Zenni Optical / SCAM took money NO product!

We ordered and paid for 2 sets of prescription glasses on January 6th. We were told it would take 2 weeks for the glasses to arrive. heard about Zenni Optical from a friend of ours. The day he told me about the site, I read about it in Woman's World Magazine. My sister in law age 55, had just lost her glasses.

So we went on the site on January 6th. We ordered 2 pair for $58.00. Great Price. We went to the local Walmart and got her prescription.

We were so excited to get the glasses. They said it would take 2 weeks. At the end of 2 weeks I called the company. They said it should "be here tomorrow or the next day". I waited ANOTHER full week to call them. They gave me a non-working tracking number with 'hongkongpost'.

It is almost as if all of the employees have the SAME pat answer "it will be here today or tomorrow".

So this past Wednesday February the 4th. I called and asked to speak to a supervisor. Getting through to this company is NO easy task. We put the phone on speaker/redial (because this company NEVER RETURNS CALLS)...but after about 3 hours of hitting REDIAL, we were able to get the news that we were 10th in phone order line.

The person taking the call "serge" or "sarge"... did everything he could not to let me talk to a supervisior. I told him they had promised an email saying when it would arrive. I never got the email. The tracking number that Zenni gave me during the 3 week over the phone, did NOT exist.

Finally I got to talk to "rob" the supervisor. He once again promised the glasses would be here by Friday, Feb 6th.

I called the company on February 9th to get the RUDEST HUMAN on earth, a rep named "JEROME"-- I doubt these people even use their real names. I had to wait on hold for about 20 min. He basically told me to "f-off" and hung up on me. He had refused to let me speak to a supervisor saying that there "was none there".

I called back and once again (hitting redial for an hour) was put on hold for over 20 min. This time talked to a VERY igonorant woman who went by the name of "SAM"---stating she was a supervisor. She told me "too bad". When I told her we were going to cancel the credit card. She said to me "there is nothing you can do about it lady, we already have your money."

I called the credit card company and got my money back.



My sister in law is on a limited income, and we felt this route would be the best for her, but here she sits--- 6 weeks later --- money spent and NO Glasses. She can't even drive a car without her glasses.

I say if you can afford to get your glasses elsewhere--- do so. Atleast you are getting glasses.

    I disagree. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with ZenniOptical, but I had quite the contrary experience. I ordered 3 pairs of prescription glasses for a total of about $65 (for all three) and I received them in the mail in about 2 weeks. Granted I got a bit impatient waiting for them to come, however, I did in fact receive them in 2 weeks. And I LOVE all 3 pairs!!
    I have recommended ZenniOptical to friends since and will continue to do so!

    I heard about zenni optical through my friend when I asked her where she got her glasses from. She showed me her website receipt and everything. So I ordered a pair. I recieved mine in two weeks like they said. And the glasses fit perfectly and I can see with no problems. I'm sorry to hear you feel cheated, but this is a legitimate site. I too have recommended zenni optical some friends who can't afford $300 glasses.

    I have to agree with you, I ordered a pair of glasses on March 4, 2009, as of March 30, 2009 I still have not received them and keep getting told they will be in to their facility that day and shipped out to me and nothing happens. The agents are not very customer friendly either, they will talk over you and are rude.

    I have had nothing but great glasses dirt cheap. I have ordered several pairs. They do take a long time to arrive...but you are saving hundreds of dollars!

    I ordered from Zenni about 5 weeks ago. Great price and selection on the web site. They said 2 weeks, I waited 2 weeks, then called. They said, "should be ready to send to you in two days". I waited a week. No glasses. Called them again. This time they said, "that shipment was held up in customs. Should be ready to send to you in about two days." I waited another week, still no glasses.

    Then I called them again, and had a more distressing conversation in which the rep said, "We don't really know when they'll be ready. I don't know why those other reps told you 'two days'. You're just going to need to wait. No you cannot speak to a supervisor, none are available. If you cancel your order we will only refund half the cost because we have already manufactured the glasses and we are out those costs."

    I was irritated and ready to call the Visa "Dispute Charges" department when I ran into a friend who showed me his Zenni glasses and talked about how he was really happy and only waited about 10 days for them. So I gave them another week. Today I called them but received no human, just an answering machine asking me to leave a message.

    At this point I'm very close to calling Visa again to dispute the charges and recover the $$. To the pro-Zenni commentors here, Good For You! But be aware that next time Zenni might flake out and screw with your order too. So be ready for it.

    I have used this company many times over the past 4 years and did have 1 experience this year when I did not receive my glasses in the estimated two week time frame. It was at the beginning of the year (2009) and it took 6 weeks to get them, but when I called to inquire I was apologized to. I had no trouble getting through and they explained to me that they had extremely high volume and thier manufacturer which is in Hong Kong was dealing with the Chinese New Year, I believe that is a pretty big deal in China. Anyway NO WHERE on the site does it "promise" delivery in two weeks, they state very simply that most orders arrive in two weeks and that special orders may take longer. I'm just guessing here but I'm sure this was a "special" order, if you can't wait patiently like everyone else has to - you should not do business online! This is not Pearl Vision where they do it in an hour! This is a discount site that provides a very good product for the price, which by the way, is less for 2 pair than my VSP co-pay of $25.

