Sedgwick Claims Management Services failure to pay claims/unreasonable delays of treatment

This company has given us nothing but grief with it's constant delays, lies, and failure to pay claims. My previous doctor dropped me because they could not get payment for services / medications. The claims worker claimed for 4 years that she could not find my file everytime I called. I finally had to go to previous doctors and track down all the records myself and give her the information in order to get medical treatment for a back and neck injury that left me at risk for quadriplegia.

Once I got the OK, I could not find a doctor to take my case and they finally supplied me with a list to search for a doctor. I have had 5 surgeries on my back and neck and anticipate more in the near future. EVERY TIME I go to the designated pharmacy for my prescriptions, I am told that Sedgwick has denied payment and I have to call the worker to get a response from the company. Some medications require continued use or weaning, or the patient can suffer serious consequences. I have suffered nerve damage, loss of feeling, limited use of limbs, and as I said earlier am in severe pain and at risk for quadriplegia. They don't care. I am lied to constantly and my communication is ignored until the point of frustration and feelings of hopelessness.

My claim was settled to provide me with lifetime medical in leiu of a cash settlement, yet I was deprived of treatment from them for 4 years and had to pay myself at Urgent treatment centers and county med clinics and county hospital. It's unfortunate that I must file this complaint and pay from my limited income and taxpayers paid for the treatment that Sedgwick is responsible for.

I have been lied to so many times. They say after all this time that I need a prescription card. They said they had sent it to me at my parents address. (A lie) I have received other correspondence from them at my current address where I have lived for over 5 years.

I have confirmed my correct address over and over again. I waited for these cards and what happened? They sent a letter to my parents address asking if I wanted my scrips sent to me by mail 3 months at a time; no prescription cards like they said they were sending. More lies and tactics to thwart my treatment. Why did I not receive any prescription card? Why did the pharmacist say that they have problems with Sedgwick all the time? The pharmacy had never asked or required a card from me in the past.

Now I try to reach my claim worker and of course she is out of the office until the end of the month. I sent e-mails, and was advised of this. I then sent it to her supervisor and she too was out of the office. Their lies and efforts to delay and thwart my treatment is very stressful, which increases pain and impedes my recovery. (My last cervical spine surgery being only 2 months ago).

I looked online to find a number where I could reach someone to OK my medication. I found page after page of complaints against this company.

I also discovered that my brother in law has this same company and he has been suffering greatly for years trying to get approval for treatment and surgery. Because of his disability and the poverty that follows, he lives in a travel trailer at a campground, and in winter rents a room, needing help from family to survive while he waits and hopes to be able to work again someday.

Something must be done about these greedy insurance companies that fail to have any compassion towards people who are sick or injured and need help. Instead their tactics cause needless stress and additional pain and suffering to those who depend on them for help.

I understand your frustration very well. My husband still fighting for his rights after almost 7 years. Sedgwick denied and delay treatments and medication without compassion. This is a criminal organization.

Sedgwick Claims Management Services short term disability

I injured my back on a trip to S.D. There was no accident, but I've been fighting my back problems for almost 20 years (from work injury). I filed for short-term disability Aug. 17th 2010. It is now Oct. 18th 2010 and still no results. I was told it was denied because of "lack of info from the Dr.) I sent in 3 medical reports, and was told they don't have them. It is in appeal, and won't be decided intil Nov. 25th 2010. Where are my records I sent in? I was standing right there when they were sent. I am entitled to 22 weeks full pay and 11 weeks half pay, but right now...I'm not getting any pay. What is the problem here? I can't work because I'm still under Dr's care. I'm "very" dissapointed in them ! They are very rude and don't give a hoot about you.

Sedgwicks non payment of short term disability benefit is forcing my wife and I to go homeless. I have been out of work 6 months now without a single payment. Filed extensions and appeal and still denied. They speak like a politician on the phone, they don’t answer my simple questions, they just talk around my questions. Short term disability only goes for 6 months so I applied for long term disability. I tried to apply for finance assistance with Social services an the VA because I am a vet and can’t get financial assistance because I am employed. I am not getting paid so no matter where I try to get help I am screwed. We are preparing for homelessness but it’s cold in CT so we are going to have to drive down south to a warmer climate so we can live in our car. I am going to file a lawsuit against Sedgwick for back pay and damages. Hopefully we can legally screw them like they screwed us.

I filed a claim with Sedgwick my point of contact is Patty Dooty. My claim is a terminal Lung Disease, I'm working with the best doctors in the country (Yale and Brigham and Women's) and am currently in a study for a new medication that has shown great results in lab animals, we are the first humans to try the new drug which is done intravenously once a month. My doctors have bent over backwards to help me with Sedgewick informing them that my disease is terminal there is no cure. Sedgwick still requires monthly updates on my condition and what I'm doing to return to work. and when we send them the information they requested they say they haven't received it but when I put Patty on the spot because I asked for the fax received confirmations and told Patty I had them she checked again while I was on the phone with her, she said she would review them the next day. I got no response and my check was short due to her not updating my claim. I am also a Disabled Vietnam Era Veteran. I am at risk of losing my company paid Insurance and with my medical bills that would ruin my life and family. This after 35 years of service with General Dynamics, Electric Boat Corporation. In what Country due we allow a company like Sedgwick to EXIST!

