Weight loss grants program
It is not actually a grant. The refer you to a partner, and this is how they make money.
For my wife, the partner helped, she reached her goal. The conditions for the grant was losing a certain amount of weight. It was tight, but she did it. However, when trying to collect the money, that is when the nightmare started. Maybe they expect people to no make it.
Anyway, 5 months waiting for my $900.
Excuses and excuses... They just want to talk over the phone, and over their own message board. No emails.
They kept stalling. They said the file was not received, then that there was a problem, then asked us to be patient because there was a backlog (funny is that you can't enroll so to avoid too many applicants having no funding, so this should not happen), then that a person there was taking too long to review things, then a person would get in touch with another one and would quickly look it up in the issue.
Everytime one different excuse, trying to buy time.
That is when they deleted the conversation history on the message board they own and control, and I saw a CTV news piece and found others who did not get their money as well, on Reddit. Then it sounded like a scam. I started to look for information, because there was no negative review when we started, and we notice that the group Oral Aesthetic Advocacy Group, a FOR PROFIT organization, is the same from the Cosmetic Dentistry Grants and I noticed a loophole they are exploring and found the many people complaining about it.
The practices are shady. You only get money if you leave a comment in a thank you letter that they can use along with your image. In other words, they buy your review. And they reserve the right to not accept the review on their own unknown criteria, whether it is not good enough or if it makes them look bad.
No money. Five months waiting.
My recommendation is: AVOID THESE PEOPLE and other practices that are similar.
Oral Aesthetic Advocacy Group, the PROFITABLE organization that runs the Weight Loss Grants Program avertised grants for people who lose weight, using their partners, provided you reach the target.
For the weight loss grants, they get money from referrals to clinics, gyms, etc. Then if you reached the goal, they pay you back 20 or 80% of what you already spent. Not really a grant, but it should work. If you do not reach the goal, you are out.
My wife reached the goal before the deadline. She used one of their partners and Fit4Less, entitled to 80% of the partner, and 20% of the gym. The other conditions were to ask for invoices with the customer name on it, not just receipts, which she also provided in October, on her deadline, using their online system.
Their website says it takes 45 days to pay you back. It also says that it won't take new participants if funds are depleted, so we were misled to believe that funds were secured.
We are trying to collect our money, just over $900.
It has been 5 MONTHS! We call, and they keep going around, buying time, giving excuses.
Sent everything they asked, twice: a thanks letter, weight in and weight out documents signed by doctors, signed thanks letter, which was signed before.
They deleted our conversation from their message board, showing they stalled, when they asked for the documents again, 2 months later, to which my wife quickly replied confirmed she had sent. The message deleted contained a date. We should something fishy at that time, when negative feedbacks started popping up all over the internet, so we saved print screens of the conversation, and we have the evidence of their deletion.
After I got bold, since there was a CTV news piece on them, someone replied an email, asking if he/she could call and talk to us. I said no, that from now on, I want everything in writing. No reply so far.
They act like scammers. What is up with this company address showing in Newark? It is misleading! They are in Toronto!
2300 Yong St., suites 1100 and 2002.
And what about the Dalewood clinic, Oral Aesthetic Advocacy Group, Weight Loss grants organization and Cosmetic Dentistry Grants organization, and all sub companies (organizations) and aliases, which are not for profit, but under a FOR PROFIT (OAAG Inc.) organization?
They do not look like honest people. While they sit on our money in their luxury cars, we, that went to them for not being able to pay for weight loss support from professionals, take money from our little saving, to then beg for them to, PLEASE, give it back, because WE NEED IT!
BASED ON MY BAD EXPERIENCE, I RECOMMEND ALL TO AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS.
Sorry about the typos, the cellphone autocorrect many stuff. I said I smelled something fishy. There are other minor typos.
The correct Street name is "Yonge", in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and not in Newark, NJ, USA.

