Big Lots manager kathleen at store 4316

I was hired on October 30, me schedule was 9-12, The manager Kathleen put me in the break room alone and said to watch 10 videos, I'm assuming training videos, well a three hour shift let me watch 6 videos, then went home, the next day October 31, 2018 my shift was 1-5 Kathleen my store manager had me stand in the front of the store and take tests on videos I watched, I explained I haven't watched all the videos, so I can't take the test, she said lie and answer yes that I've seen the videos, I explained I will fail the test if I haven't been fully trained, she got very angry and changed my no answer to yes, then she said Do you want to quit? I said no, she said hurry up, your to slow, You can't even finish training, I wasn't trained, then 2 more times said Do you want to quit? And she said, I can't use you! Right in front of the customers I was so embarrassed! And said this is why we hire young people! I'm 54! She said write me a resignation letter now and I will give you extra time on your paycheck, I didn't know why she hired Me then harassed, embarrassed me then forced me to resign! I was there a total of 4 hours, why wouldn't she train Me! So I gave her my letter and she said You can't even finish training! Thanks for trying! I am bringing a lawsuit against Big Lots for harassment, forced resignation, and not training me therefore she told me to quit! My lawyer will be happily taking my case, Kathleen the manager at the Redlands store needs to be fired!

Big Lots simmons manhattan living room sectional and ottoman

I purchased this sectional and ottoman at a Big Lots store in NJ almost a year ago and it looks horrible like an old couch. I take care of my furniture and its flaking, peeling and every day it's just getting worse. This is just unacceptable quality furniture. I know its inexpensive compared to other stores but it should last more than a year. Can someone contact me to resolve this issue? Greatly appreciated!

Big Lots sectional couch

Date 10/20/2018 I purchased a sectional, it was delivered and there was a tear on the arm which came from the factory as the sofa was delivered in plastic wrap and cardboard. I had already paid $165 to have it moved to my home and had no way to return the sofa! I live around 36 miles from the store. I did buy the protection plan but that doesn't kick in til a year later. I never thought that if there was a problem that I would actually have to get the sofa back to the store. The manager Brenda or Cheryl said they would use the company JJ to pick up and exchange, but then said no couldn't do it because I used a different company to deliver. JJ's wanted to charge me almost $300 to deliver my furniture. I feel that Big Lots should pay their moving company that they work with to do the exchange and I don't have to try and find a way to exchange the sofa that I just spent almost $400 on, plus paid an extra $165 for delivery. That is what the manager told me at first and then she changed her mind. Once you say it, you need to follow through and she has not! Now, I am not happy. The movers DID NOT cause the damage as the plastic wrap and cardboard were intact.

Big Lots unprofessionalism

I was in the store shopping in the Christmas section when I overheard a couple of employees talking. During the conversation I heard a females voice using foul language. As I came around the corner I saw a Male employee and female employee standing there I noticed their name tags one said Ron and the other said Trish. Ron turned and asked me if I needed any help but Trish just stood there and ignored me. I said "no thank you" and thanked Ron for the offer and then walked away and continued my shopping but I was upset with the language that Trish was using towards Ron.

Big Lots poor service from a manager

I was doing some quick shopping at the Biglots on Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota and I couldn't find an item I was looking for so I decided to ask the first employee I saw and I believe the name tag said Trish but when I went up to her she was just standing there holding coffee and on her phone. When I asked where the item was she pointed with her cell phone like it was an inconvenience and then she turned around and walked away still on her phone and carrying a cup of coffee. I felt that it was very unprofessional and extremely rude. I have been there before and I have never had an employee that rude to me before I won't be going back there for a while if ever again.

I have a confession to make. Trish was not on her cell phone. I was just trying to get Trish fired because she caught me shoplifting and reported me to the security. I lied about Trish to get back at her. I feel bad now. It was a heat of the moment anger and I was hoping to get her fired because she is the one that caught me shoplifting and reported me.

