bad business practices
In August of 2007 I was solicited by a representative of Safe Home Security. After listening to his long speal, I was told I would need to sign a two year contract. After two years, I contacted Safe Home Security to non-renew the contract. I was told that the contract was for 3 years not 2 (scam). In July of this year, I contacted Safe Home Security Again to non-renew my contract. They require 60 days notice and if they do not receive 60 days notice, they automatically renew your contract for another 3 years without your permission or signature. In researching this company on the internet, I found a lawsuit filed against Safe Home Security by the CT Attorney General for illegal non-renewal of contracts. If you are thinking about a Home Security System, please view the this website before signing and make your decision. Extremely Bad Business Practices.

scam
About a year ago, I recieved a letter in the mail that I was eligible for a free alarm system. It clearly stated that I could cancel at any time and someone would come pick it up the next day.I used it for a few months but the bills they sent me were too expensive, so I called the company to cancel. Imagine my surprise when they said I had signed a 3 year contract and would have to keep making monthly payments. I didn't sign anything! I stopped making payments and stopped using the system. Now, I am always getting harassing phone calls and notices asking for money. I'm very disappointed in Safe Home Security.

Waste of time and money. System looks fancy and professional but does not work. Around three years ago two guys knocked on the door and gave their spiel on the system and crapped all over the existing one I already had. They showed us paperwork on lawsuits and BBB complaints on my exsiting provider. I agreed and allowed them to install their garbage. Previous provider was Pinnacle Security. I signed waivers and documents and they assured me this would cancel my previous agreement with no charges or cancellation fees. Complete lies. Around six months after install the system starting making noises beeping and squelching. When we called to have it looked at we were told there were no service technicians in our area. Not in the province. Not even in the country! We live in northern Alberta Canada. Our previous system would alert someone if a fire alarm went off ( smoky pot on the stove) or if one of the kids bumped the plug out of the wall and a rep would phone our house immediately, ask the password and check in.We ended up disconnecting it ourselves and of course no one called to notify us that our system had been tampered with. That was two years ago. We've had $60 a month come out of our account every month since the install.I finally reached a person this evening in San Ramon California and told them I wish to cancel their " services". We'll see how this pans out as I was told there will be no cancellation fees. Furtermore, we recently found out we were in collections for breech of contract and cancellation fees from our previous provider whose parent company is now ADT to the tune of over $2500! Another huge scam. These alarm companies are disgusting extortionists only to be rivalled by insurance companies ( trust me I own a collision repair shop and insurance companies are the ### of the earth!). Buy a dog or blast a few rounds in the air every once in a while and word will get out that your crazy and chances are no one will mess with your property. Truth be told this whole alarm system thing is a huge scam. These creatures at Safe Home Security should be shot with a ball of their own excrement.
I'm having problems with them myself as we speak. Very rude operators calling to collect for a period of time the system wasn't even monitored.
The Company Safe Security - 2440 Camino Ramon #200 in San Ramon, CA is unscrupulous bunch of scam artists... who are running essentially a protection racket. Once you get in - you can't get out. they continue to bill you even after you have cancelled service. They have automatically renewed service AFTER we called, than wrote and emailed and spoke to the better business bureau. Pass this around. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE.
I had safe security for over three years. I paid on time every month while I had it. I then sold my house after 3 years and 3 months of service. When I tried to cancel my service I was told that my contract was automatically renewed and would have to pay for the rest of the year even though I was not going to use it. I did know that I was signing a three year contract bu I did not know that it automatically renewed every year after that. Now since I canceled last July and paid for a year of service I have never received a letter in writing stating that my account was closed and contract fullfilled/ no longer active/ $0 balance etc. And when I called today, 10 months later, they stated that the cancellation was still being processed. This company is very untrustworthy to say the least and I would discourage anyone from doing business with them.
Cancellation of service
I signed up their home security service over 2 years ago. Due to a job change, we were moving to CA from MA. We are currently selling the MA house, and I asked Safe Home Security to cancel my account. Initially I called the company, and I spoke to Justin Lavoie, and he asked me to submit a written letter of cancellation. I had written a formal letter to them in Feb 9, 2010.
And I thought that it was the end of the service. I called the company a few times to see if they received my email. No one got back to me.
