DentalPlans.com Discount plan not accepted anywhere around here. Automatic renewal without authorization.

Got the plan right before the pandemic 2/2020. Took months before I could get in to see one of the dentists on their list. Had to pay full price because they didn't accept my discount card. Just realized they've been taking money from my bank account every year since 2/2022. Selling something that doesn't exist is stealing

DentalPlans.com Dental Plans.com

I bought the Sele Dent plan in 2021. The plan was obselete and I was not told. I found out myself when the doctors did not accept the plan. I was refunded. Before accepting another plan, I spoke to an agent for over an hour. I settled on Avia. I was disappointed to find that some of the doctors were not in the offices, some numbers were disconnected, some doctors were not known when I contacted the numbers and the one doctor that accepted the plan, was not the professional that I needed for the procedure I planned to get. I found that none of the doctors accepted Avia either. I called Dental Plans. com and they assured me that I would get a supervisor call back. Not only did that never happen, but I had to call them. Several calls later, I got Miguel in Dominican Republic who suggested the Aetna Plan of which he could not give me a price of the procedure I needed to get done. He asked me for a code and doctor to get a price. If I am not a customer of Aetna, how would I be able to provide that information? They have the doctors in their network for the plans they offer along with the prices, they should be telling me that. I called the corporate office and left several messages on different lines in different departments. I paid for a service and I cannot utilize it. They advertise that there is no wait, but I am still waiting to use the service. I am in danger of getting an infection on that tooth if its not serviced soon. Someone should be periodically checking on the doctors in the network to assure that they are still participating in the plan, that they still have the same number, that the doctor is still in the office and that there are no changes. This way, the customer is not paying for a service that they are not getting. Updates should be made regulary to the plans and if one is obselete, the customers who paid should be notified immediately. I am not pleased with this service and I would like something to be done. If a plan change is recommended, then Dental Plans should be absorbing the difference in price change or office procedure fees.I should not pay for a service for a year, then be restricted from using because of poor network plan followup procedures. In addition, the corporate numbers are messages only, there is no one to talk to there either. It seems to me that the poor business practices of ignoring paid clients have trickled down from the corporate offices, to the supervisors and now delivered to customers. I believe that my attorney would be the next step in this process If I am again ignored regarding my concerns.

Desired outcome: Make up for any difference in plan change and procedure fees if another plan is required

DentalPlans.com Aetna dental discount

Since there seems to be so much confusion i am going to explain. Every year or every other year the dentist receives a new contract from Aetna. When you CONTRACT with the PPO (dentist) you are automatically contracted with the discount plan. It is the responsibility of the dentist, or the office manager to know what they are signing up for. The insurance plan is not trying to TRICK you, the dental offices are legally bound to the contract. It is their responsibility to read before they sign. The insurance company is only going off of the list of dentist who signed up for the plan. I have been a dental office manager for 7 years and sold insurance for 7. I have been in the dental field for 17 years total. This is how it works. Please make sure to check with YOUR dentist for pricing its based on their contract with AETNA and everyone is unique.

My Husband David bought a dental plan 1 Nov 2018. He made an appointment with listed provider, in Three Rivers, MA and waited 3 weeks. He went to the listed provider and they no longer took this plan. He made an other appointment with another, listed provider, in Sturbridge, MA for 27 Dec 2018 and found the same issue. They no longer took the plan.
We filed for a refund and were told our 30 day trial, refund window had expired.! It ran out while we waited for appointments with providers that were listed but no longer took the plan.
Who's fault is it that the list were out dated. We should get our money back. He was never able to use it!
This is nothing but a scam... robbery!

