No one can fix this now, but maybe writing about it can give me some closure. I inherited a house that I spent my childhood summers in, renting it out until I could retire; that was the plan anyways. Hurricane Michael messed up the roof, so I asked about who's the best to replace it. Everyone from the business end (property management, realty, insurance, etc.) recommended Art, but I'm not in the business, just a regular Joe; senior citizen, civil servant, and retired veteran. I guess the level of quality control is different for us. This reputation was probably deserved before the back-to-back storms. They now were having labor shortages, like everyone else. Apparently, though, they did not follow up with proper training and supervision. Where was the project manager? Then Hurricane Sally flooded the house about six inches. On February 15, a tornado came through and peeled back my roof. More than I could handle and not living down there, I reluctantly sold it to a friend at a loss, to preserve some equity. He called me and said that he had roofers there saying that it looked like the roof wasn't properly torched down when installed. That the remaining parts came up easily, using little force, where still attached. I reported this to Art and the insurance, but I had sold it, and no one seemed interested. I contacted an attorney and found that since I had sold it, the legal fees would surpass any recovery. I felt Art should at least pay the $2500 insurance deductible. He also said that Art has multiple similar cases pending in the Bay County and wondered how they could still be in business; me, too! Please pay a little extra and have someone oversee and/or inspect any major work.

Don't hire this company, they were hired to fix my roof after a pine tree went through it on 7/15. After being delayed for weeks, I called and asked them to start the repair because there were 2 storms in the Gulf. I had already given them a deposit 3 weeks prior. The crew showed up on 8/22 and the project supervisor said he doesn't work on Saturdays. That's not my problem, no one ever calls to let you know when they're coming. Anyway, they started and I asked to be notified at every stage so I could take pictures for the insurance company. I went out every 20 minutes to check the progress and took pictures. But I must have waited longer than 20 minutes because they had already covered up an area that had a hole in a vent pipe for the bathroom fan. I didn't know about it until I received the pictures from Art Construction. When I saw the picture showing the hole, I asked why no one let me know so I could address the problem. Their answer was that it wasn't part of their job, so whoever took the pictures should have seen it. It was obvious. I contacted Ryan Vess, the man who gave me the estimate, and he said it wasn't their job either. But then he said if their supervisor had seen it, he would have put duct tape on it, which would have been fine with me to prevent moisture from escaping into the attic and causing mold. They also charged me for 3,750 roof vents when they only replaced 2. They said someone must have accidentally kicked one. I have before and after pictures of the vents, and vent #3 was never replaced. They couldn't find matching soffit either. So when I asked for a deduction in the remaining balance, they said they don't normally give credits. They want to charge me for something they didn't even buy. On top of all this, it's going to cost me $769.15 to have a hole cut into my bathroom ceiling to fix the air tubing, get a new piece of drywall, and repair the popcorn ceiling. And they don't think they should have to pay for any of it. My advice to anyone reading this is to stay away from this company. Don't let them work on your home because chances are you'll get screwed too. It's really a shame that a local company would take advantage of a customer, especially a senior citizen.

Damagd siding when makin roof repairs. Tried to fix it but it aint right. Lotsa warranty issues. Roof put in Aug 2019. Failed City of Callaway inspection. Contractor didnt tell me till roofin crew showed up in Nov 2019 to fix it. Contractor messed up the siding when puttin in new drip edge flashin. I messaged the company on Facebook bout the damage but no one from Art Construction checked the quality after the second nailin. I checked the roof myself and found 3 broken shingles and bout 3 nails missin, but the workers fixed it. Roof leaked round the fireplace. Took 2 weeks for someone to get back to me. Took 3 or 4 warranty repairs. Repairs done bout June 12. The repair round the chimney is all puckered and lifted. Look at the pic. I asked over and over to talk to the owner but they never contacted me. The owner needs to come see the poor quality at my house. They never offered me any compensation for 1) failin the City inspection cuz they didnt follow the Florida Building Code 2) havin to take time off work when they had to redo the whole roof and 3) the really bad repair they did on the front of my house.

This is my second complaint. There's a new leak in my roof caused by rain blowing under the ridge vent, which only extends 3 inches over the roof. I previously complained about this issue. On 9/16, I texted *** with pictures of the leaking. Unfortunately, I received no response from him. So, I called the office and spoke to the secretary, explaining everything to her. However, even after that, there was still no response. Frustrated, I called the office again on 9/22 and spoke to the secretary once more. She informed me that I needed to sign a waiver to allow them onto my property and wanted to record everything. I agreed, hoping for a resolution. After two weeks of dealing with no response, the owner finally came out with an employee. I had repeatedly asked for this employee not to come to my house, but my request was ignored. As the owner was leaving, he told the employee that he knew how this would go. It's concerning that the person I don't want at my house is the quality control person, especially since I've had them out multiple times for leaks. How good is he at his job? The owner finally texted me this morning, saying that he would send a technician to fix the issue. However, shortly after, I received another text from the owner, ***, requesting that I remove my negative reviews after the work is completed. He emphasized that they are not perfect but would never leave someone with a leak. I didn't respond to his text, so he called me and said that he wouldn't do the work because I refused to remove the negative review. I have repeatedly asked for one of his guys to stay off my property, referring to the quality control guy. This is the same person who didn't order enough materials and didn't bother to knock on my door or wear anything to identify himself as an employee of the company. He even called me a liar. It's important to note that I sit only 3 feet away from my front door.
