sucky
I was a student at this University for about a year. When I was enrolled, I was enrolled as a transfer student and already had my Associate's Degree. I was told that all of my credits would go through, and it would take a little less than 2 years to graduate. Tell me why, after a year, I was told that all of the credits that were supposed to go through actually didn't, and only then did I have enough credits for an Associate's degree? I won't even go into the lack of an education you receive when you are stuck in classes with people that don't know what they're even learning and professors that are less than helpful. More recently, I decided to again transfer so I can actually finish my degree this decade, and 3 months down the road I am told that because I withdrew, I owe them $2, 000 out of pocket. For what? I have no idea, but I will for sure let my complaints be heard by anyone considering this poor excuse for a University!

U.S. Files Complaint Against Education Management Corp. Alleging False Claims Act Violations
WASHINGTON – The United States has intervened and filed a complaint in a whistleblower suit pending under the False Claims Act against Education Management Corp. (EDMC) and several affiliated entities, the Justice Department announced today. In its complaint, the government alleges that EDMC falsely certified compliance with provisions of federal law that prohibit a university from paying incentive-based compensation to its admissions recruiters that is tied to the number of students they recruit. Congress enacted the incentive compensation prohibition to curtail the practice of paying bonuses and commissions to recruiters, which resulted in the enrollment of unqualified students, high student loan default rates and the waste of program funds.
“Colleges should not misuse federal education funds by paying improper incentives to admissions recruiters, ” said Tony West, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division of the Department of Justice. “Working with the Department of Education, we will protect both students and taxpayers from arrangements that emphasize profits over education.”
“Federal tax dollars must be protected from abuse, ” said David J. Hickton, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania. “This action against EDMC seeks to recover a portion of the $11 billion in federal student aid which EDMC allegedly obtained through false statements and which enriched the company, its shareholders and executives at the expense of innocent individuals seeking a quality education.”
The False Claims Act allows for private citizens to file whistleblower suits to provide the government information about wrongdoing. The government then has a period of time to investigate and decide whether to take over the prosecution of the allegations or decline to pursue them and allow the whistleblower to proceed. If the United States proves that a defendant has knowingly submitted false claims, it is entitled to recover three times the damage that resulted and a penalty of $5, 500 to $11, 000 per claim. When the government intervenes, the whistleblower can collect a share of 15 to 25 percent of the United States’ recovery.
The suit was originally filed by Lynntoya Washington, a former EDMC admissions recruiter, who later filed an amended complaint, jointly with Michael T. Mahoney, a former director of training for EDMC’s Online Higher Education Division. The states of California, Florida, Illinois and Indiana have also intervened as plaintiffs.
The suit is United States ex rel. Washington et al. v. Education Management Corp. et al., Civil No. 07-461 (W.D. Pa.).
This matter was investigated by the Commercial Litigation Branch of the Justice Department’s Civil Division; the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania; and the Department of Education, Office of Inspector General.

I contacted the Dept of Education after being charged for a second semester I never attended. They didnt care. Argosy told me the $6, 000 fin aid I received was not enough and I owed more.Argosy should be shut down. They refused to refund or remove the charges.
Thank you, mimi2007 I totally agree with your statement-"Colleges should not misuse federal funds meant for the student's education." I was informed to telephone the department of education concerning my complaint and they may pull all federal funding for the future which would lead to their not getting as many students to enroll. I am definitely going to check out the other directions you discussed, again thank you for your assistance to all who have a grievance.
financial aid
Stay away from this university. It is true.Once you become a senior, classes will be impossible to pass. They use two softwares to make sure you fail class. Financial aid will steal your money and will lie to you.I had a 93 average in a clas and failed. I complained..was told there was nothing I can do about it. Financial aid double bills you and ads bogus charges. You can not believe anything they tell you. I will be joining the class action suit. If you have been wronged join the class action suit..
They are real nice untll they have all your financial aid money. Why does the government allow this school to steal student's money? I am going to get back every dime that was spent at Argosy. Take this warning serious..Do not go to this school. I am going on facebook and Twitter to warn others about this school..

I am a little scared now because something strange just happened. I took one semester of classes at AUO in March, receives full federal aid, and received a stipend. Then, last week I received a bill in the mail asking for "cash payment" due from February? First of all I did not attend in February? Second of all if all fees were not paid then why did I receive a stipend? Lastly, Federal Aid over rewards do not have to be paid back-you have the option but by law you do not have to pay them back unless the over reward was a result of misinformation on your part. So, being aware of my rights I ignored the bill. The following week I received a letter stating that because it is the holiday season, I can pay back 50% of my bill and the rest will be forgiven; or, my bill will be sent to collections. I smell ###. Thanks!
inaccuarate information
I started Argosy University's on-line graduate school program. For 3 terms I was told 2 classes was "Full-Time". I kept calling and complaining about the amount of work required and I was told it was me. Then I find out that 1 class at the graduate level is considered full-time. I was unable to pass my classes and just kept trying as their employee's, (advisors), told me to.
They had me trying to do DOUBLE the amount of work I was SUPPOSED to be doing and when I questioned it, I was told It was correct. Over and over again, they said the same thing, it's you-not us.That was not correct. I paid tuition for 3 full terms, 2 graduate classes per term. They misrepresented the truth and now I've paid them thousands of dollars intuition which they say is not their fault. Per their policy, they did nothing wrong. They just took my money under false pretences and refuse to address the issue. This constitutes a form of fraud, doesn't it? I certainly feel conned, and I'm out $20, 000.
I'd like my money returned since I borrowed it in the form of a student loan and the lender deserves the money back and I deserve to have the debt removed. It was Argosy's misinformation that caused this situation, they should take responsibility. I'm sure they can afford to pay the 20K much more easily than I can. Oh, I forgot, it's the institutions in this country that make the rules because it certainly isn't the public. Nor is it in the public's best intrest for these types of unethical practices to occur.
total ripoff!
Argosy university is a ripoff. Do not attend this university online. They do not tell you the truth about financial aid. they do not have written withdrawal policy on withdrawal from classes or school. Therefore they can charge you what ever they want and you are left with a huge balance to pay back. If anyone know the withdrawal policy please post it online. This university will take your financial aid money. You will be stuck with our an quality education. If anyone is interested in a class action lawsuit it time to stand up and take action let go.
They are a complete rip-off and will do anything to get your money. They are hunting me down for $2, 000 months after I withdrew from the University!
I agree that Argosy University is a ripoff, and will do whatever it takes to keep your financial aid. I was informed today by the director of financial aid that my academic advisor tricked me into staying at Argosy past the date in order for the classes to start, so that they could get 50% of the financial, wheras I didn't attend any of the classes which started 5/9/2011. Now they have kept all the funds from my financial aid, which prevents me from getting funds applied at my new online school. This is ###, they are not entitled to any of the funds for the second half of the semester. They even went as far to give me WF for those two classes and I was withdrawn before the 9th of May 2011. The academic advisor postponed putting through my withdrawal until the 12th of May 2011, which was three days into classes, so that they would be entitled to the 50% of the financial aid money. Which they are still not entitled too. Now they are constantly sending me e-mails and having different people call, in order to get me back into their school. Which I will never do. Yes I do, feel that a class action lawsuit is in the makings.
Withdrawal Policy
Argosy University considers a student as withdrawn when he or she fails to register for the current semester. A student wishing to withdraw from Argosy University should submit a letter to the Student Services Department requesting withdrawal. Any student in good standing who wishes to discontinue study will be withdrawn. The student must resolve any financial obligations to Argosy University before receiving an official transcript from the Student Services Department.
Withdrawal Date
A student’s withdrawal date is:
The date the student began the withdrawal process, or
The date the student officially notified the institution, in writing or orally, of his or her intent to withdraw.
Any earlier or later date which the institution documents as the last date of academically related activity by the student. For unofficial withdrawals, a student’s withdrawal date is:
The midpoint of the payment period or period of enrollment or
Any earlier or later date which the institution documents as the last date of academically related activity by the student
If a student begins the withdrawal process and otherwise officially notifies the institution of his or her intent to withdraw, the withdrawal date is the earlier of the two unless the institution documents a later last date of attendance. An academically-related activity includes, but is not limited to, an exam, a tutorial, online course activity, academic counseling, academic advisement, turning in a class assignment, or attending a study group that is assigned by the institution.
Although I do have issues with Argosy, I can tell you that they do have a written withdrawal policy. I believe it would be found in the student handbook. The policy is less clear when it comes to their online program and other classes that are about 7 weeks long but the policy regarding the online program does exist.
unethical and ruthless
Argosy University dismisses people after one month after collecting payment for the whole semester. Their policies state that they don't have to return any money after 30 days so they let you register for classes, pay for them hen kick you out without prior notice. They don't tell/ warn you about your status because they are interested in getting the money at all cost. If they put you on notice, you would not register for the class and waste your money because you will not get to finish. It is unconscionable and unethical because you pay for the whole class, not half. The advisers are clueless and untrained about the school's policy. Their compensation must include funding from the students that they register or they would not be complicit in the scam. Whatever the reasons, everyone should avoid this school as they are only in it to place you in debt and provide very little in terms of education.
HELP im in the process of being excepted into this school and one person says one thing andthe next another HELP
Unfortunately If you had really been attending Argosy University, then this would not have happened because unless you do not do your work, they do not remove you from class as long as you paid your tuition. I personally have earned over 100 credit hours with Argosy, and I have been a student since 2008. I can say that I haven't had the best experience with my financial aid but as long as I communicate with them, I stay in my classes.
I am in debt from them and have not gotten anything from them. During the semesters, I would get random emails and phone calls stating that I owed them for something or another. If I had any money, I would find a lawyer to help me get them off my back, because months after I withdrew from the University, they're still trying to hunt me down for more money!
fraud
I was an argosy tampa student in the masters mental health counseling program. I had a gpa of 3.85 and was within one semester of graduation. I was removed from the program and my appeals were denied. My sue process rights were violated and I was unfairly treated by the program chair. The Dean and president reported they "wanted to help" but in the end "were unable to assist me." I have $100, 000 in student loans, all of my coursework completed and no degree. I am interested in a filing a lawsuit and am seeking an experienced attorney for help. If you have any suggestions for an attorney or want to join me in the fight against Argosy please contact me at [protected]@juno.com