Big Lots customer service by a manager

no help to me or the tons of people that were in line. There was only one cashier and when I asked if he was going to help he said no I'm looking for something, I couldn't believe that there was not one person could've stoped and helped when that is what they are here for. Terrible environment when I was in there just by far the worst experience I have had, Yucca valley store needs new management ASAP !

Big Lots store #5097 bluffton, sc

Store Manager James Wallace was reported for sexual harassment, due to messaging one of the previous young lady employees on a dating website. this man is married with a child and all HR did was tell him not to do it anymore and take down his dating site. Never mind that he was messaging this young lady which is against store policy. Not only that it is said that he also was doing this same thing at his previous Walmart store in Hardeeville SC. There have been people including customers who have stated that he is very creepy the way he looks at them and stares. I believe that he shouldn't be in the retail business, especially working around young women. He should be removed from his position at Big Lots in Bluffton SC and replaced with a more competent and respectful store manager. I also think that the HR of Big Lots should be investigated and Big Lots Corporate Headquarters
Corporate Office
Address: 4900 E Dublin Granville Rd, Westerville, OH 43081
Phone: [protected]
I believe if the ME TOO MOVEMENT gets involved then they will remove him from his position, and the company all together.

Big Lots store in shelby, nc do not hire others of color

I applied to this store a couple months back when they were constantly telling the customer and putting on websites that they were hiring. When I called up there to check on my application, I was referred to the manager. When I talked to the manager, he had already seemed like he had an attitude and was trying to rush me off the phone. He asked me what my name was and wrote it down and checked my application. He then proceeded to tell me that the application was only out because they're trying to find their seasonal hires so they might get back to me if they feel like I was highly qualified. At the same time, I had one of my other friends fill out an application and call. She then proceeded to call the manager and he got her name and tried to schedule an interview with her (my friend was a Caucasian woman.) Now if that doesn't sound funny to you, every time I've been in there, there has never been African-American, Mexicans, Indian people, or any other ethnicity working in the Shelby place. I thought that business was about getting new people to come into the stores and fast, but useful employees with good attitudes. That is probably why this store doesn't get any business!

Your attitude is what didn't get you hired. You cant cry discrimination, and defame businesses, just because you didnt get a job. There is nothing in your post that says you have been discriminated against.

As far as your friend filling out an application:
Maybe your friend has more qualifications. Maybe your friend is more professional. Maybe your friend just had a better attitude.

Big Lots ilive 29 inch sound bar

Good evening,

I purchased a 29 inch sound bar from the Big Lot store in Beltway Plaza on Greenbelt Road, Greenbelt Maryland on 9-30-18. I attempted to set the unit the next day to find it did not work, it didn't power on via remote or manually. I returned the unit to the same store this evening 10-2-18 for a even exchange but before the exchange, I asked if I could test another unit at least to confirm that it would power on in which it did. I was informed that I would have to pay the difference because when I purchased it 2 days prior, it was on sale. Although the difference was small, I have a huge issue with having to pay the difference for a product that was totally faulty. I asked to speak with the manager who was very nonchalant and unconcerned of my issue. I have worked in customer service for over 30 years and know good/great customer service when I receive it. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would give him and this issue a zero! Normally, I am always raving about Big Lots store until now. Please advise,
Thank you,

Big Lots manager told us to wait until the end of month weekend sale to save money on items.

