To Whom It May Concern:
I would like to report an incident that occurred during my shopping experience on Friday, July 11, 2025 at approximately 8:35pm at the Children’s Place Store #4319 at Palm Beach Outlets.
My family was in town visiting and wanted to shop for the littles ones that were not able to make the trip. My mother bought a few items and my nieces were helping me pick a few items to send back for their younger sisters. I went to paid for (3) t-shirts and noticed two of the shirts rang up at a higher price. She went to look at the price sign and changed pricing. After I completed my purchase I asked the cashier (Vanessa) about the pricing for the tshirts as I noticed I was still charged incorrectly. She looked frustrated and with a rude facial expression pointed at the receipt and said the price was change. I told her the price should’ve been $9 plus tax and it looked like only one tshirt pricing was corrected. I had given my nieces the bag and they were standing with my mom who had already completed her purchase by the door. She asked for the girls to bring back the bag and rung all the items again which then added to the $9 plus tax. While I told her that there was a discrepancy and I was overcharged she didn’t apologize.
We left the store and a few minutes later leaving a different store we were stopped by security who approached my nieces (ages 13 & 14) to say Children’s Place called to report they stole items while we were in the store. Security (Director) Joseph Haynes said the manager of CP saw it on their cameras and called the police who were coming to arrest my nieces.
The girls were nervous as they told the security guard they did not take anything. Out in public I took all the bags of the clothing we gifted our nieces and showed security there was nothing from the Children’s Place store besides the items my mom and I purchased with receipt proof.
The security guard -Haynes asked us to walk back to the Children's Place store with him to talk to the manger on duty (Destiny) who was in the back of the store. The security guard-Haynes went to the bag to let the manager know there was nothing in the bags and we were waiting in the store where ‘Destiny’ claimed that the camera was flickering and could not confirm anything. The security guard-Haynes came back to tell us about the ‘flickering camera’ where the police had showed up and they said we can go home.
Your manager -Destiny and cashier-Vanessa did not apologize at any time. We were embarrassed in public and falsely accused! I have shopped at the Children’s Place for over 27+ years and have never been so humiliated and treated the way I did at this location.
I asked for the store manager’s name as well ‘Anthony’ and do not know if this was reported to him but I have not received a call from anyone at the Children’s Place Store #4319 Not sure if these names are accurate but this is what I was giving.