People are right Argosy is ripoff...because only gave broken promises not commitments toward education for the student. It only wanted student's money that their hard potential earned awards to make a difference,,, Argosy have been the school because they really exceed their great expectations but they were blinded as everyone wanted the mighty dollars. And that why Argosy U is no more. On March 8 2019 closed it doors for good no can't get to accesses to main websites.
misleading apa information and sallie mae private loans
I am looking for students that attended Argosy University Psy D program (Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology) who would be interested in joining a class action lawsuit against Argosy University in Dallas and Sallie Mae. I was a student at this school who was told by the recruiters that they were going to be reviewed for an APA accreditation. I dropped my classes after learning that APA was not scheduled to review the school for accreditation in 2006. Unfortunately, they continued to promote the school using the same speech through 2009. The school took out over $30, 000.00 in Private student loans in which a part of the loans were taken out after I informed the school that I would not attend their school due to lack of APA accreditation.
Argosy University has also been said to be associated with Sallie Mae Private lending, the school promotes loans from the Private sector even when you qualify for grants. Sallie Mae (Private) has been known to harass their customers with multiple phone calls, provide false information on credit reports (moving accounts back to show that the client is late in payments then requesting an exaggerated amount to bring account into good order status), take away forbearance time that was paid for, charge really high interest rates and use threatening promises to their clients.
If either of your problems sounds similar then please email ([protected]@jameshoyer.com) and let her know what happened to you. I know that there are many more students who are in the same boat. Also, don’t forget to write your Attorney General, State and Government representative. Before Congressmen Kennedy passed away, he was well aware of the problems and advocated against such practices. Let our voices be heard across America.
Documents that you will need
1. Any documents relating to the promise that Argosy University (Dallas) was going to be accredited by APA
2. Any documents relating to loans taken out by Argosy University
3. Any documentation regarding how the student loans were applied to your account
4. Any documents regarding Salle Mae Private Loans
5. Any information regarding Salle Mae Private practices
(I am a previous student looking for other previous or current students that have been promised the APA accrediation or students that have had similar exspierences with Salle Mae Private)

incompetent administration
This is but the first in a series of absurdities. I had sent a single email asking whether I might replace ethics with another class, as I preferred to take ethics in a less "compressed" time period. I was informed the other class was not available. That was the end of the matter. I had never sent a request to the drop/add email address, nor did I send any request of any kind requesting that I be dropped from the class.
Yesterday, however, I went online and discovered ethics was no longer listed as one of my classes. After sending the always-requisite dozen messages, I finally received the unacceptable reply that I had supposedly dropped the class and that nothing could be done about it, end of story.
Obviously, if I had in any way requested that I be dropped from the class, I would not have performed the significant amount of work in completing assignments that I already have. I also would not have taken less than a "full load" of classes since I'm 46 and trying to accelerate the process, though not to the point of risking my ability to absorb what I learn.
The abject refusal of the administration to consider this their mistake and to rectify it has led to my filing a complaint with the accreditation agency. I am so incensed that I'm considering changing to a program at a different university. I've experienced this incompetence from registration to financial aid.
While the Argosy faculty has been excellent, the administration makes Kafka look well-adjusted. I would think twice before attending this university solely because it's administration is incompetent or worse.
I have just enrolled at Argosy (Sarasota) . What a wonderful experience it has been for me. The administration has been very great in working with. No problems here and I highly recommend the Sarasota campus!
unscrupulous practices
I was a Masters Level student at Argosy University for three years. I was three classes away from graduating. I was in my internship program so very close to October graduation. I was placed at a site that was extremely unethical and unprofessional. I was placed at a site that I received maltreatment, slander, harrassment and hostility in the work environment by the owner of the site. I was challenge by the owner of the site about my religious beliefs and constantly harrassed. I was cursed at and constantly slandered by the owner of the site. I went to Argosy two weeks after being placed at the site and requested to be moved. Argosy refused to move me and stated that I needed to work in that environment because it will help me in the long run. I constantly endured maltreatment for 5 months and continue to report to Argosy. I received no help with moving me to another practicum site. I was then placed on remediation by Argosy. After, I disagreed with the remediation plan then I was dismissed from the program. I have over $60, 000 of debt to financial aide, I gave up my full time job, lost my house and closed my business just to finish my education at Argosy and my practicum. I do not have my degree and I have a huge loan that I have to pay back. I am now trying to receive some legal assistant to help me with this situation. Argosy is a scam Uniersity and should not be accredited or allowed to continue to operate. Students that have endured this kind of treatment should received every penny spent to attempt to get an education from Argosy University.

