credit card overcharging
Company failed to honor clearly advertised discount offer.
Company submitted unauthorized overcharge to credit card company. Customer service blames customer for "confusion" and refused to promptly credit overcharge. Subsequent research indicates numerous consumers with same complaint. Beware of deceptive business practices of this company.
I will never work with advance auto parts again
I went in as soon as the store opened to get an early start on my repairs and purchased a universal joint for my vehicle. After disassemble found the u-joint was incorrect, returned it for the ‘right’ u-joint even had to run to another store. Got back to install the ‘correct’ part it Also was Wrong. Went to O’Reilly auto parts, they got it right the first time. Went back to Advance Auto and they refunded my money but didn’t compensate for my extensive waste of time, gas and patients. They stated there books could not reference the part, so instead of telling me that First thing in the morning they randomly handed me parts hoping one would fit. I will NEVER work with Advance Auto Parts Again!
did not recieve item/bad conflict resolution
I bought a Optima yellow top battery from them two weeks ago and have not received it. UPS claims that they delivered it but they did not. I sent an email to Advance Auto parts customer service and their only reply was that the UPS tracking number says that it was delivered. I have since escalated the claim to Paypal and hope to get my money back. Here is the point. If a customer says they did not receive their item, then you should respectfully believe them and send out another part. This is part of the service in 'customer service'. Never argue with the customer and just fix the problem promptly. It may cost extra money but that is where you file a claim with the delivery service you choose to work with as a business decision. In the long run, the expense to replace the product pays off because then you receive repeat business and good word of mouth marketing. I have had such a problem before but the company I dealt with, quickly refunded my money, no questions asked. I tell everyone I know to buy from that company because I know they have good customer complaint resolution services.
bad experience
I went into Advance Auto Parts two days ago. I purchased oil and one of the service assistants put it in the car. He did not put the oil cap back on. I drove two hours home. When I got home, my husband popped the hood because he smelled something. Oil everywhere! We have been dealing with them and trying to get them to take responsibility for the damage done to my car. These people don’t stand behind their work and don’t care about their customers! This is the worst Advance Auto Parts I have ever been to and is bad enough to scare me away from the company forever.
Advanced Auto parts sucks. Leaving the oil cap off is incompatant...
never touch a customer car for this reason. Blame ! Parts sales Not service!
OMG! LEARN HOW TO FILL YOUR OWN DA#N FLUIDS! or don't drive! You, lady are the reason people are so hesitant about HELPING others! They didn't have to fill that oil for you! They don't have "service assistants" you are ungrateful and rididulous!
service
I went in Advance Auto Parts in Trenton, Ga. this morning...there was NOT another customer in the store. There were at least 5 workers behind the counter...putting up stock. I waited for about 5 or 10 minutes...NOT ONE worker even came to the counter to help me. Finally one came toward the front and said, I'll be right back...he picked up some more parts, went toward the back of the store and DID NOT come back...I walked out and will NEVER go in that store again. There is something BAD WRONG when you can't even get service.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
That is pretty sucky when that happens. Did you contact customer service about this issue? You may want to do that since the store will probably be having more issues and more people might go through the same thing you went through if managment is not aware of what is happening in their stores. I like adavce auto parts becase they hardly ever give me any issues with returning products.
terrible manager
Have had numerous dealings with bad manager at the clayton, ga store. Refusing to warranty items with lifetime warranty. Had incident with manager man handling my minor son, got kicked out of store, was a commercial customer that spent over 30k per year. Not the only customer to have had problems with this particular manager. Made a police report on the abuse of a minor. Called the corporate office. And guess what, no one ever called me back to even talk to me. Now the manager is trying to sabotage my son's work place and get him fired. What is the deal with this manager and my minor son? This is literally the million dollar question, corporate should care. Would you not think? If mcdonalds can be sued for serving too hot of coffee, why not advanced with a manager that has an obsession with a minor child? You would think the corporate office would at least afford us a return phone call. Any attorneys out there reading this call me at [protected]. All I ever wanting to do is do business with our local store without any hassles. Now, no one, can buy anything at this local store and use my corporate account. I now do business with auto zone in clarkesville, ga. And can not say enough about the customer service that they give me. They are courteous, polite and helpful. Definetly an "a1" company. I sincerely hope that no one else has had this problem with management at the advanced auto parts stores. The corporate office should realize that these bad managers are making a bad name for the company and putting them at risks.

