Canon Rip off

I purchased a Canon MX 860 copier. My old Canon copier performed to my satisfaction. I have one major complaint with the new Canon. The Ink cartridges are smaller and the ink cartridges have to be bought from Canon. +

My ink supplier, Cartridge World cannot supply a refill cartridge, because Canon has a chip in the ink supply cartridge. This maybe true with other suppliers of copiers, I am not sure. Canon rips you off in two ways. 1. Smaller cartridges and 2.no way to refill the old cartridge. The copier performs ok, but not as good as my old one.

I am totally disgusted with this PIXMA MG2522 printer that I bought back in February and hardly used. Granted it was pretty cheap but I thought I would get at least a year out of it. I can't use it at all because it leaves off half the page and grabs a clump of 10 sheets of paper at a time !

I owned other Canon products for years that worked great but at this point I will never buy a Canon product ! It is shameful that I was sold this item and it should never have been made and marketed to the public !

Bought a MP 145 got a bout 10 prints from it, The lines and other problems. Changed the cartridges as asked, And again, trouble costing about £25 135 rm here inMalaysiaa, it ran ok, for another 6 prints, later in the year again, All dried up, tried to get it going, Just but more trouble, the scanner too, also lines, . Stupid me, went out and bout another as 2 years went by hardly any use, Same trouble with the new up graded model. I took it in, they charged me 200 Rm for repair, OMG got it back home, Still not perfecto What a load of CRAP !

Still I have not able to get good prints, Cartage's are a stupid price, Canon cameras are good and the CPS service highly rated, Only mistake was the 30D and the 1DMK III I was sold in belief it was full frame, NOT . Would they do anything to exchange or take it back, NO! £2500 lost should have got the 5d

Canon Scam Artists

I placed an online order for a Canon SD780-IS (red) for $128 with free shipping. The description page listed availability as "usually ships in 1 to 2 business days". The next day I received an e-mail saying they needed to confirm with me via telephone. When I called, they said they were surprised that I had not ordered the rechargeable battery and recharger as they did not come with the camera. The camera comes from Canon with these items as evidenced by the fact that everywhere else I looked, they were included. ShopAndStopDigital.com did not list these items as being included, but rather stated simply that a "battery" was included (along with a few other accessories). The salesman stated that I could purchase the rechargeable battery for $59.99 right then or call later and it would cost $99. The recharger would be $69.99. Moreover, once I declined both items, he informed me that it was backordered and would not ship for 7-8 weeks. The advertised price for the whole package at major retailers was $199 at the time. Clearly they are advertising low prices to draw consumers in, then attempting to get more money out of them than honest competitors. Having read other complaints about them after the fact, I feel extremely grateful that they gave me the option of cancelling the order. Total waste of time.

Dealing With Poor Customer Service

All companies are only concerned with their bottom line. All companies have very poor customer service representatives. My advice:
1. First try to settle the matter with the company’s CSR. It will not do any good but you have tried.
2. Be polite but firm.
3. Ask for the name, number and state the CSR you are talking to is from. If you are transferred to a foreign country ask to speak to a CSR in North America.
4. Keep written copies of all your correspondence. Insist that all replies from the company be in writing. Good luck on that one, companies don’t like to leave a paper trail.
5. If you don’t like writing, record the calls, advise the CSR that you are recording the call.
6. If you have an attorney and three-party calling, arrange to have your attorney on the line before you call the company. My attorney advised me that you are not required to inform the CSR or company that another person is monitoring the call .Keep copies of all of the bills you receive. The eventual lawyers, FCC, BBB and state attorney general will want copies of all of your paper work.
7. File a complaint with the FCC about your cell phone carrier, it won't do any good, but it's on record.
8. If it is not a cell phone carrier, file the complaint with the FTC, or whichever of thousands of government agencies that handle your issue.
9. Please realize that all government agencies are overworked and have been paid off by lobbyist.
10. Join any class action lawsuit against the company.
11. File a complaint with your local Better Business Bureau.
12. Contact your state attorney general.
13. During this prolonged economic rough patch all companies are out to make money anyway they can.
14. Join any class action lawsuit against the cell phone carrier. The lawyers will take the bulk of the settlement after years of ligation. When the company finally settles they will pass the cost of the settlement onto their customers, write if off on their taxes or both if they can get away with it.
15. Do this with any company or service you are having problems unresolved problems with that company or service.
16. I realize this is a lot of work, but it’s the only way to get things to change. Don’t expect overnight results, they won’t happen.
I give you this advice at no charge.