DentalPlans.com dental discount plan

This is a major scam operation!
I can not understand how the authorities did not bust this scammers so far.
They will be nice and they will promise you Great discounts on dental treatments. You will be so happy to believe that you are going to save hundreds and even thousands of dollars off the dental services you or your child need. They will provide you with list of participating dentists.
You can pick either one. None of them is going to honor the discounted rates that were promised you! None!
Forget about the free xray! Forget about the 2 free teeth cleaning that was promised to you! When you will call back to inquire and complain they will no longer be nice and polite with you! What for? The sucker already swallow the bait. I lost $164.95. Even though I called and complained they got the nerve to auto renew my membership. Is this a joke. While I am writing this I am on hold on their line. I called and asked not to charge my credit card. A representative put me on hold for 8 minutes until I realize no one is going to take my call. I called again, put on hold again.
Stay away from this scammers. Do not waste your money. I know that dentists are expensive - BUT you are not going to save any money with this plan. As a matter of fact you will simply lose the membership money, pay regular prices for dentists and will ad tons of frustration to your life.

STAY AWAY!

DentalPlans.com Porcelain crown with high noble metal

I just became a member in July 2016 and I was unhappy with their service and inaccurate quotes within the first two weeks. Prices for dental procedures are bogus with dentists that they recommend. If I ask my dentist to call the customer service number they say that the price is what they quoted me which was double on the web schedule said. We I ask the customer service of dental plans, com they say that the dentist must call them. When nothing is solved. They claim no responsibility.

I asked for a refund and they refused claiming that my compliant was not in the 30 day period. I asked them to send me a record of my calls and they claimed that none were recorded.

This is a price scam meant to get people to join and then keep keep from refunding your money for 30 days no matter how many complaints you file.

DentalPlans.com Cancelation

Went on line to cancel my dental plan and was told I would have to call. Proceeded to call and waited on hold for 25 minutes only to be told that I was unable to cancel. When I asked the lady why their live chat personnel told me to call to cancel if it was not possible she said that is policy. How ridiculous is your policy that a person employed by your company on a live chat with a client can't just say you are unable to cancel. Then she says that they will have to call me to renew so I can cancel then, so I asked her why they did not call me last time I was to renew? She said I just added it to my profile on July 3rd, 2013 but my renewal date was August 11th and they renew 30 days prior. Again I said I never received a call and she then changed it to 30 business days. I was so frustrated I hung up on the operator. Just be honest with people whether its on live chat or a phone call and don't waste my time.

I was looking to sign up for a dental plan, but, finding a few complaints really have made me nervous. I signed up for a plan today, I saw something that could be useful for other members.
In their list of "Member FAQs", it does provide "guidance" to change your plan from the default of an auto renew to receive notification, which I hope will help prevent charges from being made unexpectedly.

15. When will my plan renew?
Plans are renewed up to 45 days prior to your plan expiration date, to ensure there is no lapse in membership and to offer continued savings on your dental care needs. Your plan will be renewed under the terms on your Member's Agreement.

When you select the "my account" link, it will bring you to a page that appears to give you access to change a few things in your account.
The links shown are: Member Profile, Member Information, Contact Preferences, Membership Renewal Options, and Payment Information.

The "Membership Renewal Options" provides the following choices:

* Please renew my plan automatically.
* Please contact me prior to my renewal.

Hopefully this is helpful, and relieves some concerns.

Same thing happened to me. They charged my credit card for a year renewal -$155. The customer service rep told me all their plans auto renew, but I was never aware of the autorenew. Normally, you must either check that you want auto renewal, or uncheck a box that auto competes as auto renewal.. I did not see either of these disclosures when I purchased the plan.
They advised that i was sent a letter about the auto renewal several months ago, however, I did not receive it. I did request a refund before the plan actually renewed, and was told they would refund all but the $15 processing fee. I disputed the processing fee, saying I shouldn't be charged anything. The CSR spoke to her supervisor, and they agreed to refund the $15. I think these practices are deceptive.

