Baptist Health System Billing

The people working the phones for billing are inept. I have called at least 10 times since Dec. 4th and every time I'm told the problem has been fixed. Somewhere along the way someone put in the computer that my son had no current insurance of which I pay for. Even when I did a three way with BCBS and Baptist, it was still not corrected. Today a got a final notice. I called again and was told it had not been entered correctly. The stress is horrible when you don't know at what point you will be turned into collections. They either have really bad training or the people they hired lack the intelligence to do the job.

Desired outcome: Have testing of personal by calling in as a patient to see if they are doing their jobs. Get rid of those unable to do the job correctly. Quit sending me bills for full pay without sending them to the insurance.

Baptist Health System Billing

I had some tests run before having triple bypass back in sept of 2021 and insurance paid and my part was several thousand dollars so I set up payments. and paid all my payments on time every month and now that its paid off the insurance took back money that had already been paid out for some test to Baptist so now Baptist is going to charge me for the test, I called and told them what I waould pay and they said I had to pay the amount that they wanted so I made a good faith. offer to pay and they would not accept it

Claimed loss: i dont feel like i owe the money if it was paid and then Baptist gave the money back to the insurance company and then want me to be responsible.

Desired outcome: accept what i am able to pay

Baptist Health System Poor service

As a user of the Baptist Site for about 30 years I have noticed that in the last 7 - 10 years the system has become a travesty. The communication has become non existent. The portal device is a joke. Was put I place by someone to take the load of the employees of Baptist, and place the problem on the patients. Usually there is not a problem with the Doctors but getting an appointment cancelling an appointment or just getting to the appointment has become more that an issue. The administrative has become nonexistent. I find it such a shame that the name of Baptist is used by such a sham.

Desired outcome: The only solution I can see is get rid of the 38 that make up the so called governing body OR replacing the CEO with a Doctor of Medicine and get rid of the make believe what ever that is filling the CEO POSITION.

On July 27, I visited Baptist Health Neurology in New Albany, Indiana. I am diagnosed with Paroxysmal Atrial Tachycardia and PVC's. I was being treated with Premidone for essential tremors. I was advised by my Electrophysiologist not to deviate from my proscribed dosages of premidone, Leah Phillips-Black, the physcian assistant had written a detailed...

Baptist Health System Emergency room

Went in for high blood pressure at 1:30pm. In the emergency room waiting area, there a sick, possibly contagious people mixed with people who have other problems. People who have problems that are not contagious. There is no separation. In the hours I was there nothing was disinfected. Chairs were not wiped down. There are not enough chairs for everyone to sit. The staff is always friendly but there needs to be a better way. I was not called in to a room until 7:30pm. I was in the room 30 minutes. Only to be told my labs were ok & I could go home. I went home, blood pressure is still high, I still feel horrible. Doctor on board was probably very busy with other pressing matters/patients. If a person goes into the ER it’s because they aren’t feeling well. No time is taken to actually listen to the patient. Many of labs were low, others high. I was not explained anything about my labs. I was able to see lab results on my own on the patient portal. I was Just dismissed.

Desired outcome: I’d appreciate a response

Baptist Health System Front office coordinator unprofessional and unaware of everything

I went to Dr. Manocha's office for scheduled blood work as I am a long-time patient of over 10 years with many comorbidities Candace refused to let me do my blood work and canceled my appointments.

I am aware he is out of network it would be my out of network benefits and I would be responsible for ov. All she has to do is put a message for billing patient aware of out of network and responsible. They have a referral, and it has been approved by Dr. Mann as I had to switch insurances due to my employer closed by DOJ. The referral has continuation of care as Dr. Mann's office is aware that I have all established doctors. This is not unusual or maybe to Candace-front desk it is. Candace-front desk obviously is not aware that claim maybe paid as Aetna covered my cardiologist when he was out of network. Insurance always has the disclaimer it's not guaranteed until processed.

Because of Candace not being diligent it's been over 2 weeks that I have not had my diabetic medication. or treatment.

Desired outcome: A response, apology and treatment as I am established patient. Aetna did not get required information to approve my RX. To do what Candace did is patient abandonment. Not informed on patient care, insurance, billing, referrals

Baptist Health System Never experienced a hospital setting that bad

On June 12th 2023 I went to the Prattville Baptist Hospital to get a drain removal from a surgery on Wednesday the 7th. I arrived around 11am. I sat in the ER waiting room for approximately 3hours. I was called back and placed in the hallway for another 2 hours, finally at 5:30 pm I let them know that I was leaving. I saw numerous people go before me that wasn’t even in the waiting room when I went back and non was a life or death situation. I pray my skin color didn’t have anything do do with this but I can’t help but to wonder. I came to Montgomery to Jackson Hospital ER signed in and within 35 minutes my drain was removed and I was headed home. I have gone to Prattville Baptist many times since I moved to this area and the service has always been outstanding. But sometimes you can get bad players that can ruin the whole team. I am fortunate enough that I can choose any health care facility that I want to so this only costs me time. But I pray for the ones that have to put up with this because they have no choice.

