I am extremely dissatisfied with the way this situation has been handled.

I purchased a freezer with a reversible door. The salesperson never asked which direction I wanted the door to open. When it was delivered on the wrong side, the delivery person refused to reverse it because he said he was "too busy."

The manufacturer's instruction manual specifically provides instructions for reversing the door, so I followed those instructions. After plugging in the freezer, I discovered that the door was not sealing properly.

CSA is now refusing to replace the freezer because they claim that I "modified" the appliance. This explanation is completely unacceptable. How can reversing a door according to the manufacturer's own instructions be considered an improper modification?

Maytag has also advised me that I would have to pay for a technician to come and repair a freezer that is brand new.

The customer should not be responsible for the consequences of poor service at the time of sale and delivery. Had the salesperson asked the appropriate question, or had the delivery person agreed to reverse the door, this situation could potentially have been avoided.

I am asking CSA and Maytag to take responsibility and resolve this issue at no cost to me, whether by repairing the freezer properly or replacing it. Charging the customer for a service call under these circumstances is simply not acceptable.
