We been paying our card for years and never sent a late payment. Recently we started remodeling our home and for some reason last month we had a few bills that we never received. One of them was our Chase/ Circuit City Statement. Today, I received a statement and to my surprise, I had a friendly reminder with a $39 late fee. My husband decided to give them call, since we are always buying from Circuit City and always maintain a balance, but never sent a late payment before.
He could not believe how rude and disrespectuful their customer service was. He was told they couldn't wave the fee. They simply did not care... My husband decided to payoff the balance and closed the account. Please do not be a victim! Do not apply or accept Chase Cards. ...

I would like to make one statement to all those complaining about not knowing they need to make minimum payments...have you ever used a credit card before? This is beyond stadnard practice to have to make minimum payments or else your APR will skyrocket. Once again...NOTHING NEW HERE. If you fail to make payments on ANY promotional deal ANYWHERE...you WILL lose that deal. You cannot blame the person in the store for saying the wrong thing...you signed a contract and should have read it. It's all right there.

That being said, Chase is an AWFUL bank and dealing with their customer service is atrocious...I'm not arguing that with anyone. You should make sure you read the terms of anything you sign.

My room mate is experiencing exactly the sort of thing that is being discussed here. First Chase dragged its feet regarding the transfer of accounts, opening a window of opportunity to fine people unjustly for the heinous crime of being confused. To make maters worse, they pushed back her pay date 5 days in another transparent attempt to fleece the public for late fees.
It seems to me that considering how much Chase benefited from the bail-out, that they should be held accountable by oversight for these nefarious and blatantly greedy practices.
But thanks for tipping your hand, Chase. I for one, will never do business with your financial institution or its credit subsidiaries if at all possible.

My experience was almost the exact same one as jjm's. I got the same promotional deal and was even told by the clerk at Circuit City that I can pay as much as I want anytime I want - as long as it's paid in full within the 18 months, there would be no fees or charges. I was paying a monthly amount through the Circuit City website. Then suddenly it was gone. I couldn't find online where to pay. I looked and looked. Finally had enough time to call them and discovered that I had to go through the Chase website now - it had been moved. Because of this, I was late on a payment, and I started incurring fees upon fees - even though I was paying every month on time. I called more than once to complain. Got told it's my responsibility and that I shouldn't have listened to the clerk at the store since he's not the banker. I was told, "there's nothing we can do." OMG. I'd already paid late fees and finance charges that I didn't deserve to pay. And then it all became clear: "So I'll be paying a finance charge every month this balance is not paid in full?" I asked, in utter disbelief. I was told yes, that I should have known that if I missed a payment, the promotional deal would be over. I paid the damned balance in full, closed both my Chase accounts, and removed my name from all Chase mailing lists. I will never bank with Chase again, and I would love to do anything to bring them to court.

Chase Credit is the WORST credit card company I have ever dealt with! I opened a Circuit City card 5 months ago so I could get the 3mo no interest promotion(BIG MISTAKE!) The last month of my promotion I didn't receive a statement so I called and was told as long as I pay off the balance of $150 by my due date I would not be charged any interest. The following month I received a bill for $16.33 of deffered interest. I called and spoke to a VERY RUDE represenative and I was told it there was nothing they could do and the the fee was a valid fee. She said it didn't matter to her what I had been told before because Circuit City didn't exsist anymore. After speaking to several supervisors and getting nowhere I decided to pay the bill and the I was told if I paid over the phone there would be a fee of $14.95. That's not the end of it...I paid over the internet received a confirmation # and a few weeks later get a card saying my bank acct. number was no good and my payment hadn't been accepted. Called again... the rep said she would take my payment over the phone and waive the phone fee but I was told the balance was now $86.33. After speaking to a supervisor and again getting nowhere, I just decided to pay, but of course she told me I had to pay the over the phone fee and that the other rep. was incorrect in telling me she would waive it. I have since cancelled everything affiliated with chase. THEY ARE NOTING BUT RUDE SCAM ARTISTS! I will definetely contact BBB.