Baptist Health System Scheduling patient visits

I as refered Gastroenterology for a procedure. after a couple of weeks i get a call to schedule an appointment. They are able to give me a date but not a time for the appointment 6 weeks away. they tell me they will call the day before and tell me what time i need to be there. I do not drive and this is not acceptable and not what i am looking for in health care. so i now have 6 weeks to find a provider who is more concerned with how they treat their patients. I checked my chart it shows i got a phone call but does not show i have an appointment. I do not want my health concerns in the hands of people who operate like this.

I can be contacted at [protected]@yahoo.com

Desired outcome: I would like a call from the provider giving me a time for the appointment. I will be looking for a new provider if i do not receive a time for the appointment next week i will choose someone else.

Baptist Health System waiting times at diagnostic imaging

Joseph Mason scheduled for echocardiogram and CT of chest. Registered at 0930, was finished with echo at 1008 and checked in at diagnostic imaging at 1010. After waiting 1 hour I went up to desk and asked if they had forgotten me. Kaylan called to the back and she then stated to me that I was scheduled for 1130. I was finally taken back at 1140. This is very inappropriate customer service. Patients should be made aware of any gaps in scheduling ahead of time. We would not have waited if we knew if the delay. We could have taken care of other business if we had been made aware. I believe the wait times wer built in as a convenience for your organization. Wasting a customer's time to optimize your profits is not good business practice

Baptist Health System Baptist Mariners Hospital 91500 Overseas Hwy, Tavernier, FL

I visited the ER room on 03/11/2023 for multiple stings (around 20) from a sea urchin. The Dr. on call was Michael Sanchez, D.O. After taking an X-Ray of my right foot he refused to remove the spines and sent me home on antibiotics. He stated there was nothing that needed to be done even though I insisted that I wanted the spines to be removed from my foot to avoid an infection. The following day I was unable to walk and had to be admitted to the hospital for surgical removal of a foreign object. I was charged a $375.00 hospital charge for not being admitted on the day of my visit.

I'm requesting that I be reimbursed for the amount of $375.00 since I was wrongly diagnosed and had to be admitted the following day. I had multiple puncture wounds that were venomous and had to be removed immediately. At the hospital I had to be administered intravenous antibiotics since they were embedded on my right foot and had to have them surgically removed. If I would have left it untreated a number of serious complications could have occurred. Had I not acted quickly this could have turned out to be much more serious.

Patient Name: Clara Gonzalez

Date of Service: 03-11-2023

FIN: [protected]

Contact # [protected]

Email: [protected]@hotmail.com

Hope to hear a positive response from you soon.

Clara Gonzalez

Desired outcome: Reimbursement of the $375.00 dollar payment since I had to be admitted to the hospital. I intended to upload the admitted document to Mercy Hosptial but was unable to uploaded. It says error occurred.

Baptist Health System Employee parking

I’ve noticed that everyday, the employees have been parking in patients parking. It’s today and saw the Obgyn nurses/aides were parking front row while I had to walk my newborn in the cold windy snow to the office. Can’t they have their parking elsewhere so we as Latican park closer? This is unacceptable. Today is Jan 13th saw nurse from obey with "Jessica" license plate walk from lunch.

Desired outcome: Make them park in lower lot

Baptist Health System Dr James Harrow I

If you planning on visiting Dr James harrow. pump your brakes. This man is racist period. I overlooked it. thought I was being sensitive. Until his own NP was frustrated and didn't mind me recording how she witnessed the micro racism. His nurse got mad cause we would provide what she needed a tampered with our results. He tried sweeping it under the table by firing the patient instead of informing them of the issue. And privacy is out the window. This man came out side and discussed all my confidential information in front of nurses patients and onlookers. He is a ticking lawsuit. there well over 30 other that has mess over by this man sad what a sad addiction to Baptist

Desired outcome: Look into the situation

Baptist Health System Mask Policy

Today, I went to Baptist Health Urgent Care for a head injury. But the receptionist asked me to wear mask. I can't believe that this clinic is still forcing people to wear useless and very harmful masks! I told her that I have mask exemption from my PCP. She wanted to see the letter by not believing me and I showed her signed letter. I can't wear mask. And she still denied my right. This clinic forces patients to put a face clothing before treating them. They're mask police, not real doctors under oath. They took an oath to treat patients but all they care is forcing political mask that has nothing to do with science. By denying to treat me for not wearing face clothing for which I have an exemption, they violated my patient rights and my civil rights. This is blatant discrimination. Shame on them!