DentalPlans.com unauthorized change

My Mother subscribed for their plan in 2010 and paid with her debit card. Because the plan was so bad, she called and declined to renew for 2011. She just noticed a charge from them for 2013 and in researching with the bank confirmed that they charged her in 2012 as well (no services were received for the 2012 plan). She called to ask why they were charging her again, they told her they would refund the 2013 cost less $15 processing. Nice scam! Renew someone without their knowledge pocket the full amount if they don't notice and $15 if they do. My next contact is the BBB (an A+ rating)

Some how a charge of $147.46 from Dental Plans.com was posted to my account and they refused to credit my account unless I sent them a copy of my bank statement. The bank told me "we do not send any one a bank statement". So I have to wait 10 days while the bank does all of the work and go without food because these people are to lazy to look this up. on there tapes. NEVER do business with this kind of a company.

The $15 processing fee you mentioned is applied to all enrollments and renewals due to additional administrative costs associated with the purchase of dental plans. DentalPlans.com Scams

On Dec. 29, 2010- I called the Dental Office of Laura Koch, Warner Robins, GA dentist to ask them if they accepted DENTALPLANS.COM - discount program for discounts on dental services. The person took authority on herself to inform me that they did accept the plan. I went back on dentalplans.com to sign up and paid them right out of my bank account 104.95. I went back to Laura Koch, dental office and made an appointment. I had my appointment yesterday, Jan.13th and they would not accept it and said that they have not
had put a couple people to ask. Story changed AFTER they got my money. Where did that leave me? Out the 104.95 to dentalplans.com and the 171.00 at Koch's office. I have paid almost 300.00 and not received even as much as a teeth cleaning. They wanted the money for the services without asking, "Dental Plans, who?" I am holding the bag in this scam while they both bask in the explicit pleasure of having my money to spend on themselves.

This dentist office is one that will try to find something wrong just for the sake of price gouging. They are not honest and they are not really competent. A young [unfriendly] dentist was allowed to put fillings in my mouth and he screwed up so much that I have to go back to let them fix his mess. I will go back and let them do that, but that will be my last visit. I strongly advise against visiting this dentist, which only rewards their unethical behavior.

DentalPlans.com Serious Problem

I chose to join Careington dental plan on DentalPlan.com's site. DentalPlans.com charged me $114.95. I checked and Careington charges $32.95 on their site for their plan. Also, DentalPlans charged my card card TWICE, even though after inputting my info on DentalPlan's site, the screen said an "Error Occurred" and we cannot process your credit card. (No, I did NOT go back in and input it again; I closed out immediately) AND, it signed me up for not Careington's plan, but DentalPlans.com's service, whatever the heck that is. I got an e-mail from DentalPlans.com that said: "Thank you for contacting DentalPlans.com. We received your inquiry and will assist you as soon as possible." When I called Careington, they knew NOTHING about my wanting to join their plan. They are investigating. I am going after these guys big time. AND OH, it is incredible that DentalPlans.com ad is at the top of this website!

As someone who used to work in the discount dental plan industry for several years I can attest that most often it is foolish to purchase a dental plan even if you don't have dental insurance.
I have found when looking for a new dentist that they will often negotiate their fees below Careington's fee schedule and others fee schedules as well. It's a win win situation for both parties. You (the client) get a discounted rate and don't have to pay for Careington's fees and the dentist gets a new and loyal client.

DentalPlans.com VERY Clever Internet SCAM

1. I wanted to sign up for the Careington dental plan. DentalPlans.com came up first on Google. Their site showed Careington and asked if I wanted to join "this' plan (key word: "this"). I clicked on it, gave all my info including my credit card number.
2. When I finished entering my CC number and hit the process button, an error message came up: A technical error has occured and we cannot process your credit card (something along those lines).
3. My card WAS processed, I found out. It was for DentalPlans.com, NOT Careington Denal Plan.
4. You will not be able to reach them using their contact phone number. It only allows you to contact someone if you know a specific name and use their automated alphabetical directory. In other words, you will NOT be able to reach a receptionist or an operator.
5. I reached them via "Live Chat." When I typed they were in big trouble, Andrea immediately called me, sounding very nervous, and said right away they would refund my credit card.
6. TOO LATE for them. Both Careing Dental Plans and myself are going to follow this through to the end.