This is very interesting. I am currently 3 classes away from a Master's in Forensic Psychology with Argosy Online. I get notified my student loans are at their maximum, so instead of giving me suggestions they tell me to start paying them for a 12/2010 class. I had been told that this class had been paid for. Not only that, but I can't get anyone at Argosy to tell me exactly how much I have spent so far, except that I now need $2050 to pay off the Dec 2010 class just to get back in. Everything was riding on this degree. I also lost my car and phone and have a daughter. They are not understanding that we do not all have a family unit that can help us financially. Also, they do not offer grants or scholarships. Now I can't get the degree and I now owe for a program that I can't finish. I have a Master's in Business but all of the resume's that I have sent out tell me that I have too much education and not enough experience. I worked and sacrificed so much so that I could try and make a better life for me and my daughter. I kept my GPA at a 3.78. Please let me know if anyone speaks to a lawyer and can give me some advice. I have never defaulted on my loans and I feel so lost. If anyone would like to discuss what has happened for obviously I am not the only one Argosy is treating badly please feel free to email: rhycesdesignworks@gmail.com. Argosy online I had no problem until my loans ran out. Then-it is just money to them.
Argosy University Online is no good. Education what education? This school is riping me off, and I am not learning anything. I made a mistake addmitted it, and the instructor lied about me. He even told me not to contact my acidemic counsler. I am looking for another school. I hate the class, and mention it in the student lounge and the teacher emailed me and said I said it in the post questions to the professor, what a liar. Oh well I want to go to another school and a cheaper one.
I disagree Argosy U was a good education online especially those took advantaged setting their own schedule doing course of work. However, misused the funds for the admission & CEO staff payments than students stipends That Argosy only care about the profits dollar rather than a student's' well being that should have been closed. If Argosy would understand balance the challenges of the school's financial problems along getting bad reputations, they would have come up with objective planned resolutions that would benefit staff and the students that I believe would still existed today. There were professors which who care about the students outcome... some always ask questions on the assignments or project. Some good had resigned or go other universities or colleges to be employed. Overall Argosy Universities Online was good education systems while lasted over 20 years...
Hello,
I would like the students to identify which AU's are the ones that they had problems with and which programs were the ones that seemed to be the problem ones, please.
I would be interested in knowing which AU's the students are talking about. Thank you.
OMG this same thing happened to me at Argosy Tampa. I have $100, 000 in student loans and no degree because I was removed from Argosy within a semester from graduation. If you find a lawyer to assist you in a lawsuit, please let me know. vcalfina@juno.com
I share the same experienced with you regarding the maltreatment both at the practicum site and the school. I was given a practicum site that was not on my list and I was told that if I didn't go to the site it would be bad for me. I expressed my concern about going to the site and my concern that I was being told to go to a practicum that I did not put on my list. I went through the same process and was dismissed. At my practicum site I was being supervised by a postdoc from Argosy who intimidated me and verbally abused me then lied about what was really going on. Afterwards the director without hearing me out listened to the postdoc and stated that there is something wrong with my head. I have no clue what the postdoc had said and I was not given an explanation of what was going on even when I asked to be filled in. All I could do was be in shocked and cried to my disbelief that this was happening. I felt defenseless. I reported this to the practicum director, practicum seminal leader and my advisor. My practicum seminar leader supported me and was aware that I was not being treated appropriately, but she was only an adjunct with no voice. There were no response after I reported the incidence other than go through the spdc process. It became difficult for me from then on. I became depressed that I didn't get any support from the school. I was afraid to go to the site and I became very anxious until I was dismissed.
I just found out that the postdoc that supervised me was just hired to teach at the school. Her bad behavior is rewarded and with her abusive behavior now she gains more power and control; this seem to be a theme of how the school conducts its business. The professors play with your mind if they don't like you and make it seem like the students have the problem if you didn't play their game and stroke their ego. In this same situation, I also requested to be moved and received the same answer you did. The difference is that I have found other sites that I can do my practicum in that I know I can be successful at and I was denied. In the end, it became detrimental for me and a hardship on me and my family as I ended up with a big bill. If you showed any type of voice in the program the consequences are that your oppressed by the professors. BTW, the voice I mentioned is basically informing my advisor, seminal leader and practicum director of the situation. Apparently, this is not allowed otherwise it results in being dismissed. I have students in my cohort who at the same practicum site experienced the same thing and witnessed the abuse I received, but they were to afraid to say anything, they remained quiet because they are intimidated and afraid to speak up because they don't want to end up being dismissed like myself. Other students have also discussed during our seminar classes that there supervisors were sexually harassing them, etc. Nothing is done except the student was told that in order for her to be a good therapist, she needs to be able to suck it up and tolerate it. This student was miserable the whole time and cried often, but at least she didn't get dismissed. Twp other student from same site were made to feel like idiots and were threatened and cursed at their prac site and was afraid to go to the site. The advisors and prac director were informed and nothing was done about it. All these incidences and issues were all happening and nothing was done about it. The school is so afraid to loose training sites that they are telling their students that its not a big deal and to suck it up. Unfortunately, some students ends up getting hurt in the process, but then who really cares, right?
Don't be so quick to judge to think that there is another reason why a student is dismissed other than what really is happening. Sometimes there doesn't have to be a hidden reason why a student is dismissed or that the students are to blame or screwed up somehow other than a professor or the school showing that they can do that and can have the power to screw someone over if they want to-it can be as simply as that. Some get lucky and know how to suck up and others are not able to or willing to go that route to pass a class or get through a practicum. When a student is paying that much money, the school should provide the needed education paid for and not pay for the bureaucracy, To go that far into the program, are you saying that the student purposely did that?
Hello,
That is a horrible experience. I’m sorry you went through this. Which campus did you attend? Did you ever report the school for this?
I'm currently a master's student at Argosy, and have found it a tremendous experience. The classes are challenging and I've been pleased with the high performance standard required by each professor I've been fortunate to study under. I'll be receiving this degree in December but am considering continuing toward a PhD at their APA-approved Orange County campus. I have never seen Argosy make any promises to provide students with internships, so--while I'm pleased to hear that they apparently did provide this student with a lead, I can't help but wonder why this complainant did not find another internship on his or her own when the offered situation was found to be unsatisfactory?
Also, considering the spelling in the complaint, I can't help but wonder whether there might have been other reasons the complainant did not receive the degree.
poor education/ training in dental hygiene program
I graduated from Argosy University- Twin Cities' Dental Hygiene program in 2006 and I still feel compelled to warn potential applicants about how poorly run the program is. I am seeing many other complaints that Argosy University is nothing more than a "for-profit" diploma mill, and I'm afraid I have to agree with that. My program cost right around $60, 000 for 5 semesters of subpar education. I also have a bachelor's degree from a traditional 4 year university and I was shocked by the difference in the quality of education I received at Argosy vs. the 4 year university. My classmates and I felt that the instructors at the school did not care about us as individuals nor did they care about our unique learning needs. But perhaps most concerning of all was the very low rate of success in passing our board exams after the Argosy eduction. More than 1/3 of my class was not able to pass the $1000.00 clinical board exam on the first try (100% of the students from the University of MN's RDH program passed the first time). Had our education been adequate, there shouldn't have been any reason for students to not pass this exam. Upon hearing this news, the Argosy instructors were far from compassionate and only offered to help students improve their skills for a hefty fee of $1300.00. The students elected to avoid any further contact with Argosy and actually sought out remedial help from an entirely different dental hygiene program who was more than happy to help them for a much smaller fee. Now that I am an employed RDH, I do see that Argosy has a poor reputation in the community. Additionally, I don't feel I was adequately prepared for my job and had to do a lot "on the spot" learning once I started my work. To this day, I don't feel my skills are as sharp as my colleagues who had training elsewhere. I tend to be a "glass half full" individual, but feel the need to help others in this case. I do not recommend Argosy University to anyone. STUDENT/BUYER BEWARE!