not qualified to install battery
Went in advance auto parts a couple of weeks ago and purchased there silver brand battery around 75.00 dollars.I knew the guy who looked up battery for me on their computer for model type for my truck. After i purchased battery i asked him to install it for me[my truck].They do this for you when you buy a battery from them.Anyways the guy goes and starts taking mine old battery out and puts in new one and hooks the new one backwards [neg to pos ][pos to neg].my wires start smoking by the battery. He switched them back correctly but to late.Nothing worked in my truck.End up having to call wife to come and get me.They sent my truck to a lame repair shop the next day.Totally fired almost every thing in my truck. The shop mechanic done very sorry work on it and tried to give back to me with nothing working on the inside of my truck at all.gauge cluster, radio, cruise control etc.I ended up having to take it my self to the dealer ship for repairs. They are paying for all the repairs[Advance auto parts insurance].BOTTOM LINE THEY NEED QUALIFIED PEOPLE TO INSTALL A BATTERY.COMMON SENSE 101.HOW HARD COULD IT BE.BEWARE IF THEY DO THIS FOR YOU!

yea and if you dont meet your ignite sph goals u get put under a performance improvement plan and if ur sales dont go up they get rid of you ive worked at this place for 6 years and this is the first year they started enforcing this bs all i can say is when they get rid of all the good knowledgeable ppl stores will be going out of business i dont recommend anyone to work there...
there commercials show just how much they care about you. at one time selling autoparts was respected and one of the lowest jobs was flipping burgers but i think advance and the zone have that beat .all the micro managed bull low pay horrible hours and no respect from the company or customers.during the holiday season we didn't receive so much as a card from corporate but some our commercial accounts sent us popcorn tins candy cards ect. i have seen this company manufacture reasons to fire people like changing schedules behind employees backs or hounding gms with nitpicking mystery shoppers mystery callers and when these gms step down or quit bring in someone from outside of the company to break up that existing team so they can bring in part timers that will keep the minimum wage revolving door going.
an employee for 4 years, this place is a complete joke. Incompetent store level management followed up by completely lost district management straight to the top= no clue darren jackson. Ever since this [censored] took over the company, it has been a steady downhill slope . the ignite and CDL system is just absolute trash, no more than two employees working at peak hours and no more than 210 hours a week for a store. Although there is some quality people still working for this company, there still is ignorant people who do not know there face from their ###. The check engine scans are a waste of time and labor. to think that a $200 code scanner is going to diagnose your car is absurd. Advance has done everything to themselves, the batteries are absolute crap as is almost anything stocked in the store except for the name branded parts.
now advance has daily sales goals for employees under the ignite banner. measuring productivity which basically force feeding customers anything to increase your sale numbers and their bottom line.i See it coming a points system. i am totally disgusted with advance no advancment more time consuming bull like asking for email address drink counting before u can finish a transaction. hell i came to advance with 20 yr as key carrier at other autoparts stores was a part mgr asst store mgr and latter a store mgr i set up two of the biggest commercial account in my area when i worked for nappa. and for two yrs just a counter guy.at advance even showing some of the younger mgrs things i came in the door knowing. cant wait to break this auto parts cycle and soon,
CDL this is te biggest FARCE as of yet.
You talk of getting rid of someone There was an RPP that took about a year to send out the door. had 37 write ups for Smoking in the doorway, swearing at the customers, porn on iPhone displayed to customers and fellow Team Members, showing up late, and drunk / drinking on the job. The reason? He had high sales numbers.
There were customers that had Ethics point on "speed dial".
He once told a customer while pointing at his ASE Parts Pro patch "This means I am smarter than you." The customer wanted a One Wire GM style Alternator for his boat. That is all. Went to a NAPA Store and got what he wanted.
For anyone else If you have your batt changed at Advance MAKE SURE they connect the OBDII to a jump pack so you don't have problems. GM cars have a code system in place which will disable your Auto. same with Honda's, VW, BMW, Audi, Mercedes if it is not done properly your car MAY end up at the dealership, just make sure your attorney notifies Advance they will be paying the bill to make right again.
Also Note: You can install R134 in your own car...and that is OK. BUT! the Advance and Zoners can not do this for you. Why? You must be Licenced to install R134 on a customers car. And it is a Federal Law that anyone cannot clear OBDII codes on an auto they do not own.
O'Reilly's does not install Batts, wipers, lamps.
absolutely right! just like these stupid in store test designed to teach the employee how to suggestive sell a whole boat load of crap that t the customer doesn't need so they can bring it all back at a later date. installing batteries and
obd testing should not be happening. and also amazing is that people with years of key holder experience in retail auto parts are relegated to red shirt status( counter person) and nimrods from family dollar are given management positions over veteran and experienced parts people. the company does not actively recruit from with in for promotions and they constantly hire upper management from outside the company. there are no set policies so if they want to fire you they have one all encompassing catch all GAVE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! advance auto-zone operate with in the gaps of the customers perception you must know about cars because you sell parts. call a parts store to diagnose your car over the phone and not take it to the shop.