I was spoken very rudely by one of your rep I'm not the patient that was calling and you disqualified the patient due to me calling in asking questions about an office we seen the person at the dental office was not very helpful as I would be doing the leg work an calling when promise a call back that day three days would go by an still not hear from her. I called in a complaint with Ms Johnson on how the office wasn't efficient on getting back I had to do the calling an still had no answers from back from Sept 5th. I than was treated badly and threatened by one of your reps all because I was trying to get the work going an the lady at the offices would talk in circles and still not have an answer for us an repeat the same thing over on things she was suppose to look into. I had been waiting to hear back from Ms Johnson since Monday as promise she was going to call me back that day on a decision. I have been trying to follow up and still no response. This would have never happened if the lady at the dental office would have been efficient I would had never called you and got treated badly bad one of your reps Lindsey. that disqualified the patient just because I had called in to let you know how things were not going at the office. I called the office back after I treated the way I was with the grant program to talk with the office to see what we can do the office was going to see the patient so we can move forward. three days gone by an have not heard anything from the office I called today and she said sorry the grant program said we cannot see you. I said even if he didn't go under the grant program she said this is correct. I'm looking for some kind help here. This all would have not have happened if the dental office would have been efficient and she was not. For example when I last spoke to her she was still going to see the patient we waited 3 days an heard nothing back from her until I had to call today an tells us that you told them for the office not to see us even if the patient was going to pay cash just to get the infection removed as he doesn't have much money to be able to get the rest of the work done an they won't do that now as the office said for you not to see him. Its just a shame that I was doing the right honest thing by calling you to inform you and get treated badly by it and I'm not even the patient by you disqualified him just because the treatment coordinator office made it where I felt I should call in an let you know. The program coordinator tried to contact me over the phone.
I told him to do that in writing.
However, it is related to the weight loss grants organization.
The same people behind the Cosmetic Dentistry Grants is behind the Weight Loss Grants Program.
Same practices. Lost my money.
"free implants" = false advertising
TODAY I saw an ad on Facebook advertising announcing FREE IMPLANTS through Cosmetic Dentistry Grants. I called their Customer Service at [protected] and told them that I had already gone to the free consultation at Smile Select Dental (Los Alamitos, CA). The front office personnel was very professional, found out the whole procedure for ONE implant would cost approximately $5, 327, minus the "grant" in the amount of $1, 600, which is ONLY about 30% of the whole amount. They offered me payment plans to cover the 70% balance (4, 100). I explained that, according to my telephone conversation with the Cosmetic Dentistry Grants Program contact person (cannot recall the name), I expected a grant closer to 75-85% of the cost of the implant (of course they denied anyone stating these percentages.) Since I am in no position to add-on to my already burdensome debt, I declined the grant in question. This was a total waste of energy, time and gas, not to mention the total disappointment and aggravation. On top of all this, the person I spoke to was very rude and confrontational, said I could take the grant or decline it. I asked how the 30% was determined and she said, very rudely, that no implants would ever be free, that this would be explained and the amount of the grant was based on how much funding was available, and that basically I could use it or decline it so others can use it. Talk about Bait-and-Switch and False Advertisement!
Dentistry
When I first applied to the grants program I wasn't really sure on what to expect, I was refer by a fried who had gone through the program and she had a good experience so I figure it wouldn't hurt to try it out.I was call by one of the staff from the program and they immediately book an appointment with one of the offices in Brooklyn.
I have to say that I wasnt expecting too much and I was already very nervous because my teeth were not in the best shape but I was pleasantly surprise by the staff at the dental office and the doctor was very professional. He explained to me what options I could do and they told me right there how much everything was going to be and how much the grant can cover.
It is true that its only a partial grant but at the end of the day is really up to you whether you like to accept it or not.Overall I had a good experience and although I didnt get all the work done I was able to do a big part and I feel a lot more comfortable with my smile.
Unethical behavior
Date of incident - January 4 and January 6, 2017.
Client Number - [protected]
Please note that all correspondence are time and dated in e-mail form with the exception of my phone call to CDG as noted below.
I had been in contact with above-referenced company in the days following December 28, 2016 until January 6, 2017. My application was received (Dec. 28 @ 8:31 a.m.) Followed by a phone call the next day from CDG, my file was assigned to a dentist (Dec. 28 @ 9:17 a.m.), A file had been opened (Dec. 29 @ 11:32 a.m.) And the assessment office was confirmed(Jan. 1, 2017 @ 8:57 p.m.) I called the program on January 4, 2017 @ approx. 3:35 p.m. I was being dismissed by the employee on the phone. At the end of the conversation my assessment was re-assigned (Jan. 5, @10:54 a.m.). At the same time my file was closed (Jan. 5, @10:54 a.m.). With an explanation of "Your file may have been closed voluntarily at your request, or because you are not, or are no longer, a candidate for a Cosmetic Dentistry Grant."
