Terrible customer service
Morton built my commercial building. The paint is flaking under warranty limitations. I have contacted Morton over their paint warranty with no success. Initially, a representative (John Ryan, Sales Westfield, Massachusetts office) assessed the paint problem and claimed they would remedy the issue. After not hearing back from any representative after six months from time of assessment, I finally spoke to Carol and Keith (Manager) both of the Westfield, Massachusetts office who seemed genuinely concerned that no action or resolution had occurred. But here I am, ANTOHER six months later with NO follow up or resolution from Morton. While this issue is small in comparison to other complaints I can't foresee them resolving larger issues if they can't address something this small. They do not return calls!
In addition, when under construction dozens of metal panels were left outside and became muddy and dirty and they installed them (interior of building) in this condition! In reading other's complaints, I see there seems to be a pattern with problems and their inability to resolve them. Naturally, problems can certainly occur with any type of construction, however this company doesn't appear to work with their customers to resolve them! I STRONGLY DO NOT recommend doing business with Morton Buildings due to their lack of quality work and customer service.
Very poor customer service
We only need 3 sheets of steel to repair a barn Morton built for us in 1994. At that time their service and quality was excellent. But now, we have been trying to work with Morton since the middle of July. No one will answer the phone, and they will not respond to messages to return calls. After 3 months we finally got an order placed, but it has taken another 2 months to actually come in to the warehouse where we have to pick it up an hour and a half from us.
Very poor service!

I’ve had my Morton building for around 8 years and the roof has leaked since day one. They have come out to try and fix it several times but still leaks.. Rain blows in at the top of the sliding door on the front and the Rep. told me that’s the way they are and nothing they can do about that. Now the warranty is gone I have to pay someone out of my pocket to fix it right since Morton wouldn’t….. thanks Rob in Murfreesboro,Tn for the lies and screwing
Desired outcome: My roof not to leak and for rain not to blow in around the door

quality and service
I am taking care of my Aunt and putting up a building with half of it living quarters. She sold her house in Nevada and we were told that we were on the calendar to start in Dec 2020. The project didn't start until April and still is not finished. I had to put my aunt into a apartment which cost us more money then expected. Our sales guy and foreman have not done well in communication and at this time we are waiting for gutters that they said was delivered to a different job site but they are not there and now we are waiting to hear back from the factory for a response. I have concrete that will be poured and a boulder wall going up and need the gutters on so the contractor can put in the drainage tiles. What should have taken no more than 3 weeks to put up a shell has taken almost 2 months and that's not including the delays in starting the projects. I would like to speak to someone about this and not the district manager or the sales person. This has cost us more money and a lot of frustrations. I have been lied to, treated like I don't know what I am doing or talking about and feel like due to me being a women, our project has been put on the back burner.
My name is Jamie Hiebert and I can be reached at [protected]. If I don't answer leave a message and I will get right back to you.
Thank you,
Desired outcome: Get every thing done and a discount on the building for the trouble we have been thru.
Roof installation and weather stripping
I purchased my Morton building in 2006. Growing up around Morton buildings and after researching other types of buildings, I felt Morton was a superior building. I thought construction of the building went great. The first 12 years of ownership were without any problems. I then noticed my roof was leaking. I figured it would not be a big deal as I would just climb up on the roof and tighten the screws ( I assumed Morton would install the roof panels the same as the wall panels using screws). I was completely surprised to find they had installed the roof panels with ring shank nails! There is no easy way to remove ring shank nails without damaging the roof panel! I was able to set a few of the nails a little deeper. That appears to have slowed the leak down. Now my door weather stripping is in need of replacement. I cannot get anyone from Morton to help me purchase new weather stripping. I have called all THREE offices in Missouri (over an 8 month time span) and no one will call me back! If I would have known this is how Morton treats their customers after the sale, I would have purchased a building from a different company. Needless to say, I used to brag about my building to friends/family/neighbors who were considering putting up a building themselves. I definitely no longer recommend Morton!
barn build
I expected their premium price to buy me a professional experience. Not the case. Once they had a signed contract and a deposit, all customer service went out the door. A promise to get a building permit resulted in a lie stating "your county told me no permit is required". That was a blatant lie. My sales rep dropped the plans by my house "in case I might need them". That resulted in me having to do what he had promised to do and get the permit myself. Without any inclement weather in months, my start date is now six weeks delayed without as much as a phone call or e-mail. My only notification is their lack of presence on the job site. Buyer beware!