I totally agree! How does this company continue to be in business. I am having the same problem with this company. The fact of the matter is they just don't want to have to pay any claims. They want to take your money for the insurance you take out but heaven forbid you have to actually file a claim with them cause they will make it as hard as possible for you to receive any of your pay. They find every excuse there is to deny your claim including lying to you. I am going to contact the Insurance commission and the BBB and see what steps they say I can take. This is ridicules.

I am a United Healthcare employee that has applied for short term due to a severe medical condition. My claim was denied due to my provider not sending enough supporting documents (which I understand). However a peer to peer was requested. I reached out to both doctors that I see, only to find out that one provider did not receive a call at all, and the other received only 1 call. My case worker said that it was documented there were several calls attempted and voice mails were left. After speaking to my doctors again, I found out ALL calls and messages are recorded and logged and there was nothing. Its apparent that there is a quota Sedgewick employees must meet so they FALSIFY notes and close out the claim. Now I have to appeal, and my doctor is aware of the situation as well. Has anyone had this issue yet? Any suggestions? I'm thinking at this point maybe a complaint with BBB and/or attorney or contacting a government regulator? Can anyone help? Thank you in advance.

My Gosh! this woman (girl) has given me the run around, she speaks in a very, very low voice over the phone so you can't hear her, she won't take down valuable information when first hearing a claim, then treats you like dirt. I hope she has some idea of the damage she does so carelessly.

Kelly Pivaroff is my adjuster for Sedgwick and she did a wonderful job managing my claim. My checks were received promptly and she was very pleasant to deal with. She is very caring and kind hearted. The problem I have now is my claim was transferred to Greg McPherron and everything has gone downhill. I do not receive my checks any longer, he is very hard to get in touch with and when you do, he is rude. I have requested Kelly to continue to manage my claim and Greg said "you get what you get and quit complaining" In my opinion, he is rude! Kelly where are you? No one will transfer me to you and I need your assistance.

Lauri Atoe from Sedgwick CMS is a liar and a scam artist. Not only will she lie to you on the phone, she will enable your employer to screw you out of workman's comp. Sedgwick Claims Management Services playing games

I injured my back while working for Kohl's. Luckily, I had Sedgwick CMS as my worker's comp carrier *insert sarcasm*. The injury happened at the end of August 2009, it is now the beginning of May 2010. The adjusters at Sedgwick will do everything in their power to delay any medical care needed and deny coverage of doctor/specialist visits + medications. The specialists that they do cover (if you are lucky) are hasty in their evaluations and incompetent at best.
I did manage to get two months of physical therapy covered, from October through December. Sedgwick then took it upon themselves to "close" my case without notifying me in January, while I was still seeing my doctor and filling prescriptions, which won't be covered.
Throughout this whole ordeal I wanted a second opinion on my back. Sedgwick sent me to my doctor for another evaluation, refused to pay the bill, and is trying to get me to see the original incompetent orthopedic surgeon for a second opinion?
Another fun-filled game they play is "ignore phone calls for as long as possible." It's a blast, really. You call your Sedgwick adjuster, leave an urgent message, and allow them to ignore you for as long as they can stand it. Leave more messages over a two week period and wait for the call to be returned (if ever).
Moral of the Story: If you get injured at work and they have Sedgwick CMS as their provider, get a lawyer early on. You can also be a fool like me and play their games until the pain wreaks havoc on your everyday lifestyle and then consider a lawyer. It's your choice, but I strongly suggest you don't be a fool.

Absolutely I have dealt with my Case mgr. now 33 mths with her game playing. I said I am done this ** has done put a big fork in me the last time. I said I got to find me a SUPER lawyer. I wonder if they have those low and behold guess what. I Googled in the area I live in, and out of approximately 2500 or more attorneys in the state they have 25 SUPER lawyers and I got me one fine one woman lawyer. My manager at Wags made a suggestion and I am going to take him up on that to file suit against Sedgwick for their mishandling of my case and delay of medical care. These delays are detrimental to my health and he knows first hand. I am also going to including the case manager and all other participants. The will make Sedgwick sit up and take note when I am done.

Sedgwick is really bad to work with and my jerk lawyer is trying to get me to resign from my job at kohls in order to settle which isn't right can't leave right now end of dec that isn't even enough time to put in my two weeks notice. Plus I was told their is nothing in the statue of workers comp that says you have to resign from your job. Also he was making fun of me for wanting to stay at kohls hello that's not for you to judge as in the lawyer hello that's why I had to go with you cause your no money to pay you until we win the case for you if I had money wouldn't you think I'd hire an attorney / lawyer.