Desired outcome: Stop forcing people to wear mask. Mask mandates in Florida ended in May 2021. You can't force people to cover their mouth and breathe in the toxins and bacteria on dangerous masks. Many people like me have medical reason not to wear one.

Baptist Health System Lack of respect from baptist workers

I do not appreciate the service provided by Donna over the phone from 904.202.9500. The last name of my PCM at Naval Hospital Jax is Jones (easy to remember) and my Diabetic Dr. is Simmons (easy to remember). The callback was hours later and not minutes later. I was walking my dogs and do not carry my referral letter with me while walking the dogs. I could not remember the name of Dr. Praveen K Kanaparti. I do not appreciate the grief from Donna, nor do I appreciate the fact that she ended the call by hanging up on me. I do not dispute the fact that she is an asset to Baptist Health, but she needs to be more compassionate than she was. I have retired from the ship side of the Navy and Fire side of the Philadelphia Fire Department. Your downtown campus is quite expansive. All I wanted to know is where to go for my Cardiac MRI. When we showed up on location in Philly, people were having one of the worst days of their lives, and in some cases, the worst day of their lives. I pass the downtown campus at least ten times weekly and know that the construction costs are several million dollars. I also know that the word Baptist is in your name, and to me, that indicates that your health system is Christian based. The first person who I dealt with at Baptist was I believe Darcy McNeil in Estimating. Tricare and Humana was telling me that my co-pay would be $33.00. Darcy was telling me it would be $300.00. Considering the fact that I was hacked/scammed on January 12th, $300 might as well be a million dollars. They got me good. But above all, Darcy was respectful to me. She was doing her job and knew that 33 dollars that was told to me was legitimate. Finally, all sides came together and agreed that my responsibility would be $67.00, which I have prepaid. I also do not appreciate the fact that I wasn't told about labs for the first appointment. I was told about labs on the second appointment. I asked another Baptist Rep, which lab was required specifically. Her response told me that she didn't have a clue, because she told me that any labs relevant to a Cardiac MRI. Another Baptist worker told me to plan on having labs drawn the day of the appointment, because many times the labs are included in with the billing. Baptist has not notified my Doctor at Naval Hospital Jax of any labs required. I have ESPN, but not ESP. I really don't have a clue about what is going on. Naval Hospital Jax isn't telling me anything. All that I know is that I received a referral letter from Humana Military for a Heart MRI at Baptist. If I get any grief at all this Wednesday, August 17th, I know that I will not be utilizing Baptist Health for anything. Baptist Health can toot their horns all they want, but I know that I took an Oath during my previous careers, and that the Reps from Baptist Health need to interact with patients the same way.

Desired outcome: If a Rep from Baptist Health doesn't know the answer, find out,. All workers should be respectful to all patients. It wasn't my fault that the referral letter from Humana Military didn't have the correct information on it.

Baptist Health System Administration/Nurse

I was referred to the hospital to get iv infusion for severe anemia. The 1st time I went. No one knew what to do or where to send me. So they