I was "accepted" into their Hygiene program this fall. I uprooted my children and sold pretty much everything we owned to come up here to do this deal- moved from AR. Upon arrival, I learned that the program was actually an entire year longer than I was told while applying. I have been questioning whether or not to drop my upcoming semester courses due to the financial burden. After reading this post, I am pulling the pin. Thanks for the confirmation.
Thank you for posting your comments about Argosy. I am now looking at the Hygiene program offered at Argosy and had thoughts about it being a bit sketchy and not structured. One thing is true... it is very expensive! I have heard that students from Argosy and Herzing are not prepared for hygiene after attending these schools in comparison with other schools.
What was you under graduated major? Was it science related? Did you find the classes difficult or simply lacking in material?
bad education
The Argosy University title of "higher education" is perhaps the biggest oxymoron of all! This crap school is over-priced, employs professors who lack talent and the ability to convey ANY teaching method, in addition, the school is NOT APA accredited despite their past claims to become accredited. This too is all part of the scam to keep you enrolled in their useless diploma mill certificate programs which, by having the Argosy name, will limit your job/career path within larger state or federal institutions. Go to any search engine and type in the "Argosy" name and the word "complaint" or lawsuit(s). This school is the biggest waste of time and money!

Argosy university set students up for failure. Argsoy has waited until 1 day before my completion date to let me knowthat Im missing .32 credits. I have walked across the stage and even started filing out application stating I will receive my degree in a few weeks. Argosy sucks and something need to be done about this crappy school
Please excuse my writing,
I agree with you whole heartily...even though is a very good college if one wants to learn and attained they've learn. Anyways, I was enrolled 2/half years almost half completion receiving BS Degree when professor informed I have plagiarized a course which gave me failed grade--which I explained mean...It just want to get my point factual evidence along properly cited my research materials with references. Argosy professor does not care a student well being. I had incident letter on my school which I withdrawal from the business program. Argosy does offers nor encourages completing studies successfully, instead it leave one astronautically critically in debt.
I just left the Art Institute of Pittsburgh online, talked and filled out many applications for online universities and colleges that offered degrees in the field I am exploring. Argosy University was one of the many. Well, one evening two weeks ago Argosy called and stated they needed to give me a tour, but to my surprise I was supposed to enter class that day. In an effort to get them off the phone I told them I had to discuss this with my fiance. They telephoned me early the next day and I told them "NO, I never said I was going to attend here" and I hang up the phone. They called right back and my fiance hung up the phone. When they called for the third time I let it go to voice*mail and was appalled at what I was hearing. They stated "We have your personal information on file and you need to call us to let us know what to do with the data." To me that sounds like a threat, so I filed a complaint online at the Consumer Affairs website where many were also discussing their experience with Argosy. Argosy is (in my opinion) a bully toward potential students that they desire, and they are affiliated with the Art Institute which I left so why would I even consider them as an option. I must have been out of my mind during my conversations with that university. I just hope that it doesn't happen to another unsuspecting victim because I pray they perform more extensive research than I did.
This business is fraudulent! I attended for several years in pursuit of my PsyD, only to leave the program with an MA and over $150, 00 in debt. I enrolled in the PsyD program a year after completing my BS in psychology. After completing 4 years at Argosy, I was placed on academic withdrawal because I earned a C 3 times in the same scientific inquiry class. After being readmitted, I was told that I had to re-take 2 years worth of classes that had "timed out." I re-enrolled, took the necessary classes, passed my comprehensive exam, and spent 2 years applying for internships. I had approximately 13 interviews in 2 years (a very lengthy competitive process) and was not placed at a site. I was also placed on administrative withdrawal twice because of my inability to afford to pay tuition out of pocket. I have called and emailed asking for assistance with financial aid to get me through the last phase of my academic career, however, I've been told to check out additional loans. As I previously informed Argosy staff, I do not qualify for loans, thus, they have been sending me in circles in my search for financial assistance in the form of scholarships and grants. Now I'm completely broke and was recently told via email that I cannot re-enroll for "reasons I am aware of." My GPA was high, I had glowing letters of recommendation, and was well-received by peers and many professors. I put a lot of time, money, and energy into my education. I feel betrayed and disgusted when I think of the multiple responsibilities and roles I have juggled and the sacrifices made in order to enroll, maintain a 3.6 GPA, and graduate.
Needless to say, my interest and passion for the field has been tested and I now wish I had taken a different path after graduating from high school.
Thank goodness people are posting so others do not waste their time and money at Argosy. Tampa Campus Clinical psy program is a joke. I was dismissed because I had a death in the family!
I agree! I hate Argosy University with a vengeance. I too am looking into a lawsuit! I was recruited vicously by there recrutiors who were given commisions for recruiting me, I was told the program would cost me 23, 000 dollars yet I have paid over 54, 000 dollars for a 32 hour masters. Additionally I was givin the grade of an F on my transcripts, when the teacher gave me a B, and I had a B at the end of the class. Argosy acknowledged that they had made a mistake, but has yet to correct the grade. It has been six months. I cannot use my transcripts, they are worthless with the F on it, and I have not been able to find gainful employment utilizing my degree due to this mishap. Argosy University is still billing me for classes, even though I am no longer a student there! Unbelievable! Misty
Oh my Argosy University Tampa. Unbelivalbe! I have completed my academic program and was informed I did not pass my Comp. I was sent a certified letter with a list of concerns. ( trumped up)
1. Did not response to emails timely
2. Professional conduct problems
3. Did not follow instruction.
All of this occurred within in 4 months after I finished my last class and prior to field work. I never received not 1 complaint from any professor during my 2 years in the MFT program. However, all of a sudden, I became unprofessional by the chair person and this assessments prevented me from graduating. However, to avoid further difficulty, I withdrew before the scheduled meetings to prevent a dismissal from appearing on my transcript. If anyone files another class action lawsuit please contact me.
The Argosy plan is to get your money and prevent you from graduating by trumping up all kinds of complaints. Even Steve Wonder and Ray Charles can see through this! For those who are victims- remember vengeance is God and he will repay. It’s just a matter of time! Patience!

Although we remain convinced that our daughter was not treated fairly by Argosy University Tampa, after considerable time, expense, and effort, we have been unable to document or uncover any pattern of abuse of students or other wrongful conduct on the part of the Tampa campus or the University as a whole. Although our daughter's experience was not a positive one, it appears that her experience was not typical, and we apologize if we dissuaded any potential students from considering Argosy based on our postings to this site.
It depends on what Argosy you are speaking of.. Argosy University - Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa, D.C., Orange County, Twin Cities, San Francisco Bay, Schaumburg are ALL APA accredited.. APA.org would not be lying about that.. so before you bash every argosy you better get your facts straight.
I'm not a student there and might never be we'll see... but what I will say is that the campuses I mention have high internship placement, are apa accredited (some for 7 years which is super long), and are still better priced than some other Psy.D. programs in the country. So get your facts straight. I'm sick of reading about how Argosy is bad, when in reality it's not!

