number 1, I signed a form for a deferred payment because my employer pays for tuition reimbursement, 2 my enrollment counselor told me that payment would not be due until after my first class. If that was the truth, why am I getting a call about payment? I immediately called my enrollment counselor, and she deferred me to the student accounts advisor. I asked why she was telling me to speak to them when it was her who told me that my deferred payment wouldn't be due until after my class. I even asked her during one of our enrollment sessions if I needed to apply for financial aid and she said no, you will pay after your first class. Now after reminding her of her words to me, she was very dismissive and told me to speak to the student accounts rep. I am totally frustrated because if I am being asked for payment now, it was not truthfully disclosed that this would be the case, otherwise I would have applied for financial aid to cover it up front. I am very very disappointed and if this is not resolved, I will find another institution.