The problem is the price on the object that was on sale for a month went up $50.00 just before the (so called sale) started on Saturday that the new sale started on ! We wanted to buy two Stratoloungers that were normally $399.00 but were on sale for $349.00 . So
we would have saved $170.00 on the two chairs with another $10.00 off per chair that they gave us a coupon for. $530.00 last weeks price went to 675.00 on this weeks so called sale price ! Some sale ! And nobody told us about the chairs going off sale and not only that ! Nobody seemed to even remember that they were on sale for the last few weeks either !( AMNESIA ) ! So I told the manager that there was no way that a sale was going to happen unless he came down $100.00 off the price he had on those chairs that day. He said the best he could do was give me my money back ! I said that's good for me ! The only problem is I have a herniated disc and can't sleep on a bed any more and my wife gets leg cramps sleeping on her side. So now that we have been in pain for three extra weeks waiting for this sale which was really just another way of getting more money out of us ! We still have to go out and find some loungers ! They lost a sale, a customer because I will never go back and I will give them the worst PR they have ever seen ! And they say that they are the only ones who (stack) sales savings one on top of the other ! WRONG ! THEY NOT ONLY DON'T GIVE A SALE PRICE THEY JACK UP THE ORIGINAL PRICE ! STAY AWAY ! Unless you have more money than brains ! This happened in (Farmington Maine) by the way !

Big Lots furniture

I am very disappointed with big lots, with the furniture I purchased! I bought 2 sets of furniture(couch and loveseat). The first set I had only 3 months, and the wood broke in the back and broke through the material! I was able to bring it back to the store(and they still put it back on the floor to sell without the pillows, the sales manager said he didn't need them)I was able to get another set with pillows, and the pillows seams came apart, and the buttons popped off. I ordered new ones from Hobart and they ordered the incorrect ones, still waiting for the reorder! The stuffing is coming out of the love seat, there was a staple protruding from the bottom which scratched my son, the arm is broken on the couch! I went back to the store and they told me I only had a 30 day warranty! That's insane, I can understand maybe products in the store, but with furniture! So now I have to take it back to the store to get more furniture...but why? I also bought a mattoand box springs, only to find out the box springs are infested with bed bugs! This is a nightmare, how is this possible! I did not remove the netting or the staples from underneath the box spring, but tell me how are the bugs in the wood, and part of the material that was staples to the wood? I am beyond pissed, I have never had any kind of bugs in my home other than the normal fly or mosquito here and there! But I have not been able to sleep, I am covered in bite, my kids cannot even sleep in my bed due to the fact of these damn bugs! Some will be done, if this cannot be taken care of at the store level, I will be obtaining help to get this problem solved!

Big Lots corporate event at embassy suites knoxville, tennessee.

I am a guest at the Embassy Suite in Knoxville, Tennessee on Parkside Drive. Last night, August 22nd, 2018 Big Lots had a corporate event at this Embassy Suites Hotel. I got to witness some rude behavior by the Big Lots employees at this event. During the course of the evening, I saw a very polite Embassy Suites Staff deal with a belligerent group of Big Lots Employees (approximately 25) who ate an entire meal and drank multiple alcholic beverages and then refused to pay for it. At the end of the evening the police had to be called to enforce that Big Lots pay for their dinner. The Big Lots employee made acomplete spectacle of themselves by drinking too much and by also being rude and obnoxious to other guest in the hotel. At one point during my dinner with my wife, I was so astonished by their behavior, one of the Big Lots employees asked "What are you staring at"? I informed this person, I wasn't staring, but I was concerned if everything was alright, as they interupted my dinner and spoiled the evening for me and my wife as well. I am quite sure a crude hand gesture was directed toward me by one of the Big Lots employees.

This was an embarrassing evening for Big Lots and a great evening for Embassy Suites as they conducted themselves politely and with self control. My wife and I both have shopped at Big Lots in the past, but if this is the type of behavior this company condones, I certainly won't be shopping there anymore.

Big Lots hicksville big lots cashier - amanda

I went in to Big Lots on 275 S Broadway, Hicksville, NY 11801 on 7/30/2018 with my mom. We purchased $271 worth of merchandise. While we were being rung up we were bagging our stuff and our cashier named Amanda said to my mom "Mam can you please hurry it up?" My mom has Parkinson's Disease and was doing the best she could. We were trying to help Amanda because we did have a lot of stuff and there was people on line behind us. She also threw vitamins we were buying up in the air and went to catch them and dropped them on the floor. She also threw a lot of our stuff into bags and had little concern for any of the stuff we were buying. The whole experience was absolutely terrible. She had wrung us up about 6 months ago and was strange and we were shocked to see her still there. My mom and I shop at Big Lots a lot and have even bought furniture from you. But after this experience, we will not be returning. What she said was appalling.