Now it is March 30, 2010, and I just received another invoice from the company.
I just called and spoke to Alison. She didn't give out her last name. She said she couldn't cancel my contract. She's asking for a closing document for the house in MA. My house is on the market, and I am not sure when it's selling. Meanwhile, according to her, I still have to pay for the service. But no one lives in the house.
Alison wasn't reasonable. She kept bringing up the contract clause that they need a closing document before cancelling.
Also, they never return my voice mails. Or reply to my emails. Very unprofessional.
I would like to warn everyone in public to watch out for this company. They are evil. They are not reasonable and receptive of customer's situations.
Do not use "Safe Home Security, Inc".
Regards,
kj
By the way, the contract was for 2 years. They still don't let me cancel. They want to see my contract document. I will have to find it.

There is no way out of the contract. They were supposed to send me a copy of my contract to my email. They got my email wrong so I had no idea what was in my contract. It's costing me $731.88 a year and they had me locked in for 5 years! I've had the system for 2 years and 3 months so I was informed that they will charge me 90% of the 3 years I have left on the contract! Customer service said I couldn't reduce my payment until the contract was almost up. Is there a way to take them to court? I know you can report them to the BBB, but it doesn't help unless I can cancel this contract. By the way, I'm on Social Security; they should be ashamed of themselves. I really don't know what else I can do to get out of it, and I also heard that they renew your contract without telling you. Isn't that illegal?
Has anyone figured this out,my grandmother lives in a 55+ trailer park, that specifically says "no soliciting ",but shortly after she had her stroke she was sitting in her back yard(I would say not completely recovered from the stroke)when a person from safe home walked through the front and into the back yard and sold her a contract that they said wasn't up until 2027,how is that possible, and there wasn't a cancellation fee they talked about when I called to cancel, they just straight up told me that she cannot end the contract until 2027...i can't get of them to have them send me a copy of the contract,on top of that they told her they would cancel her old security system and never did.
They said that they added a system in my home. They lied I have never had their system. They keep sending me messages saying that they are monitoring my home. I want to Know where is the system. I’m going to report them to the Better Business Bureau.
my name is h bann ilive in kc mo.i had no door bell ring for 1 wk I CALLED FOR FOR A WK they told me to try to ffix it myself because they had no one in kc mo tocome out and fix it so i wrote my cancelled letter to customer care.1125middle st.middle town ct. zip code 06457 dec.1 2022 this co.is a scam.I HAVE HAD NO SERVICE I HAVE A NEW ALARM SYSTEM .I NEVER RECEIVED MY CERTIFATION NOR CONTRACT. I am moving into a senior citizen home and no longer need your service. please remove this service as soon as possible. The new senior citizen apartment/home has its own system. Please forward me the last bill to my e-mail address.
I'm trying to cancel (buyout) our "Monitoring Agreement" with Safe Home Security. I have read the agreement, and I have sent a registered and tracked written letter to Safe Home Security,1125 Middle Street, Middletown, CT 06457. I have agreed to pay the "%90 payment" of "stated terms." Safe Home Security received the letter on Monday, Sept. 19th, 2022 at 11:25 am. I have since called Safe Home Security's customer service number(s) and was told that it is too soon for them to "scan in my letter," and it would be about two weeks before they would be able to do so, and, after, they would send me information as to where I should send the "buyout fee" etc. I fear that this is a dodge. How long does it take to "scan" a letter. I have already made arrangements to monitor with another company, and time is of the essence. I can put off the other company, but since I already have agreements with that trusted company (bundling) I would prefer not to do so. I may have to consult an attorney.
I'm trying to cancel my contract with Safe Home Security. Because of poor service (it's like pulling teeth to get someone to come check and service their equipment), I want to go to another company. I read their agreement including the "Early Cancellation" clause, and have informed SHS, by letter, that I agree to the "%90 if stated terns" buyout policy. I have already been in consultation with the new monitoring company I with which I want to do business but I fear SHS is going to drag its feet so that I'm forced to continue with them. I wish I had read the reviews on this company before signing any agreement.
I bought a house with their product installed and active. I called them to have it switched over to my name. They signed me up for a 3 year contact without telling me. When I called to cancel it they tried to make me pay the whole 3 years worth of service. Definitely a scam. They’re adding more and more money to the total every time they send a new bill. Waiting for them to try to take me to court over it so I can inform the judge of what they’re doing.