DentalPlans.com Scam Fraud

I have researched DentalPlans.com thoroughly. I have contacted a participating dentisy who had no idea what DentalPlans.com is even though they are signed up as a participant. Have called DentalPlans.com and verified the way the plans work in relationship to the member and dental provider.From what I have researched and come to understand is either DentalPlans.com is a total scam to collect from "members" giving a false impression to "providers" that they will receive any kind of reimbursement.What is the point of having insurance carriers listed next to a "provider's" business when they are not "providing" anything to either the "Member" OR the "Provider"?

CHECK CAREFULLY ON THE WEBSITE IT SAYS "view sample discounts" my dentist never heard of them yet he was on there site and they were advertising that my dentist took these "discount dental plans"

Dentists do not have a clue that they are a member of this site or any discount they provide. .The only winner in this "opportunity" is DentalPlans.com who collects and has nothing to provide.I wish I could give a zero star rating.

ALSO BEWARE THEY AUTO RENEWAL AS WELL HOPING YOU DON'T CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT TOTAL SCAM

DentalPlans.com Bogus Service

I joined Dentalplans.com for the Cigna Dental Network Access. I made an appointment with one of their listed providers, had a small cavity filled, but the discount was not what is noted on the Dentalplans.coms website.

I have checked other providers listed by this company and they have no idea what I am talking about. In addition, some of the providers aren't even practicing any longer.

This company should be looked into for these deceiving practices.

DentalPlans.com Untruthful Information

Since I can't afford dental insurance I looked for a savings/discount plan, that's how I got dentalplans.com, I decided to look for dentists that accept this plan, i found a dentist through THEIR WEBSITE near my home, I called and they had no idea what i was talking about, that was a sign .
So I called dentalplans.com to tell them that the information listed on their website was incorrect . The agent I talked to told me that probably that particular dentist recently had canceled their agreement, and that the info in their website is updated once a month . She sounded convincing, and offered me help to find the right plan for me, so I accepted and got a plan called "Solstice Plus Plan One" for $134.95, she said that this plan was the best because the fees were "set" with dentist and would never change, also that the office visits were free as well as the X-ray, I actually have the list with all fees for different services . I made an appointment for this morning, I had to get Xrays and a tooth extracted, when I was done I had to pay $240, 20 for the office visit ( that was suppose to be free ), and $220 for the tooth extraction ( according to their list $125).
I had no option but to pay $240 since I was in pain . when I got home I called dentalplans.com and explained the situation, the agent told me that the dentist i went to wasn't affiliated with them, unbelievable, I got it through their website even when i was talking to agent i could see the dentist name on my screen, not only that, i called the dentist office and they even said that they accepted the dental plan BUT that the fees I was provided with were not accurate.
End of the history, I just canceled my membership with dentalplans.com. I now need to get refund for $134.95.

What a waste of time, this type of companies shouldn't be out there giving incorrect information.

I've had the same thing happen to me with Solstice Dental. My dentist was listed on their web site and therefor I bought the dental plan from them. I even paid for the full year up-front. After my next scheduled appointment with my dentist for a cleaning that should have been covered, I find out that they sold me a HMO plan that my dentist does not take. I called Solstice about this and asked them to put me on a PPO plan that my dentist accepts and that this was all caused by their web site. They would not fix the issue and instead offered to cancel my plan with a full refund since I was sold the wrong plan and had not received any benefits. I just received my refund and they only gave me back 1/3 of the cost I paid. No one should do business with Solstice they false advertise and do not stand behind their own mistakes.

I'm glad to see that DentalPlans.com took the initiative to tender to a client's complaint. The last thing any company needs is a "bad rep". Word of mouth is the best defense we have as consumers, and consumers take bad complaints very serious.

DentalPlans.com Misrepresentation

I paid for the GE Wellness Plan because my daughter needed her wisdom teeth removed and she has no insurance. This plan specifically listed oral surgeons which I scheduled an appointment with. They said they had never heard of the plan. I called the dental plan office and they said to use a different plan name. I tried that and the oral surgeon's office still had never heard of it. I ended up paying over $2, 000 for my daughter's surgery. Then when I complained to the dental plan office they said it was too late to get my money back.

