I bought a Microsoft Office Pro Plus Retail license from wincdkey.com on October 21st, 2025.
First of all, the license key I received does not appear to be an official Microsoft key, because it doesn’t work in Microsoft’s own installer.
Instead, you’re supposed to use an installer provided by the shop. The product page did not mention anywhere that the next step would be to run an exe file from an unknown source with admin rights. Well… thanks for that.
But even then it didn’t work. The key was accepted by the installer, but after a successful installation, the program still wasn’t licensed. As a consequence, even basic features like changing the UI language to German are not available. The key can be entered again inside the program, but that also doesn’t work correctly. After restarting the program, the software is unlicensed again.
So I contacted support and actually got a reply the next day. They told me to try a new key. Several keys they provided didn’t work, so I assumed the problem was on my end. But even on another PC with a fresh Windows install it still doesn’t work.
In the end, support told me to just use Microsoft Office in English. Well… thanks again. My requests for a refund were skillfully ignored.
Payment methods with buyer protection such as PayPal also weren’t offered. I actually should have smelled the rat right there.
So in the end, I am left without a working Office license and without a refund. If I had wanted the unlicensed version, I surely wouldn’t have bought a license key, right?
Claimed loss: 5,88 € and my sanity
Desired outcome: Please provide me with either a *working* license or just finally refund my money.