I did not close my file nor did I request for it to closed.
I feel this was unethical behavior and very rude.
Fraudulent services
Please please do your homework about cosmetic dentistry grants.
They are a scam! Not located in the us even though they speak perfect english. Customer service is rude and they do not communicate with the providers listed in their program.
Closely read grant applicant/recipient agreement. #9 - if i am awarded a grant, i will write a thank-you letter to the organization that acknowledges the award. The grant proceeds will not be awarded unless/until a thank-you letter is received. What if your not satisfied the services? If you don't write a letter you will be responsible for payment if services in full. Dont get caught up in fraud!
They do the same thing now with the weight loss grants program.
The same clause is there. If you write something they do not agree with, they reserve the right to fully refuse your letter.
I meant, if they refuse the letter, they refuse the grant.
Of course we wrote a nice letter because the program did help us. But we have been waiting for the money for 5 months now.
I have been contacting people, and so far, I found two people that got their money, out of a pool of many (+25-30) that haven't, and they might not even be real people, or maybe they have a connection. Who knows... I haven't got mine.
Dental grant
I submitted a form to request a cosmetic dental grant, I received an email almost immediately and then was called at about 7:30 pm and then received a second email, I called back and I was called the next day at approximately 10:00 am. I spoke with Courtney and she told me that I qualified for the grant and that I would get a free evaluation but that I would have to provide my debit or credit card information for a charge of 50.00 in case I miss out on the dentist appointment, Courtney then advised that the grant won't pay the full implant procedure and that I would have to pay the majority of the procedure. I advised would not provide with my personal bank information and she advised that unfortunately my case would be closed. I consider this to be a scam because it's false advertisement. The phone number to this company is [protected] ext 2221. They are steeling people's money that is what they are doing.
I got this grant for my son who needed work done lots of work was approved for over 20 grand ..yet we still payed out 9 grand I realized that they used the " grant " money for things like cleanings and charged 50 dollers xs4 to irrigate with mouthwash ..also added over 400 per crown saying it was lab up grades in material since this I've called dental offices and lab if there was a up grade fee it would be $30. They also charged a denture when it was a flipper ( looks like a retainer with a tooth) and I've found that is also a temporary ...
This is a scam. I repeat, this is a scam. There is no advantage of any kind for you to get your dental work done through one of these so-called dental grant organizations. It is simply a scam. If in doubt, call your local TV new room and as them to investigate. Call you local newspaper. Call the Better Business Bureau of the city where the grant provider is located. Ask questions. Don't be a victim.
Never, ever give someone your debit card information. Debit cards DO NOT carry the same protections as a credit card. If someone steals your money with your debit card information, the back is NOT obligated to return the money to your account.
I filled out the application online through their website. Never heard another thing from them. So I called them today and found out that I supposedly opted out. Huh? And how they told me that before we can further I would need to go to credit are.com and only if I am approved for at least 5K to call them back. They won’t tell me how much of a grant they would be giving me. This is all BS and really angers me. To scam the public that is obviously in need. Investigations need to happen. I’m going to be calling a lawyer soon
I went and provided $50 to insure against a no-show.when I kept my appointment, they refunded me my $50. I had no issues. I was not asked any banking information. However, I am still sensing they may be cutting corners with me
I sense a mole
Same here, I have received emails, phone calls then Finally spoke to someone named Nathan. He could not find any dentist available for me, he says all is booked. He try to send me Manhattan while their office is in New Jersey, I accepted that l but when it comes to the $50, it was little bit awkward to ask upfront fee and credit card info. I was asking question and he suddenly hang up on me. in a second I received email on my phone as My File is closed!.. How come he make decision on my behalf and disregard my dental request? I have question, I will freely ask question, his job to help and show the way in! Instead of he should call back and help me out, he closed my files. How nice!...
What ever you tough about me Mr.Nathan I hope you will receive 1000 times more!... and you will. What goes around comes around.
It is a scam. Same thing with the weight loss grants.
And they are not located in Newark, but in Toronto, 2300 Yonge street, suite 2002 and 1100.