I just vented about my frustrations trying for years to cancel with shs, sure hope it got posted.
I don't have a complaint I'm just trying to get system #J169062 canceled as of my conversation in September
deceptive contract
This company has a deceptive contract that they enforce no matter the customer's circumstances. I let them know by phone 4 months before the end of our 36 mo. contract that I did not want to continue doing business with them. I wrote them a letter a month before the contract expired asking them to come and get their equipment and saying that we no longer...

The system has not operated for at least a year and they will not send out a man with the correct part but keep billing us. Phone calls are just a run-around and they don't return the calls.

lies
I tried to get out of my contract last year, so I paid $344 to get out at 30 months of my 36 month contract. Now, they say I didn't cancel correcly and have to pay the final 6 months. WHY WOULD I PAY UP FRONT $344 IF I WASN'T CANCELLING!?!? I asked the supervisors if the employee that cancelled my account was still working for them, and she is not. Go figure. I got lied to and it is now costing me an additional $180 to "fulfill" the contract while not having service for half the life on the contract. Very bad business, and a very upset customer that hopes others think twice before using "Safe Home".
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
immoral business practice
my contract was up with them, i called to revise the new contract for a lesser amount per month (dropped the maintainance fees), they sent me the new contract, I signed it sent it back and yet month by month the continued to bill me for the original contract. calls, calls just did not help. I just stopped paying hoping they will discontinue my service. Last...

Hi everybody,
I am writing to support Safe Home Security, they do not have any bad people that work there, nor do they take advantage of you! I think all of these complaints are from the people who CHOSE not to read the 36 or 60 month contract before you signed it! If you read it you would understand the 30 month clause, or the rollover terms if you did not send in a cancelation letter 60 days prior to the expiration date. I f you actually take the time to research SHS youll find that they have a little over 65, 000 customers, and only about 4-5 thousand of them are in the collections department (which by the way is internal, not out sourced). So there is 60, 000 happily paying customers, also if you research the company, they have a 98% satisfactory rate graded by customer surveys. Do not listen to all these other complaints, as they are from individuals who did not read, and or understand the contract before they signed it, do not run from the company, just read every letter on that contract before you sign it. As for the rest of you on this site that are customers, cancelling your account is as simple as sending in a WRITTEN cancel letter, and calling in to find out how much you owe (whether you WANNA pay or not) and pay it to term or the 30 month clause. That way you can fix your mistake of not reading the contract, then it wont report on your credit, and then you wont be in there collections department. there collections department phone is [protected]. call it and get your financial future straightened out, as it is most likely your fault your in debt.

I have faxed and mailed the cancellation a year prior, and they still won't end their contract...
I have recorded the phone call knowing that they knew about the cancellation of their services, and still black mailed and harassed me saying I have good credit.
Well lawyer up SHS I'm coming for PUNITIVE DAMAGE...
For some reason it sounds like your a dedicated employee with the company. Not to mention your from the same state as the con-artist .
It seems some people dont read the news. This company has class action lawsuits in practically every state they do business in. They are being sued by the attorney general in CT and have a class action consumer rights lawsuit in mass. they have been booted out of the BBB. Just a few unhappy customers? RUN RUN RUN from this decietful and unethical company.
fraud and scam
We are a military family who lived in Goldsboro, NC. We purchased a home security system from Safe Home Security, but we were not informed that they had no military clause and that there was a set contract length. We were given military orders to move in early 2008 and sold our house in May 2008. Upon selling the house, even though the new owners kept the system, we were forced to pay over $700 to this company. Companies that work with numerous military members such as this one does, MUST have a military clause or they are just practicing unethical business. Circumstances are different for military families, who MUST move when ordered. This company has not responded to any emails or phone calls and they already have a bad mark from my complaint to the BBB. I want to make sure no other military families get scammed!

Shut up ### this company is a SCAM!