So think sadly I need to find a new attorney some how even though this one has all the details of my case at least maybe go / try and go for another free consultation

I was at Winn Dixie recently and brke my rt wrist falling backward over 2 empty pallets. Surgery required anesthesia, pain, pain and more pain, pins, plates, co-pays of $400 out-of-pocket n 2 days. The Sedgwich rep called, took my statement and said she would get bk to me when she "...completed her investigation...". So I said "I don't suppose that would mean I will hear from u later today? Can ya feel the sarcasm in my voice? She kinda chuckled under her breath, and said "...as a matter of fact I'm going on vacation next week (April 1st). I could feel her grinng thru the phone. At this point, I began to tell her I live on S.S., wor pt-tme, so far I hv been forced to borrow $300 4 dr visits plus $50 for RXs. I could feel her grinning rt thu the phone! Needless to say, the only person she'll be talking to would be is MY ATTORNEY ON MONDAY MORNING!

My adjuster is nancy adams I've been on workers comp for 2years because of an injured back. I just saw there doctor this year that shows there stupidity. They appealed my case and lost and the judge required them to pay me my required rate. Only for them to appeal it again. Now with that being said they have stopped paying me until the case is seen. The last appeal took one year. They do not respond to my doctor request for medical assistance. Never returning there calls or responding months after. This been the most difficult time in my life and they have made it so much worse. After this phase of my life is over, i have decided to fight for the rights for the injured employees because of the mistreatment they are given by the insurance company and the employer.

Sedgwick is a complete scam! These mother F's are messing with the the BULL and I'm going to give them the horns eventually! Had shoulder surgery 5 weeks ago and denying my claim. I climb telephone poles for a living and lift heavy ladders to do telephone repairs. These yahoo's have no medical license to approve or deny a medical claim but somehow get away with it daily! WTF! Welcome to America! Land of the Free. What a disgrace the way they treat humanity! To be continued...BTW, customer service is non-existant!

I agree! The adjusters will ignore phone calls, tell you they do not have the information from the Doctors, and then it appears suddenly when you fax the information they say they do not have. I've had enough after 6 months of being ignored, I'm going to the lawyer tomorrow.

I have been going through the same thing, my storage was boken into in 2021 and I filed a police report, I took pictures and followed all directions. ORANGE DOOR/SEDGWICK is scamming me. I had over 4,500.00 worth of NIKE shoes and JORDAN shoes stolen from my storage. Went to the office they were no help. I'm really trying hard to stop the violence that will be coming from my sons dad. I have looked through alllllll kinds of reviews. PUBLIC STORAGE AND ORANGE DOOR ARE IN CAHOOTS ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES. ITS SO SAD THAT WE CONTINUE TO GET TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY A COMPANY THAT IS SUOPPOSED TO HELP US. I WILL BE TAKING ORANGE DOOR, SEDGWICK, AND PUBLIC STORAGE ALL TO COURT. WHEN I MEAN I HAVE SEEN SO MANY REVIEWS ON PPL AND THEIR CLAIMS BEING DENIED ITS SICKENING. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE AND I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE IT TO THE STREETS BUT AT THIS POINT I MIGHT GET MY DOGS ON THIS SITUATION.

My family & I had recently moved from out of state & stored our things for 6months at a Public Storage in Spartanburg, SC . Our TV's, all of my art work, laptop, various other items, including my son's fishing pole & tackle box (who does that?). 1/2 of my storage was missing & we immediately called & filed a police report. We turned in all of the required paperwork, police report, pictures, etc. There are NO security cameras on site to protect the people who store there items on site, so when their units are broken into they are not help accountable at all. The police report very clearly states that it was a robbery & they still will not honor my claim. DO NOT PURCHASE INSURANCE THROUGH ORANGE DOOR< ITS A SCAM!

SUBSTANCE OF COMPLAINT:

I have never heard from any of the parties involved in this claim since my last medical appointment on 02/05/09. My complaint is that I now suffer with severe joint pain and swelling as a result of the (42) day delay in scheduling my surgery for pin placement originally agreed to on 11/11/08. That I have been treated with callous disregard by The Home Depot, Sedgwick, CoCentra and Liberty Mutual. That I intend to pursue all civil and medical remedies available. That I am currently looking for legal representation. That I have all documents including original xrays from E.R. to substantiate all claims.

Sedgwick Claims Management Services delay in medical care

Sedgwick has there hands in the work related injury drs. Wallets and fill them up as long as the drs dismiss your injuries, delay timely and proper medical care. The drs are rude, incompetent, make up lies and forward the info to sedgwick as facts. Sedwick and the drs. Can not be trusted with your care. If your injured at work get a lawyer the same day your hurt, if sedgwick is the carrier. They deny claims prolong treatment, then drs tell you enough time has gone by your not in pain, mentally get on down the road dismiss you like trash or gum on there shoe. The drs. Walk out of the office before you can discuss your injury. Sedwick drs dont listen and dont care as long as there wallets are full for there ski trips and fishing outings. Dont trust the drs fancy website claims. Its bunk. I was injured several months ago havent received any treatments for severly injured back. I was told your fine your not in pain get over it, and full duty at work! I had to pay for my own mri, from my private dr showing the full injury.
Sedgwick is a huge joke. Companys who use them dont care about there employee and companys hide behind the erisa hipe!