TEXAS COLLEGE SUED BY STUDENTS FOR MISREPRESENTING THAT IT WOULD BECOME ACCREDITED
Texas College Sued by Students for Misrepresenting that it would become Accredited
Dallas, TX - August 7, 2009 - Several students have sued Argosy University, which is an education system of Education Management Corporation (Nasdaq: EDMC) in Dallas County District Court, alleging that the college lied to them in order to get them to enroll in the college. Argosy University is a for-profit college. Plaintiffs were students enrolled in the school's psychology doctoral program at Argosy's Dallas campus. At the time Plaintiffs were considering enrolling in the program, school officials told them that the program was in the process of obtaining crucial accreditation by the American Psychological Association and that the program would become accredited before the students graduated. As a result of these reassurances plaintiffs enrolled in the program at significant personal expense.
The lawsuit alleges that during the students' enrollment in the program the school indicated on numerous occasions that the school was actively pursuing APA accreditation. In reality, the school had not begun to secure accreditation, and the students ultimately graduated from the program without the program ever obtaining APA accreditation. Julie Johnson, plaintiffs' attorney, explains, what sets this case apart are the blatant and repeated lies told by school officials: "When students expressed skepticism about the school's progress toward APA accreditation, the school dismissed these concerns as baseless 'rumors' and perpetuated the sham that it was in the process of pursuing APA accreditation."
The school's repeated lies, claim the plaintiffs, have significantly hindered their ability to repay the exorbitant student loan debt they assumed in order to attend the college. Johnson explains, "even though the state of Texas does not require a degree from an APA-accredited college for individuals to practice as clinical psychologists, the reality is that in this competitive job market, most employers require APA accreditation. Those that are willing to employ clinical psychologists that have graduated from non-APA accredited institutions pay them significantly less than they would pay a clinical psychologist that did graduate from an APA-accredited institution." This, plaintiffs claim, has left them saddled with unserviceable student loan debt and dashed dreams.

Just look at page 3 of 68, section 10, and see the $375, 000, 000.00 (yes, that's 375 MILLION dollars) in interest rate swaps. Don't forget to see Goldman Sachs mentioned, page 2 of 68, section 5, (they received TARP funds from the government, right!?)

How can I be part of this law suit. I'm in Ca. but have the same complaints about this univesity, and though my requests not to put me on any type of loans, they did, and know I owe money for student loans I was told they were grants.
Who can help me sue them too?

Unfortunately, I am crying speared milk again, but someone needs to speak for me. Argosy has broken its promise, but it has offered nothing more than a great deal less...that it's more geared to your education level. I guess many of those attending had autism spectrum disorders, Asperger's or schioaffective disorder--I'm just speculating. Although Argosy U had good representation of quality educations, it's staff, professors and employee showed a different outcome of what the school stands for today...high way robbery.
A company going by the name of "Gigats" had placed an ad seeking employees for a warehouse position on Simply Hired. As their ad made me believe that THEY were the company that was hiring I applied. After ignoring 3 emails telling me to call they called me today. I was told they were a hiring company who does the seeking for you while being careful to select only jobs that will work for you. They then transferred me to a company that wanted to talk with me about completing my degree, which I stated I needed to do but was not financially able to. After nearly an hour of talking to me; without getting only my phone number, address and email address which are on my resume, they attempted to transfer me to yet another school called "Westwood University" which I then declined to continue the call. At that time, they agreed to call me back tomorrow. After I got off the phone, with my head spinning from the information overload, I began searching for more information on all the "company" and"schools" I found in one search on Bing a large number of negative feedback and only the "company, " "schools" and their representatives giving "positive" feedback. At 31 I learned a lesson, no matter how much of a hurry you're in, ALWAYS do your research BEFORE you share your information with a company or school!
Ok so I started argosy in feb. This school lied to me, and was basically trying to get money. They lied to me. I started the clinical and forensic psychology program. Comes to find out after they got my loan, and then told me that nothing is credited, so here i am with a 5, 000 loan that i have to pay for a course that i did not need. the classes that put me in after i started were already on my transcript that they have of mine! Then i check my fasa yesterday and they have charged me for three semesters, i was no longer attending argosy for the two semesters that they got money for. And i am trying to appeal paying back this loan that they had me take out, because they lied, this is fraud! and not fair to me and or future students! the more research i have done the more stuff i am finding out about fraud and lies with this school! so i checked my fasa and my loan was a total of 15, 000 something, then i emailed the college and told them to call me asap, i have left messages, i left emails.they refuse to respond. So i called the company that i borrowed from, they then told me that the school must be on to me, knowing that i have contacted authorities and other people, and now my loan has dropped to 4, 000 something.so DOES ANYONE KNOW A LAWYER TO CONTACT TO HELP ME DISPUTE THIS MONEY THEY ARE CLAIMING I OWE!
According to the APA's Web site, several Argosy clinical psych programs are APA accredited. http://www.apa.org/ed/accreditation/programs/clinical.aspx Why would it be unreasonable to assume that the Dallas campus would also be pursuing accreditation?
diploma mill
Argosy University is nothing more than a hard sell diploma mill designed to milk people of their money in exchange for a useless degree. Within a few minutes of filling out the forms for information I recieved a phone call from one of their sales reps. I told her I was just looking and she went into the hard sell. She continued to call me daily, giving me every pitch mostly focused on how easy it is to get a student loan. In fact they'll do all the work and get you approved right away. What they don't tell you is that you are dealing with a company that represents Argosy along with a ton of other diploma mills.
The minute they get your money they assign you an adviser. The adviser will be unreachable. You will leave voice mail after voice mail. It took exactly 7 days for her to return my calls. The "rep" I was dealing with said she would do anything to help me if there were any problems. I tried to call her, leaving voice mail after voice mail. I emailed her and never got a response.
The courses consist of nothing more than preloaded classes that have a built in system for cheating. All you need to do is tap into the pre written paper market. Sure every school has its problems, but the difference is that Argosy knows there's a flip side to their curriculum but they don't care as long as you keep getting the student loans. There is an unspoken system of cheating that is so obvious that its like the emperors new clothes, everyone knows it but nobody talks about it.
So my advice is if you want an expensive degree that no employer respects then go for it. If you want an education go to a real school.