Big Lots customer service

Manager Gloria at the Big Lots in Covina on Arrow Highway was unnecessarily and abruptly rude to me this morning at 9:50am on July 30th, 2018. I wanted to return a product without a receipt because I did not know the store policy. She defensive shot at me I can't with an attitude. I asked for the store policy but was met with hostility and she rudely pointed to the poster hanging above the cashier's registers. I went back to confront her and she patrionized me by telling me to return to her store. I was telling her she was rude and didn't have to be. She shouldn't be a manager if she has an attitude problem.

Big Lots human resources and dtl

I am an employee that hates working for big lots! The region I work for is aweful as ever! When you call the human resource manager concerning problems she never gets back with you! The district manager we have ERIC VANDERHOOF IS RUDE AS EVER, picks certain managers to talk to when he enters the store. If big lot is supposed to be about the community why are the associates so miserable and feel like they can't speak up for themselves because they will get retaliated against. Then when you work so hard with him it's always your not doing your job! He has certain managers that he lets get away with everything and others not being treated well at all! They are scared to speak up! I was even told he has said some of the managers are slugs! Again, they are scared to speak up! Go in any of the stores and see how the employees feel about your company. Does big lots care about their employees? NO. Some of the stores don't even have a fan in the warehouse to unload trucks in this very humid weather in South Carolina! Is that crazy? Yes someone should call osha on big Lots

Big Lots customer service/manager

7/24/2018 - I came to your store at 8:02 am (in which the store opened at 8am) to return an item. When I arrived your doors were still locked and a worker by the name of Ava was standing inside the doorway. When I told her it was after 8am - she turned her back to me and ignored me. After about 1-2 minutes the manager Justin arrived at the doors to unlock them - as I walked into the store Justin never said a word to me. I then proceeded to the register where again I was not greeted by Ava (Cashier). Since she did not get into the store until I did - she was not ready to return my item for me. I then had to wait for them to put register tape in and get the register up and running. Ava nor Justin at this point has still said nothing to me. Once Ava started my return she had to call Justin back over to do an override & he acted like he was being burdened by the whole ordeal. Neither Justin or Ava had any urgency to make my visit to your store pleasant. Once my transaction was done, Ava said nothing to me and handed me my receipt. As I started to walk away - I did turn around and ask for her name & manager's name.
I have never experienced such poor customer service while visiting your store. I love Big Lots and visit frequently but after this experience I'm not sure that I want to return.

Big Lots service

I was in the Sparks NV new Big Lots off of Disc Drive at 4pm today 7/22/18. I was bringing back a cookie jar. I purchased the jar along with approximately an additional $250 that day. I travel for business so today as I was unpacking what I purchased the lid on the jar was not in the packages. I checked them all. I wanted to return the jar. I asked for store credit as my pan was to replace the jar and I did not have the original receipt. I gave this explanation the first gentleman. His first question was did I break the lid? I stated no and gave the explanation again. He then walked me over to a very rude cashier, who was older with very short hair. I gave her the same explanation and she asked me the same question. Did I break the lid. I asked her why I was being asked that question. I told her I would take store credit. Instead she kept callling me Mam is disdainful tone and then called me a [censored]. Finally her manager came over and was no better. You have lost a customer not only to the Sparks store but to Big Lots in general. There are a lot of other stores that sell the same items that actually treat someone as a customer.

Big Lots In-depth Review

In Summary: Big Lots is a retail giant offering a diverse range of products at competitive prices. Pros and Cons: Strengths include a wide product selection, competitive pricing, and a beneficial rewards program. Areas for improvement are in-store wait times and consistency in product quality. The online shopping experience could also be enhanced with real-time stock updates.
