Agoda review: Account deletion failed
Agoda – scammers? Deleting my account has turned into a nightmare.
I decided to delete my Agoda account and stop using the service. I simply prefer Booking.com. Yes, they belong to the same parent company, but they are different platforms.
I find Agoda's website and app overloaded with information, endless special offers and discounts that are nothing but marketing tricks. On top of that, both the website and the app constantly freeze, making the whole experience even more frustrating.
My account was linked to my Google ID. I followed the account deletion procedure, completed the OTP verification and pressed the button labelled “CLOSE”. Instead of deleting my account, the process simply returned me to my active account.
I tried again. And again. And again. Nothing changed.
I contacted customer support several times. I received meaningless, generic replies and was repeatedly asked to provide additional information and complete more forms. Despite all these attempts, the problem remains unresolved.
I have saved screenshots of all correspondence with Agoda support as evidence of my repeated attempts to resolve this issue.
My account is still active, and I still can't delete it.
Agoda's account deletion process is a textbook example of DARK PATTERNS: the company makes it easy to sign up but puts unnecessary obstacles in the way when customers try to leave. This is manipulative and unacceptable.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems when trying to delete their Agoda account? I'd be interested to hear whether anyone has actually managed to do it without going through this endless hassle.
Desired outcome: Simply deleted account, not that much.