Jeremy Torres they way you talk I'm sure you are working for this monkey company
It's point blank people should not sign their names on a contract that they have not read in full. Do they expect a sales rep to sit there and go over everyline on the contract ? Don't complain about signing your life away if you have already signed your life away. You live and you learn, don't sign contracts because you been speaking to a good sales rep.
fraudulent billing / incompetent staff
This local franchise of Safehome Security in Cromwell CT is so incompetent in using their billing system that even after a seven month notice of non-renewal of our contract, they can't remove us from their billing system causing the headquarters to put fraudulent charges on our card. This is going on for half a year with constant disputes to the credit card company reversing the charges. The credit card company helped out by cancelling our card so they couldn't charge us so now I get a bill for even more money!
Sad thing is, we moved out of our offices in October of 2007 and paid through Feb 08. These idiots can't use a computer but you're supposed to trust them with your security? I think not.
Avoid this company under Safehome Security or their billing name of Safeguard America or the local website of home-alarm-security.com!
Having switched to Vonage for VOIP service at home, I have discovered, 9 months into it, that Safe Home Security does not integrate with Vonage.
After being a customer of Safehome for more than 6 years, I hoped they would offer me some solution.
Instead, I was offered costly upgrades, and told that my contract had an automatic renewal policy in the fine print, and that I needed to inform them in writing 2 months prior to that automatic renewal.
Automatic renewals? What kind of crap is that? They sent me a new contract to sign every year, but I paid a little more to be a month to month customer... NOW I am in a contract? If I block the automatic withdrawal from my bank they will report me to the credit companies..
THIS is how they treat a customer of almost seven years! I had hoped to work things out with them, but every conversation became more insulting!
I have been a client of SafeHome Security for over 10 years. As life throws curveballs I went through a divorce and needed to reduce my expenses. As it happened my contract came up for the security monitoring to end so I opted to do that and was met with a hard sell salesman who convinced me under duress to not cancel but keep a modified monitoring lowering the cost, and also said if I wanted I could cancel after a year...Well THAT was a lie and since I was stupid enough to not read the fine print I am screwed. Ten it gets better, I canceled my landline phone to save 30bucks without thinking about Safehome and now i have no means to be monitored. I Have tried to cancel in good faith to no means, even though I now rent out the house and they dont have a land line either I am still being harassed to pay for a service that they no longer can provide due to a contract that they hard sell...This company is a Joke!
I found a couple of typos in my last post, but sadly, I don't see an edit option on this site. Please excuse the grammatical errors.
I'm currently experiencing the same thing and find it hard to believe that these shady business practices are legal. Is ther anything I can do to get out of this? I'm about ready to call the local news and see what happens. If I can't help myself, I would feel a little bettere just knowing that this SCAM has been made public.
Yes I too have been screwed over by these people, I dropped my cox cable phone to save 30 bucks after my divorce ( not thinking about safehome monitoring...)I got majic jack...lol. so anyway they have attached a credit claim onto my spotless credit report since I refuse to pay for the cell tower they want to rent me!
I blocked my drafts after being told I could not cancel one month in advance. I was told that it had to be in writing 60 days in advance. I was separated from my husband and moved out of the house. I paid for four months through the end of my 3 year contract even after I moved and it was disconnected by my ex husband. Over a year later they are still billing me for service each month and have put it on my credit which is ruining my excellent credit. They add charges for service plus late fees each month. It is unbelievable that it is legal to do this.