Canon Not Getting paid

I did my first online mystery shopping assignment on April 30, 2009, and it's now June 17, 2009 and I never got paid. They were responding to me a few times in the support section in their website, and they finally stopped communicating with me as time went on and when I started complaining I never got paid. There is no address listed in their website, only saying their near Niagara Fall, Ontario. That doesn't make sense to me. The phone number I tried calling is not good. I get an operator recording saying, The call can not be completed, please check the number and try again.

I applied for a job through this company as a Mystery Shopper. I got the job. Before, I started I had a question about their Agreement so, I sent the quote below to them and I never ever heard from them again:

" I do have a question regarding the Canon Research Group Agreement. The question pertains to section:

Terms and Termination:

3. The Company may terminate this Agreement and your engagement hereunder at any time prior to the expiration of this Agreement without notice, or any further payment of fees, for cause.

Can you please provide me with clarification for the above portion of the CRG contract? Does this mean that I would not be reimbursed for any shipping charges or other job charges related to a prior or current job task, if I was terminated, but had already accumulated job related charges and receipts for completed prior mystery shopping assignments?

Thank you for taking to the time to provide me with clarification. I greatly appreciate it."

My experience, little as it was, plus the person who wrote prior makes me say that Cannon Research Group is a SCAM!

Canon Lies and more lies

Bought a camera. They had me call to confirm the order which I did. I did not buy any extras when asked. I clearly asked if it was in stock which they confirmed and gave me a 1-2 day ship date. I called a week later to find out it was on back order and the lies began again. These people are rip offs andfalse advertisers. They will waste your time. They should be shut down. When confronted they lie some more and then insult you.

When I purchased my camera in Dec 2006 I was told that if I took the extended warranty they would service it locally if anything happened within the year. When I went in to have service on same I was told it was over the year. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to know that it was within the year. I complained to the manager and he said he could do nothing. It only goes to show that service is not important only the sale. I own and operate a consumer company and believe me other people will hear about it.

Canon Printer MP 240

Recently bought new computer at BestBuy. They made special deal for new printer, a Canon MP 240, but made no mention of ink cartridge cost. Lordy, it uses two; a black (210) and one tri-color (211). They cost about $25.00 each. This is highway robbery. I've had the printer since later October 08...about 2 months and I've used over $100. worth of ink. Hell, they should just give the printers away! Really, something must be done to protect the average consumer dealing with this kind of deception. Who monitors it?FTC or?
I had an older model Canon, Pixma IP 4000, which used 5 small cartidges at a cost of about $20. for all in the after market ink industry. They worked fine for years! Nothing illegal about using after market either. courts have held that they do not void warranty. Like a car company demading that you buy EXXON gas only!

Canon Bad service

My printer had an issue where the black and color ink were printing weakly, so after using the suggestions provided online by canon, such as deep cleaning, refreshing print heads, etc. nothing worked. I continued my search online for a solution (because its not like Canon is going to pay my phone bill while I waste MY minutes on hold for their customer service). In an online forum another person had said they had received information from Canon's customer service that if you take out the print head and clean it with hot water and soak it, it would clear out the dried ink. I do this, and now the printer's alarm goes off saying 'PUT IN CARTRIDGE' even though the cartridge is already in there. Basically now I need to buy a new print head for 50 bucks, because the hot water damaged mine. My printer is past warranty, and I'm sorry but 50 bucks is ridiculous for a print head (that may or may not work again). I may as well spend an extra 50 bucks for a more current printer! I have had other printers in the past that have lasted way longer than this. I will NEVER buy another product from Canon again.

Canon Bad camera repair

I sent this camera in for repair.

When it was completed, it was to be sent to me at my daughters house in Ohio. The camera was sent to my home address instead, in Oregon.

I tried to ask Canon to contact Fedex, to give them the correct address, since there is no one to accept it in Oregon.

I was told that Fedex would have to try to deliver it 3 times, then return it to the factory. I called fedex, who said that, if Canon would call them, the package could be redirected to Ohio without the 3 trys.

I was informed by Canon that they would not do that.

By the time they finally get it back, I will be nearly ready to return to Oregon.

Can anyone help me?

This is the most unfriendly company I think I have ever had to deal with.

