I received the attached bill and noticed that my insurance had not made any payment towards this. Dr. White’s staff told me that Aetna would cover this procedure. I told Dr. White of this situation, who asked his staff to investigate it. The staff rep told me on the way out of the office to call the number on the statement, because I would have better luck getting help than they would.
I called the number on the statement and spoke with “Lou”. I had a stent procedure on June 2, 2025, and Aetna paid their portion, but for the August 4th procedure, they did not. So, I asked Lou to verify that the coding on both statements was the same. Lou said that he was not a doctor so he would not know what was right. I explained it did not matter, just see if the coding on both dates were the same. He refused and told me to contact my insurance company. I asked Lou to contact my insurance company, and he refused. He said I do not make outside calls. He kept repeating that it was my problem and I needed to fix it with Aetna. I informed him that Aetna was not going to give me the correct codes. Lou assured me that was my problem. I asked Lou’s last name, and he said he could not say because of security issues. I asked for his employee I.D. number and got the same answer. I asked him to speak to his supervisor or manager, and Lou told me the phone line was full, and he could not forward my phone call.
I called Aetna and they were extremely helpful. The rep did look up both dates and said on 6/2/25, the coding was for stents and on 8/4/25, it was for “experimental sonic blasting” or something like that which Medicare does not pay for.
Not wanting a repeat with Lou, I called the main hospital and asked to speak to the Manager of Billing. Nothing. I then called the number for patient support and left my name and phone number. I never received a call back. As of this date, 10/2902025, I still have not received a response.
