I am extremely disappointed with my experience with American Modern Insurance Group.
I submitted a claim on December 18th after a tree fell against my outbuilding, causing significant damage to the roof. To prevent further damage to the structure, I had the tree removed immediately. Shortly thereafter, American Modern sent a $5,000 check without first reviewing the invoices and repair estimates I had submitted.
When I logged into their claim's portal, I discovered the claim had already been closed following issuance of the $5,000 payment. I have not cashed the check because it does not cover the full cost of repairs, and I did not want to imply that I agreed with their assessment or settlement amount.
We are now approaching March, and despite numerous emails requesting updates, I have received no meaningful response or communication to resolve the matter. Meanwhile, the tree removal company is contacting me for payment for the work they completed, putting my wife and me in a stressful and uncertain position. We are now concerned about the possibility of a lien being placed on our home while we wait for the insurance company to address the claim properly.
This has been a long, drawn-out process with very poor communication. As homeowners, we expect our insurance provider to support us during unexpected events—not leave us chasing answers and worrying about financial consequences. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience.
I sincerely hope American Modern improves its claims communication and resolution process so other customers do not have to go through what we are experiencing.