Just remember one thing - The 2 clowns running the Advance Circus are the same 2 clowns that screwed up Best Buy, When they took over at Advance, 2008, the morale went to hell and they get these multi million dollar bonus' ever year, 2 years ago they cut everyone's wages and they got the bonus packages. They cut the Cust Contact Center and shipped those jobs to India. They eliminated the trucking and farmed that out. It is so bad my prediction is IF the economy picks up and jobs open up - Advance will be a Ghost town, because everyone now starts at minimum wage. In reality their are a lot of the FULL TIME workers that have been mechanics and got out for medical reasons and auto parts are the only thing they know. Best Bet... Shop at a NON corporate owned/run stores, like Bumper to Bumper, Car-quest, NAPA, Auto Value anything owned by a real person.
Advance has turned into a joke. You apply and some company decides with the special tests that you are A OK. and when they show up most couldn't find their as$$ with a road map.
Free OBDII scan is for selling parts, nothing more. And you can change parts until you own the company - BUT until you get it diagnosed by a real Mechanic you are burning cash. The ASE Parts Pro is nothing more than a certification that says they can sell you parts more accurately than the next guy with out it.
One otheir thing the more info and or certificates you get as requested by Advance...pay does not increase.
The biggest scam is that the company allows the customer to ASSUME that the cashiers are in fact qualified to do auto work knowing full well they are not. So headquarters is perpetrating a fraud regarding qualifications of cashiers to do any mechanic work whatsoever and they should be held 100% liable for all potential damages. No adverse actions should fall upon the cashiers because they should not be forced to do work that they have no training or qualifications for in the first place. In fact, if the cashiers are injured under the hood of cars, the company should also be held 100 % responsible because they are being forced to do jobs they have no training to accomplish
there are NO MECHANICS at advance auto. Everyone in the store is basically hired as a cashier sales clerk period. Forcing cashiers to work on cars is basically the company PIMPING folk. When they have to pay out for repairs like that they are getting what is deserved because they are forcing cashiers with no mechanic training to do repairs om cars
Head quarters should not allow cashiers to install batteries.
delivery, billing and service
I received an offer for $35 off an order of $85 or more for online orders only. Selected the parts I wanted from the web and checked to see what stores in my area were reporting inventory. Called the two stores that reported stock and verified that they did have the parts as I wanted to pick them up at both stores on 7/25. 20 minutes after completing my order Jess (Store 1229) called me and informed me that the parts that she assured me were in stock, were not, could not offer my money back for 5-7 days and let me know that I had to wait till the following business day to get my parts. Went to the second store that also verified to have my parts in stock and when I arrived was told that they could not complete my order and offered for me to pick up the rest of my order the following day at store 1229. On 7/26 I went to pick up the rest of my order and waited there for 1hr 30min for them to force me to take lesser brand parts and pay for them at less of a discount then was offered online. Still have not received a refund for the original order that they could not fill but I have been charged for the parts I was forced to take. When I asked the manager (Angel) for the corporate number to call and complain, he gave me a bad number, when I called the store on 7/27 to get the correct number Jess answered again and gave me a 2nd bad number. Called the customer service number and registered a complaint with them and also spoke to Zack (manager for store 1229) and registered a complaint with him
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I work for advance and I can tell you we do have computer errors showing us we have parts that we do not in fact have on our shelves. Also if it is a Wednesday we could have it in the store because it just came in our shipment and we have not yet moved it to the floor. These shipments are usually big and take us time between helping customers and the other things we are required to do. Perhaps it is the store in particular with which you are dealing with the store I am at has a wonderful management team who have admitted to making mistakes (we are human after all) and have done everything in their power to correct errors. I am not ashamed to say if I don't know the answer someone in my store probably does. I will not answer unless I am sure and sometimes I will double check to make sure.
Oh, and as for complaints about our parts... Well any company can get a bad product. Yes that includes NAPA, Autozone, O'Reilly, etc... Sometimes a part is made poorly or whatever and that is beyond our control. I have gotten parts from some of those other retailers paid more and still gotten a crappy part... I personally will recommend parts specifically because they have a warranty... I try not to recommend ones (particularly batteries) without a warranty. Isn't it worth a few more dollars for a battery with a warranty?