It is a scam. And they are not located in Newark, but in Toronto!
I just filled up and got a call when she told me I need to give a deposit I told her right away if I can give it on the day of my appointment but she said I cannot so I went to the internet and check how come they need a deposit I’m glad reading this report they cannot scam me
Maire Preciosa Viloria, Thank you for posting this exchange with the dental care provider. Yu have just saved me a lot of precious time going down the same "rabbit hole."
SJZ San Clemente, CA
yes they are definitly full of it. I went to my consult after being told i was approved for a partial payment but it did not apply to their specials at the dentist. to funny i smelled scam at the dental office the dental offices they go through are in cahoots also
This is the biggest scam. I told them I had insurance coverage for my x-rays and Robyn said we don't accept insurance coverage. Really? I said and I don't pay for anything that my insurance covers. How stupid would that be.
I just received the same thing happen to me.
Here is the email I sent and response:
If you had recorded my conversation with me, then you can provide that for the investigation as I never agreed to the x-ray fee of $50.00 at the time I agreed to provide my debit card info. The rep. who arranged the appointment stated that it is only to hold to confirm the free consultation appointment and I would not be charged the $50.00, unless I miss the appointment. I did not miss the appointment. I was never informed that I would be charged the X-ray fee at the appointment or after the appointment. In fact, the rep. that provided me the summary estimate stated that the consultation appointment is free through the CDG.org.
I just found a link to similar complaints with Cosmetic Dental Grant org. that I found at the complaint board and elsewhere. This is a problem with your organization that has received several complaints of the same issue that I just experienced, and it is enough proof for a major investigation.
You cannot deceive people and ask for my bank card information to hold the free consultation appointment, and then use the bank card information to charge for the digital images taken at the consultation appointment, without my written authorization.
Can you provide the written authorization where I signed and authorized for my bank card to be charged $50.00 to pay for the X-RAY FEE. If you recorded my conversation with you to confirm the date and time of the appt. and you requested my debit card at the time to confirm the FREE CONSULTATION APPT. And you had stated on the phone that my card will not be charged for a fee, unless I miss the appointment.
Hence, I need to be refunded for the $50.00 fee that was charged against my bank account using my debit card on Feb. 23, 2017 immediately.
If you refuse to refund me the fee and I do not get refunded within the next 3 business day, I will do what is necessary to have this resolved legally and file a formal complaint for an investigation of your operation on this matter.

Hello Maire,
You received the program orientation on Jan 23, 2017, and we record all of our conversation of accuracy and training purposes. As per our website and during the program orientation, you were explained that the $50 credit card deposit which was voluntarily given by you, would be applied towards your mandatory $50 x-ray fee. The x-ray fee is non-refundable.
Thank you,
Paula

This email indicates that this consultation was free.
So, I am confused why this dental office charged me $50.00 for the free consultation on Feb. 23, 2017 against my debit card. I never provided an authorization for the $50.00 to be charged after I went to the consultation appointment.
I need the $50.00 that was charged against my checking account to be refunded back immediately.

I went on line to see about a cosmetic dental Grants and found there website. I was very excited. I thought I had found a way to fix something that has been taking my self confidence away. I Called them on the phone and spoke with them. Alex (the lady who answed the phone could not have been more encouraging about the program. She said that i should send my application in right away. Well they responded right away with 3 emails. the first one confermation of my application. second was that i had been accepted into there application program and that someone would be contacting me in the next 48 hours to let me know where and when my frist dental consultation would be. very exciting for myself. Help at last. Then this email came. it read Dear Robert, Unfortunately, we presently do not have a participating dental practitioner that can accept your application based on your proximity. We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience and will contact you in the futurein the event a participating dentist in your area joins our program. Your file will remain open in the meantime and no further communication is required. Sincerely Plula Velasco
I was tld that also, but I called and asked how far there participating dentist was from me. Since I was willing to make the extra 30 minute drive I was excepted. Dentist appointments for that practice didn't open till April 1st. I have an upcoming appt. My advise is to ask for the closest Dentist to you and Don't back down. Nicely say I'll take anything within an hour and a half from my home. Of course your decision. But this is what I've learned. The Dentist I'm set to see has a 5.0 rating. I Don't think a scam would swt you up an appt with that in mind. I called the dentist office immediately after the call and confirmed I was scheduled for the appointment. At the appointment all information will be given. How much help cdg is offering. So far is seems legit.
