I am appalled by the shockingly poor quality of two different pairs of shoes I recently purchased. With the ‘Basket Weave Mid Heel Court Shoes,’ the soles started peeling away after just the second wear, to a regular day at the office. Fortunately, I had a spare pair of shoes with me that day, but it was still unacceptable. I initially assumed a shoe repairer might be able to glue them back together, though I shouldn’t have to consider repairs after wearing them only once or twice.
What’s worse, the ‘Red Horse-Bit Loafers’ I purchased a couple of months back but only wore for the first time two weeks ago, completely failed on their very first outing.
As I walked through an airport terminal, the entire sole of one shoe fell off. I had to continue to the aircraft with only the upper part of the shoe intact - an incredibly embarrassing and frustrating experience until I received my baggage once the aircraft had landed and I could change shoes.
As a long-term customer who has relied on Clarks for the past twenty years this level of product failure especially on such minimal use is completely unacceptable. It reflects a serious lack of quality control and durability.
I will certainly be reconsidering any purchases in the future.
Recommendation: Don't bother, clearly Clark's product standards have disappeared along with their interest in addressing any complaints customers make around this clearly ongoing issue.
That’s a brutal fall from grace — shoes disintegrating under normal use is clown-show quality, especially from a brand with Clarks’ legacy. You don’t owe them brand loyalty when they clearly don’t return it with craftsmanship. Walk away (in better shoes) — they’ve traded heritage for cheap mass production.