This company is fraud stay away from them it will cost you alot of money and no service i had to pay $200 just to get rid of them worst company i ever dealt with in my life. Beware of sales guy all they care is you sign the contract and its like sign your life to someone else. these people are not here to protect you or your family they are here only for money money and money

I to was a dumy. i was on a survey, took the trial offer and got scamed. there were no phone numbers on the offer but i thought there would be with the trial shippment.NOT, only a web sight. when i went to bring it up, all that would come up was a picture of the bottle of colonsmartcleasner, when i clicked on the bottle it would take me to another sight. i tried several times the same thing kept happening. So there i found a phone number so i called it. they kept saying they had nothing to do with colonsmartcleasner.needless to say i was very angry.then i thought well when it comes in i would just put on it return to sender and wait for a refund. well it never happend... my bank said they couldnt do anything for thirty days from the day i sent it back. so i waited filled the dispute and waited four days for the results.. well then i get the results from my bank... NOT HAPPY my bank sends me some copys off the internet from colonsmart stating there is only one way you can receive a refund.you have to follow four steps. one of thoughs steps are they do not except Return to sender packages as a way for refund. what they dont say is that package i sent back is theirs now and you get nothing for $88.98.now it said nothing about ANY policys when i ordered the free samples.and when i got the free samples it had nothing of any policys either. so im out the money and the FAKE product(COLONSMARTCLEASNER). OH DID I MENTION YHE PRODUCT DID NOTHING... I TOOK THE SUPPOSEDLY FREE SAMPLES AND HAD NO REACTION ! if there is anyone out there that can help me get my money back.i would be very happy... oozman.com@live.com TO EVERYONE------ STAY AWAY FROM COLONSMARTCLEASNER ! does not work
A Non-certified general contractor came to my home to install the system in July of 2006 and drilled two holes in my walls that I had to repair. They came back to install properly and I signed up for autopay through my checking acct and they made me sign a new agreement. The system stopped working because it does not work properly with my phone system, I've always had Vonage but they say I must have switched. I was told that the autopay did not charge because they were getting "jibberish" and needed to send a repairman. He came and fixed it and I received a bill for back charges. I called to find out why and they said it again stopped working and they'd have to come fix it and the charges would be corrected if I'd sign up for another 3 years. I was concerned why I would have to do that so I refused. They keep accruing charges and will not fix my system unless I renew for 3 years and let them come back to install more equipment. Jill Kesses says they developed better software so it will work now so I need to either renew or pay. They never drafted my checking account, but kept accruing late fees because they said they'd take the charges off once I renewed. My credit is screwed and so am I unless I pay.

They did not draft my account and I paid dearly
terrible service
We entered into 3 year contract with Safe Home Security in June 2005. We agreed to pay extra monthly fee for parts warranty. I about 4 months our alarm system broke and we called Safe Home Security to schedule an appointment for service. But nobody showed at the scheduled day. We kept calling and scheduling the appointments for 4 months until we actually got somebody in the house to fix our alarm system. Throughout all this time Safe Home Security continued to debit our account (we had an automatic payment plan with the company). We had to go through the ordeal in order to get the service we were paying for.
In about 2 years, the alarm system broke again. We called again to schedule the appointment but, just as 2 years prior nobody showed up in our house. We rescheduled the appointment twice but in vain. Finally both my husband and I gave up and figured it would be cheaper for us to pay until the contract expires, rather than waste our time scheduling appointments nobody shows up for.
We properly notified the company about discontinuing services with the company due to expiring contract. We received the confirmation letter from the company. But guess what: the company still continues to debit our account even AFTER the contract has expired. Now we go to the bank each month to file ACH (Automated Clearing House) in order to dispute the transaction.
This company is a mess. I found out that it has numerous litigations against it based on consumer complaints. Our advice - Stay away from Safe Home Security. It is not Safe, it is Dangerous.
Safe Home Security (SHS) does not meet its guarantee certificate commitments. Locked in rates - SHS attempted to increase rates as soon as system needed service. Lifetime warranty - SHS charged for part and did not deliver part or perform service. Best customer service - after multiple phone calls could not get a service scheduled from SHS even after escalating the issue to management. Attempted to cancel contract but SHS appears unresponsive. They are, however, continuing to take their monthly fee even though they are no longer performing the monitoring service.
Agree. I just experience the worst customer service ever.
Worst company we've ever dealt with. I agree with all the complaints I've read because unfortunately we are experiencing the same thing. I'm surprised this company still exist. What's the Attorney General and Better Business doing?
I didn't know that my contract was up to cancel it. Now they tell me that after 3years they don't have to tell customer when the contract ends. And can't cancel it. But will charge me $89.00 per hour to come and hookup the system to my phone line. So they want money that they don't earn in monitoring fees. I have faxed them and called for 3 days and only get rude people telling me that i can't get out of my contract. This can't be legal and is not professional. This company should have there doors closed because all they are doing is scamming people.