Update?
A year ago I called about the CDG's and was told they were not yet available in Ohio, but were in Pa. and other state, forget which? This year I realized it's being handled by the old bait and switch marketing scheme by a company with two locations, New Jersey U.S. and one in Canada. Had applied and never got a response? Supposedly there are government grants given to non-profits, not individuals and a dentist can choose to participate, but good luck finding a dentist who even knows what they are, I have tried numerous times!
Absolutely SCAM!
I've been through this, and I wish people would do their due research before trusting any kind of grant like that.
it should be called Cosmetic Dental Scam.
I don't know hat to think. Is this from the WABC radio advertisement? I called them months ago if not a year ago and they resomded with info on setting up with a Dr Moskovitz from YOnkers.so I don't know what is ging onhere. Ilive in westchester county and Wanted to call again . i would like the telephone again if someone would do so So I can try this again for myself and see what is all the Hupla! Which site can I go on?
The day after I applied for this grant which is not a grant at all (it's a marketing scheme) I recieved calls and texts from random numbers trying to sell things and bring me to websites through their links! Do not fall for this! You will get lots of spam after!
hi there I am trying to find this info for a friend and also my mother. What is going on here?
Yes!
https://youtu.be/0DQimvlEpjY
The same people behind the Cosmetic Dentistry Grants Oral Aesthetic Advocacy Group, are now doing basically the same, but jumped from Dentistry to Weight Loss.
They should pay us back $900, and we have been trying to collect it for 5 months.
Misleading advertising
I came across this advertisement on line and was curious because I have been wanting an implant for a missing tooth. I filled out an on line form. Got called right away that I was selected as a candidate and to set up an appointment with a recommended cosmetic dentist. I was reminded twice by phone, once by e-mail, and once by postal mail. This did make me wonder but I continued. It was explained to me that my mouth had to be in good health to qualify and that this exam was at no cost to me. I spent over two hours being examined, X rayed, photoed etc. Turns out I did have two cavities to be fixed that they could do. I said it would be covered by my insurance if I went to my regular dentist. An implant was suggested where there was never a tooth, he told me that I had two teeth missing. I had only one tooth, the last molar pulled. Their estimate for their recommendations was for three implants and came to almost $10, 000, but they could finance interest free. Not until the very end of the discussion was it told to me how this "grant" works. You pay for the cosmetic dentistry up front and then your name will be submitted for a drawing with the hope that some day your name will be picked!
I never heard of a "grant" that required that you pay first with a hope of "winning" the funds. I believe this is an unscrupulous way of drawing in business from unsuspecting consumers as myself. This company is listed all over on the internet in relation to dentistry.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I tried to check with the better business bureau using the Los Angeles address and then the Newark Address and the company was not found.
When I returned the call, they said was to their office in Canada, they said I had to take their word for it that the $50 paid to the dentist for an assessment, would be refunded, and I asked for that in WRITING, they emailed me ASAP that i was no longer eligible ! Thanks for that! I've never had to pay a dentist up front cash, to an office I can't Google anywhere in the city they claim it's even located-with nothing in writing saying I'd be REFUNDED!
I agree this is a TOTAL SCAM. When I got the call they immediately wanted $50.00 to reserve a seat. What the hell?
Same thing here, but with the Weight Loss Grants program, from the Weight Loss Grants Organization (WLGO), which is actually the Oral Aesthetic Advocacy Group Inc., a FOR PROFIT group, the same one behind the cosmetic dentistry grants. But now, this is in Canada.
Many think that the weight loss grants are part of a government grant. It is NOT. Although the WLGO is listed as a not-for-profit, I do not know where they get money from.
They make money from accredited service providers, which are the accredited providers, and then from referrals.
If you lose weight, you get paid 80% of your investment in those providers in 45 days after the deadline. Sounds good, right? If you are up to the challenge, why not?
After gathering all the documentation with weight out signed by a doctor, invoices and everything, even a Thank-you letter required by them in advance, I have been trying to collect my money for 6 months.
NO MONEY BACK. Lots of phone calls. Nothing. Just a headache.