I HAD THIS ACCOUNT SINCE 2006, I BOUGHT A TV, DVD SET AND LAPTOP. I BEEN MAKING PAYMENTS ON TIME ALL THE TIME, NEVER LATE. I HAVE A PROMOTIONAL APR OF 0% TIL 5/16/2009, I MADE MY LAST PAYMENT ONLINE ON 5/13/2009 OF 400.00 TO COVER THE PROMOTIONAL APR OF 0% SO I DO NOT GET THE 183.96 OF ACCUM DEFERRED FINANCE CHARGE. I TRIED TO DO A BALANCE TRANSFER WITH BANK OF AMERICA ON 05/03/2009 BUT THEY TELL ME THAT CHASE DO NOT ACCEPT ONLINE BALANCE TRANSFER.BANK OF AMERICA SEND THEM A CHECK ON 05/06/2009, I SPOKE WITH A REP AND HE TOLD ME THAT HE WILL BE CANCELLING THAT CHECK AND DIRECT DEPOSIT THE 400.00 IN MY WELLS FARGO ACCOUNT SO I CAN MAKE THE PAYMENT ONLINE. I DID MY PAYMENT ONLINE LIKE ALWAYS! AND MISTERIOUSLY THE PAYMENT NEVER WAS MADE! I HAVE A CONFIRMATION NUM#[protected] AND THEY CANNOT FIND IT. I BEEN CALLING TO SETTLE THIS WITH CHASE/CIRCUIT CITY, AND NO LUCK! Y BEEN SPOKEN WITH SUPERVISORS ON THE DAY SHIFT, THEN I CALLED AT NIGHT AND THEY TOLD ME NO CALL IN THE MORNING THEY HAVE YOUR CASE! THEY POST ON MY ACCOUNT 2 NSF FUNDS FEE OF 35.00 EACH PLUS .99 CENTS FEE THAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. PLUS THE 183.96 BECAUSE MY PAYMENT WASNT ON TIME. I EXPLAIN TO THEM THE SITUATION BUT NOTHING. I SPOKE TONIGHT TO A MANAGER MANDY RIVAS AND NOTHING WAS DONE EITHER. I HAVE THE NAMES OF 9 DIFFERENT PERSONS FROM CHASE AND NOTHING. I TOOK MY FILE THIS MORNING TO A LOCAL CHASE BANK IN EL PASO, TX. TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION AND THE CUST SERVICE REP TOLD ME THIS IS A DIFFERENT BRANCH YOU NEED TO CALL THE 1800 NUMBER, Y EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND NOTHING. I THINK I TRIED EVERYTHING AND NOTHING. I NEED YOUR HELP. THESE PEOPLE FROM CHASE OUR TERRIBLE. I LOOK ONLINE AND THEY HAVE MILLIONS OF COMPLAINS. ANOTHER THING TO THEY CLOSED MY ACCOUNT ON 5/14/2009 WHEN I NEVER AUTHORIZED THEM TO DO SO? FROM BILLING, CUSTOMER SERVICE ( VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL), ETC.

I have also been treated extremely rudely by the staff at Chase / CircuitCity. I was even told by them that they had no reason to provide customer service or forgive a late charge and 100% of the deferred interest on my charges for being one day late OVER THE HOLDAYS since CircuitCity was out of business and they had no reason to do so anymore. I received another late fee the next month since the first late fee increased my minimum payment amount above the normal monthly amount I had been paying and therefore increased the minimum monthly payment $2 above what I paid.

I am not only closing this account but also all my banking accounts with Washington Mutual that was recently taken over by Chase Bank.

Same Deal! I got the Circuit City 36 months no interest deal last November, was NEVER told by the salesman or anyone else that I had to make a minimal monthly payment, or that if a late fee was assessed, the promotion was void. I skipped the first payment (not knowing I had to make minimal monthy payments), Chase sent a letter to advise me that I had to make minimal payments. I called and they confirmed it, but never said anything that my promotion was now null & void. I recently paid off the total balance (31 months ahead of schedule), and all of a sudden I'm hit with the "deffered accrued interest". when I called to discuss it, they said that the last payment (payoff) was late, and a late fee was acssessed, which made the promotion void. Problem is I had that happen on the first statement, and nothing (including the following statements) said the promotion had been made void. When I mentioned thie and they saw it in their records, I got the old "Dhuhh". If I would have strung the payments out for 36 months I would have been ROBBED by these ###. I'm calling a friend (Lawyer) to see what can be done. In the mean time, shread any Chase cards you have. There's really nothgin that can be done unitl a class action lawsuit is placed (which I'm also looking into)...

Everyone who has been disenfranchised by Chase, or any other credit card company, needs to file a complaint with their local Better Business Bureau. The BBB follows up on all complaints & has been successful in resolving disputes of this nature. How do I know? I used this service when I paid off my bill in full then received a bill for finance charges. The BBB got the company to drop their demand for the charges. If everyone would complain to the BBB they would get inundated & would act as a collective voice for consumers.

