Regrettably, I find myself driven to a point of no choice, compelled to escalate this matter only because of the inadequacy of prior responses or the lack thereof, and the persistent neglect of my concerns. My attempts to resolve these issues amicably and directly have been met with responses like, "I'm going to check with my Regional Manager and see," indifference or delays, leaving me with no alternative but to insist on the compensation and resolution I am rightfully owed. The cumulative effect of a yearlong plus without meaningful remedy or acknowledgment has not only undermined my trust in your management but has also forced me to reconsider the peace and comfort of what should have been my family's long-term home.
While the issue is not the fault of management company, yet it is of the owner who chooses to contract with unskilled developers and tradesmen, the overall relaxed handling of this severe issue has been felt across my family, tremendously.
Proper cooling and heating of anyone's home is imperative, right? The mistakes made to ensure that my townhome unit is adequately supported with the proper design and equipment were either ignored or completed by incompetent construction HVAC vendors for The Mark. This is the second property with The Mark that I have stayed on. The first lease with The Mark Midlothian lasted for just that, a year, and I moved as soon as I could. No unit was available for me to view prior to choosing to move there, but recent personal issues forced me to abruptly find somewhere for my family to land. I chose the second Mark property because it was a new build, and I had hopes that it would be better. I decided to stay with The Mark, believing that because I was recent tenant in their system, it would make the process easier than venturing outside of The Mark. However, new didn't mean better.
The amenities at the new location are great and were carefully thought out. Infact, that is the highlight of residing where I do. The parking is also an issue. However, that is tolerable in comparison to living in a unit with AC issues. Why did I stay? Moving is hard, I'm very patient, and I had hopes because management is nice -but that's not enough.
The disregard for what we have been through and the fact that we have paid rent for a year in a unit that we never settled in, because we have been residing in the unit not furnished and designed to our liking because of the ongoing issues with the AC. Not to mention, for a year now, water has been pouring in my second bedroom because the glass insert was not properly sealed. We have had sheets and towels and curtains covering the door, to protect us from the elements. I have requested only for the second time living here that some compensation be had for the inconvenience. While the first was earlier in the first year in which we moved in, the second request a week ago was met with hesitation, as if it would be ignored like the first.
So, what gives? How patient are we supposed to be? How inconvenienced are we to be before going to this extent?
I urge you to recognize the gravity of this situation and to respond not only with words, but with tangible action and fair compensation that truly addresses the undue hassle and hardship I have endured. Anything less would be a disservice to the values and responsibilities you profess to uphold as landlords. I have a second hole in my ceiling with no ETA of when it will be fixed and finalized. Not to mention I'm up for a lease renewal and am now facing additional fees for not renewing a lease for fear that the issues won't fully be addressed maybe for the next year.