We bought land and made a great plan with Jay at Morton Buildings/Kaukauna, WI in the fall of 2020. We toured a home they were building and were very impressed and excited to get going. We asked Jay when we'd get a contract as we were planning to build in spring 2021, but he never brought it. Super friendly, really nice guy, but Jay came over in March and said that Morton was shelving their small builds and only doing their big jobs. Big slap in the face after being promised something for 5 months. We haven't been able to find a builder since that we can afford. We found one that after 8 months of planning, came in $200,000 over budget. It's ridiculous trying to build today. If Morton had kept their schedule and their promise to us, we would've been in our house for over a year. Now we're dealing with over double interest rates and runaway inflation. How about it Morton, will you make good on a project you dumped, leaving us hanging? Your company is based in a small town, hopefully wanting to protect your reputation. Word gets around and so do bad opinions. Change our opinion, keep your word and give us a call.
we are having the same exact problem we are supposed to build in a few weeks and still no plans we sent the deposit 6 months ago.
100K Ag Barn
My barn is now 3 months late. It has been one lie after another. They put the dirt pad and cement floor and then delivered the barn in pieces which took up the entire entrance to the farm. Port o Potty and dumpster as well. Really lovely around the holidays. At first I was told they were running behind and it would go up two weeks late. I went along. That would have been Thanksgiving week. Then I was told due to weather it would be Christmas week. I went along. I now know they were building other peoples barns, They showed up that Monday only to tell me that the main uprights were built wrong so they were not coming back until "After the first of the year". That is when I started complaining. As soon as I mentioned damages my salesman bolted and some guy named "Elmer" from the local office actually tried to convince me I caused this! (An aside.. I am a widow having just lost my husband 15 months ago). While everyone needs a barn for their own reason in my case it was even more so as I am left with a farm in my loss and a barn over this winter would really have eased my life. My complaining got the job started and they showed up just after Christmas and worked through the weekends. BUT yesterday they realized they had the wrong color steel ordered for the eyebrow on the building. They actually told the sub contractor (Great guy) to put it up anyway! I did not approve this so now it will be another two week delay. Truly this barn which is unfinished on the inside and I STILL have to put in the electric, demising walls, plumbing etc. Will not be finished until spring! I have been treated like a dumb woman even by the "Customer Service" team at the corporate offices. No surprise when today I spoke to the "Head of Customer Service" David Balkeman. He just said OK, OK to my complaints, offering no solution, and claiming he could not do anything it was up to the LOCAL office! I have been reduced to screaming. They do not care. There are no ethics here. I knew he was just telling me a story and I am VERY persistent. I finally spoke with Lola Olson who is the executive admin for John Russell CEO of Morton Buildings, Inc. I am currently waiting for a call from John. I have spent untold hours of my time away from working and my life dealing with this. Isn't that why you buy a prefab barn so you DON'T have to be managing every inch of the project? Today I also discovered they are going through a "Transition" at CEO level. Which may explain why the inmates are running the asylum. My advice is threefold: -MARK UP THEIR CONTRACT! READ IT VERY CAREFULLY. -MAKE THEM OPEN EVERY PIECE THEY DELIVER TO THE JOB SITE AND DO NOT LET THEM DELIVER UNTIL YOU HAVE A WRITTEN START DATE and FINISH DATE with DAMAGES DELINEATED. -I PAID IN FULL WHEN THE BUILDING WAS DELIVERED. DO NOT DO THIS! ! HOLD AT LEAST 1/3 back until FULL COMPLETION and FINAL OCCUPANCY is SIGNED BY YOUR COUNTY/CITY. I hope this saves you some pain
Unsatisfied Consumers
I worked for Morton Buildings for 25 years. I was fired 4 years ago. I can still say, they were and still are the most customer satifactory generated company out there. They care about giving every single customer their full moneys worth and then some. As far as the guy talking trash about overage fund, that is a laugh and the salesmen getting it is not and never was true. I have seen the company Go miles past a warranty that was expired. They strive for perfection. If anyone was unsatisfied it was probably somewhat how they apporached the situation. If you have a lagitimate complaint and can be spoken to without acting like a madman they would carry it to the end to do the right thing, however, no company can deal with a madman that is not looking for solutions. Any company is going to have some minor problems with comunication, from salesmen or crews making mistakes. But that is what they are "mistakes" they will admit them and fix them if allowed to. Their intent is Good, they are not liars and theives. Far from it. If anyone had an axe to grind with them it would be me, but i have to tell it like it is.
Morton Buildings - Morton Buildings are a bunch of Lying Thieves
This company is shrewd and deceptive. Their contract is short and simple...at least that's what you think when you sign it. They are NEVER at fault. They have built into YOUR Contract an Overages Fund...it amounts to approx. 10 % of your building. You PAID for that. When a Problem arises, 1st they twist it and blame you, and try to charge you again to fix...