Sedgthugs deny your claim or deny or delay proper medical care. This is usually at the request of your employer. Every state has statutes that you can file under for unfair claim processing and bad faith... File!

My hubby is currently getting the run around from sedwick. He was hurt 12/09 at work, and he has two herniated disks and a bulged disk in his lower back. (he is 24years old) Long story short, after seven months the only treatment he got was a ridicoulusly high dosage of narcotic main meds, and he went to one [censor] dr after the next. Two MRI's were done so none of the dr's tried to deny he was injured, they just didnt do anything about it. Last week we finally saw a dr who cares, but he says that since it has been so long with no treatment that surgery is now the only option! That is the last thing he wants, buut thanks to sedwick and their [censored]head adjusters, he will have to go under the knife. the drs are saying there is a 50% chance that he will not be able to walk after the surgery and it will take him up to 5 years to relearn basic skills such as walking. We have two toddlers, they may have a daddy who can not walk because someone in an office didnt feel like doing their job! Doesnt seem fair to me, much less legal. We have been working with the attorney on long term compensation. For anyone that gets hurt...GET A LAWER! it wont cost you anything unless you recover, but if you try to fight them on your own, it could cost you your life!

I completely AGREE! I was hurt on the job in december 2003. I tried with laywers and on my own. However, after 4 YEARS. I got a call back and found out that they owned me close to $25, 000.00 in awards and life time medical. Now, comes an issue of life time medical. I was told by VA workers' comp. that they still own me more. Now, I wonder how long this will take?

I agree completely. I was injured June 2009 and the doctor gave me pills for two months and the third month decided to send me to theraphy. My initial diagnosis was a lumbar strain, yeah right! I was in ridiculous pain every time I bent, got out of bed, got off the couch, you name it. Therapy was hurting me since they didnt know what they were really treating... I got angry and threatened to go see my own doctor and finally was given an MRI showing 2 buldged disks with a pinched nerve, and of course some arthritis which was likely the cause of the pain?... So said Segwick and the company doctor... I went to see my doctor and she is in complete disagreement with how the Company doc treated me and then went to a specialist who also disagrees with the company about the minuteness of my initial injury... Now everything has been covered with a wait in between of course.. Its 8 months later and still in discomfort and have been waiting two weeks to get more therapy approved for during the span that I will be given 2 cortisone injections... The therapist just called me irritated with the amount of time they are taking to make this decision... The company doctor does put lies in the medical files and I would encourage everyone to get a copy of your files every time you see the doctor so you can take care of the lies right then... Since my pain typically happens when I sit for long periods such as car rides and in school, or from standing too long it is a PERSONAL injury...lol So pretty much if you have pain outside of work then its a personal problem... The lawyer said the company doctors notes and IME notes aren't worth the paper they are written on in front of a judge and that is why they dont want you to see your own doctor.

does anyone know what address you would serve small claims papers on for Sedgwick? I had a rediculously small incident happen at walgreens...their sliding door caught and tore my jacket. They of course will not return my calls. It's been 4 months, so I am prepared to name Walgreens and Sedgwick in a small claims suit. I just need to know where to send the papers.

Thanks,

Todd

i agree with you i got hurt at Walgreens a box of waters coming off conveyor belt rammed into me. i never did a truck i was new third day on the job so i didn't complain until my next shift and i didn't feel immediate pain i cotinued working that day. anyway i had to report to Sedgwick insurance so i can be seen my shoulder and back were hurting me. i went throught the process the guy was rude to me and said stories dont match up and i was sent a denial letter that i wasn't goint to be covered! this was so unfair now i know no matter what if you get hurt at work report immediatly you have 24 hrs to report. Walgreens also lied and said i didn't get hurt at work they didn't want to take responsiblility the manager saw the box hit into me. And asked me if i was ok! i said yes . He didn't even offer to do an incident report. But this company is just awful finally i went to have an Mri with my own insurance and i had a rotator cuff tear 60% so i had to go to therapy for shoulder and back.

Sedgwick CMS claims adjuster Tina Parks is a lying, calculating dishonest person and of all the claims adjusters I have ever dealt with I got the worst. She lied from day one trying to get me to have my insurance pay for vehicle damages sustained from getting hit by one of their clients trucks. She lied and delayed for more than 30 days, only to tell me she didn't see how their truck could've hit me, my first thought was; gee were you there? I didn't knock my bumper off, but what goes around, comes around and only a judge will have the last say.

I would definitely disagree with your assessment. Mr. DeRosa is a very capable executive. In his role with Sedgwick CMS he was not involved with claims decisioning. He was very helpful to me when I contacted him for direction on process.

FYI--There is a class action suit against Sedgwick CMS in Michigan. Claimants allege this company paid doctors to make false statements in claimants reports such as "Client states that they are improving, " when the client made no such statement. Currently in this complaint, this company is allegedly charged with mail and wire fraud and other alleged criminal charges under the R.I.C.O. Act. God is good!

