Airtel / airtel promoting porn contents

1 India Review updated:

I have a prepaid connection which gets 3-4 Push Mails daily containing pornographic contents from Airtel. It contains messages like "Hot Bikini Babes, Free Girls, FTV girls, Hot girl pics etc." I have written them several times and contacted them to stop this menace but to no avail.

Their customer support say, this can not be stopped. I must disable push mail service from my handset. Is this a solution?

I am also getting voice calls promoting their ring tones and caller tunes. My phone number is registered under NDNC registry but it does not solve the purpose. They also keep on sending promotional SMS messages.

A few days back they activated "Airtel Picture Post Friendship". I never heard of it earlier. It was again a nuisance which contained several unwanted SMS messages.

I contacted the Nodal Officer of Airtel, customer support several times but I am still getting the promotional alerts. Be careful if you want to continue with this cheap kind of company with cheap promotional tactics and useless customer support.

    Dear Rakesh,

After posting your comment, you have not bothered to contact me back. Your useless SMS messages and voice calls are still coming. Are you serious about solving this issue or are you are here just for the sake of it. It seems Airtel has all bunch of jokers in their customer support.

I have only one request - JUST STOP PROMOTIONAL MESSAGES.

I hope this is loud and clear.

Even I am a victim of the same perverted messages.

And even I called their customer support @198, but their executives are incredibly dumb or really not concerned about customers.

They talk as if I asked them to send those messages and told me to wait for 45 days!!! (I registered to NDNC 3 days back).

As Airtel is the sender of all these messages, I don't understand why they can't stop it. I think the matter of fact is that they can, but just don't want to.

My biggest concern is, even school children have mobile phones nowadays...

And atleast for these kinds of promotions, Aren't they supposed to get permission from the users to send them?

Seriously, we should think of Suing them in court...

    God, so perverted network.

    Hi Chethan123,

I have contacted them several times by email and phone but the jokers of Airtel don't understand. They have canned responses. Even after registering NDNC these buggers keep on sending promotional SMS and voice calls. I have deactivated pushmail from my handset as I don't want to see nude pictures of Airtel customer support executives. I am sure they pose themselves nude to earn money. Come on...

Quite interesting. I have been getting harassed by Airtel also. Today is the 45th day since I registered NDNC.
Such porn messages should not be allowed even if you are not registered. The NDNC is related to only promotional messages and calls. However, these push messages are about promoting their GPRS services and porn. If you end up clicking on "connect" instead of "exit" you may get charged anywhere from Rs. 10 to Rs. 50. I just received another disgusting message from Airtel to "get ur favorite Bikini girl @50".

I called 198/121 several times and they keep saying you will not receive it anymore but I still do. I contacted Nodal Officer. Same reply. Now I'm in touch with apallete authority who said that they are busy and wait for at least 7 days. So in the mean time, I have to receive these stupid messages from them. Today is the deadline to stop their messages and tomorrow I have the right to go to the court.

It's quite easy for me to toss their sim and get another company's which is what I will have to do because they keep activating services and start charging a monthly fee and then say that I activated it from my phone, which is not true. Stay away from Airtel!

    Hi ConsumerIndia,

I received a reply on this forum 12 days back from Rakesh Ranga to submit complaint to . I have submitted a complaint there too but nothing has been done. The Airtel staff is now selling their own nude pictures to earn some extra money in Diwali. Someone from Airtel corporate office also called me, but they were only able to console me. Just stay away from these beggars and con people.

This Rakesh Ranga seems to have nothing else to do so he keeps going on all the consumer websites and copies the same test pretending himself to be airtel support man. Do not rely on such rascals. Go directly to consumer court and fill a complaint.