How do I get my argosy loan debt wiped?
Please excuse writing,
I knew something was not right about the college. Everyone was very friendly--that the way all educational instructions are supposed (so I thought). I was enrolled 2016 to fall 2018, which I didn't finished my program decided to withdrawal because 2 reason: the unfairness of attaining that I have I felt enhanced learning Business Management and cost money always getting out students to continue my education. What is the point getting hired in a career you must or require to have college. That work for federal government for many years and was attending Argosy U after it was for sure that would the next or higher grade--but instead broken promise from, accuse of plagiarism that they really take offense to all no matter if you a severe learning disabilities or no disabilities. That withdrawal to school brainwash us when research or other materials that creditable facts explanations will not always to be sufficient that should give our on explanations in the Argosy readers' perspective. I wish had not close but I glad that it did...because heads and staff didn't honesty integrity providing with finance for school instead uses for Argosy big chief and school's staffs, As matter fact, Westwood College same etc...when shut entirely college systems down 2-3 prior shutting it's doo Mar 9 2019. Being a person severe learning disability I really worked hard and dedicated myself to not only learn and get grades of business management but also to maintain and be attainable toward my future career goals...
Argosy-Sarasota FA won't (ADD FUNDS FOR CLASSES- AWARD) allow me to increase classes for future terms! They LIE about taking up to 12 credits per term and are unprofessional! This decreases shareholder value, because the FA advisors are TOO LAZY TO UPDATE OR ADD ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL AID! ESPECIALLY MELISSA DAVIS!
Initially, this school lures students in by providing high stipends, but decrease stipends to block graduation! Initially, I was told by a finance counselor that there is no financial computation for computing student loan values like tuition or total GradPlus loans, but after one officer messed up my FA, she put me on her bad side. They PUNISH students with small stipends like $1000 ( I can't pay rent w/this small stipend!) for 4 months refund stipend based on their mistakes for overawarding!
I graduated from Argosy University Online December 2014. I have had no problems with my degree and even made it into one of the top Master's programs with my Argosy University degree. I am pursuing a Master's in Education in Counseling and Human Development and I have had no problems with the material at this school. One of my teachers even graduated from here with their doctorates degree and another one is working on hers at the moment. This school is what you make of it. If you want to learn you will; if you cheat you will not learn. It is as easy as that. Yes, it is expensive. It is a private owned college.
I have attended two Argosy campuses (switched locations due to job changes), and I am about to graduate with my Ed.D. I have truly enjoyed my experience at AU. The courses are rigorous, the discussions are insightful, and the professors are very knowledgeable. I have had two great advisors, both of which worked hard in getting my transfer completed in a timely fashion, without me losing credits. The education I have received at AU is just as valuable as any that I would have obtained at a traditional university. Some complaints people are making are due to their own mistakes and misunderstandings. I do know that AU informs students about accreditation status and makes students sign that they understand what the status means for students (and this was a few years before 2009). As with any college/university, each will have its negatives and positives. Furthermore, each campus, department, and class has its own characteristics. I've worked hard for my degree, and will proudly say I earned it at AU.
Are there any would be students interested in testifying before the California Legislature on this issue? We are doing an oversight hearing on degrees and diploma mills. We would love to hear your story. Please contact me at jennifer.galehouse@asm.ca.gov.
OMG..I'm crying right now, I really need help, I woe 64, 000 in federal loans for what? I used to sign up for classes ONLINE ONLY but they would reg for blended classes then at the end of semester/term l fail wonder why?
I need a partner to sue this university and protect those who plan to attend
I have to address the above comment supporting the formerly GSPP/Argosy outfit in Atlanta. Yes, the academics were rigorous, but not because of the course content, but rather because the "professors" seemed to do pretty much everything they could to harass and put unnecessary roadblocks in front of students who took their courses in good faith. I found that this was particularly true for the full time tenured profs, who made it a point to be as standoffish and unavailable as possible. The material content of the course was manageable for most of the students who went through with me...if you were awake during class, studied and did your work as it was assigned, you could make at least passable grades. However, there were a few professors there who would "lose" papers and take home tests that students had handed in, and then give F's to the students for failure to submit the required work. This happened to me on about four occasions. Another related issue is the abject hatred many of the professors manifest for their students. I personally witnessed a former program director at GSPP / Argosy threaten to "kick anyone out of the program" who stepped out of the line during an admissions / matriculation function. She didn't just say it, she SHRIEKED it. Yet another problem was a licensed psychologist who was an instructor who got into a intimate/sexual relationship with a student and, when the admin found out about it, essentially nothing happened other than the suspect instructor resigned and (at last check) went back full time into private practice. Mind you, the people that swept this incident under the rug were "professionals" who constantly scrutinized their students for any perceived ethical, moral or personal fault. This was really the way it was when I was there...you had a cadre of little napoleons strutting around and working overtime to just be downright mean and unsupportive, sneering down at the students whom they were supposed to be mentoring and guiding to be professionals. They spent an inordinate amount of time yapping about what they perceived as our personal shortcomings and NO TIME AT ALL talking about anything of actual material benefit in the world of professional psychology. Not once was the topic of managed care negotiation mentioned, billing and coding issues were never discussed, and not one of my professors ever mentioned HIPAA (which became a huge issue for psychologists right after I graduated). I made it through, but with little if any encouragement/support from the people who were employed there. The crappiness persists. Even now, school alumni aren't afforded the ability to use the school library. Why would this be, other than the fact that Argosy/GSPP does not hold students, even alums, in any esteem at all, even the ones who have gone on to be licensed psychologists who are respected in the clinical and research fields. Heed these words, and do your homework. It's a lot of money to be treated like garbage.
as far as the Psy.D (doctorate of clinical psychology) programs go, Argosy University is just a conglomorate of formerly independent professional psychology schools (schools whose professors also practice in the profession they teach-- all profs work as psychologists with real people as opposed to just doing research, which makes sense because the program is clinically focused). These schools -like the Illinois school of professional psychology and the Georgia school of professional psychology (where I go) were "bought" by argosy some time in the last 10-20 years. In effect, the schools operate just as they did except that the marketing and some administrative, non-academic matters are now handled by a bigger company, and your diploma says "argosy university, [location of the school]" rather than the school's old name . I agree that the initial "sell" was a little annoying but once you tell them what school you are interested in attending, u are then working with that school's admissions staff-- and the quality of that obviously differs from school to school. If you are serious about pursuing a doctorate in clinical psych, be sure the particular schools you apply to are APA accredited- this goes for Argosy schools and every other program out there. Regardless of the name on your diploma, the APA's certification process is extremely rigorous- they simply don't certify schools that don't meet pretty high standards, and re-assess every school every 2-7 years. The Dallas argosy school was not APA accredited- and they acted that way- everyone here in Atlanta was appalled and angry about every aspect of that case. But our school has been APA accredited for decades- years before it's name changed. I'm sure some argosy schools are indeed crapy diploma mills; but the APA accredited ones simply aren't- or they wouldn't be APA accredited (the APA has many flaws, but setting a high standard for quality is something they do very well). What I can tell you is that MY school, Argosy Atlanta (and I can only speak for the Psy.D program) is extremely rigorous, the professors are almost all terrific teachers and very supportive, and they are clearly committed to providing a quality education. As for cheating, the person who mentioned turnitin.com was right- you can't slip stuff by that system - log on and try it if you don't believe me; in one of my undergrad classes we had a fun little assignment that was to try and slip a plagerized paper through turnitin, and not one of us got ours
through. Cheating is absolutely rampant at many schools, and probably some argosy schools (there are like 50 of them if you count all the locations and programs) but the fact is that so much of a good Psy.D program is actual supervised clinical work anyways, and most of the papers are psychological reports that are specific to the patient you are working with ( in the early classes, we sometimes worked with information/test results from a "fake" client to spare real people from our rookie mistakes) so there is simply no way to cheat -- there are report writing programs out there, but the reports they give out are so obviously generic that they wouldn't get a passing grade from any of the profs I've had. Anyways, I guess I would ultimately say that I wouldn't ever go to any of argosy's undergrad programs, or any of their non-APA accredited doctorate programs. Also, the psych masters programs at Argosy Schools with APA accredited DOCTORATE programs are all likely to be of high quality because they are simply the first half of the doctorate program--the masters students take the same classes as us but in a somewhat different order, so there are masters students in all my classes (except for assessment classes, since the APA has ensured that masters students aren't allowed to administer or have access to most major psychological tests, one of the reasons why folks with a doctorate psych degree make more money than those with just a master's). The one real complaint I have about argosy that is based on my actual experience is that the health insurance they offer is attrocious- it's meant for undergrad students who have access to student health services, and argosy doesn't have that. This won't really be a huge issue at many argosy schools, as you can find better insurance outside the school. But If you are in a state where you can be denied insurance for pre-existing health conditions, like I am (GA) it is vert problematic, and the part of the HC reform act that makes exclusions illegal doesn't go into effect for a few more years. Well I've written a lot here and if you are still reading, I hope some of what I've written was helpful.
I did not get a hard sell, nor have I had any difficulty contacting my advisers at any time. I'm almost finished with my MA at Argosy, and I can tell you, the curriculum is challenging and has proven its effectiveness in my interviews with mental health professionals in the Los Angeles area. Argosy is not a diploma mill. It is accredited by the North Central Association, which also provides accreditation for the University of Minnesota, Colorado State University, Indiana State University and hundreds of other midwestern universities and colleges.
Plainly, some of you are unhappy with your experience, but I must provide another view since my experience has been enriching and mind-expanding.
One piece of advice to anyone considering classes at Argosy, however: do not attempt to cheat by tapping into the "pre-written paper market" as a previous comment suggested. Argosy's professors use Turnitin.com to check for cheating. In fact, at one point a classmate in one of my early classes attempted to plagiarize one of my papers and I was pleased at the response I received when I called my adviser to report the situation. The incident was satisfactorily and responsibly addressed by the professor and by my adviser, and the student was appropriately dealt with.
I suppose that most universities have their disgruntled detractors, but I'm not sure how much credibility to give to a complaint that asserts, "I'd like to rip his eyes out." This is hardly the kind of professional language likely to ensure admittance to any university.
professors
Argosy University is a for profit university that pretends to care about the students. The school is driven by profits and does not care the needs of the studetns. The University hires part time professors that are not familiar with the University and do not know its rules and regulations.
Since I have been at Argosy, I have had four academic adviors (in 15 months) and each one could not meet my needs or expectations. They have set up a system with only consequences for the students and none for the professors. Here is my example, Argosy had a technical problem on 05/11/2009 that shut down their system for two days. I was unable to log into my class and do any of my work. The University acknowledged their mistake and sent an e-mail to all students and staff that all deadlines were extended and no late penalities would in place.
This seemed like a very fair solution and one I could work with. The problem was tha the Professor did decided not to adhere to this policy and reduced my grade by 15%. This mistake hurt my grade and could have impacted my future admission to graduate school. I had to drop out of school with a financial penalty. When I mentioned to my academic advisor the reason I was dropping out she said "that is your problem (about the penalty) and you will have to take it up with financial aid. When I spoke with financial aid they told me it was not thier responsibility ( appeal the drop policy), it was the responisbility of the academic advisor.
The situation was never resolved and I am probably going to need to pay the pentaly and transfer to another University.