Sedgwick CMS sucks! I work for at&t and I am on medical leave because of severe depression and other emotional problems. Dealing with Sedgwick CMS is like dealing with NORTH KOREA! I think they should all be gathered up like the foul beasts that they are, caged up and sent to GITMO PRISON CAMP! Their customer service agents that initially answer the phone tell you one story, you speak to a "case manager" with a mannerism that must have been taught to them by mimicking Adolf Hitler, and they tell you a completely different story and treat you like trash. I have requested to speak to a supervisor who must have been trained in psychological warfare and they, with a forked-tongue, will lie to you and send your case back to first person who treated you like trash! That is the furthest I have gotten but I suggest to anyone and everyone that is dealing with them to get an attorney if they have not already done so.

Sedgwick Claims Management Services fraud and cheating

Sedgwick CMS is a third party administrator of Disability Claims for many large and small organizations across the country. They are liars and cheats! They will deny claims for virtually any reason, true or not. Their compensation schedules are such that the more claims they deny the more money they make.

They will harass you, lie to you, change their requirements, and do everything possible to deny a claim regardless of if it is a legitimate claim or not.

They will deny you rights provide you in State Laws and in case law in Federal Courts and say these 'rights' are 'not authorized under the plan'. Ratna Bagwe and Rick Hernandez in their Chicago office are among the best of their liars.

Do not trust these people to give you a fair shake!

Sedgwick Claims Management Services disability benefits

AT&T offers disability coverage for their employees administered by Sedgwick CMS. Their plan exploits many loopholes in the Federal Law regulating these plans. They will and have terminated benifits for reasons not related at all to the recipients disability or ability to be gainfully employed. Claiments are held under "virtual house arrest" and are not allowed to accomany thier family on even short day trips without obtaining "permission" which is cannnot be obtained in a timely manner if at all. They have and will schedule the claiment for multiple Independant Medical Exams and the doctors in these plans know better than to "bite the hand that feeds them" and do everthing i thier power to find the "claiment" fit to return to work (somewhere else as AT&T has terminated thier employment after one year on disability). This plan is nothing short of a "scam" as AT&T has little intention of prividing the benefits as promised. Sedgwick ruthlessly administers the loophole clauses in Federal Law the plan is designed to exploit and deny benefits to those that are, in fact, genuinely disabled.

Eric, I am kind of curious as to how Sedgwick has satisfied your complaint it was quite daming. I can't see that a letter to you would state resolve unless you actually have gone to the doctor and continued with all issues. I wouldn't just take their word for it remember who you are dealing with. Good luck Eric

Take care may your life be alot easier and go as planned in the future.

Mileage is never paid correctly they send you payment almost six months later and no explanation of why it's a different amount than what you submitted. Forget about speaking with the adjuster. This is worst thing I have ever been through on a job. I got hurt on the job in March 2014. After realizing it wasn't an injury from the past I reported it to my job as work related it has been hell on earth since then. I have upper back pain which never existed in the past. They cut my pay innjun 2014. Tgen activeted it again in sept 2014. After which they demanded I send a check to catch up my premium for health insurance. Other priorities were more important like rent, utilities etc. So at the end of 2014 att cancelled my health insurance. So since there was no determination made yet whether it was work comp they cut my pay off because I couldnt provide updated medical because they cancelled my health insurance. I had to go to the VA Hospital and start everything over again. As of right now my long term disability is in denied status. The CWA is very weak from reading all the post this has been going on for at least 10 years. So for this to be still happening means the CWA has no power what so ever. They arenjust one of these unions that take union dues for the purpose of enjoying the conferences. Hate to say this but this issue exist because we unfortunately have weak union representation. By reading these many different post it is very easy to come to that conclusion since its been going on for a long time. This problem should be in the past employees should not still be going through nonsense in 2015.

Work Comps Harms and Kills Workers. it harms some families generation after generation... NO MORE ...TIME TO reboot the system. What's being done to many workers is criminal...Yet the ones doing the harm, hide behind State Med Tort Laws that protect the abusers. While the injured workers suffer and get driven insane in many case. Some even to the point of suecide/homicide...we have divorces/domestic violence...ect...that are the bad ill ripple effects of this broken comp system that no one, in power, wants to fix. For many are profitizing off the misery of the poor working class who are being harmed by this after years of employment. Employees used up and tossed out after years of labor... Not fair nor just for all... INEQUALITY and back door austerity measures being imposed, all based on a bias gut instinct and not medical facts being made in favor of the corps bottom lines and not in the interest of the injured workers. We need folks to admit it's broken, so that we can fix it so that it helps, and not harms, those it is pretending to be their for. http://moelaw.com/blog/how-a-workers-compensation-adjusters-intentional-delays-killed-a-man/