Canon I was scammed

I ordered a Canon G9 Digital camera and an ultra high speed SD memory card from this company on Monday 13 October this year and received an email asking me to make a phone call to confirm my order. When I did, the person I spoke to began to convince me to buy an additional battery. I explained to him that the battery that came with the camera would do for me and he said that it has a short life-span of 15 minutes while the one he was going to sell to me at additional cost of $149 would have a life of 5 hours. He said he would also sell me a G10 in place of the G9 that I ordered and give me the battery charger at no extra charge. I accepted his proposal but asked him to send me a pro forma showing an itemized costs and he said he would do just that. After waiting for one hour without hearing from him I called his number but a recorded message told me they have closed for the day so I sent in an email requesting to have the details of what I am purchasing. That email was never responded to. On the 17th I received an email from the company informing me they have sent my order after charging my credit card $544.62 as against the intial grand total of $370.82. It was not itemized but instead presented as a "bundle package deal". I received the camera two days later and discovered that this man is full of lies. First he did not send two batteries as he had promised but only one which I found out from the camera manual was actually the battery that came with the camera and can work up to 5 hours. Again, although I paid $89.99 for an ultra high speed SD 2GB memory card, he sent to me the inferior Dane-elect SD card that is not more than $15 in the market. I have made several attempts to speak with him about this matter but the moment I introduce myself he would drop the phone on me. I have done a little investigation and now know that this man is using two business names inorder to con people and remain elusive. I'll want to reveal his true identity so that any of his victims who wants to take action agains him can do so. His name is Simon Silver and his genuine business name is Megawholesale located at 1151 McDonald Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11230. His order phone number not listed on his fake website (without address) is [protected]. I have seen by what many people have wriiten on your site that I am not the only agrieved person. I have followed the example of some and called my credit card company to change my number. That company is capable of anything. I thank you for this opportunity to make this complaint through your website and advise anybody who reads this my complaint not to buy anything from HD Camera World. They are not straight.

Canon Fraudulent selling practices

I found this company on the Internet. I was looking to buy a digital camera. Their customer rating was high and they offered the camera that I was looking for at the price of $104. I ordered the camera and received a confirmation e-mail from them. Later, I received 3 more e-mails and a missed phone call at my work phone number requesting that I contact them to confirm information on my order. When I called them, they tried to sell me additional accessories to my camera...specifically batteries. When I told the agent that the camera used 2 AA batteries, he tried to tell me yes, but they require "special" AA batteries. I told him that I had rechargeable AA batteries for my other camera and that I was not interested and that I looked forward to receiving my camera soon and I hung up the phone. I then received another e-mail...

Can you not call up your Credit card company and let them know about this scam and that they should NOT allow such a charge to go through? Give them the name of the company and the amount of charge expected. Tell them that NO charges from this company should be approved.

Once you do that, call the company and tell them that you do not want any holds/waits and that you want to cancel your order. THey should own up for any mistakes of 'instock' notices. Even if they say they have it 'in stock' now, DO NOT purchase. Just cancel. No matter what, cancel that order.

There are tons of such scamsters out there. Just stay alert and be careful.

Canon Poor quality

The Canon Color imageRUNNER C3220 has worked well at the beginning but now constantly jams once a month or start to print yellow copies. The machine has to be in good working conditions at all times for the high demand that we’re doing at the Miami International Airport. The Canon always seems to break down when we have big jobs that comes from the upper management.

Another problem with the Canon Color imageRUNNER C3220 in the color. We’ve has a Xerox Docu Color 12 copies for twice as long as the Canon and still get better colors and performance with the old machine. For the money that we’re spending on our Canon’s I think the performance should be top notch.

Canon moisture damage

My 3-mo old Canon sI5 stopped working for no apparant reason; I turned it off and then it wouldn't turn back on. Same story, same words as others I've read. Sent it back to factory. Factory claimed water damage, they took pics, etc., said moisture voided warranty. I was informed that the camera was being returned "unrepaired" because it was "beyond economical repair". Their response was "we have no idea of how the water damage happened, you were the one in possesion of the camera at that time", yada, yada yada. In the 3-4 mos we owned it there was no direct exposure to moisture, other than household humidity, outside humidity (not rain!), hand moisture, etc. It is clear to me that there is a design/manufacturing defect in this camera which makes it susceptible to corrosion. This problem is probably due to poor/contaminated materials in the electronics, internal electrolysis, poor sealing of camera body. There seem to be hundreds of this specific complaint on the internet. Since corrosion is not instantaneous, it probably took the 3-4 mos I owned the camera for it to fester and short things out; in other words it was already corroding from the day or even before the day I purchased it thru AMAZOM. Canon seems to be hiding behind their warranty to not repair/replace/make good to customers. The bottom line here is that I am out $350. after 4 monts, and the camera stopped working 1 day into an expensive 4- day vacation. My wife and I spent considerable time on the phone w/ Jackie, Freda & Supv Marvin w/ absolutely no satisfaction. Through their actions, Canon has basically said "tough luck", but "we value you as a customer" - GIVE ME A BREAK ! THANK YOU CANON FOR THIS WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE ! I WILL MAKE SURE TO PASS THIS ON TO FRIENDS & FAMILY !

Canon Refused to honor sale on Camera

On 7/13/08 I ordered a camera they had just put on sale, the Canon Powershot A720.