Oh well, what do I know I am just a driver.
poor customer service
I am making this complaint due to the extremely poor service I received at the Advanced Auto Parts on Memorial Drive and Moreland Ave. near my house in Atlanta, GA. I had ordered a harmonic balancer about a week prior to the store visit, paid, and was told it would be delivered to the shop in 1 day. I went out of town for a few days, so I wasn't able to...

I was in there shopping about three weeks ago, it was a Tuesday afternoon when I was in there shopping looking for parts for my vehicle. I had witnessed an altercation between some associates at this store. A man proceeded to push a cart full of merchandise in to a young lady while she proceeded to stop the man. They went into the back room.Where I had heard something fall. I am not sure what happened after this but the lady was told to calm down outside. If this is a company that allows altercations like this I will no longer shop with your company.

The manager chester gordon is the rudes person any business can have he has no respect for the costumers he realy make you feel you are so stupid when you ask for a part that you order over the phone. I would like some one to call me and tell me why he is so rude and descriminet latins too. My name is guillermo my number is [protected]
Please do not go to that store he is realy rude and you will see.
It is 03 / 02 / 2011 11:45am and i just left the advance auto parts store on the gautier - vancleave rd in gautier ms. I went in to purchase some motor oil. I made my selection and went up to the counter to pay. There was a woman assisting a customer at one of the consoles. I have no issue with that. However, there were two others in and out of the stacks behind the register who apparently ignored the fact that there was a customer up front. While i was waiting another customer walked in and was obviously walking the isles unable to find what he was looking for. Finally the woman called to the back for some counter help. When the man she called answered the phone and began helping that customer before ringing me up, i left my intended purchases on the counter and exited. If they didn't need this purchase then they don't need any further purchases from me.
Bought a rebuilt crate motor from advance. Spartin engine from texas sole builder for advance (Built in mexico) . Anyway fired up engine lifters taped from day one, changed break in oil at 300 miles, magnet on oil plug had a inch of metal shavings on end, drove another 400 miles head started leaking. Called advance warrenty they wanted me to replace what was wrong myself, their resonce for lifter noise was to adjust note on a 4. 3 you tourqe to spec not adjust like old days, spartin tech ask if i readjusted them to says a lot for their techs. I felt that i should'nt have to work on a engine with less than 800 miles on it! I removed engine, they did send replacement. Checked tourqe of heads and lifters before installing 2 head bolts were loose as well as 1 lifter was not to tourqe. Got results today from builder they said its my fault that engine had metal in lifters, in main bearings bad enough that they were scuffed and water leaks were from my accessories installed. I had flushed all oil cooler lines before install. They claim it was the cooler that contaminated the motor (###) the advance tech said almost every engine they warrenty is result of installer not builder. I've probably redone / rebuilt over 50 engines in my time, done several drag engine, all they talk to you as your an idiot or ###ed. So their 3 year unlimited milage warrenty dos'nt stand good for much will only replace / repair or refund once then your screwed. Will never step foot in a advance store again, , buyer beware

Consumer's Original Complaint :
Failure to honor warranty
I paid for a engine Jan 2013 with warranty for my 92 toyota tercel (T012847 serial)so I'd have a reliable car. First problem all parts were not with engine as promised so I had to purchase them. After install the engine smoked very badly I had installer to see what problem was exactly due to he stated something about compression wasn't right on engine so he checked while I was there and # 1 wasn't as it should. I called company they sent another on. I did in email state for them to RECORD their inspection they did not the took photo's. EMAIL: I was informed that the engine was picked up on 2/20/2013. I had left message and instructed John of Warranty Dept to call me upon pick-up of engine no one did. I also left message that every step prior to taking thing off the returned engine is to be recorded which stating facts of findings to ensure fairness on both the company and mechanics' part. I still have not received my warranty as of yet as was promised to me I asked Bobby Steelman mechanic and owner of Afterhours Auto if it came with the engine he stated no. I was informed last week that one would be sent to me I've not received it as of date. Please see the following. The antifreeze 50/50 was returned and I got full strenght antifreeze in it's place. I also bought a new PVC valve which was not on the note Mr. Steelman signed. Any questions please call and keep me posted on the status of this issue from here on out I ask that all contact be made to me only as Mr. Steelmans' (Afterhours Auto) job is done thus no longer concerning him. The charges on invoice also include compression check, re-cleaning of oil pan which is not in total he forgot and put add beside it without total over it should be $703.25. This DOES NOT INCLUDE what I had paid for that had to be replaced. Only 1 of the Castrol motor oil I gave to
Mr. Steelman To sum this up I've had to put far more money into this engine pay for repairs/parts etc. I did what they ask me to to try to resolve the matter and the problem still exist. Russell Shiba said he was going to have someone inspect my engine and whatever the outcome that's what they would do. They paid a shop of my choice Jessie Smith Garage to use his shop so inspector could inspect my car, the inspector came took photos and video his recommendations: REPLACE ENGINE. They did not they sent me to Barts Auto. Richie Pointer agree last year in approx. November to refund me my money if after Barts auto couldn't fix problem which he did not that he give me full refund.I came upon personal problem and hardship I could not contact him til 12/2014 for him to honor his word he refuses and now being given yet more run arounds.