I agree Argosy University is a scam!
I agree Argosy University scams students. I have a learning disability and I requested assistance one time since I started a Master's programs in forensic psychology and they refused to assist me. My advisor informed me in my last semester of the program I have an option to take a comprehensive final exam or do an internship and when I started my last semester my advisor told me I cannot do an internship and I have to do a comprehensive exam. The comprehensive exam was confusing because they do not give you accurate information so you do not know what to expect. I ended up transferring to another program due to the lack of support from Argosy University. I also recieved an award letter from Argosy stating how much student loan money will be deposited into my school account but the most interesting thing is I did not apply for another student loan because I did not need one. Argosy is a scam.

Those that are willing to employ clinical psychologists that have graduated from non-APA accredited institutions pay them significantly less than they would pay a clinical psychologist that did graduate from an APA-accredited institution." This, plaintiffs claim, has left them saddled with unserviceable student loan debt and dashed dreams.

improper proceedings
For all I know, this could be an accredited college... but the fact that they lied to me about the need to sign a promissory note for them to give me information about my loan, as told to me by SallyMae, was just uncalled for. Also, it turned out I was due a letter explaining my loan in details before needing to sign the note.
Guys, don't let private schools manipulate you! A promissory loan with Stafford is the LAST step in enrollment. When you do it - make sure you know your college's withdrawal procedure, 'cause if you don't, they might refuse to cancel your loan 'just like that, ' at least - the part of it that was for the classes you were enrolled to take.

lied about program financing
I responded to a SPAM email advertisment regarding Argosy University and within 2 minutes I reciecd a phone call from their representative. He stated that there was a program 7 weeks long that I could apply for and also I could qualify for a student GRANT.
Then he proceeded to run me through several web sites filling out forms and sending him $50.00 dollars. I asked how much was the entire course and he refused to respond. The last web site I was told to go to was for filling out yet more forms for a promisary note!
I stopped at that point because he did not tell me nor advise me that I have to pay for anything more then the $50.00 dollars and also buy a textbook! He also wanted all of my phone numbers and insisted that I sign the forms he sent me and immediatly mail them directly to his personal fax number. I had not any time to think about the whole issue until I was off the computer and I went back on again and sent him a email stating that I was not comfortable with what he was trying to push me into and I was going to research his University background before going any further. I also asked what the whole amount that they were going to get a free grant for and he refused to give me a figure. Today, I recieved 6 phone calls form the same person and I refuse to return his calls since I cannot get a straight answer form him. He also sent me an e-mail stating: "I would be happy to talk to you and explain in more detail of how everything works. Grants will not cover your entire education no matter where you go. You may qualify for some assistance for being disabled. I am not sure. However I would be happy to go over the entire process. Remember this is just to get you the BIG picture and give you all the information that you need and then we will go from there. Nothing is set in stone. When would you like for me to call you?
I am sure that you will understand and see what I mean, and remember this is The American School of Professional Psychology. There is only one school like that and you will have a great education. You can even start out here and if you feel that you would like to transfer to a ground school you can do that. Our credits are Regionally Accredited. I look forward to speaking with you and keep up the excitement that you had yesterday. It is a great accomplishment to be accepted to this University.
I will be in touch with you soon."
Now that's a scam!