Circuit City went bankrupt, and as a result all Chase Circuit City card holders are being automatically applied to new cards in their premier program. It's especially frustrating for people like me, who handle bills online, because I don't know WHO to pay, and they haven't sent me a paper bill in months.

I am furious and extremely frustrated. I have a very similar situation to Chip66. I also had opened a credit account when buying a new tv at circuit city that stated i did not have to make any monthly required payments whatsoever - interest or principle - for two years. however, they went ahead and charged my late finance fees almost every month nonetheless. even after calling customer service and explaining their mistake, they would corect it up to that point but hten the next month go back to charging me again. they've now ruined my credit and are harrassing me and my family with an agency collection. i am told that any correspondence to resolve this siutation can only be done in written form with some back office that doesnt have a phone number to call. also they wont even allow me to access ym account online or over the phone any longer. can anyone offer me help out there? i'm lost

I recently used my Chase credit card approx. 2 wks. ago. Received the statement and paid in full as usual. Today I returned the item that I had purchased and was given the credit on my card. At another store this evening I decided to use the card for another purchase so that I could use the credit. My card was denied? As soon as I was out of the store I called the customer service number, the recording said my account was closed & when I tried to talk to someone to find out why I was given regular business hrs. recording. I doubt that I will ever get my money back from Chase, and what is there that can be done?

we have bought numerous items on our chase card and have many times called and actually went into circuity city to make sure we were not doing anything wrong making payments. We have just payed off our promotional balance in Feburary. Just got a 2k bill from chase today, what did we do wrong you ask. First off we had one late payment in which we went to circuit city on the due date and paid. this was not processed until the next day, I guess thats our fault. Here is the kicker, throughout the rest of the promotional deal we were charged a large finance charge included on our payoff. This is even after we called and got the late fee reversed due to something that was not our fault. what in the hell is going on with these banks, this is a crime, and they would get away with this if it weren't this much money. We are not going to take this laying down. what a joke, with the added finance charges we have paid up to 50% over what the products we purchased are worth. they want there cake and to eat it to. Not without A fight you jikky jaks, game on. I'm pissed and not going to take it anymore. I never thought i'd say i'd rather pay a lawer then someone else, its time, put up your dukes chase.

I have several issues with my Chase account through Circuit City and am about ready to seek litigation regarding my account. I had a coupon for NO INTEREST/PAYMENTS for 18 months. It was back in July and I have had nothing but trouble since then, including a payment I made for Christmas that was applied for my promotional balance that was due in 2010! I got stuck with 2 separate finance charges even though i had made my payments on time. Now, for the 2nd time I am being asked to prove my coupon that I used is valid and I just found out that a second payment I made to satisfy the company becasue my payment WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ALLOCATED BY MYSELF was charged an extra 200.00 to my checking account when they had the correct amount on the check already. I am so done with these people! I am out for blood now...

Chase is horrible! They stuck me with a deferred interest fee on a Circuit City Charge account that was paid-off. Interestingly enough, they stuck this fee to me the day after the account was paid in full. When I called Chase, the Customer Service Rep indicated this was because the pay-off did not post until a day after the actual transaction to pay-off the account. They indicated that fees are processed prior to payments. I told him that I thought this was deceptive. Did you not post my payment intentionally on the day of the actual payment, just to stick me with a bogus fee? Of course they denied this. When I asked to speak with someone with more authority, he inidcated that there was nobody else above him that could do anything. Unless he was the CEO, there should be somebody else. Chase is a joke. I can only hope that legislation is put into place someday that will protect consumers from companies like this. Either that or a class-action lawsuit.

I purchased a compute from CIrcuit City last September. I have never received a statement or any credit cards. The past two days I have received multiple phone calls from Circuit City/Chase with a computerized voice telling me I am late on my payment, however, I have not received a statement. The computerized voice tells me they will be happy to take my checking account information over the phone. I don't trust this. What's worse is there is NO option to speak with a person! I don't know what my account number is, so I can't register online.

