ABCmouse.com / Age of Learning stole my money

My son really loved this site and so I signed up and paid some money. Then my son was bored and he did not want to continue using ABCmouse. But after that, few weeks passed and I noticed that they continued charging my card! I even called my bank and they confirmed that ABCmouse took my money. When I contacted the company and asked for a refund, they said that they never took my money and called me a liar. I told them that I have some proof, but they told that they don't care because they were innocent and never charged me. Liars! I even had to make a new credit card, because even after my messages the continued to steal my money!

They did the same to me! Two years of annual charges of 79.95 and they laughed at me when I said I never authorized the charges. This company thrives on stealing money from parents.

ABCmouse.com / Age of Learning taking money out of my account after subscription cancelled

I began my subscription to ABCmouse.com on 2/11/2014. The monthly subscription was taken out of until 5/11/2015. After this withdrawal I cancelled my subscription. There had been no activity by ABCmouse until 3/10/2016. Suddenly the monthly cost of $19.95 was taken from my account. 10 months after I cancelled! It is near impossible to get this resolved via phone. No one is willing to help or acknowledge why this has started up again. I want this subscription totally cancelled and I would love a refund of my $19.95.
I believe this is a scam. What a shame that they use a family's interest in helping their preschoolers as a way to rip people off. They need to be shamed

ABCmouse.com / Age of Learning this company took money for the subscription, when I haven't used their site

3 years ago I registered on the website www.abcmouse.com. I used it within 2 years and have paid for the subscription. However, I decided not to elongate the term and there was a problem with the entrance to my profile. But the company automatically continued subscription and they took money for it. I have already emailed them and asked to stop, but no response. I am not sure that it really helped.

ABCmouse.com / Age of Learning free trial

I set up a free trial in September, and canceled it 3 days in. A month later they charged me. The only way to contact them that I could find initially was an email that no one responded to. I finally found the number for the parent company they gave me a number [protected] option 4. When I finally got a hold of some one they said that the process I described didn't sound like the process to cancel. Fortunately I had recorded the process, and showed them. After that they admitted they saw I had tried to cancel, and said they would issue a refund. When I mentioned how much it appeared they were disliked based on the reviews the agent said "I know, but I don't make the decisions". But he would pass on the fact that the apple app doesn't actually cancel the account. Even though it leads you to believe it is canceled. Which could be why they have some many complaints and charge backs.

ABCmouse.com / Age of Learning cancellation

This company makes it so difficult to cancel. Don't sign up! I emailed many times with cancelation requests, however their cancelation directions didn't provided accurate steps. I ended up paying for several months worths of subscription that we didn't use only because I couldn't figure out how to cancel.

I completely agree! They make it very difficult to cancel your account and are very difficult to get in touch with them. This is their phone number that they removed from the website. [protected]. Once you listen to the VERY long instructions and then wait a long time to talk with someone they are not willing to make any refunds even though you did not agree to the subscription. I expected a lot more from a website that is supposed to cater to child development and supporting parents.

I agree! I had to cancel my membership by canceling the credit card. I later purchased a year for $45.00, but I was not allowed access after about 15 days. This company is a scam! Do not purchase!

The same thing just happened to me! I had subscribed for a 1 yr. membership for my great, great, granddaughter, and they automatically renewed it without even notifying me. She never used it even one-time so I didn't want to continue. When I went to their site to cancel it took me to page after page of advertising and I never was able to get to any place to cancel! So I sent a message to their customer service asking them to cancel it as I seemed not to be able to do so. My understanding of the message I got back was that my account would be cancelled and I would receive a verification of the cancellation, just to wait for it. I waited and no verification came but another payment was taken out of my account again so I went back to their site and finally figured out how to get to the cancellation page! It's set up to be very tricky! The pages that come up prior to the cancellation page (all telling of all the benefits of ABC mouse) are all set to come up larger that your screen will accommodate so you must scroll down on each page to find the "next" button. This continues for page after page, very deliberately making it a lengthy process, hoping you will give up as I had to because of time constraints and never get to the completion of cancellation. I hope they get slapped with many suits until they change there "tricky" business practices. Cancellation should be a very straightforward process not a lengthy process like this! Furthermore I would like very much to see the process of "Automatic Renewal" outlawed as too many business are using it to an unfair advantage! They should at least advise you that your subscription is ending and ask if you wish to renew!

ABCmouse.com / Age of Learning they stole money, but I haven't knew about it

I subscribed for the website www.abcmouse.com in order to get some points, but no one warned me that I would need to pay for it. They started to take money from my account. I noticed it only after 3 weeks, when they stole rather large sum from me. I tried to cancel it, but these scammers of course tried to avoid me. I just want to stop this crap and return all my money back. I need help and will be really great if someone punishes these dishonest people.

ABCmouse.com / Age of Learning illegally taking money from my account after membership cancellation

I cancelled my membership in December 2014. I was charged again that month. I then called the number provided on the website to confirm my cancellation. I received a notice today, May 26th 2015, that I was again charged. After reviewing my bank statements, I discovered that I have been charged every month since December. I called and spoke with a very disrespectful lady, who was refusing to assist me. I requested to speak to a supervisor. Once I was transferred, I spoke with "Tony". He viewed the account and repeated to me, " I don't see any activity in December through now, but can not return your money." After arguing with him about the ordeal and telling him that it is illegal to take money from someone's account without consent, he continued to tell me that he will not assist me, but for one time only, will refund two payments of $7.33. I asked multiple times for HIS supervisors name and contact people, but he denied my request. I then asked for his full name and contact number. Once AGAIN, "Tony" denied my request. He pretty much told me tough luck, they're keeping six months of payment even AFTER I cancelled my membership. ABCMOUSE. COM is a SCAM! They illegally STEAL money from people! NON PROFESSIONAL! Not to mention, REFUSING to give me the information I needed to prove myself! Seriously going viral over this! ABCMOUSE IS ASCAM AND THIEVES!