When I got my email order confirmation I noticed that the shipping date was two weeks away. I emailed customer support and was told the item was in stock but would now not ship until three weeks away!

They couldn't explain it any further. I emailed executive customer support and got no response for nearly a week. I finally got a response from a Prem R when I copied the email again to Dell's Customer Advocacy. Prem R claimed to have called me with no success - which was a lie since all of our phones have caller id and none showed any unknown or blocked numbers.

After three days I finally was able to reach Prem R at the number he gave and he claimed that Canon discontinued that model camera and I would have to go the Dell's web site and order another, more expensive, camera or cancel the order. He refused to honor the sale price or even a similar discount on another order. I declined to cancel.

I then checked Canon's web site and also called them and confirmed that the Canon Powershot A720 was a current model that had only been on the market eight months. They couldn't understand why anyone would claim it was discontinued.

I emailed Prem R and others at Dell once again about this. They never replied but did (around 8/4/08) cancel my order without informing me directly about the cancellation.

I went to buy one of these on Aug 9 and was told by a salesman at Sears that they didn't have any left and that this model is discontinued.

My guess is that Canon doesn't want to officially announce to customers that it's discontinued, or that a new model is coming, until all the channel inventory sells out.

Canon deceptive business practices

This company lists many products from Canon and they display great deals but they don't give you all the necessary details. I ordered an Canon EOS 40D because it was only $499 for the body. If you look most anywhere else you would think that this comes with the cables, batteries, boxes, software, manual, and the like. In fact you literally only get the body. My order never went through because I was informed that the item was not in stock and would not be for many weeks to come. I later received an email telling me my order had been processed so I called to find out what was going on. They told me the website states the item is not in stock. That's not true. They also told me I would have received only the body and none of the necessary peripherals required to operate the camera that any normal person would assume they would get. Furthermore, they told me they are not an authorized Canon dealer yet they list all sorts of cameras and lenses from Canon. Fortunately I wasn't ripped off but this experience reminds me that a deal that looks too good to be true probably is.

Canon Camera

Ordered a Canon camera from this company on line - was called several days later to be told that the camera came with nothing - no cables, no battery, no memory card. Told me that I would have to pay extra for this package, raising the price of the camera by $80.00. Was also told that I would have to pay $20+ for insurance even though the camera was advertised with free shipping.
Then I was told I could not cancel the order without a cancelling charge. I have been on the phone and email with them everyday since then. Was told that my order was canceled and my credit card was not charged, but the charge is there. Was told that my account will be credited, but it has not been. Now I am told that the camera has been shipped to me.
Do not order from this company. Wish I had checked this site before I ordered the camera.

I purchased camera from this shop keeper and he sold it to me for 967 SD. He told I will get refund of approx 100 SD where I get only 48 SD at Airport. He sold 600D as newly launched camera. I believed his as I heard in Singapore no one cheats. I found later he has cheated with at least 250 Singapore Dollars (SD).

Correction. It wasn't Canon that was the Fraud - it was DIGITAL TECH GEAR that "sold" me the camera on a Yahoo related site, that I had to buy via a loaded Green Dot card ($400) I bought from Rite Aid. I entered the PIN as directed but never received the camera. When I went to their website it had shut down. I complained to Consumer Complaints and have never heard from them either.

Canon Terrible service!

Another warning regarding Canon! I bought a new Pixma 9500 on the strength of Amazons description stating that it would run on Windows 98 right upto Vista. I purchased from A.J.Purdey at the lowest price I could find of £500 -a bargain! Assembled printer as per instructions and loaded the software into the p.c. to end up with an on screen warning "Will not work with this operating system" My p.c. runs on Win. M.E. I emailed Amazon protesting that their information was incorrect and received a very apologetic email but it stated that their information came direct from Canon. I emailed Canon who gave me a reference number and asked for a copy of the receipt of purchase. This I duly did and included Amazons web page so they could see for themselves. They emailed back telling me I'd be contacted by someone technical in about five days and that's the last I've heard. I've emailed four times since, each time quoting my ref. number and enclosing the receipt and Amazons web page which is still, after four months, stating this printer will run on all Windows 98 on. I will have to buy a new p.c. and by the time I get to use this printer, the warranty will nearly be out! I have several thousand pounds worth of Canon photographic equipment and have been a staunch supporter of Canon for many years but I would now happily dump it all and re-equip with Nikon if only I could afford to. Canon do not give a damn about any consumer once they have your money. BE WARNED!

That seems to be the attitude of many large companies these days. Nikon is not noted for being the most helpful or no hassle type of a company either. The attitude these days is "pay your money, take your chances and shut up".