Consumer's Desired Resolution:
Due to the extreme stress, extra money, and time I've put into this matter being far more patient than I should have been I would like for them to pay to have engine removed out my car, replace the engine (they pay for re-install of new engine)reimburse me for having to pay Afterhours Auto to put the second engine in, reimburse for new distribtor which I did not need due to leak even after putting new one on still leaks, or settle paying me $5, 000

application, installed properly and sealing. Intake valve guide clearance
is at .0015". Exhaust valve guide clearance is at .002". Engine was SIM

CONCLUSION:
Cannot confirm customers complaint. This unit is correctly built and all
components are within factory spec. No factory defects were found. Claim
is denied. Still getting the run around nowhere in notes do they have the report of the inspector THEY paid to come check my car why? Because he recommended the engine be REPLACED
Here's one even better. Bought a Spartan 5.7L engine from advance here in St Augustine Fl. First 10 minutes of running, heard a clank, clank then sounds of a rod knock. Has great oil pressure but if you rev the engine to 1500rpm sounds like all the valves are floating. Call Advance, they pawn me off to Spartan engine tech support. He says hmm check to see what cylinder is missing and get back to them. Check out and seems like cyl. 2 or 4 have issues. Check compression and cylinder 1 has 70lbs. Call tech line back, he says okay we will send you a new engine. He calls me back 2 hrs later and says we need to send our guy out the see the issue first. Guy comes a few days later, takes pictures of hitch and tires listens to the engine and leaves. I call tech support 3 days later cause I hadn't heard from them and he says his guy thinks maybe an injector is bad causing the low compression. HAHAHA I had to laugh at that. I said no way, it has a knock in the engine, the valves seen like they are floating and it runs like crap with 0 miles on it. But I will ck injectors for him. Checked injectors and they are good when I command them on and off with my Tech2. So I got to thinking and decided to ck valves. NOT 1 but all of them were over tighten. Back them off to proper adjustment, engine runs fine.Test drove it for roughly 40 miles and gave it to customer to drive over the weekend, " per Spartan tech advice ". He brings it back Monday and in less then 100 miles, burns over 2 qts of oil, uses 1 gal coolant. Engine knocking again and running like crap. Check compression and every cylinder has 210 to 225lbs except cylinder 4 which has 75lbs. Call tech support and now he wants pictures of intake ports on heads and intake. Approaching a month and still waiting to see what the outcome will be. I have mass experience in engines and repairs over the last 30 years. This engine was junk in the first 10 minutes and at there request I have over 20 hrs chasing a dead dog. Instead of wasting mine and my customers time, they need to make things right. However, from these blogs and the way their tech is talking, I'm very confident that my customer is fixing to get the shaft ! And not to happy the way Advance was quick to pawn me off. I bought the engine from them...Not Spartan
Bought a 3.4 V6 Spartan Reman from Advance Auto Parts in Tega Cay, SC. Great people, I do not hold them responsible for what Spartan calls a rebuilt engine. It idled for 2 hours then jumped time. I was told this was a hot run motor and was ready to drop and run. Probably because that is what Spartan told the people at Advance Auto Parts. It is at the dealership now getting a new 3.4 V6 Goodwrench engine put in now. $3, 000 up the pipe for a piece of crap. Now I am spending another $6, 000 to have everything I have already done done again.
You people should be run out of business.
I'd seriously think about getting my money back. Really this isn't worth your time or money to pursue. I as a company would not be a representative for Spartan Engines. I'm working with the Advance Auto Parts store to get a replacement engine. Of course it will be another Spartan Engine. I'm not happy about that, at all. Will get the replacement engine at no cost, but the customer has to pay labor to replace it. There is a shop in our town that replaced a head on a Spartan Engine, because it had bad valves in it. The truck had 300 miles on it. Spartan claimed it was the customers fault the head went bad. They wouldn't reimburse the customer his money back to replace their cylinder head. It was his fault, it went bad, according to Spartan. The shop told me when they took the head off that was bad, it had big valves in it for like a HP 350 engine. This was a 305 engine. I asked the guy if he pulled the other head, and he didn't because there was nothing wrong with it, yet. Seems to be the trend with Spartan engines, we'll send you replacement parts for your engine, and you pay the labor to repair their problem. I've done a lot of engine work over the years, and these remans. from Spartan, are the worst out there. Hopefully more complaints will pop up on this complaint site. Good luck getting it resolved.
i bought a reman spartan/atk motor from advance and hired a mechanic to install. the idea was to have short down time. the motor was making noise deep inside from the beginning and got worse. that was 30 days ago. spartan/atk has still not started process of sending another motor. my biggest fear now is if or when they send another will it also be a terd like the first one. what a bad experience so far and its not over yet.