ABCmouse.com / Age of Learning cancellation

I signed up for the free 30 day trial period offered by ABCMouse. I signed up on March 29, 2015. I could not cancel before the first ten days. That time has passed and I want to cancel the 'free trial'! I downloaded it from the ITunes App Store and there is NO place to cancel! It is very frustrating when you follow their policy and they, ABCMouse, does NOT give you, the free trial user, a clear cut option to cancel! Can you help?

ABCmouse.com / Age of Learning unethical business practices

ABC Mouse says that there is a 30-day trial and that a full refund will be forthcoming if not satisfied - I paid for a one-year subscription. After only two (2) weeks I notified them that I want to cancel - it was not appropriate content for my 2-year-old grand daughter. Good luck - no response from them, multiple emails with no response, no phone number to contact them, no customer phone number, and my only recourse was to challenge the credit card payment and do a BBB complaint. ABC Mouse is unethical. Warning . . . do not use this company!

Update by Grant Austin
Dec 02, 2013 3:40 pm EST

ABC Mouse finally agreed to refund 100% of the amount paid . . . however, only because:
(a) I had kept a "screen shot" of every email to them and every cancellation request, and
(b) the proof was sufficiently voluminous that I had the backing of my credit card company that believed in the facts, and
(c) I filed a complaint with the BBB (although ABC Mouse is not a BBB member). This had the impact of raising the profile and perception about the validity of my complaint.
Beware of your dealings with ABC Mouse.

ABC MOUSE is a company owned by a Scientology whale. He has donated at least 20 million dollars to Scientology. By funding him you are inadvertently funding this disgusting cult that routinely abuse children and deprive them of a proper education. Avoid this company.

This company is HORRIBLE. Getting rid of the monthly payments is like trying to get rid of super-resistant head lice. I think it's time to get legislators involved in establishing consumer protections around companies like this -- relative to automatically renewing subscriptions.

I really can't understand how a company can be allowed to operate so fraudulently. After a year trying to cancel, I finally called American Express and reported it as fraudulent charge and explained to them and they "blocked" them from charging on my card again. I'm sure this is not the first they have heard of this practice by ABC Mouse. I hope there is a class action against them for these egregious business practices. Also, if you are on twitter you can tweet complains to them at @ABCmouse. Would be good to get something going on Social media to pressure them to stop perpetuating this. I think I had about 2 years of $7.95 charges that we didn't want.

I cancelled my subscription and 3 months later my card is still being charged. I sat on hold for over a hour and still haven't talked to anyone. They say you get a confirmation email but I didn't receive one in October. I recancelled and still never got this email they "supposedly "send out. I just want my money back. I will write a million complaints until I get my $23.85 back.! Maybe if you quit taking people's money you could fix your system.

I got ABC back in 2014. The same day I signed up, I cancelled and I received email saying my subscription was cancelled. I was never charged and thought nothing of it. Well, I just notice last month that I had a charge from ABC mouse that dates back to 32/16. After reading all of your comments, I am going to meet with a attorney that handles class action lawsuits, monday. I tried calling ABC but was left on hold for about an hour. I will try their main number during business hours/days to see if I can get an answer. If the lawfirm accepts the class action, I will post back on this site and others to notify all those involved. Or maybe we all will start seeing the commericals on TV about this lawsuit. ABC is totally unethical but I guess this is a scam that businesses will use to get over on people.

I too have been frustrated by the lack of customer support and the extreme difficulty in cancelling! The ABCMOUSE phone number [protected] x 4 above is the only place I've ever seen one and they were able to help me. Call them for an attempt at resolving. They definitely have predatory business practices and should be ashamed of themselves for their scamming!

ABCmouse.com / Age of Learning cancelling membership

I had taken out the one month $.01 trial subscription for my granddaughter. Before the end of the trial period I had cancelled the subscription. When I noticed a charge on my paypal account that I couldn't identify it was them. They had charged membership charges for March, April, and May. I know that I hadn't been as vigilant as I should have been but when I called this morning they said that the account hadn't been accessed since the trial period ending. They also said that it showed that the account had had an attempt to cancel but didn't go though the system for some reason. Well first they weren't going to give me any refund, then they said they could give me a refund for April and May. Mainly paypal only gives you 45 days to contess the charges so they will only refund the two months. Make sure when you cancel you are really cancelled. Needless to say that I will be watching for my refund.
Hope the extra money they took gives them nothing but bad luck. The site itself was pretty marginal, that is the reason I cancelled it.

ABCmouse.com / Age of Learning charging tactic

Company will not give any notification of upcoming charges. They will Not give any refunds back to consumers even a day after charges were made. When signing up I was never told that they would automatically charge me every year, I hardly used site on initial subscription, was shocked to see charges on my bank account when I thought my subscription was over.

BUYER BEWARE

If you purchase an annual subscription it will be set to automatically renew. ABCMouse.com does not send you a notification ahead of time to let you know that your subscription is about to be renewed. I have a lot on my mind and a lot of things happen over the course of a year, so having the date I began my subscription at the top of my list is a ridiculous notion. Also, ABCMouse.com refuses to give any sort of refund even if you cancel the very next day after your subscription is renewed. So, now I am paying for a full year of something my daughter no longer uses. This company could at least have the common courtesy of notifying its customers BEFORE the subscription is renewed instead of letting the customer find out when it appears on their credit card bill.

This company has fraudulently charged my credit card twice for $59.95 without any order or notice. They had my credit card info from when my 7 yr old was a toddler and we signed up.