This company is horrendous. I had a three year contract when I tried to cancel I was told I had to do so in writing BEFORE the contract was up and if not I was automatically on the hook for another three years. Only way to get any discount is to get friends and family to sign up with them. Why would I subject friends and family to such disgusting service. The customer service rep was rude to me on the phone and told me he had no supervisor but the president of the company and that the president would never speak to me. If there is no administration between the president and the customer service reps no wonder it is so poorly run. I highly doubt that though and think a dishonest customer service rep is more likely.
i am a former shs employee, you as customers have no idea how rude, disrespectful the employees at this "business" are. there is rampant swearing, talks of violence, sexual harassment, homophobia, and blatant lies. this place is full of deceptive business practices. those contracts are designed to rip you off entirely. prices for compentents for the systems are made up. this place had to be the most unprofessional environment. i am so sorry for anyone who has been duped and ripped-off by this company. attorney general blumenthal needs to stick it to this animals and stick it hard.
I agree. I have cancelled with this company in April as well as sending a letter in May & they still are taking money out of my account. They do NOT reposnd to calls. I will be calling the Better Business Bureau in Ct.

harassing former customers
We had a contract with Safe Home Security, Inc in 2002. During this time we had countless problems with their wireless alarm system, which they never fully resolved. In September 2005, we informed them we were moving and that we needed them to come and uninstall the equipment. They took weeks to get back to us and finally did days before we were leaving the house. They claimed they could schedule an appointment to move the equipment the week after we moved and that they wanted a fee of $750 to remove it. This was never in the contract.
We left the home with the equipment still installed but deactivated the account.
We sent them a formal letter via fax in October informing them of our move and that we were terminating the contract. In December of 2005 they contacted us claiming we never canceled the account and that we owed them $914. We again faxed them stating the account was closed and that we no longer lived at that residence.
6 months later (June 2006), they sent a letter to our new residence claiming we owed them $914 + interest and late fees. They also informed us they reported this incident to all of the credit bureaus. Until this incident, we had perfect credit all of our lives. Anytime we called them on the phone, they were insistent that we owed them this money and would incur late fees for every month we didn’t pay it.
We ignored these letters until we received one on March 1st of 2007 where they threatened to take legal action against us unless we paid them $3580.30 which they claimed was only a portion of the back balance owed ($1433.22). They also stated we were required to sign a new agreement. To close the account they claimed we would have to pay them $1562.19 and send them a cancellation letter by 06/04/2007 otherwise the account would roll over for another 36 months.
We are now going to get my attorney involved and inform the local news channels and Better Business Bureau. We have never experienced such unethical services and harassment from a company and hope that you read this report before signing a contract with this company.
I live in California and have experienced all of the above tactics that people are complaining about. They never come to service the equipment. They call and leave a message saying "this is ______ and we noticed that your equipment needs servicing. Please call me at this number -------. and extension number ------. When you call the number and extension you get no answer but you get the recording that you have reached Safe Home over and over. I suppose this "fake attempt to call you to service equipment" is their way of covering their A__ ___, so that when you try to cancel they can say they tried to service your equipment. They also have told me if I terminate early then I have to pay the same monthly fee I would have even though I do not have service. Therefore, you can NEVER CANCELL! They also tell you that you have to cancel in writing something like 6 months before your contract expires or you cannot cancel. When they told me I would be charged the monthly charges even if I terminated early in September, 2017 then I will still pay the charges until March of 2018. I told them "cancel" means you do not have the service anymore so how can they charge you for something that you don't have? They said they can, based on the contract. They also renewed the contract without any notification to me and no copy of it until I insisted on a copy. When I told them that their contract says they are with ADT security, they denied it, yet their contract says they are selling you an ADT alarm. They said they have never been with ADT yet they are using their name (probably illegally). My alarm box that they installed even says ADT, not Safe Home or any other name. They are truly a fraudulent company, dishonest, a SCAM, etc., etc., etc. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY NO MATTER WHAT THEY OFFER YOU. I am contacting the California Fair Trade Bureau to go after them as well as the California State Attorney General Office. I WILL cancel my contract early and I WILL NOT PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT I DO NOT HAVE. If they touch my credit, then they will be looking at a law suit. They are messing with the wrong person. I think ALL of the people that have had trouble with this company should file a class action lawsuit against them. I am going to find out what I need to do to start a class action suit.
Here we are in 2017 and they are still harassing, threatening and intimidating customers. My 90 year old mother had to leave her home due to her health. I tried to cancel her contract with Safe Home Securities. They told me even if she died she was responsible for 90% of the contract left which is 3 years. I will not pay them and will fight them as long as it takes.
