on or about June 14th, 2026, a water supply line to a commode in an upstairs bathroom, blew off and flooded the bathroom, an adjoining walk-in closet, part of the bedroom floor, and went through the floor and into the ceiling into a downstairs bathroom and bedroom.
A claim was filed, a water cleanup company was out here with fans and dehumidifiers, fairly quickly. Asbestos testing showed there was some asbestos in the ceiling sheetrock. EcoSafe, the company who is to do the abatement, submitted their estimate, and now American Family Insurance is sending the estimate to a 3rd party vendor for review. Doesn't that just push the cost up, and delay restoration for the homeowner? Do we need to secure alternate housing, if American Family is going to play around with our home life?
Desired outcome: I would like a response indicating why American Family cannot decide on and estimate themselves, and feel the need to bring in a 3rd party vendor to review the estimate?
