American Home Shield [AHS] review: air conditioner

Our air conditioner caught on fire 6/4/2018 guy came out on 6/8/2018 told us the unit was beyond repair. On 6/11/2018 they told me my out of pocket expenses to replace unit would be $1, 065 ($450 for refrigerant and $615 for modifications, which include electric, plumbing, ductwork and line set. What? So we then asked them for a payout price so that we could update to a unit that no longer used r22 freon. We waited and waited, with temperatures in the house at 87 degrees now, they finally returned our call on 6/19/2018 with an amount of $615.00... How could we possibly get a new unit for that! We went around and around with them but had to eventually install the unit of their choice because the heat was unbearable. So on completion of unit 6/22/2018 we ended up paying $915.00, $150 less because no ductwork was needed. However on 6/25/2018 we saw a news article on kmov about same incident with another customer and ahs to which ahs reimbursed this customer all modification costs because they reached an agreement that it was part of the new air conditioner installation costs. I would like to have my $650 reimbursed as well... Waiting to hear from you. Also, sending a complaint to the missouri department of insurance if I don't hear anything within a few days. I think it is so wrong that we do not get to pick out our new air conditioning system as long as it was within the range of comparison…. It's is so wrong that they do this. Please help!