Looking to clean up shop on these fkers. Can anyone refer/suggest any lawyers in California?
SAME AWFUL EXPERIENCES AS EVERYONE ELSE. TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, ARROGANT STAFF, NO WAY OUT...EVEN AFTER YOUR THREE MISERABLE YEARS ARE UP. HANDS DOWN THE WORST COMPANY I'VE DEALT WITH IN MY 10 YEARS IN NORTH CAROLINA. I WILL BE CONSULTING WITH AN ATTORNEY TO SEE WHAT I CAN DO TO KEEP THEM FROM HARMING ANYONE ELSE
Bottom Line in regards to the agreements...--> READ WHAT YOU SING FOR! If its a 3 yr agreement...its a 3YR AGREEMENT! Didn't you guys learn how to read? I NEVER sign anything without reading first..DUHH! You cant believe no one these days...
We are currently having problems with this company. I have never dealt with such rude miserable people before in my life. My husband's mother had a contract with this sham company, apparently, for home security services. When she became ill and had to be placed in a medical facility, we had her bills forwarded to our home and contacted all her utilities and other services to let them know that she was no longer living at her address and no longer needed them. We had no problems with anyone, including her cell phone, her digital cable, her internet and her home warranty company...except Safe Home Security. We at first had no idea that she even had an alarm, as it was not visible at the house when we had to go clean out her belongings, and the first bill that we received for her from them was a nasty letter claiming that she was behind on her payments. I made the payments, as I have done for all her other bills, and we contacted the company and told them the story and were told that we would be sent a final bill. The next bill was 85 dollars (insane for a monitored security system; ours is 15 bucks a month) and we paid it...and a month later began getting calls from the "collections" department. They were rude and abrasive from the first call, claiming that we/she owed back payments and that we were irresponsible people who were trying to get out of paying bills. They have called our home at 7am and 9pm, and have since denied that they did so. They have been rude and abrasive and several of their "collectors" barely speak English. I just got off the phone with them again, this time demanding a 350 termination fee for a contract that we didn't even sign. Honestly, I'm to the point now where I feel that we are not liable for a contract that we've never even seen for a person who no longer even knows that she is in the world...the whole situation has been very stressful for me and my husband with her illness and all the bills involved, and these people have made it worse by their behavior and their dishonesty. As far as I'm concerned, these ###s can sue the estate when my mother in law passes. I have asked them for copies of the contract, which they have refused to send. They have refused to send paper statements as I have asked, and instead have demanded my email address so they can send them electronically, which I am not willing to do. We have nothing at all in writing to substantiate the money they are demanding. Honestly, I think I'd pay a lawyer 500 bucks to get out of paying them the 350 they claim we owe, that's how nasty they have been to us from the very beginning. DON"T do business with these people or allow them to prey on your elderly loved ones, please.
Safehome is the exact opposite of what an alarm company should stand for! There ultimate goal which should be Security and the welfare of life and preservation of property! They have no right to currently be selling Security Systems! They have no clue what security systems are, they are the ultimate in LICK UM AND STICKUM EXPERTS.!They are the most horrific company I have ever had to deal with in customer support! There licenses should be revoked in all states.Time is against them, poor service eventually will choke this BEAST!They are going down, sell your multiples now or be worth nothing.Your only chance of being a real Security Company has past you!YOUR DOOM IS ON THE WAY!
angrycustomer57, you need to contact the AGO in Ct and complain. I don't understand why it's taking so long either. I finally got mine settled but it cost me 800.00 in attorney fees to do it...I would have paid 3 times that to get those monkeys off my back. They truly are pond [censor]. I went through hell and back and I have all the paper work proving it...still wasn't enough. I hope future customers do their homework and check these sites 1st. Hopefully you kept all your documents...but I hate to tell you, you're probably still going to have to get a lawyer. There will be no getting away from them if you don't. Well you can try small claims court good luck with what you're going through.
I agree with all the negative posts here. I used to be a happy customer until I tried to cancel my contract after the initial 3 year term. Sent in my cancel request letter with 60 day notice etc according to my contract and yet they continue to withdraw funds from my checking account. When I filed fraud report to my bank to stop the unauthorized withdraw they started sending me bills with late fees attached. What a bunch of crooks. I don't understand why the state of CT can't shut them down. If there are any attorneys out there, please start a class action suit.