While working for AT&T I developed chronic migraines and after using all my FMLA was forced to file for STD to keep from getting fired due to absences. My migraines were so severe that they often lasted for 10 to 12 days at a time and I was in and out of emergency rooms regularly until even morphine wouldn't help so I stopped bothering to go. In a three-month period, I had exactly 3 headache free days and frankly stopped caring much whether I lived or died. Sedgwick denied my disability claim (of course) citing as their reason that in the stacks of medical records I submitted documenting everything I went through, there were no test results "proving" that I was actually having migraines. Apparently Sedgwick had hired the ONLY "board-certified neurologist" on earth who doesn't know that THERE IS NO TEST TO PROVE MIGRAINES. Not only did AT&T fire me, but after telling me not to worry since I could apply for rehire in 6 months anyway, they then turned around and decided that I was permanently ineligible for rehire and that was the company policy all along. Typical AT&T--they lied to shut me up until the deadline had passed to file a complaint with the EEOC. And the Union? Sure, I was a member. THEY WOULDN'T EVEN RETURN MY CALLS. A shady company with shady insurance negotiating with a useless union.

Sedgwick is a racket, they are hired by all the big corporations to deny benefits to their employees. Its actually a brilliant move by the corporation, because there is no blood on their hands if the employee sues and wins. No bad press either cause "technically" the corporation is not denying benefits Sedgwick is. That is the exact reason Sedgwick is not publicly traded, their secret would get out with the bad press. It's a win for Sedgwick because they can hire a bunch of GED owning employees to over ride a MD, for no other reason than " It's not enough information". They also know that these GED employees are not qualified to work anywhere else and will work for a salary based on 37 hours per week, but will actually put up with working double that for the same pay. These corporations also pay bonuses to Sedgwick for getting the employee back to work early or just denying the employee benefits altogether. They know that a % of employees won't fight or aren't educated enough to know how to fight Sedgwick. If you have the unfortunate circumstance of being injured and have to deal with Sedgwick, make sure you write down and confirm every correspondence with them no matter by phone, fax, or mail. The second you feel your rights are being violated contact a good attorney. It's amazing how quick your approval letter from Sedgwick comes after a demand letter is sent from a lawyer. It's only a matter of time before we see them on 20/20 or 60min till then good luck.

If you have a legitimate injury and are following the guidelines of your company and the state laws that apply, you will be paid. It's really that simple. Sedgwick isn't the big bad insurance company. Sedgwick is the third party administrator. All of the companies that use Sedgwick pay them to handle claims and THEIR money.

Most claims have reasons to be compensable and reasons to be denied. There are a lot of cases where it could go either way and it's your company that makes the final decision. In that case, the adjusters hands are tied.

A few points to note:
1. It is YOUR responsibility to provide your medical documents and work status notes to your adjuster AND your employer. It is never the adjuster's job to have to call every single medical facility for each of their 175+ claimants. They would never have time to do anything else if that were the case.
2. If your physician says its ok for you to return to work on light duties and your employer is willing to accommodate those restrictions, you will not be paid lost time benefits if you refuse. If your doctor says its ok and your employer is willing to work with you while you recover, YOU are the one being non compliant.
3. Your adjuster is not going to "look at you and see you are disabled". They actually make decisions based on the medical notes that have been sent to them.
4. Just because you have an injury or illness, it does not mean it is work related. I repeat: JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE AN INJURY OR ILLNESS, IT DOES NOT MEAN IT IS WORK RELATED. For example, an employee is walking in the hallway at work and felt pain in their knee. They were not pushing, pulling or carrying anything work related. There was no trip, slip or fall. There were no defects to the floor or their shoes. Being at work did not put this employee at a greater risk for injury. Walking is walking. The location doesn't matter and the knee pain would have occurred no matter where they were walking.
5. If your claim is determined to be not compensable it is because with the information provided there is a legal reason to deny it. When you got hired you probably signed a whole bunch of papers without reading them. One of them were the guidelines for reporting injuries. If you feel the decision was made in error then PLEASE send your adjuster documents to support overturning the compensability decision.
6. Believe it or not, If you are entitled benefits, your adjuster wants to issue them. They do care. You have to keep in mind that about 75% of claims are bogus. People take advantage of the system and those people make it harder for the people with legitimate injuries.
7. Most group health providers will not pay for claims until work comp issues a denial letter. If you received a denial letter pretty quickly, your adjuster may have actually been trying to make it easier for you to submit bills to them. If later its discovered it should be work comp, then work comp reimburses you and your group health provider. Either way, it's an attempt to spare your credit and prevent bills from going into collections. This is not always the case, but it is a possible reason why.

Instead of spending so much time complaining about Sedgwick, you should be researching your state's disability or workers' compensation act and get very familiar with it. Also get familiar with your company's policies. Always always always send your adjuster your medical notes and work status notes. Adjusters are not physicians but they make decisions solely based on the medical notes or lack thereof. If you aren't happy with your company's policy, try and change it. Complaining online doesn't accomplish anything. The same goes for the state laws. When it comes to your adjuster, cooperation will produce much better results than fighting, yelling and name calling. If a customer walked into your workplace and started screaming irrationally about how stupid and incompetent you are, I'd bet you wouldn't have a ton of motivation to go above and beyond.