This is a HUGE sca. I have had a similiar experience. For 9 months I have called every month and asked for a statement and to this day have never received one. I have asked that a statement be faxed, mailed, emailed or I would pick it up form a bank! Once I was told my account was marked paperless and email statements were sent. Of course I have never received an email. Next I was told the statements have all been mailed and none have been returned. Of course I never received a mailing. Twice I was told they had the wrong fax# written down. I emailed customer service numerous times, I called at least 12 times and meanwhile they are charging me late fee after late fee. When I could not stand it any longer, I paid the account in full via phone. I was then told that the $1600.00 was paid but there was a $9.95 fee for a phobne payment and they could not take the payment until it showed up on my next statement! I have been charged an Additional $35.00 late fee and Finance charges on the $ 9.95!
At this point I have paid approx $250.00 dolars in fees for an account that was opened between July 08 and Jan 09 - an account for which I still have not received a statement. I am going to the BBB and suggest you all do the same.

This is so true Circut City is a fraud...and have been for a number of years. They have ripped off consumers for a number of years. But guess what the business that worked for Circut City also ripped them off alike. I worked for a business that did that I am not proud of it and it seems like what goes around to you fraud run businesses it comes around twice as bad. So try doing business the ethical way and try treating your employees with respect because they are the ones that make you rich in the end as always.
OBAMA your a joke...you have not help the middle class people yet and your true color is coming really clear at this time.

Chase Should be out of business along with Circuit City! they are nothing more than scam artists! Any and every credit card I have ever had was up front about everything. Not these people. I paid off my balance as stated on my monthly bill. The next month there is a finance charge! My bill was paid on time and no other charges were made. I thought it was a mistake, Maybe it didn't post or something. The next month now I have a late fee and more finance charges! So I call to find out what is up. The "customer service rep", would not speak to me because it was in my husbands name, she would take a payment, but nothing more! So I tried again a few days later and got someone who would explain this all to me. She said just pay the orginial finance charge because even though you paid in full, we dont charge the full finance charge until the day you pay? I have never heard of such a thing! So I pay the finance charge (even though I think this is wrong) but she says she will take off the late fee and other finance charge...guess what we have been going through this now for 9 (nine) months! The phone does not stop ringing! we have spoken to numerous people, told them to listen to your recorded conversations! Promises to take care of it obviously does not happen! Last phone call I told them I was contacting my lawyer and that this was harrasment! THIS IS THE WORST CREDIT CARD COMPANY I HAVE EVER HAD! HARRASSMENT, SWINDLERS AND EXTORTION COMES TO MY MIND!

I have the same experience too. I bought a WII Verge gun and tried it out. the trigger was broken! I called the store. Same thing as what you have experienced. My WII verge gun was warrantied by the Circuit City! I went back to the store, the store supervisor refused to exchange it. I asked the supervisor for her name, she refused to give it to me. I asked for the liquidator, they said they are not around and they do not even know who their liquidators was, since they have four of them. I feel this is so unethical behaviour. They cheated me for a broken product. There are plenty of them out there, like you, i should trust my instinct that if there are so many out there, probably it is not a bargain anymore.

I advise people get something from Circuit City that is warrantied by the manufactures and always check the product. They are crooked! By the way, the things you can get in Circuit City, you can get it elsewhere way way cheaper.. Don't rush to the deal people.

I had a Chase/Ciruit City Credit card since 1998...It has remained inactive for many years. (Paid in Full)
All my credit cards are paid on time.
I was notified by Equifax that Chase/Circuit City has place a NEGATIVE mark on my Credit Report Stating that I filed BANKRUPTCY in August 2008.
WHAT?
I have spent the entire moring on the computer and on the phone trying to figure this out...
I have no idea how much time and energy this is going to take to try and straighten up?
I DID NOT FILE BANKRUPTCY!
This is news to me...

I had a experience very close to that one only difference they where clearly not busy they had employee standing around s cluster and when i as one of them to help me the employee said it wasn't his area and directed with his pointer finger that person i was looking for should be over by the movies and when i ask the manager for help after i explained what happen he said one minute i get someone to help you and 10 minutes pass and no one retuned. No i was spending 3000.00 but poor service is poor service nd the Lancaster store is the worst i have ever encountered.

Lady please, Do you really think the cc manager or the sales associate gives a flying rats ### if your boss was helped or if she was going to spend $3000.00? Come on, i worked there and let me tell you one thing... They don't give a crap , circuit city doesn't make anything on computers so I'm pretty sure they didn't lose any sleep over the loss of that sale. All you customers are to circuit city is cattle , an annoyance to them something they have to deal with. And trust me, its not your fault or anyone else. Its circuit city's, they get what they pay for and thats lousy managers and lousy associates. Circuit city is just joining the ranks of the wal-mart era. Get in get out. It never used to be that way but since they decided to fire all of us seniors and replace us with snot nosed 16 year old kids what do you expect?