Argosy is a financial rip off. they sent me a stipend back in Sept 2010 then in Dec 2010 told me THEY made a mistake in the financial department and wants me to pay them back. I am seeking legal advice and if need be, I will take Argosy to court over the matter. I should not have to pay for their mistake, and this is a collage? NOT!
Do your research about the collage you intend to go to before you apply. Peggy
Argosy classes are more expensive than University of Phoenix that is first, second their course study is so antiquated that the video I was assigned to watch "I'm so excited about the future in Technology that will change by 2011" - when was the video taken 10 years ago, they were teaching us about floppy disks! I dumped the school and switched over to UOP, however, since I have switched I have received over 10 calls asking why I left, I explained to each call why, the study was antiquated and did not meet my needs for someone going to a BS in Information Technology. Then today I receive an Email asking why I left again, I responded, please see the previous 10 times you called and check your records, unless know one takes notes! Go research before you decide to go to any college, there are grants and loans most of which you will have to pay back, expect the grants, I know I'll be in debt for school for years to come - so what I want an education, and now I'm getting the best at University of Phoenix - on - line... YEAH!
I agree that Argosy is about making number and that’s it. I have been enrolled at Argosy for almost 2 years. I have some great professors, very well educated, and I have had some lousy professors. My complaints are with the Administration department. Seems recently I been reading some your complaints and started thinking that I should look into these. Wow I can't believe I let them walk all over me from my concentration -financial aid. I have 12-15 credit. I been in a situation in another college and when I started to investigate and let others no the college in Utah shut there doors and left me without my education documented etc. Argosy has received Pell grants awarded to me and I have no knowledge of these grants. 1500 dollars of stipend issued and have no idea where that $ is. For example I started to ask Questions and now you would have thought physically I insulted them and they are revenging. I am now being treated like crap. Receiving emails that are nothing but excuses. No one bother to call me and work this out. Ethically I know they are misusing Federal Funds and it bugs the hell out of me. An argosy response to my investigations was “PELL grants are free money from the government".
Wow No wonder our Federal funds are in trouble. I am sure I not the first to notice this. I understand I have to take accountability for noticing this but I honestly trusted the Admission department and that Argosy cared in your education. I now believe it’s the numbers that they care the most about. This weekend I knew what I had to do but when I went to print my history off someone has made so changes. Who ever it was he or she cleaned it up well but not good enough. Someone help me or advise me with what I need to do. I could involve the media but then it will affect students like me and risk the chance of not receiving a well deserved education or just leaving it alone. I am already stereotyped in the SALT LAKE Campus as a person who is "argument" but I know I am just a normal person who believes to stick up for myself and others. I been put on probation before and can't afford to be put on again unless it worth it. Anyone that feels that Argosy has or is taking advantage of them in anyway Let someone no. Speak Up! Own our Education and lets find a diplomatic way to resolve all of our issues in a respect ful way.
Stay away from Argosy Online..Online students get ripped off. After u complete three year..classes are designed for u to file..They want you to repeat classes. Do not get direct plus loan for their classes. They will take all your money, They are nice to get you in..After you have used up all your loans..They could care less.
Onlines students have no one to assist them in matters..I hade a 93 avergage in a class and failed..No one would assist me..Bottom line STAY AWAY FROM ARGOSY UNIVERSITY.
Run, , Too many extra bogus fees..Billing fraud
I know how you feel
I have been a student at Argosy for 18 month. I should have been graduated this summer. The fraud that Argosy that is related with me is: The undergraduate counselor designs a school schedule and lets you know what classes you need to take. I trusted that the counselor would put be in the classes are related to area of study.
At first before I began I let Argosy know I was only interested in a bachelor degree in clinical Psychology. Well I took 12 credits in Substance abuse. I thought these 4 classes would go towards my degree. It wasn’t not until April 2011 that I found out these substance abuse classes does not go towards my clinical psychology degree. Wow 12 credit hours that I paid for and now the time. money and stress that is not repalceable. I went though 12 credits of substance abuse thinking that all of these classes would count towards my degree and none of them counted.
These "optional" classes was not communicated to me what so ever.I put to much trust in the academic counselor and undergraduate director to assure my class schedule was geared too the bachelor degree in psycholgy. I am more than upset I am furious. Last time I complained they put me on probation and still to this day I don't know how someone could be put on probation because I voiced an opinion. I feel that an Argosy has created a bias and passed down to teachers. Since the time of probation the most of the professors ignore me and avoid any communication when I have a Question resulting in decling grades since the point of probation. The professor I just had was not educated to teach this class. He taught as if we all were expereinced in excel or statistical analysis.
Books that I have paid for the last 3 terms are not available to download. I have been tying to solve this problem for 24 weeks and Argosy is not helping. A response that academic conselor was " I don't know how I can help you other than next term the option would be to buy the text book". No customer service was just proven. $450 dollars spent on books and no one is suggesting a solution. Customer service at walmart is better4 than Argosy customer service.
Money fraud is another problem that Argosy is doing. I just recently found this out as well. I would love to join a group that may think of suing Argosy. Not for the money but for ethics to prove that what they are doing to students is wrong. I know many others that have this same opinion. SLC Argosy University pretends to care but they have proved they don't care about your education. I know we need to take are own accountability in our own education but how can we when Argosy is not taking their accountability
I think overall Argosy is not a bad school. I have two undergrad degrees (one was obtained through Argosy) and I will be completing my MBA program through them this summer. For the most part, I have not had many problems with the course facilitators. As with any school, I feel that there might be one or two bad eggs. My main complaint about that school is the academic department. I can honestly say that I lost count of how many advisers I had during my undergrad degree through them. As a graduate student with them, I have rotated some advisers as well but I can say not not often enough! lol The undergrad advisers know their information. The longest adviser for my MBA program I had was the worst one I ever had and I complained about him all the time. As I end my program, I now have an adviser who cares and wants me to succeed. It took her a couple of weeks but she managed to clean up the mess that was made of my file by my last adviser. Will I ever go back to this school after I am finished...no, I will not. But that is my preference.
I have been attending the college in Denver, CO since 2009 for my DBA and I am almost completed. The problem I am now experiencing is an instructor who feels she does not have to teach the class yet only facilitate. This is the first time I have EVER experienced a Doctorate level class with an instructor that is so ego driven. I am calling for help yet have gotten none. How is it that Argosy can allow such teaching to go on in this fashion? I honestly do not understand. My second question is how do students resolve the issue.. contact the university president?
I work for Argosy and I am a student. While I agree that the admissions practices can be ridiculous and annoying with the phone calls and emails, the education is worthwhile. The crime of Argosy is the way the admissions department is run. If the admissions team were given a total facelift, there would be no complaints about the school. It’s an interesting thing; I don’t like working for them, but I feel that the school itself is outstanding. Admission’s tries to turn students into numbers and I hate that! The academics team however, is brilliant, well educated, and honest!
As a student, I have worked with some of the most outstanding professors around! One of my instructors worked with MLK during the Civil Rights Movement, several were published authors, and another is a world renowned personality theorist! Like others have stated in this forum, you get out of this and any school, what you put in. Argosy doesn't hold your hand and promise you'll graduate...that's up to you. If you don't have the salt to really learn the material and all your after is a piece of paper, go to one of those stupid online sites and pay $500 for your degree that doesn't count for anything in the real world. If you don't like to work your [censor] off for your degree...Yeah...go someplace else like Everest, because you're going to learn here or you will be academically terminated so you don't continue to go further in debt when you don't have what it takes finish school. PS… I loved the person’s story about the Farmer…Right on and I feel the same way!
argosy? right now my daughter owes them about 40, 000 and some how they talked my wife into [censor] and she owes the 12ooo-----------mike
phone calls
An on-line inquiry was placed for program information for Argosy College, within minutes of transmitting the request a phone call was received from the University. Unable to pick up the call, 13 additional calls were logged as received from Argosy University during the day with the last call logged at 6:24pm. The following day, 2 more calls were logged from Argosy before 9:30 AM and an additional 2 calls were received even after it was requested to a so-called Supervisor that the calls stop.
I am not sure if the Sales Department is aware of caller ID, if I had been able to pick up one of the first 14 calls or if the sales person on the other end of the phone would have left a message regarding my online application I may have had some interest in the school but at this point, I am moving on to other options.
Having previously heard nothing whatsoever about Argosy, somehow though, the name sounded suspicious, and somehow it comes as no surprise based upon all these complaints! Western State University is part of Argosy, and is equally reprehensible with its atrocious employment rates. Imagine how embarrassing it is to say that you went to Western State, and how much worse it is with the Argosy association. It appears to go without saying that no one should waste so much money on these garbage for profit schools but thankfully sites like this make the decision even easier not to attend.
Indeed - Western State is a scam, Argosy is a scam, the state bar of California is a scam!
It's a business. Like many other schools, they don't really care about the student. They want their money and will do anything to get it. I've been harassed from them recently for $2, 000 that I shouldn't owe them and right now cannot afford.

I too requested information from Argosy online. Within 15 minutes my phone began to ring. I was home in bed recovering from the flu. After about the 9th call I answered and advised I did not feel like taking and I would be in touch if I wanted to proceed. I get a call the very next day from another person.
I am getting the feeling that this is a diploma mill. I was taken aback by these strong arm tactics.
After reading some of the postings I am a bit skeptical.

I had a 4.0 GPA going into my last year as a graduate student at Argosy University, at a California campus. With unsubstantiated causes Argosy staff and administration kept me from proceeding, keeping me from getting my degree, and leaving me with $30, 000 of student loan debt.
I have been made aware that this has happened to other Argosy students. If you feel that you have been treated unjustly by Argosy University, please contact me. jenine7@juno.com
It's always up to the receiving college to determine how many credits and what classes they are going to take when a student attempts to transfer credits. Anything you receive PRIOR to your matriculation, in the form of promises of credits transferring, are estimates. During your first class you should have gotten the results of transfer credits. If you have an unofficial pre-evaluation, I would have brought that to the registrar and asked for an explanation as to why all your classes didn't transfer.
Don't get me wrong: Argosy are the biggest ### in the for profit education world, but when it comes to transferring credits it's always up to the receiving institution. So, if you just started somewhere else, the rule still applies: make sure you get the results of your transfer credit evaluation ASAP.
I believe you would be better suited to contact The California Department of Education. http://www.cde.ca.gov/re/di/cd/