walked me back and fourth to the er to labor and delivery. About 5 times. I waited 4 hrs before (randomly) someone from the orthopedic area of the hospital came to get me and put me In A room. They assisted me with the IV. Nice nurses. But everyone was very confused. That was 1 of 6 treatments I needed. I called the doctor the next morning and I was apologized to, and they set me up with a hospital triage head nurse who handled these types of treatments. Of course I wasn’t told this the first time. Or I would have called prior to make an appointment. So I got my bill a few weeks later and realized they charged me all kinds of fees. So I called the billing department. The person I spoke to said she couldn’t give information about what I was charged for. She was only able to give me the amount I needed to pay. On my statement. I was charged for an IVF fee a room fee and a pulmonary fee. I said IVF?!? She literally told me it was for in-vitro fertilization. I was in shock. She kept telling me she didn’t know what that was. So she literally googled it while I was on the the phone. I told her I would just ask in person on my next treatment. So since no one in billing was able to assist. I went in for my second treatment. That was a set up appointment. I asked a ton of questions. And the woman in administration refused to give me an estimate of services I would be receiving. I asked about 5 times. She said she didn’t know and I had to pay upfront. I asked her I need to know what I’m paying for. She said just for the medication. I asked to give me a statement stating that’s all I will be paying for. She said no I’m not able to give you anything because I just put in a code and it tells me how much you pay. She 1st told me she told me I had to pay $425.00 then she said it was $150.00. Then lastly because I wouldn’t give up on wanting to know what I was paying for she said I’ll just charge you what you paid the first time. which was 71.88. So that is what I paid. Unknowingly what the breakdown was for. I wanted to ask if this is legal? I know I would pay for my services and I was ok with paying. I just wanted a breakdown of what I was paying for. Especially after I was told it was for fertility treatment by the billing department. I took her my bill of my first treatment and she got very loud with me and said are you married? I said yes she said aye I feel sorry for him. I said excuse me! Im asking details on my bill because no only me but a lot of people are struggling financially in this world today. I work hard for my money. She cut me off. Then very loudly stated. I DONT KNOW WHY YOUR DOCTOR CANT DO THIS TREATMENT In HIS OWN OFFICE. Mind you I was on my 3rd treatment that day and I had already paid 3 times the same amount without being given a breakdown of my cost. She refused the two times I went in. Then on the same visit she walked to the back and was there a long time and came back laughing with the nurse who was going to assist me. While walking to the back with her. I didn’t think about anything. It started when I ask how was she doing. I was then ignored. Then I thought maybe she didn’t hear me. Then she very rudely asked me how many more treatments do you have! I said after this one 3 more. I said the appointments are already scheduled for next week. And I mentioned the name of the nurse that helped me make the appointments. She hesitated and said oh that me. I said oh hi nice to meet you. I was agin ignore. That’s when it hit me. And I told myself Please lord don’t let her be ugly with me. Sure enough she was very aggressive towards me. And when she started looking at my arm. I told her in the past all the nurses or phlebotomist like the veins in this arm. Again I was ignored. She stared to wipe the top of my forearm my inserted my IV. Not once has that vine been used in my life. It’s barely even visible.. And sure enough she inserted it. I literally had tears rolling down on my cheeks. It was the worst needle pain I have ever felt. It felt like she pressed so hard gown on it that it was in my bone. I was extremely scared to more it because the very sharpe pain lasted the 3 hrs I was there. Then I was so scared to even make eye contact with her. So I go in again tomorrow for my fourth. The only reason I am continuing to go there is because I called so many other places and the appointments are to far out. My health is affecting my performance at work. If not I would have waited to go elsewhere. I spoke to a family member who is I. The medical field and she advised me to first contact the hospital to make you aware of how bad I was treated. And being refused an estimate or breakdown of my treatment. And administration coming up with her own price to charge me. So that is what I am doing now. I would like those 2 females addressed on the way I was treated

Desired outcome: A true breakdown of the fees I was charged the 1st visit. For my 2 previous, and the 3 remaining. The response I get from this formal complaint determines the next step I will take.

Baptist Health System Nurse magnus

This Nurse came to my house to take care of My Daughter Brittney Warner. She is never allowed at my house ever again. She kicked my elderly dog. And talked about my house decorations. And about our religion and pentagrams. Talked about my coffin coffee table and entertainment center and my skulls. That is NOT what she is here for. I asked her on the ph0ne to wait till Saturday to come out, because we had people coming to look about putting central heat and air in the house. And she came anyways. But that is beside the point. She is NOT here to point out our religion or my house decorations. First thing commented on the still up Christmas stuff outside. Now not that it is any of her business, But I have had pneumonia, and it has been cold and rainy. I shouldn't have to explain myself at all.

Desired outcome: She is never allowed back here again.

Baptist Health System Dr. Donald Goodin

Tomorrow, 2/17/22, would have been the 3rd time to see Dr. Goodin but he has once more canceled and rescheduled the appt. Husband has been waiting 3 months for definitive diagnosis of LGL Leukemia and was supposed to get answers tomorrow and learn treatment. Now we continue to wait. This doctor doesn't seem concerned about his patient's wellbeing. The second appt, 11/17/21, was rescheduled and tried to cancel also but we insisted on seeing him to get the test results. I have been in the room at all times with my 83 yo husband and have helped address questions about symptoms. When I read the Visit Summary after the last visit, many facts stated were somehow just fill in the blanks by the doctor or something. There were several symptoms listed that my husband suffers from but on the summary it was indicated that he didn't present with them. They were never asked about in the visit, I was there and I would have made sure that any questions were answered correctly. Overall care is unsatisfactory.