It is strange how comments about dentalplans.com that are positive and appear on deifferents review websites are just copied and pasted and have different names of senders although the text is identical... Seems like people are paid to submit good reviews in different places...

We first purchased a Aetna Dental from DentalPlans.com on May 23, 2006. This plan was ERRONEOUSLY renewed on May 11, 2008—TWELVE DAYS BEFORE IT EXPIRED.

I informed DentalPlans.com and was told it was corrected.

The next year, you renewed our plan on May 6, 2008—SEVENTEEN DAYS BEFORE IT EXPIRED.

I informed DentalPlans.com and was told it was corrected.

This year, once again, you are trying to cheat us out of seventeen days of coverage. I also note that you attempted to charge my credit card well in advance of the fraudulent due date as well.

In spite of repeated requests, this has not been resolved. Very dishonest company.

I bought GE Wellness dental plan a year and half ago, never used its benefit. The plan is renewed every six months. Last September we renewed the plan, shortly after, she got her dental insurance coverage thru employment

When we tried to cancel the plan, they told us all they could do is not to renew the plan when it expires six months later. We argued that it's not fair for us to pay a service that we'll never use. They give us no response.

Beware before you buy or renew.

DentalPlans.com Scam on automatic renewal!

DentalPlans.com ripped me off when I first bought a plan from them that was no good and was not accepted by any dentist, then one year later, they charged my credit card for an automatic renewal even though I reported to them from the beginning that I did not want their plan, that their plan was bunk, and I was very disappointed with their service.

After the first year, they charged my account without my permission another $129.95. I called them immediately to try to clear up the problem and get my money refunded and was told they would not charge my account. Five business days later, I checked my account and the charge of $129.95 from DentalPlans.com is still there. This company is a total rip off/con artist.

I have been having problems with the dentists that DO accept the dental plans. They are typically not dentists you would chose if you could go anywhere you desired. The choices are very limited.

My plan auto-renewed, without my knowledge, almost a full 2 month before it even expired. I requested a refund, and was told the 15 dollar processing fee was non-refundable. Awesome. I've purchased these plans in the past, and never had this happen, so I was completely unaware. I also don't use this particular bank account very often, so of course it overdrew costing me 50dollars in fees. Super awesome.Jerks. Never again.

My plan just auto renewed for $194 which is higher than advertised, they did it to me last year too and were supposed to refund excess amount of $79 and take me off auto renewal. I did not get money back and was hit again. When I called they transferred me to another department and when I said I did not have my acct number they hung up. After the third call I said not to transfer but put supervisor on and take care of reimbursement which they say will take 10 days and they will not refund overdraft fee's. STAY AWAY FROM DENTAL PLANS .COM

You have to remember it's a "plan" not insurance. Every state is different. We live in Florida...it is very affordable and saved us thousands of $'s! You can register an account online and check the option to not automatically renew. I question the charges up front at the dentist office so there is no surprises! All in all we are happy and plan to renew.

To benefit from the plans listed, you'll have to do your research. It'll pay off. I called my dentist and they said that the plans come in 2 forms: coverage backed by a major insurance carrier irregardless of the plan name (Aetna, Cigna, Humana...), or a membership plan where the dentist has to be a member (Careington...). My dentist will accept most plans backed by a major carrier but they needed to know what Fee Schedule to use. If they already accepted the Fee Schedule, they would charge me the discounted rates on that exact schedule. Major insurance carriers use different Fee Schedules. I called DentalPlans.com and found the names of the actual Fee Schedules for 3 plans: Preferred Network Access by Cigna uses Cigna PPO Fee Schedule, Aetna Dental Access uses Aetna PPO Fee schedule, and OptumHealth Allies uses Humana fee schedule. Even though my dentist was not on any of their lists, the dental office would accept the plans because they already used the 3 Fee Schedules and knew what to charge. (You'll need to check before buying any plan because the Fee Schedules might change at any time.)