It is a lot of running around, and no money at all. Think about how many excuses you can hear in 6 months, but the money never comes.
For now, it is a SCAM. And they SCAM all sides, service providers and victims like me. If there is donation or funding from any other organization, they are scamming them too.
EVEN IF... AND IF ONE DAY I GET MY MONEY BACK, then it is not a scam, they are just bumbling idiots with poor business administration skills, I would still NOT RECOMMEND anyone doing any business with these people.
Search for more feedback if what you found here is not enough. Besides, they keep creating fake accounts to give Dalewood clinics good reviews, they do the same on Google maps, BBB... What kind of serious business rely on fake reviews to thrive?
Response to "J DAVIDSON"
I had similar experience. (GOOD!) Had to give CC for 1st appointment but at my job we do the same to make sure the person comes for their first appointment. That way the person is more serious. So...I went to the dentist (happened to be close to where I live) right away they refunded the $50 deposit on my cc, took x-rays (no charge) and then I spoke to a great smart dentist. (Smart how? WELL - unlike the fancy big marble office dentists on 5th ave - he explained why in my case pulling wisdom teeth out would do damage to my jaw, and explained other things. With sketches. And we went over my xrays throughly. He also explained EVERYTHING in terms of veneers, what they are made of, why mine sucked, explained bonding, explained why some cavities hurt, we touched upon few pain points I have and he showed me where that specific nerves were and how the other dentists messed up the drilling and how they covered it up (badly), explained the material components used, why I'm feeling pain, and most of all the DAMAGE the other dentists did. Showed the actually accurate ways of solving these problems. The "5 star"-reviews dentists, the 5th avenue as*holes that I trusted and paid up the [censored] did irreversible damage. He went IN. and it was free! NO dentist EVER explained this much, and I ALWAYS paid. My insurance will cover part of it, and I got the letter saying 25% of total would be covered by the grant. So where is the scam? The only thing is right now is I cannot afford MY half so I'm most likely not going to accept the offer, but heck, if I could that would be so helpful. And people are complaining about a thank you letter? You know how many thank you letters I wrote after my [protected] job interviews and never heard from them ever again? Can anyone who had a GREAT EXPERience comment please? (Every time I try to buy ANYTHING off Amazon there are people raving and there are haters...for the SAME product! SO obv there will be there complaining about everything. Just like at my job...everyone is there for the same thing: some hate it and some absolutely love it) Maybe it depends on your attitude...? Just sayin'...
Well... if the bad reviews here are not enough, then be baffled to read it EVERYWHERE.
People will get to their own conclusions.
I responded to the GRANT teaser. After receiving their phone call, I spoke to a CSR and then a supervisor. I requested some general numbers regarding the purported "full cost" of the services such as a crown, and the general amounts of the "grants", so I could see the real cost of the services. I was given no information (they obstructed my reasonable questions), and they implied I was being difficult and "not willing to meet with the selected dentist" to find these amounts out. They gave me a song and dance explanation that different dentists charge different amounts. I told them that their program appears to be a discount program, so the amounts were important to me. They vehemently denied being a discount program. I noticed their emphasis on financing options (which goes against the "grant" concept). The supervisor who was basically a rude, sarcastic [censor] who said: now you're running the program and saying how things should be done...blah, blah, blah.
They make out they are doing you a big favor. YEAH RIGHT ! The program doesn't pass the smell test, and now I discovered this website from a basic due diligence search. THANKS GUYS. This one is a big NO. I saved myself a few hours of time, and probably the refundable $50 appointment fee, which was a obviously risk of non-refund.
It took me about a minute or two to realize that this made no sense, and another minute or two to research customer experiences, such as here and elsewhere . Obviously it's a ridiculous scam and not even a good one . Even if you get a few dollars back, you're paying a fortune so what's the "grant"?
You can shop around and deal with honest dentists for less than these prices minus your "grant" .
I'm sorry for anyone who was suckered into this, it's a travesty and these people - including their plants posting here as trolls - should have all their teeth pulled out of their mouths and apply for their own grant for new ones .
Please share your contats in Costa Rica for dentistry. It would be appreciated very much.
This is very sad that they prey on those that are in desperate need for help. The Attorney General need to be contacted about this phony business.
This company is a fake they mislead customers and take advantage of them! BEWARE!