Spartan Engines are junk, and Advance Auto Parts is bending over backwards to help me out. Installed a Reman. Engine from ATK, which has switched to Spartan a few months after I installed the engine. Engine ran fine when I installed it with no problems. Customer brought it back for his 500 mile oil change and check over. It was 2 quarts low on oil, and no oil leaks. Since then it use a quart of oil every 400 miles, and no leaks. Opened a claim with Spartan on this engine. They will not pay any diagnosis time, and your customer is responsible for that. They wanted me to check this and that, at my customers expense. Needles to say I never charged my customer. I called Spartans customer service back, about a year later, to see what they wanted me to waste my time on next. They said my warranty claim was closed, and listed as fixed. I asked them by who's authority? I never closed it, problem never went away. My customer used this truck for work, and I only had a certain time of the year it could be worked on, unless it broke down completely. Within the 1st year of oil consumption, the check engine light came on, with a cam sensor fault. Lab scoped the sensor, and found cam gear bad. No use replacing that, until we get something resolved on the oil consumption, which I was sure the engine was going to be replaced by their warranty. When I found out my 3 year unlimited mileage was out of warranty. I said no way! They said that was only good in trucks up to 1 ton, and I was working on a 5 ton. I explained that to their tech support guy, that before we purchased the engine, we hashed all this out. Advance Auto Parts and Spartan engines, both told me and my customer, 3 year unlimited mileage. The tech guy said it was in the copy of my warranty papers. My warranty papers, tell me to contact them for a copy of the engine warranty. I wanted to make absolutely sure, before I put this engine in, that this warranty covered commercial vehicles. I was assured it would be covered. So Spartan Engines mislead me, my customer and Advance Auto Parts. Advance Auto is going to supply parts to fix the check engine light, at no charge to me. They have always bent over backwards to take care of me. I will never buy a Spartan Engine again, even if they sell out and change their name. I would only purchase and install Jasper Engines for now on.
misleading promo
15% Off $100 + $50 Off $100 Coupon for a Future Order (Online) - READ THE TERMS CAREFULLY
Advance Auto Parts had promo stating "Advance Auto Parts: 15% Off $100 + $50 Off $100 Coupon for a Future Order (Online)". If you want to save money and not get ripped-off with this or similar Advanced Auto Parts promo READ THE TERMS CAREFULLY or do like I do, don't shop there anymore.
First of all the $100 purchase is before taxes, I got that and added small item on top of the $99.99 purchase I made. However the $50 coupon never came because my purchase AFTER the 15% off was below $100. There were other terms as well probably intended to confuse the consumer.
I already installed the item and made changes to my vehicle so I cannot return it. But the beauty of capitalism is that there is competition and I can take my business elsewhere and educate others to be more careful than I was. This promo is intended to be misleading.

First of all you are an idiot. There isn't a coupon in the world that discounts a tax amount. Secondly it is your own fault for not reading into what you were purchasing. You are exactly what is wrong with this country. Take some responsibility for your actions instead of ### and blaming it on someone else, and at the end of the day you still saved 15% so why are you ### to begin with.
I also had the same happen to me. They are playing games with the small print. after discounds, tax and other things. the sub total is not the $100. The online mamagers are not willing to work with anyone. I waited 1 hour with them on the slowest auto parts web site and people on chat that act like your a fool. my reciept read 103.48 and the total after the 15% DISCOUNT IS THE SUBTOTAL THEY GO BY!
faulty goods and an un-reputable retailer
You might reasonable expect a major national retailer to check they are selling reputable merchandise. Not so with Advance Auto Parts. They have no confidence in some products they sell and refuse any warranty without telling the customer. I purchased a Victor 300 PSI air compressor, recommended to me for car tiers by the store clerk. After 3 uses it broke down.