It seems like you only hear the bad side of things. For every person who has had a bad experience, 10 had a good experience. I have seen adjusters fight really hard for their claimants. I know someone who had a claim for a man who worked in a factory for over 20 years. The company policy stated that physicals were required every year. This employee neglected to do so. He was diagnosed with a very advanced form of lung cancer from working and inhaling chemicals. The employee did not comply with the annual physicals that would have found the cancer sooner and he is going to die because of it. For technical reasons and statute of limitations, his claim was denied. The adjuster fought with the employer and convinced the company to pay for his medical fees anyway. He has 5 kids and a wife and he is going to die for his mistake. He was a loyal employee for over two decades and he was so nice and grateful on the phone even though he only has a few months left that his adjuster decided a death sentence was punishment enough and that his wife and kids didn't need to have 100k in debt. The employer has been willingly paid for all treatment just because the adjuster fought for it

I have worked for EBay for the last 6 years. I am a excellent employee, who is dedicated to my job. With that said, I filed a STD claim with Sedgewick 12/11/11 because my feet were swelling and I had pain all over my body that progressively got worse. I literally had to call sedgewick daily. They played the oh we didn’t get the paperwork you sent us, oh we never got the doctor’s paperwork, etc. I would have to call my doctor’s and ask them to fax again, then call sedgewick back frequently. Then they would tell me oh it take 7-10 business days to review. They approved some of my time, but they were always behind, causing me to have to call into work every night. In March the doctor’s finally figured out that I had fibromyalgia. Since the pain was so severe I had stopped moving around and stayed in bed a good portion of days which then led to diabetes. I became severely depressed and anxious. My therapist said I needed to destress and my regular doctor and rhuematologist said it would take time to get the meds right. Sedgewick approved my time until 4/1/12, however they then required me to see a 3rd party therapist and refused to pay me until they decided. I saw the 3rd party therapist even though my family doctor and my therapist said I can’t work yet. I called sedgewick. Heather my caseworker told me that she sent her recommendation to her supervisor which was to deny my claim. I asked why and she said because the therapist said I could work. I had an anxiety attack which is pretty normal after talking to Sedgewick. If I am constantly in pain, can’t sit or stand for long periods of time, have physical therapy 3 times a week, have massive anxiety attacks, and have crying spells, how am I supposed to go to work? The denial leads to no back pay or future pay, no job, and no medical insurance. How am I gonna get my medications, see doctors, and get treatment? Sedgewick doesn’t care. They told me I should have thought about that before I filed my claim. Now I am even more depressed and anxious. How can they get away with this? Something needs to be done.

🐵Cooper I can tell you must be a Sedgwick employee no one would write such favor of a claims management in length. Sedgwick and every other TPA are monster that's there JOB to still the life right out of someone. I have this case manager who has drug my case out for 33 months plain old lazy/denying/foxing/ she is bad at it. Here is good example she has tried 2 x She has hire 2 IME's one from Cancer Institute and one from a major medical center both IME's have stated not at MMI the 2nd IME states pt. needs 3 surgeries before reviewing MMI again. So this case manager who as I stated hired the 2 IME's has now had the case nurse make another appt. to have a doctor at Nextcare to give another MMI. This doctor hasn't seen me since 4/2020 and she thinks he is going to give me a MMI when all he did in 4/2020 was write a OOW slip. So please don't say that Sedgwick is a company that is in business to give every injured employee a fair shake and its the system, or your employer. Your wrong my manager at work ask me if I was going to file suit against Sedgwick for wrongful handling of my case.

Sedgwick Claims Management Services hippa

Sedgwick cms handled my w / c claim and long term disability claim, they always seemed one step ahead of my lawyer and I could'nt understand it. They cut of my disability even though my dr. Said I needed another surgury. I called them 5 months later and asked why they stopped paying for my w / c meds, the women on the phone who would only give her first name looked it up on the computer and listed off all my personal medication. I asked her how she had that infomation since I no longer worded for the company and she hung up. I did some checking and found out sedwick and united heath care are in bed together (Look it up) look up the juris program. Who owns who's stocks. I have asked my senator to investigate this whole crooked deal and if he wont i'm taking it to the media, then let all the dirt come out and see how many people they screwed over the years. Dont take my word for it look it up then call your senator, that is if hes not getting kick backs too.

I worked for FEDEX and injured 4 discs in my back. I have had 4 surgeries on 2 discs. I have had nothing but problems with this company over the years which is since 1996. I cannot get my adjuster to return any phone calls at all. He will not contact me by phone, mail, email nothing. I say we all get together and file a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against this company. My old dr went over a year without payment from this company. I have had to pay for my own medication, and have gone without mileage reimbursement many times. Any time a case hearing was set up they would ALWAYS come up with an excuse and never show up, then WC would call and the excuses poured in. I cannot understand why they keep getting away with treating people like they have. I know it also has to do with politics, meaning the insurance companies pay off people when voting for the laws. If you are in other states I encourage you to do some checking to see exactly how political Workers Comp really is... Meantime I say lets all get together and file a CLASS ACTION SUIT against Sedgwick...

well the money isn't in the bank yet. However they are supposed to pay for the three weeks of back pay from when they first started to deny the claims. I really don't know how they get away with the harassment.

