Hi,
Yesterday 28/8/19 at around 4.15 I parke well away from a truck that was in a loading zone at the back of Coles Kaleen and proceeded to the post office to pick up my mail.
I was actually pointing the wrong way in said loading zone, however I am entitled to park in these zones as I was in my business vehicle and was checking business mail box. (sorry to go on about that but it will become clearer as I progress)
When I returned to my car I proceeded with due caution to make sure there were no vehicles coming in either direction. Your forklift driver was in your laoding dock moving goods.
As I took off I heard a loud crunch and then I saw the truck driver (who was in the back of the semi) waving his arms frantically. I reversed back into the loading zone and got out of the car only to see that there was 3 pallets on top of each other on the road (not in loading zone, but roadway) in my blind spot. The fork lift driver apologised and then moved the pallets.
As there was no damage to my vehicle I went on my way. Probably a bit shocked but undamaged .
Today I returned to the Kaleen store and just thought I would mention this to the lady who is normally serving at the registers at the cigerette counter (I assume the manager) only to be met with ridicule and hostility. She said "not that I want to be demeaning, but..." and proceeded to insist that this was all my fault and that I shouldn't have been parking in the loading zone and that the fork lift driver had no option but to put the pallets there as I was in said zone. No mention that there is substantial space behind this store for the pallets to have been placed.
The attitude was quite astounding as I was only trying to avert a possible accident from happening that may in fact cause quite substantial damage and possible legal action. Surely that would be the desired outcome for such a large company as yourselves.
I am not one to normally complain but I have taken offence with this womans response.