Advance Auto Parts refused to replace or refund and then stated they give no warranty on the product. And they did not care if I posted this complaint. Clearly Advance Auto Parts sell merchandise in which they have no confidence. In many countries that is illegal. The lesson is simple. Do not buy from Advance Auto parts unless they confirm a warranty in writing. Preferably do not buy from such an unreptuable retailer as Advance Auto Parts.
Free services come last. I'm sorry but that is not only how it is but also perfectly correct.
If the store has even one other customer inside and is staffed by 2 zoners (very common) you will NOT get your free service till the store is empty. I know it is inconvenient to have to wait but what's your alternative? Pay for the service? Your perfectly welcome to do so. However, you could consider that 10 or 15 minute wait as payment for your FREE service.
labor claim & poor customer service
I have a commercial account with Advance Auto Parts and the level of service has continued to deteriorate. I have been waiting on a labor claim since October 1, 2010. I have called customer service and filed more than one complaint, attempted to speak with sales personnel, commercial account manager, district manger, regional office, and store manager. NO ONE has the decency to return a call or email. Apparently my business is no longer wanted by Advance Auto Parts. I will take my money and business elsewhere.

aww...(sad face) Maybe it's been more than 90 days?
sorry excuse for being called a business

I will let everyone know about Advance Auto Parts as long as I have air in my lungs and am breathing!

This guy does not know how to fix a car and should not be working on them.
and apparantly does not know what remanufactured means.
ur just another idiot, it was fking used- meaning dirt/installed after rebuild, if you can't comprehend you shouldn't even be on here.
One the Remanned pump was not remanned, I know they are rebuilt but this came off someones vehicle still had dirt etc., 2. Went to "BUY" a brand new puller and this one they had called "NEW" had been used and stripped ! ! !, AND mr OR MRS LOL yes this tensioner did collapse try for yourself it was properly installed by pushing the center til it pups out to tension and ran for maybe 5 mins then it had collapsed. yes the brakes are cheap too but 4 months? ? ? and the rotors only had the second set of pads.. please... calipers are good! They may get their parts from the same or similar but the manufactures differ, you all must work for advance or it's the same person posting plus points for a business that does not deserve any plus!
QUOTE "tried to buy a remanned pump they tried to sell me a used one"
a Remanufactured pump is used...
QUOTE "also tried to sell me a used puller with stripped bolts"
they are loaner tools, you use them for free, they are going to have some wear. they didnt sell it to you...
QUOTE "also bought a brand new timing tensioner and it collapsed and fried to whole engine! "
they dont collapse on their own LOL...
QUOTE "also brake pads failed after 4 months"
their brake pads ALL come with a lifetime free replacement warranty but try looking at your rotors and calipers for wear...
This guy does not know how to fix a car and should not be working on them.
and apparantly does not know what remanufactured means.
Nowadays everything comes from China. Autozone, Napa, etc. get parts from the same place. Napa doesn't evenm have a refund policy...
Refund delayed for days after return and manager rude and unhelpful
Advance auto parts refund policy on debit card transactions: fuzzy 2-3 business days???, cash is not an option??? Then customer calls to request help and manager "will tell you" I originally purchased an oxygen sensor at the alpharetta, ga-store 6169 for my nissan quest on saturday 12.04; the item was not needed so it was returned to the very same store...
Read full complaint and 7 commentsdidn't put oil cap back on; won't stand behind work
I went into Advance Auto Parts two days ago. I purchased oil and one of the service assistants put it in the car. He did not put the oil cap back on. I drove two hours home. When I got home, my husband popped the hood because he smelled something. Oil everywhere!
We have been dealing with them and trying to get them to take responsibility for the damage done to my car.
The manager, Angela, has been completely rude and unhelpful. She actually had the audacity to hang up on me once! These people don't stand behind their work and don't care about their customers! If they cause problems with your vehicle, don't expect them to try to resolve any issues quickly. If you're in Broken Arrow, stay far far away. This is the worst Advance Auto Parts I have ever been to and is bad enough to scare me away from the company forever.

wow this is totally your fault! this is an "advance auto parts"...they sell auto parts...it's not a shop! the guy just did you a favor in pouring your oil in for ya and you have the audacity to blame it on them? lol i hope your engine blew up and had to spend thousands LOL!
QUOTE "I purchased oil and one of the service assistants put it in the car"
employees are not allowed to put oil in your car.
QUOTE "We have been dealing with them and trying to get them to take responsibility for the damage done to my car."
campanies are not required to insure or take responsability when offering a free service.
next time you will not be so lazy!
