Affordable Dentures & Implants / Affordable Care review: Dentures are useless
I went in for a bottom denture. On my first visit they done X-rays and impressions. While doing the impression I told them it was very painful. I was not able to bite down completely. When they looked to see why it was so painful they mentioned “tori”. I did not know what tori was. I only knew that I had bone sticking out in a couple different places. There was no mention of the tori possibly causing issues once I got my dentures.
When I got my dentures I was not able to wear them because there was a tremendous amount of excessive material digging in to the inside of my mouth (under my tongue). I was told to try them anyway for a while that maybe I would get use to them. (I wish I had that one to do over. No one could have possibly worn that plate.)So I went back & they shaved off the excess. However it was still very painful because of the tori.
The dentist actually recommended having the tori cut out! Really? So why didn’t someone tell me that the tori may cause issues on my first visit? And of course I would have to pay over $500 to have the tori cut out. No thanks. I went back a couple more times to have them shave off more to try & relieve the pain from it hitting the tori.
Finally I could wear them without pain. I was so excited. Unfortunately my excitement didn’t last long. No matter what I ate, they would come out. I couldn’t even eat yogurt. I drank a Mountain Dew and they came out. And yes, I was using denture adhesive. Wow, what a disappointment. So I go back in and I was told there is nothing they can do. I asked to have a new one made. He said it wouldn’t make any difference. So I am stuck with dentures that I can wear, as long as I don’t eat with them. What a joke.
Recommendation: Beware