So why not go directly to Atena, Cigna, or Humana? It's always good to try, but watch out for wait periods for some services, they might charge more, or longer activation times. Again, it pays to shop around.

After all this research, contacting my dentist's billing department, and comparing discounts/costs, I chose the Atena Dental Access plan using DentalPlans.com. DentalPlans.com was cheaper, and I was able to find a 25% discount code online. Note: DentalPlans acts as a broker for the various dental discount plans, the list of dentists is piped in to their site by the individual insurance companies, and may not be accurate. Even if you don't see your dentist or a good dentist listed, it pays to give the dentist a call and check if they accept the Fee Schedule/Discount Plan. After reading this blog I will not use DPs auto renewal, and have Bank of America issue a temporary credit card number with a set cash limit, so they cannot apply their glitchy auto renewal on my account. (One final note, when searching for a new dentist, look them up on Google Maps and read their reviews. Some dentist have great reviews, while others are scary with billing issues, unnecessary charges, poor quality control...)

Watch out folks.. I was very interested in this Discount Plan that DentalPlans.com offered..my dentist was on their list, I was thrilled! I called and asked a question about the plan and the guy who answered was very enthusiastic, "oh yes your dentist does have the plan", etc etc he tried to get me to sign up right then but I told him I wanted to be sure my dentist did in fact honor the plan. Im so glad I waited because my dentist had no knowledge of it. I called DentalPlans.com back and they said well, they just didnt recognize it because you told them the name of the card..tell them it is a dental discount plan by cigna ..so I call my dentist back and once again no..he did accept health insurance thru cigna but he had NEVER signed up for this dental discount plan, he had called DentalPlans.com to inquire about why his name was associated with it and was told that if a dentist signed up with Cigna or Aetna Insurance that they are automatically enrolled in this discount plan, but then it is up to them if they want to ACCEPT it or not...apparently they arent informed of it, because I have read other complaints online of other dentists having NO idea they are supposedly signed up with these dental discount plans...ANYWAY..so now we know the truth..my dentist was AUTMATICALLY ENROLLED and put on the website even though he had never signed up for it...so I called DentalPlans.com back and told a different person this time that my dentist who was listed with them said he had no idea about it..he says Oh yes your dentist IS listed, how did you describe the plan to him? I told him and he said well sometimes dentists get confused..I interupted and said no he is not confused, and that he had never signed up for it, that he was automatically enrolled but had never accepted it..the guy then says Oh yes that is possible! DUH well, if I had not checked with my dentist before purchasing I would have been ripped off! It is FALSE ADVERTISING when you have a list of dentists on your website as being part of a plan and they really ARE NOT.

I did my research before I put any money down... I was looking for a dentist in my area and found one that i liked. Before enrolling in the plan, I called up the dentist and found out that they didn't accept their plan. Also the average dental rates are completely off for the area that I live.

Thanks for this post. If I had not seen this my plan would have automatically renewed in April and I did not realize this. I just logged into my account and selected to NOT renew automatically. I've moved and the plan I had does not work here. I am buying another one though because it was great savings for me. I paid like, $130 for the card and I saved AT LEAST $1, 000.00 at the beginning of this year on a root canal and crown that I otherwise would have had to pay over $2, 000 for all parts of the procedures. Just make sure you change your settings in your account and they shouldn't automatically renew. These plans can save you tons of money, especially if you find one that saves you on vision, dental, chiropractic and fitness!

I came close to getting a plan from Dentalplans.com and the dentist I chose was listed as accepting 4 plans from this outfit. I called the dentist before jumping on the plan and he said he had never accepted any of these plans. When I contacted Dentalplans.com, they sent me an acknowledgement email and that was that. No further communications; however, they did want my address, phone number and other personal information undoubtedly to sell to other con artists. Glad I bypassed this outfit.