    I am glad to know about Zenni Optical because there is a saying that everyone has heard. Now it is. If it sounds to good to be true then you all know then it is to good to be true. Now remember this if something happens to your glasses and they need to be fixed or a lens to be replaced you have to send them back out and wait another 6 to 8 weeks. NO THANKS I WILL PAY A LITTLE EXTRA AND GET WHAT I PAY FOR AND THAT IS PATIENT SATISFACTION AND QUALITY WORKMANSHIP. SO PLEASE KEEP YOUR FUNDS IN THE CITY YOU LIVE AND SUPPORT IN. THANKS CONCERNED PATIENT.

    I've ordered many times in the past. Cheap and adequate. I had one problem with a pair that came in damaged. They weren't very friendly about a return/replacement, and in the end, I didn't feel it was worth the hassle to try - but the glasses were only $8. The way I treat my glasses, I need a lot of cheap ones!

    I am about to order again, and I will post my experience here.

    My experience with Zennioptical was very positive. The first time I only ordered 2 pairs just to check the service, quality etc. The next time I ordered 15 pairs and I was thrilled when they arrived 5 days later exactly as I wanted. I can afford to have a pair to match every mood or outfit. I have added to my collection sighted shades and funky specs, serious ones, sporty numbers etc.. They are too cheap to let go and yet good quality. And besides - if a pair gets smashed - who cares.
    Best value for money ever.

    I just placed my second order. My first pair of glasses arrived in about 2 weeks and were perfectly fine. They got broken by my toddler after about a year, but so did the $200 pair I last bought. I liked my experience enough the first time to order from them again. Honestly, for 8 dollars, there's not much to complain about.

    Every where i look to find real info on this company i always get sweat-shop answers like these, they sound like advertisements!
    Buyer beware, i have not purchased any glasses but still BEWARE/CAUTION.

    I am from Alberta Canada and ordered a pair of **progressive** glasses on May 31/2010, I followed the tracking #, they got held up at the Vancouver customs office, yesterday June 28/2010 they arrived. They were in a bubble package, and a plastic case. I loved the glasses, very fashionable and I can see great. I paid $66.80 and if I would of purchased them anywhere here I would of paid over $500.00. The tracking ticket said they came from Hong Kong. I was very impressesd, I have no complaints, I loved the glasses and will order from them again, I even recommended them to my family.

    I agree with BellaBella - i am in Australia and I heard about Zenni via online search and youtube feedback reviews - Check them out!
    I ahve personally ordered about 5 pairs now as well as 4 different members of my family and 3 friends from work and all have had great
    service from Zenni. I think you just got bad run.

    Obviously most other comments aresaying the same. Dont give up, they are a good company. In Australia you can pay up to $700 for just one pair of progressives. From Zenni about $50.00 for a very similar pair!
    So as you can see we are pretty darn happy!!

    Zenni Optical 'Just the best'
    Service was exceptional and glasses received excellent. I ordered multifocal lenses, gold metal frame and magnetic plus Polarized magnetic sunglass attatchment. Love the frames and the sunglasses. My multifocal lenses are perfect, I haven't seen so well in years. I was quoted over $900 to buy in an optical store, my Zenni glasses online cost me $61 with fames of a much better quality.

    Zenni have helped me no end after i made the wrong order there staff by email where very helpful i recomend them all the time and people ring to say thanks .May be email them and iam sure they will help solve the problem .ONE VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER .

    I probably have close to 10 pairs of glasses from Zeni at this point. All have come within 2 weeks or less with the exception of one pair. However when I emailed the company they were quite polite and explained that they were held up in customs. In fact after I received my glasses I also received a pair of prescription sunglasses which I assumed was an apology for the delay. They have also now revamped their site so you can upload a picture and "try on" glasses and reduced the lowest price for glasses to $6.95! You simply cannot beat that price.

    Horrible customer service, horrible shipping practises. When we asked if we could get them shipped priority I was told...we don't ship priority sorry.
    They were ordered January 20, and supposedly made right away. They just today left HongKong, two weeks they were held by the shipping company. I don't believe it.
    Customer service was no help at all. I had an email from the "lab" that said "We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. Concerning your case, if you want to reorder from us, you may put the physical address in the order form and leave a note in the customer notes area, requesting us to send your order via DHL or FedEX. When we receive your order, we will check the notes and deal with your order accordingly."
    So, who do you believe, customer services says they can't do it, the lab says they can, the customer has no idea and gets [censor] service. This was our fifth order with them, the first three no complaints, this one and the last one terrible service. Going to try another company now.

    I have ordered from them thrice. The first order took a bit, but I think they were a new company at that time. The second order came much faster. I just placed my third order from them and will definitely order again. With glasses so cheap its great to have extra pair every where. Different styles and playing with lens tinting.

    I've ordered glasses from Zenni for the last 4 years. I've never had a problem with any of my orders. Prices are amazing. I wear progressives and bi-focals are super expensive these days. Considering I saved hundreds over the last few years, a slightly longer wait is worth it to me, and will be as long as they continue to be there to serve me.

    i have the same issue with this company, they are fraud and they dont disconnect your service even if you request to.
