Our community has clear guidelines that prohibit personal attacks, inflammatory remarks, and racially charged language, regardless of the context in which they are expressed. While we welcome discussion and differing opinions, comments that include phrases such as “braindead nonsense” directed at a group or about race can be seen as offensive and in violation of our code of conduct.
That said, we understand that sometimes context can be misinterpreted, and we do have a formal appeal process in place for situations like this. While the vast majority of our bans are the correct action, appeals are reviewed carefully and are often granted. In most cases where an appeal is successful, the ban is lifted and instead logged as a first serious warning on the account.
