early august 2024, my daughter purchase Apple Watch Series 9 on Courts online platform. after completing the online purchase, she waited for the item to deliver within 2 weeks. but after 3rd weeks, courts online customer agent called her informing her that there is no stocks available and need to wait for another 4 weeks for supplier.
unfortunately, after 4 weeks, another agent called and informed her that Apple no longer supply Apple watch series 9, and she given a option to purchase Apple Watch Series 10 with a top-up of differences or opt for a refund.
due to her budget constraint, she opt out and wanted a refund instead. but to her surprise, the agent informed her that the refund will be only done in a form of Courts vouchers.
My questions -
1. courts still accepting orders for Apple Watch Series 9 online when Apple shop is no longer selling - as I try to go online n did a purchase on Apple 9 watch - it show there is 1 stock available.
2. why she cant get a refund in cash or refund in credit card as the problems is due to Courts unable to fulfill the obligation of the purchase contract.
It's really concerning that Courts Singapore is still accepting online orders for an Apple Watch Series 9, even though Apple has stopped supplying it, and they’ve already informed your daughter about stock issues. The fact that they continue to show stock availability on their website is misleading and unacceptable, especially when customers are left waiting weeks for a product that’s no longer available.
The refusal to provide a cash or credit card refund, and instead offering only vouchers, is also frustrating. Since Courts is unable to fulfill their end of the purchase contract, your daughter should be entitled to a full refund in the original form of payment, not in vouchers. It’s not fair to limit her options when the issue is entirely on Courts’ end.
It would be worth escalating this issue to higher customer service management, or even considering contacting consumer protection authorities in Singapore, as they are obligated to provide a proper resolution under these circumstances. Hopefully, they address this properly and offer your daughter the cash refund she deserves.