(I doubt this is the truth though)
This is sad because there is no such thing as "service assistants". This is why employees are not supposed to be touching peoples cars. There is nothing that says that they have to do anything besides wiper blades and batteries. No offense but the only person you can blame is yourself. They are not mechanics nor are they trained to work on cars. People nowadays are so lazy and expect someone else to do the work for them...
broken arrow! lol. is that even a town? lol. come on.
The Broken Arrow location is terrible.
bad policy and customer service
I rebuild about 5 vehicles a year and have been using advanced since they moved into the neighborhood. A 99 Blazer, 4.3 had the engine light come on and I got a code for a bad cam sensor, went to advanced paid $74.04 for the part (got the aftermarket re-man from mexico), went home and put it in. Went to start the car and nothing, wouldn't start, no code...

I want everyone to pay attention to what I have to say here — because
You could be their next victim!
Advance auto parts ripped me off!
After purchasing over 100 bucks in brake parts from their site (Online) I was promised a $50 voucher (Gift card) to use on my next online purchase.
A month later as promised, I got the $50 discount on my next order (Seat covers) but had to return them because they didn't fit my truck — I must point out that there was nothing on the online order form that posted what year, make & model the seat covers would fit. Just a listing for truck seat covers.
Ok. They didn't fit so I carefully put them back in the package and returned them — then I got no credit back! Yep, they literally ripped me off! No store credit, no gift card, no online credit, zip, zero, nada — nothing!
I called customer service who acknowleged that, "yes, we see you returned the merchandise but you can't have credit back because there is this clause in the fine print of the voucher discount that states if any merchandise is returned it may not be refunded or given store credit?"
Hat!? Repeat this — "... There is this clause in the fine print of the voucher discount that states if any merchandise is returned it may not be refunded or given store credit?"
Why?
Until I receive full store credit for the cost of these seat covers — look out world — I will yell from the rooftops at the top of my lungs!
Do not do business with
Advance auto parts stores
I had a bad experience at a store 06778. I was about to purchase 5 Quarts
(8060029) Ralph rung me up at $36. This employee did not care to inform me that this item was on sell with the filter - a savings of $17.75. I asked him where was his customer service and this employee began arguing with me. Your motto "Service is our best part, " was trashed by this employee - "Disservice is our best part." Unfortunately that many of your employees are simply
missing the mark that can make your company "second to none."
Is this the way to run a business, I have been in the automotive business
for over thirty years . I know what a warranty is and how it works but what I'm hearing Advance does not honor them at some of there locations.
It sound like they collect there money and come up with a reason not honor the warranty, is this company policy or store policy . I have heard everything from false advertisement to lies . They do call it Discount Auto Parts is why the parts and service is so bad . When Advance warranties a part the MFG. gives them credit there for no loss to Advance . What is the motive or is it that people out there are just looking to get something for free and when they don't they complain . The person that was complaining about the seat covers, while on the surface it is wrong to do business in this way the 50.00 was a gift, you can't get credit for a gift .
I agree .Advance Auto is the biggest ripoff artist there is.I bought a battery from them for my motorcycle, and the battery leak all over my chrome exhaust, passenger foot peg and bracket, down onto my swingarm.Took the chrome right off.Cause rust in the swingarm bearings and pivot arm shaft.I went back to the store and told them about this, and they say you over fill the battery and the battery boil over.I have been a motorcycle mechanic for 32 years, and never had this happen before. They also said that the charger over charge it and it was my fault. You can ask any dealership that sells motorcycles, you use a trickle charger.A trickle charger will never and I repeat will never over charge a battery .When the battery is fully charge it goes into storage mode.I have over a thousands dollars damage done to my motorcyle.I filed a claim with them and after a month and a half of no response.I called them and they said I had no claim. They didn't even give me my money back for the battery. They said its out of warranty.
Always READ the small print. that where you will find the exceptions.
district manager
My compliant is with the district manager jason, and the floor staff at the hampton store. My prayers goes out to the general manager of that store. For the simple fact of the staff he constantly has to stay behind in doing the work task that they are ask to do, over and over as if they're on the job for the first time. The general manager can only do so...
Read full complaint and 3 commentsstore closing 1 hour early
I called to see if this store had a part that we needed in stock. I called at 8pm, and they said their store was closed. The website clearly states that they are opened until 9pm. I then called to file a complaint. The customer service department said that someone would call me back. After 2 weeks, I called back, only to be told that they have not gotten an answer to my problem yet. A week later I emailed to see if someone was going to give me an answer or not...I have yet to hear back from anyone. It seems to me that they must have way to many complaints if they are so busy to not getting back to answering them. I will not be doing with a company that doesn't care about resolving their problems, and as far as their customer service goes... they have none.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
i am sure that your not doing business with them will most certainly bankrupt them.