Dear Happy Customer, What I failed to mention in the previous paragraph was my contracted was up for renewal, I cancelled well withing the 60 days required within my contract. I even got confirmation from them prior to the 60 days that they did indeed receive my letter and my service will end at the end of the contract, they stopped the EFT from my bank account, I never got a bill from them or any notification from them and still all this happened. This is what they do!
there is no out of the contract!
This company will tie you in to a five year contract make all types of offer and once you sign the paper work there is no out of this contract they will not even charge you an early termination fee, they told me they will just ruin my credit and report me to the credit bureau. So if you loose your job or if you find out that your child is ill and he requires expensive meds you can not break this contract. They are money hungry and once my contract expires in dec of 2008 i will leave this company never giving them any of my business.
Thank you,
Marta

i finished out my contract with safe home in august of 2015.. but as of now 02/20/ 2017 they are still reporting to credit report late payments and a false balance... i finished my contract with zero balance in 2015...contract was only for 3 years! I do not understand?
This company is a complete scam, they charged us an extra month service fee because according to them, we needed 60 days to cancel, however when we spoke with one of their supervisors they stated that I could cancel anytime after my contract was up.
Hi .. I'm having issues as well so can you show me the contract ? because all I have is a pink piece of paper
This company bought put my ADT contract & "renewed it with me. No one discussed a 'binding contract'. I am moving aout of the area & am still studk with another 2 years on my contract. What a rip off!
I had the system for three years. My alarm went off 5 times in that period and they only responded twice. Thank God nothing happened it was an error, but no phone call and no followup, no dispatch to police. I then decided to cancel it and it was coming due end of May. I called at the beginining of May and they had already renewed my contract. I was told they needed a cancelation in writing 60 days prior. Never got a bill. Was never told about the 60 day notice. Never in 15 months got any communication from them mind you. I just checked Credit Karma and found that my 857 credit score is now 654 with Experian. All these years of A credit ...these unprofessional people made that all go away with their callous attitude. People protect yourselves and your credit and do NOT give your info to this company they will ruin you!

We too have been duped by Safe Home Security. In May of 2010 I received a call from "our alarm company" thanking us for being such good customers and letting me know our contract was soon to expire. They offered us some "free" service if we would sign a new contract. Unknowingly, they had already sold our contract to a another alarm company and we were already being serviced by this "new" alarm company. Selling contracts is a normal business practice just like selling mortgages. What is unscrupulous is to make money off the sale of a contract and then try to dupe the same customer into signing a new contract. I doubt anyone would trust their home to be safe knowing their alarm company is involved with fraudulent business practices. That was the first thing Safe Home Security did illegally. You're not going to believe this...THEY FORGED OUR CONTRACT! My spouse and I are "married" by NJ State Civil Union. I took her last name. We own our house together and our bank account is joint. I happened to be home when the tech fraudulently gained access to our home. Not realizing it at the time, he had to gain access in order to reprogram our system. I thought it was taking him a long time and it seemed strange and when I asked about the name change he told me it was still the same company; the same VP, that's all. They knew very well they had sold our contract. I digress...the contract was filled out in my spouses name but she was at work. The tech asked me to forge her signature. I told him I would never do that and signed my name. You're not going to believe this; a couple months later Safe Home Security sends us a Welcome Letter and in the envelope IS A COPY OF A FORGED CONTRACT WITH MY SPOUSES NAME SIGNED. Fortunately I keep everything and have the copy I signed. They've been hounding us saying we owe them for monitoring services. I've sent numerous letters and have spoken to numerous employees most recently from their Collections department. We actually filed a complaint on them with our local police department. We're preparing to take them to court (they just threatened me with court). I can't wait; I have all the documentation to prove my case. But I doubt it will do any good other than get them off our back. I have no delusions of anyone going to jail but it sure is fun to think about. These businesses must suffer consequences or they will continue to prey on the public. Our true alarm company sent a warning letter to customers advising us of Safe Home Security's fraudulent practices but it was too late for us. If there is anyone else out there who suffered this same scenario, let us know.