This sounds a lot like what is happening to my husband right now! Has your issue been resolved since your union rep has become involved? I can't take anymore sleepless nights. My husband has worked 12 hours a day 6 days a week and they cant even give him the satisfaction to pay him to recover from a serious neck surgery? Really? Employed for 28 years!

I recently had back surgery Nov. 8th. At first everything seemed fine the first wave of claims were approved and all was good. Then I went to my second Dr. appointment and it went to( H3LL ). My Doctors office made a slight error by saying that “he has been able to return to work” rather than saying “has not” So Sedgwick denied the claim. When I called they said that I was able to return to work. Even though I have a work slip that says return February 4th 2013. After the dr. corrected that error and sent it to Sedgwick they found something else wrong, just trying to keep from paying. At this point the company I work for said I had to return to work or it’s a voluntary quit. So in other words Sedgwick was trying to force me back to work against dr. orders and the company would be liable if I were to be hurt, that’s if the company would even let me set foot in the place without a dr. slip, cause the dr. has me off until February 4th 2013. Nothing got done about this, until my union got involved and forced Sedgwick to properly evaluate the circumstances. One of the few good things left, about unions I guess.

Sedgewick in Charleston, WVa supposedly are moving the last of the old WC claims not settled out of state and laying off all current employees. This has not hit the news, but check the TOPIX topics under Brickstreet Insurance and see the comments that state this from an employee facing a layoff. The whole goal of Sedgewick/Cambridge/Insurance Commission - is to have claimants settle, close claims and be rid of them. They'd not have to pay any lifetime awards or medical care - not caring that the injured workers settled due to not being fully informed or the fear of trumped up medical being placed in their files where they'd STILL HAVE CLAIM CLOSED and get nothing. It's a shame that Manchin allowed all this to happen to working people of this state and HE WILL PROBABLY even get more power when he takes over Byrd's seat. ugh

In WVa Sedgewick took over OLD wc claims filed before July 2006, their goal is to CLOSE ALL CLAIMS - either by offering a lifetime credit for them to sign away any care they can get later in life and have their lifetime checks stopped also. If a claimant won't settle, then they simply find a reason to close the claim and stop Perm Total Disability benefits anyway. It's hard to get a lawyer in WVA to help you as most of them are ALSO in bed with Insurance/Brickstreet and Sedgewick Insurance - they follow the money.

I am interested in knowing more about Sedgwick and United Health Care being in bed together. The previous disability carrier was processing my claims with no issues, I've now been moved to Sedgwick, and the Representative, Carree Kearney, will not return a phone call to save her life.

I'm currently sending all correspondence to them via certified mail. They love to deny claims on a technicality. Be careful dealing with these people.

Sedgwick Claims Management Services obtain my personal medical records without my authorization and permission

Sedgwick CMS continues to contact my doctors to obtain my personal medical records without my authorization and permission.

This is a very serious matter. They need to let me know what they have done with my personal medical records since obtained and why. They also need to stop it.

9 months ago I filed a claim with Sean Frain of Sedgwick. He has never responded to any emails. This is unethical and the complaint board needs to know this company and specifically, Sean Frain are not conducting business in accordance with the law.

4A22090LVBY0001 claim

We submitted August 2022 for them to process our claim. The installer damaged a water line and it flooded our kitchen. We had to call an emergency plumber out to stop the leak. We have received little to Nothing for answers from Sedgwick. We provided all documents and have been giving the run around. Can anyone help us?

I called them to start a reasonable work accommodation request for Lowes. I was disconnected twice. The rep took down my profile and collected my medical providers information. The 2nd time I was disconnected another lady said it looks like your request was pushed through. And I would get something in the mail. Ok I've been on the job 3 weeks now and I've got nothing in the mail. The rep also told me something that doesn't jive with the ADA of job accommodations network or AARP. She said the request had to be submitted on their form. The ADA said requests can be made verbally or on any generic form and I don't have to see another Dr or make a special trip, incur a copay to have anything signed if I've submitted recent copies of recent medical exams. I have all that. Tuesday I'm marching into lowes' office & turning the AARP form and my medical profile to the store manager. Lowes needn't expect me to pull 9 hour shifts unless I can use my sit/stand stool for balance and support. And I no longer drive at night so I am on Dawn to dusk restrictions. No night hours

I have been on hold with Sedgwick for over 3 hours now. I was assigned a Claim # and was told someone will contact me to schedule an adjuster to come out and assess a leak from my dishwasher, a Sears product with a maintenance agreement. The claim was filed 2/27/23, with no contact, despite my numerous attempts. I may go to our state AG's office.
